One thing that probably hurts OP, is the cost of catching up.
I know I'm a bit hesitant to pick up a series I know is 20, 25, 30 volumes just because of the price.
Honestly, a series of 3-in-1 volumes (a la Tokyopop) would probably really help in that matter. Or "10 volumes in high-res scans on a CD-ROM"

I still want OP to leave the magazine but the biggest problem is in regards to image. Compare a OP who leaves the magazine and goes bi-monthly…to a manga that gets a ton of chapters in the monthly Jump and is pretty much a bi-monthly release in the volumes as well. (sort of obvious what I'm talking about)
I think Naruto's situation is a case of people wanting to collect more Naruto merchandise versus people wanting to read One Piece in English (however bad it might be). The magazine just offers one more Naruto product to buy while for most OP readers it's the only way to get new chapters in any reasonable amount of time.

Simple, if it wasn't in SJ, it would propably get a faster release. 3 volumes a year is just, well, pathetic.
Ideally, I'd like it if they started doing MONTHLY releases until they're caught up to Japan, but seeing how that's never going to happen, I'd be happy with a bimonthly release too. But one volume every 4 months? That's just awful. -

I want to get to Water 7 this side of my 30th birthday, and I know others feel the same.

The funniest part of that list: Watchmen is still on it and its been over 10 years since its release…then again the movie is coming soon and its just a comic classic.
The stupidest: second month of release and Naruto 29 is still #1? No drop off or anything? Yeesh...shows how many Narutards there are out there (and I doubt it will drop off either once they realize how bad the timeskip really is...they really are that blind in the US) I highly doubt OP would ever get a #1 on that list unless somehow people wake up...which at this point is slim to none.

I say the best thing we can count on is if Kishi pulls the plug on Naruto soon, Viz gets too caught up, therefore they put in more chapters of One Piece. I'm honestly annoyed that we're only on Alabasta this year. Then again, I'm never looking forward to how much Viz will screw up future arcs. I guarantee you that Eneru won't be referred to as God, I have my doubts.

He prbly isn't going to be called Eneru either he maybe called Enel.Yet most of that arc is going to be changed.There not going to be called preist.And the people in Skypeia will not be refered to as Angels.Im scared to see Skypeia translated by Viz.

Viz has loads of problems, but censorship on that level isn't one of them. I don't expect them to completely rewrite all of that. I think people are getting too worked up over nothing. Skypiea should be fine.

Let Viz run their company anyway that they want to because they certainly aren’t doing anything wrong by business standards.Sure catching up would be nice but that just isn’t going to happen (at least anytime soon.)

Now that you guys explain, that probably would be a better option for One Piece. It'd be cool if they skip to Davy Back Fight, like they did for Naruto and Bleach, skipping to the arc after the tv anime's current arc.But seeing as how America sucks when it comes to OP, that's very unlikely:sad: -

Jumping ahead in the magazine would be a win-win situation for both the volume-only crowd like me, and the magazine readers. If it worked for Yugioh, it sure as hell can work for One Piece, though Viz sadly doesn't seem very concerned about that.

VIZ Media is using different translators now than it did for the earlier volumes, there's no guarantee religious references will stay in, especially since the manga is very inconsistent with them - "Do you believe in a higher power"?
Ener and his priests are much more overt than Buggy's claim, though. Especially since belief and myth play a larger role in Skypiea than even other in-serial shounen manga.

Well, I'm perfectly alright with 'higher power' as the translation, as in context it means the exact same thing.
They could just have Enel refer to himself as a deity. Means the same thing, and doesn't lose too much meaning. Other alternatives could be divine ruler, overlord, etc. And they could stick with ''I am the lightning!'' for the ''Watashi wa Kami nari!'' pun.

