Seems to be a Sanji-centered episode. Maybe there'll be some comedy from Odz too.

Yay! Hopefully it'll be a good one.
No, they didn't strech the whole ep.
I liked the Usopp moments in the second half.
And of course the broken (hentai) dream of Sanji in the first half.
Btw I think that Luffy really "kicked Moria's @$$"
PS: I don't know about the censored scene, couse I don't read the manga. Is it true?
Shit, they censored the knife on Sanji's back! That ruined the scene completely.

Yeah, I just read through ch.464. He gets knifed in the back when he's holding up Nami and being hit by invisible Absalom. Dunno why they cut it though.

Yeah, that was very well done.
The knife edit was just unexpected, it kinda ruined Sanji's little "sacrifice". Toei always had a problem with stabbing in the anime when you think about it, but still…annoying.
How did the censor it? Was it literally a cut? There wasn't enough time for an animation change but a few weeks ago there was a stabbing massacre in Tokyo. If it was plain cut out that could be the reason. A few TV programs have been altered because of it.

Seems they just removed it. But the stabbing massacre is definitely a valid reason to remove the knife.
but a few weeks ago there was a stabbing massacre in Tokyo.
I read about that shit. Akibahara, of all places.
If they just removed it that sounds like I hit the nail on the head then. In that case I suppose there's a chance it will be available on the DVD.
Ah, right, that Akihabara incident.
Editing the knife would require some time, we see Sanji on his knees and there's still no sign of it. But the whole scene felt so weird, it could very well be the case. It was like Sanji got hit by a shining, random attack.
Oh god. I just realized I've missed about 2 months of episodes. But we're already at the Sanji vs. Absalom episode? Nice. I'm gonna try and catch up just in time for Zoro vs. Ryuuma.
I see they removed Sanji's heart being stabbed by Absalom, still a good episode though

Reading is FUNdamental.
Yeah, here's a comparison:
Anime:
!
Manga:
!
Hmmm, I don't know how they would have been able to make an edit to the material that fast. I would understand if the scene had a strange cut but him there on the ground like that with clearly no knife or blood, I dunno about that. Looks like a bullshit edit from the start to me.
damn 358 isnt subbed yet. Ah well maybe well get this in a batch release or something
Toei is turning 4Kidsy lol
But seriously, seeing as this is because of that knife incident a couple of weeks back, it's understanding that they don't want to bring such negative responses with the incident still fresh. I'm sure they'll go back to their stabbing ways after the whole thing blows over.
It's official. Sanji hast to have some type of aura like Luffy oder Zoro.
here is the raw on dailymotion

It could be possible they were never gonna put the knife in.
Doubt it. The knife in the back was NOT by far the most gruesome scene they ever animated.
Look at the Zoro vs. Mihawk fight :/
There was a knife just below the heart in that one.

That animation team back then sadly has long been gone. The early One Piece arcs all did the "gruesome" scenes more justice then it is nowadays the case. Ok, of course things like Zeff's or Jango's attack at Luffy were changed but still you saw more blood back then, while nowadays a lot the usage of it went back.
I swear I'll scream if…
! Zoro's injury from Kuma won't have as much blood in the anime as in the manga
Yeah, I remember feeling a little ill during the Arlong Arc, most notably when Sanji was being plummetted to the bottom of the pool. The last time that's happened to me was when Luffy was writhing about after he was impaled by Crocodile.
Fine then, recent example.
Luffy being Super Rokouganed in 309. Plenty of blood there.
Seriously, I would like an example of how the new animation team doesn't put in as much gore as the old one.
Note I'm not asking on how well it was animated but that it was put in or not.
And don't say this episode because you can't prove it has nothing to do with that Akihabara incident which most probably it is.
It's not these examples where raw powers collide in a big fight, but rather all the little scenes that use blood spitting etc. which you see in small panels. They are there in the manga but in the anime the blood there has been reduced to a minimum.
Unfortunally I can't think about a scene from the top of my head, but I remember constantly complaining about that very point when I was a more frequent poster in the RAW episode thread the last years. Unfortunally that's not of much help for you I know. :(
Blood isn't a problem, it's still there, as always. To be fair, i think the manga itself became much less violent and bloody with time.
But like i said, Toei has an old issue with stabbing scenes. Bellamy putting a knife through Roshio's hand was censored too.

