so the street price is going to be 34.99$ right?
Chrono Trigger DS
-
-
Either that or the $40 price tag I've seen coming through the rumor mill.
-
what is this rumor mill you speak of
-
I forgot exactly where I heard that from too lazy retrack.
-
I see, I heard the 34.99$ price from gamespot
-
gamestop has it listed as 39.99
hope that helps -
gamestop sucks tbh
-
Square-Enix always puts their big handheld releases at $39.99. FF IV was, FF Tactics A2 was, and Dragon Quest IV is.
-
It'll be worth it.
-
You'll probably be able to grab it from Target or one of the other big retail stores for less, though.
They usually mark down huge release games for the first week or so.

New Dungeon Details:
“Dimensional Distortion
A mysterious dungeon suddenly appears. Travel through time to overcome the challenges, and reach the depths to claim a hidden power. Clearing the different parts of the dungeon will affect the End of Time in some way.
Dragon’s Sanctuary
In the last leg of the story, new gates to prehistoric times and the middle ages suddenly appear. Within the dungeon, one will have to complete various requests to continue. The quests gradually increase in difficulty, and you may have to go to a different era in order to continue. Help the reptites to reach the innermost parts of the dungeon. What could be waiting there…?” -
the target in my area sucks. and theres a good target like 1 hour away from us its just gas money costs so much its not even worth it.
I end up paying normal retail price at bestbuy. save money in gas.
-
Forgot to mention a "monster battle" minigame, at least acording with Gonintendo
-
so this is an rpg no?
-
so this is an rpg no?
This is THE rpg. If you haven't played it, don't even bother calling yourself an rpg fan.

The plot is still one of my favorites of all time, and probably among the few games that actually made me feel something (pity, happiness, etc.) for the characters
but I guess SMRPG's nostalgia value just makes it slightly better in my oppinion
can't wait for a DS version of that one
-
I like to refer to myself as "the guy who played pokemon and enjoyed it and is looking for another rpg to play at the moment."
-
I wonder how much time the extra dungeon puts on the clock. I've always been able to finish a game of CT (New Game option) in a little over 20 hours. And that's completing every side quest, yet. Will there be a themed dungeon for Norstein Bekkler? I always wanted to see what was behind that cage door.
-
Fucking FUCK YES.
More info makes me a happy Zenigame. More dungeons make me a happier Zenigame.
Just remembering how much I fucking love this game makes me super impatient for its release.
-

Well I played this in HS when I was playing FF7/6, and some american rpg's I can't remember the names of.. I remember Torment though, which surpasses Chrono Trigger in my opinion (of course it had no bishi character for Sasuke fans to huggle), only a talking skull.
But anyway, I never got past the last boss, and I kind of got turned off by it, the third time I had to fight him in the future.. the game itself was wonderful though, and simple enough to follow, so I think you would like it.
Also there was a group about 10 years ago that was working on making a 3d Chrono trigger, and they were AWESOME. ..but they were tragically shut down by Nintendo because Nintendo is a bunch of duchebags.
-
Don't blame Nintendo for that, they had nothing to do with it.
Chrono Trigger Resurrection Project was shut down by Square.
-
^
They weren't making the game in 3d, it was only cutscenes and "what it would look like". -

PLANESCAPE TORMENT!!! WHOOOO!! Morte, the floating, talking skull!!
(Besides Baldur's Gate II THE BEST RPG on the PC… Well, and isn't it strange, that both games, BG II and PT are from Black Isle?g Oh man, Black Isle was THE RPG-forge...)
I'm sorry for off-topic, but yes, Refii, you are right. Planescape DOES exceed CT. And believe me, I'm so fucking in love with CT, I would kill anyone for it. XP (Now, wasn't that a statement?)Besides that, PT is the most text-filled game I've ever played... Aww, loved it. Just loved it.
@ RuNa:
Thank you very much for the dungeon info!! What a coincidence, I just thought about the "new dungeon" today, and went on a hunt for information... And you came up with it. ^^
Sounds great, but I'm curious about the "affects End of Time in some way"-Thingie... What the hell does THAT mean? How will it show off?
Just 2 more months... -
Planescape: Torment was indeed a Black Isle game but Baldur's Gate games were actually just published by Black Isle. Baldur's Gate is instead from the magic forge of BioWare.
Yeah, Torment is pretty much a cult classic. You can often see it occupying people's "Top 10 RPGs/games" lists. Good luck for finding a legit copy tho. The game didn't sold that well and it was a rare game for awhile. I had to pirate it couple years ago. Although… nowadays you might be able to buy it from an online service. Dunno. It's a pretty old game anyway, I myself probably wouldn't pay full price for it anymore.
-
Wait. Why is this news so exciting? I'm playing it on my PSP right now. Are they even making changes or additions to the game??