Why does it seem that BLEACH is released slow. When I only read VIZ 3 years ago before I learned about the internet sites and stuff like this I thought. The Japanese must be at like VOL.40. There only on 34 wtf

It's sooooooo bad now. ALso I think viz needs to do a Naruto skip to One Piece. Skip to W7 but release the volumes also at like 2 a month taking a year to get to Enies Lobby. I really wish Viz understood how big a deal One Piece is.

in my personal experience viz seems to want to stay consistent with whatever terms the anime on TV uses if it's currently running alongside the manga
(such as Naruto first using "art of the doppelganger" then "art of the shadow doppelganger" and now it's finally simply "art of the shadow clone" and is usually written as "kagebunshin no jutsu" below it).imo if Funimation keeps the whole god/priest thing then so will viz.

Davy Back Fight is actually a better starting point than just going bulleting into Aokiji. Its a cool-down arc and mostly transitions with the themes of "the crew breaking up" introduced and taken more lightly than all the trauma that happens in W7/EL. Besides, the very last chapter with Foxy's crew ends with Aokiji sleeping standing up.

Well i just really think the kiddies will like one piece when they see Aokiji.Kiddies just like those lazy bad ass strong people that can beat the main hero without breaking a sweat.
Kiddies really like fights.Where blood is coming out and awsome techniques.Thats why I think we will get more fans when they see Zoro vs Mr.1 and Luffy vs Crocodile.
Then Viz will takee one piece out for a little while and sell Skypeia.Then when we get to Davy back fight it will be a comedy for the kiddies and they will like it.Then they would see Aokiji and be exited because someone one handeld luffy.Then when they see Ebiss lobby they wet there pants.This is just the Basic formula for popularity for one piece. -

Not really related to the Viz-manga, but okay… It's decent if you don't have too high hopes for it, but it's not nearly as good as the actual Alabasta-arc.

Well, FUNi didn't keep that, being that apparently showing religious stuff on TV in America is the worst thing you can possibly do.:getlost: They've said that they'll keep it in the uncut dub though, which seems likely enough: They did make Buggy say "If you're King of the Pirates, then I'm God!" after all.
However, if the Viz-manga calls him "King Eneru", then I'm gonna kill someone. -

I read the chapters from the original and since they are so far…there putting my intrest off on the US versions.I dont want to be in my mid-30s or eraly 40's buy the time the series reaches where we are now or the end

Yeah, I'll never understand why Oda made the skypiea arc so long. And on top of that, barely anyting comes from it because Luffy doesn't defeat a Shichibukai, or gain a new bounty…after like 100 chapters, his life doesn't change at all.

Rogers connection to the phoneglyphs was made there.
Thats where nami got the working waver from.
an interesting logia fruit was revealed there. same with the mantra power.
without it Urouge in the current arc will just be a big "Wuh? what the hell? what is up with the wings?"
(ok that might not be fully explained in the skypiea arc or enels coverstory either. but still at least he won't be alone about it.. and peple wont wonder about theese sky islands.[/hide]What the…? Alabasta will be over middle 2009 because at about 2-3 chapters a month and 32 more chaps thats about 9-11 months ending it next summer and then skypiea will be over in like 2013 probably. Thats horrible lol

Death Note, Bleach, and Naruto won't stay at the top forever.
Death Note's done as soon as the anime reaches its finale. The movie may make its way here, but who knows.Bleach is dragging its ass now because it's catching up to the Japanese counterpart.
Naruto is going to have to hit the brakes at some point in the future, as it's catching up as well. And the TV show is littered with fillers right now.
Once those three putter out, Viz will have to pimp the other titles in the magazine. And, if we're lucky enough, it'll be One Piece.

Reasons:
1. They'll put lots of bull crap about it being the greatest story ever
2. They will try to make sports manga important in the U.S
3. They use the main charecter as a poster boy.

3. One Piece or Reborn
Reasons
1. Both will either get promoted by trying to make the storys seem funny.
2. If it's O.P they will skip to W7 and in 3 years O.p will be right where Naruto is.
3. If it's Reborn they'll put it in the magazine release it slower then they do now. Cut out all the blood and minor curses so it makes a Teen rating and ruin the series.Thats what I think but it's probably wrond. Don't yell