Nah, I don't feel so.
A man was blown up and shot point blank in a recent chapter after all.
So a stabbing scene was removed.
However that was done during the time of the old animation team.
What an interesting twist of events.
Actually, if you check an anime edits list, they used to be a lot more frequent up to episode 200 or so.
So, did the anime become more violent? Or was the manga getting lighter?
I'd go for the 2nd option..
Downloaded that just in time…for the 'Stros x Rays game on Fuji TV, lol.
Oh well, maybe next week. Anyone got the time handy (I'll wiki it, I guess...)?
EDIT: Ok, I couldn't find it as easily as I thought, anyone?
EDIT 2: 5:30 AM...blah, I am usually working at that time. This program doesn't happen to have a record feature does it (yes yes, and I also want it to fix my breakfast and do my laundry)?
Ok, with this episode Toei really lost it for Thriller Bark. Not only that you couldn't see the knife but also changing Absaloms altering Absaloms final crusifix pose is totally dull. It was so fitting to have that such a picture in a church but no, apparently it was to bad to be used.
What's more, the whole Perona-Usopp-Kumacy trio is still there. I expected the filler scenes between Usopp and Kumacy in the previous episode to be a lenghtly extension of what was short in the manga, but right now the manga scenes just appeared which means the other thing served no purpose besides adding one of the oldes and most boring cartoon gag as filler scene. Smurf, I won't those guys who did the Drum arc back.
It could be possible they were never gonna put the knife in.
Yep, that's exactly what it looks like. I'm bet they're high-fiving themselves for making that choice now though. For once it actually worked to their advantage.
He might have died:P

After which he was still very much alive.
I think your confusing him with the guy who bit off his tongue. We never see the guy who got blwon up again so how do you know he was alive?
From stephen's site:
Sounds alive to me. They didn't need to add that at all. In fact, if this was early One Piece, Oda probably wouldn't have.
it's still 50- 50
Is the sub out yet? I heard the subbers were taking exams or some crap like that. I'm not sure if it's out yet.
But like i said, Toei has an old issue with stabbing scenes. Bellamy putting a knife through Roshio's hand was censored too.
They also reworked when Dorry's hands got stabbed to the ground by Mr. 3.

No shit, really? Do tell.
Yet stabbing a whale with the edge of a broken mast was okay? Heheheh!! Toei probably liked animal abuse.
Angry Sanji looked pretty Super Saiya-jin-esque :P
Good episode, but kinda ruined with the editing and all. Hopefully we'll get an uncut version on the DVD/Blu-Ray.
@Greg & Yonkou#3
Please keep talk of that particular subject out of this section since the anime hasn't gotten to that point in the story.
No shit, really? Do tell.
In the manga Mr. 3 stabbed Brogy down to the ground with his wax swords. In the anime, while it is still hinted he may be stabbed, his limbs are covered in wax.
These images were taken from Every-One Peace, you can find other changes on this page (the site is in spanish): http://www.xkstation.com/everyonepeace/Contenido/diferencias.htm (As of current, it only goes up to the Davy Back arc)
Using that page as a reference, you can see just how much Toei has avoided "stabbing" instances.
Kidany, thank you, I totally forgot where I was. I'm sorry for that.
Buuhan, WOW!!!!! I NEVER NOTICED THAT!!!!!!!!! Actually the episode where he has that done to him was the first episode of One Piece I ever saw and it was during its live broadcast on my first trip to Japan and it left a big impression on me. I think I completely glossed over that fact EVERY time I read that part in the comic and NEVER realized that! WOAH!!!!
I'm pretty sure he still has crucifying-nail thingies still… <<
I swear I'll scream if…
! Zoro's injury from Kuma won't have as much blood in the anime as in the manga
I'll be PISSED. That part is kinda really important. They'd better do it justice.

Episode 73, aired June 24, 2001. Right? So, you've been going to Japan for over 7 years now? Wow, quite a while. Good show.
Heh, I don't remember that scene where Luffy knocked Moria on his ass in the manga.
Was quite an "lol" moment for me.
Well, the episode was ruined for me…. They show the scene of the Knife-In-The Back but then after the commercial type thing half way through theres no knife in sanji's back to take out.. That was the highlight of the whole fight.. and... Unfortunately.. Its ruined...
