i know this is farfetched but maybe jimbei will join the strawhats. since we know that the SHs are going to merman island and probably jimbei rules that territory most people assume that luffy's next major opponent will be jimbei. well i was thinking, since oda is the king of surprises maybe jimbei and the SHs will join forces to fight a villian such as maybe don flamingo(or another villian) who happens to invade merman island. after defeating the villian jimbei joins the strawhats seeing that there are humans that can be trusted. =) again there is no evidence that this will happen, its more just something i hope will happen. what do u guys think?

Except that we've already seen that Jinbei is pretty ruthless, from descriptions and foreshadowing from the Arlong arc. I'd say the chances are extremely slim, but of course it's One Piece.

With that said, I'm looking forward to the Yellow Monkey. Also, Jimbei being something "untraditional" would fix that whole bounty conundrum. I mean, if Luffy beats another shichibukai then it's unlikely that Luffy will fight Donfamingo.
I mean, I know bounties aren't power level, but what else are they going to hold over there heads? I don't see the pink boa man nearly killing Luffy two times before finally going down.

I have a theory, what if a really strong guy joins the crew? I mean, one guy who could concievably beat any of the SHs, like Robin and maybe Franky seemed at first. Probably an old, wise and experience fighter. Of course, he stays the same while the crew gets stronger, and still fights weaker opponents then the others just cause of chance.

And why would Garp be a fromer Aku Inu? For all we know there could be 4 admirals if need be. Holding their strongest warriors back a rank cause of a 3 man limit is stupid.

Funny you brought up Kurama, 'cause I was thinking about the same thing right after posting that
!!The drawback to that is, like I said, character development. Unlike YYH, OP is not a fight based series, but a story and character based series. Look it, all the fights in OP always take place at the end of every arc. You have the odd scuffle in the middle, but everything is minor. The entire arc is always devoted to the plot and the characters. After each SH absorbs their needed lesson from the events around them, they go and fight their fights. So in such a case, Jimbei will most likely (but not necessarily, mind you) be a fully developed character…character...wise
. He would relegated to sitting around waiting for his fight to come up at the end of each arc, and giving out his perals of wisdom on and off. Plus, which SH would actually listen to his wisdom anyways ^^?But if Oda DOES make Jimbei join, he would turn out to be one of the most interesting character to ever show up in One Piece. I mean, the twist and depth required to pull something like that off and make it work would be astounding!

Jimbei is a member of the Shickubaki, an organization of ruthless and dangerous former pirates. That alone tells you this guy isn't going to be of any help to the protogonists of the series.

You're thinking of Arlong. He was racist, in the fact he assumed his race was superior to Humans (even though it's true).
Kokoro is the same race of Arlong, but she doesn't think she's superior to humans.
True, Arlong could have picked up the human-hatred from Jinbei, but their seperation could also be caused by Arlong's hatred alone, while Jinbei could be indifferent to humans.

Arlong aqnd Jimbei are Fishmen. FIshmen have their waist-UP fish-like. Thus Hatchan has 6 arms and 8 legs.

Also fish-men want to be superior to other species and sometimes each other. They are dominating in general, and feel superior. Not only is Jimbei a Shicihbukai, Arlong's fromer Captain, but a fishman. doubt that they have 2 totally different opinions. Mr 1 and Crocodile both consider friends a weakness. It's jsut like that, both have common fishman need for dominance.

I think it's because he became a Shchibukai, and there for is working for Humans that Arlong couldn't stand, and because he’s a Shchibukai the crew split-up any way. Of cause this could all be apart of Jinbie's plans… you now that empire Arlong was talking about, Jinbie could of faked the hole Fishman pirate split and him joining the Shchibukai to gain strategic positions and information to topple the WG (a bit like Crocodile)

The only thing I've been worried about with Jinbei is… his subordinates. WAY back in the Arlong arc, everyone was all like "Zomg Arlong is teh old partn4r of teh Shichibukai lordoez!! They never called Arlong one of Jibei's mindless subordinates (like the mindless subordinates Arlong had) but his partner, as if he was second in command for a while.
While just the (old, lost) bounties alone can tell us that we don't have to worry about Jinbei's strength, obviously he's infinitely stronger than Arlong, would it not seem like ALL of Jinbei's current subordinates would be even weaker than Arlong? I mean, that fishiguy wasn't that much of a pushover for Luffy back then, But honestly, his Douriki (I think alot of people [on the forums, not in the manga] will use that word more often after the CP9 arc) must have been 300 max, and almost every member of the SH crew has proven to be able to beat people like that. I mean, Luffy's outside of Gear2 is between 900 and 1100 (big range, but ah well. At the START of the CP9 fights arc, he proved to be just barely stronger than Blueno without Gear2, and way way way way way way way stronger with it) right now, and with ultimate attacks and all that, Sanji and Zoro have proven to kick the asses of 2000 Douriki guys.
I'm worried that, unless Oda corrects himself in the manga or withdraws previous statements, a battle involving Jinbei's henchmen wouldn't be all that fun for Sanji and Zoro. Luffy, I'm sure, could have a field day on Jinbei, though.

Douriki was more of a way for Oda to rank the levels of the CP9, like the number system in Baroque Works. Applying random numbers to characters isn't going to prove who's stronger.
I could say Kuro was a 200 Douriki, and Luffy was a 250 cause he won. But that makes no sense. Lucci was 4000 douriki to show how much stronger he was than the CP9. Kaku was only 20 higher than Jyabura to show that he and them were pretty equal and to show that Zoro and Sanji follow the same pattern respectively. That's it. It's not so we can get a DBZ power level "OMG Luffy is 20350 and Lucci is only 20349! PWNAGE TO TEH MAX!".
As for Jimbei's subordinates, who said he had any? To our knowledge, Warlords leave their crews pretty much. Doflamingo gave his crew to Bellamy, and Arlong took over Jimbei's crew from what it sounds like. Croc had subordinates, but they were secret subordinates used for a secret takeover plot. Not so Luffy's friends will have people to fight when the time comes. There's nothing even stating that Jimbei will be at the merman island. None whatsoever other than "OMG MERMEN ISLAND! JIMBEI MUST BE THERE!". I'm going with the theory that Jimbei is at the island of nude women and beer because… it should exist and any man should be there.