:wassat:Yeah and?

cause a lot of those youngens out there, never got to play it on the older systems and this is their first chance. and yes, there is a new dungeon.
-
Wait. Why is this news so exciting? I'm playing it on my PSP right now. Are they even making changes or additions to the game??
Because it's the best game ever. That's more than enough reason.
-
can I download it yet?
-
In a month but you shouldn't get your hopes up.
-
@Sandai:
Yeah and?
And I was confused as to why people were like "HOLY #$%*-ing $#!+balls my life is complete!!" because the game came out for what…the third or fourth time? As if an SNES is that hard to acquire with Chrono Trigger. There is always PlayStation 1/2/3 that are all capable of playing it from the redux with anime sequences and slower load times for battle. Of course, you can also back up the game (like I did) and play it on a PSP with popsloader. The only great part I was able to see at a base level was that it was on another portable system – therefore more available to people. That is cool, don't get me wrong, but I was wondering why everyone's pants exploded from the news of this release.
@Dark:Because it's the best game ever. That's more than enough reason.
I suppose. Again, I just wasn't sure why everyone was freaking out over this. I would love to see the game redone with full blown graphics overhaul and more anime sequences personally, but another re-release of the same exact game is ok I guess.@captain:
Yes, there is a new dungeon.
Ah. This actually answers my question. That is cool I suppose. Still not sure what the freak out was all about though. Not enough to tip the scales quite yet in getting a DS for myself. I loove the game. I am seriously playing it right now, and will follow up to it with Chrono Cross again. I was just hoping to see more new content – not just the same game......again.
Edit: I guess it's my fault for not reading the entire first page. I assumed that the first post would be updated with content like the spoiler thread. The game's new features:
- Portable platform.
- All-new dual screen presentation and Touch-Screen functionality.
- A brand new dungeon.
- Wireless Play mode.

this was pretty cool. I didn't know magus's name was changed as well.

its exciting to me because i missed out on it years ago,
I missed out on this and Eathbound -
its exciting to me because i missed out on it years ago,
I missed out on this and EathboundWell if you could read japanese and import games you could've got Mother 1+2 for GBA.
-
@Sandai:
Well if you could read japanese and import games you could've got Mother 1+2 for GBA.
its on GBA?
and I would learn but it would take me 3-10 years before i knew a good amount to play import games -
@Sandai:
Well if you could read japanese and import games you could've got Mother 1+2 for GBA.
that's kinda snarly. there are a bunch of people that don't know japanese, but can still be enthused about videogames.
KF22: Solar was telling me about a fan made english version of the third game was being released online.
-
^Yup its coming out in a few days (Mother 3 fantranslation).
-
Oh…I thought you guys were talking about Radical Dreamers. I was gonna say I thought it was already out...
-
that's kinda snarly. there are a bunch of people that don't know japanese, but can still be enthused about videogames.
Just suggesting.
-
@Sandai:
Well if you could read japanese and import games you could've got Mother 1+2 for GBA.
I honestly wouldn't recommend that deal. Both games are quite glitchy in the double-pack, and the sound quality is so-so for Mother and AWFUL for Earthbound. Really, if he was upset about missing Earthbound the first time he should have just emulated.
Really, I just want to see the new dungeons and experiment with turning the anime cutscenes on and off. I never played the PS1 version, so I'm not sure how they fit in to the gameplay. I still have a SNES cart that's been New Game +'d three times (you have to beat it at least three times to get three sets of Moon Armor), but I'll do it again. It's a fun game.
-
moon armour? i don't remember that? we talking about chrono trigger or earthbound?
-
Earthbound doesn't have new game plus since it's one of those RPG's that don't return to the title screen once you beat the game.
-
that's kinda snarly. there are a bunch of people that don't know japanese, but can still be enthused about videogames.
KF22: Solar was telling me about a fan made english version of the third game was being released online.
Cool.
its strange no other imports come with language options.
the import I have on GBA comes with a option of
Japanese, english(UK),german, spanish(Euro),Italian, and FrenchSeems like I got a PAL import, but the game box, Cart art, and title screen are japanese.
-
Never played the game. I think this is a good way of getting me into it.
-
Hey maybe they`ll make it so you can pull off the long-rumored sidequest where you save Schala!
…wait
-
-
While it was extremely cool that they made that the ENTIRE point of CC, it was also incredibly lame that I spent hours upon hours of my childhood trying to accomplish it in CT.
-

um….........WHAT?!
-

Oh geeze, that brings back memories.
-
um….........WHAT?!
When I was in high school the internet was spreading like a virus beginning to sink its claws into everything and before things were organized, there was chaos. And from that chaos were born legends of half-truths and miscontrued translations from fans of gaming and manga.
One such legend was that of Chrono Trigger's 'incomplete' nature. This of course was true. In recent years we've come to learn more about the cut dungeon, the sprites, etc. But one rumor that persisted and lived on the borderline between fantasy and reality was, you could save Schala, supposedly during the time when you go to save Crono. I tried BAT-SHIT-INSANE combinations at Norstein's sideshow in order to get clones, searched the world over for hidden portals and in the end, came up with nothing.
And so I thought this story regarding saving Schala, was pure bullshit and Square never intended for such a storyline.
And then came CC.
