I stumbled over Arlong Park's character bios and I noticed that they had Zoro only two bars out of six concerning intelligence, just one over Luffy. I really don't see how. He might have problems with directions for comic relief, but in actuality he seems to be a very smart fellow and always keeps his composure and senses. Anyone else see this as a total smack in the face to his character?
ArlongPark.net rates Zoro 2/6 in intelligence…why?

I think those stats are based on data from Oda's red data book. Wherever it's from, I know it's Odas stats and that they were done pretty early in the series.
-
Zoro suggested they cut off either his or Usopp's hand when they were handcuffed then Chopper would sow it back on good as new. Zoro also attempted to cut off his own ankles when trapped in Mr. 3's wax to keep on fighting.
Zoro's a dumbass, there's no changing that and I don't really see how it affects his character in a negative way.
-
Aha…I always took those as a sign of being a badass than stupidity... but that is a good point.
-
That just goes to show you doing things that look badass, are typically not the smartest things to do.
-
Ya like Wagomu said, those came from the Red Data Book.
-

Good thing zoro isn't smart then, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten such an awesome 485 scene.
-
He's not smart in the traditional sense, he just behaves in a way that makes perfect sense to him.
In otherwords he's a dumbass like Luffy, and it's awesome.
-
Zoro just has a much higher wisdom than intelligence score. >>;
Whaaaat?
-
Zoro…
...could have lost an arm when he decided to "test" Kitetsu in Logue Town
...suggested cutting off his own feet to escape Mr. 3's trap
...went half-naked on a winter island (Drum)
...when in need of a plan, he just "leaves it to luck" (invasion of Enies Lobby)
...suggested cutting off his or Usopp's hand to escape the handcuffs in Enies LobbyI'm pretty sure that there is much more to this list. Help me complete it!
Anyway, Zoro is fearless and cunning, and that's why he is a badass. But he lacks common sense and strategy. Sometimes he does have a pretty good idea (the "mark of friendship" to avoid Mr. 2's infiltrating the crew in Alabasta was his idea) and he is more mature than Luffy, but not much smarter.
-
Like was said, Zoro is one of the wisest members of the Straw Hats. That doesn't mean he isn't a complete dumbass.
WIS =/= INT
-
Oda himself said that all his characters are morons.
-
Chapter 41, page 2
Zoro: You moron, if you don't discipline your throat muscles, the fish bones are just gonna stick in there. -
@Kidany:
Zoro's a dumbass, there's no changing that and I don't really see how it affects his character in a negative way.
But he's too cool to be a fool.
But seriously, it doesn't really matter. Though I'm surprised that someone was actually using Arlongpark.net.

Zoro thinks with his spirit, not with his brain.
-
All of the Mugiwara crew are genius' in their own fields. That's all that needs to be said.
-
True ^^
Anyway, while Zoro isn´t dumb, he isn´t really "smart".
Nearly everyone else in the crew is likely to have a higher IQ. Except for Moron D. Luffy (nothing against him ;-) ) I´d guess <.<Franky build himself to be a Cyborg, that needs some serious brainpower. Still, he is sentimental and short tempered.
Sanji is probably the most intelligent of the Monster Trio and among the more intelligent crewmembers in generell, at least when it comes to tactics. As long as no woman is in reach, that is ^^
Usopp, he defeats his enemies with brain, not brawn. And considering the enemies he beat, he has to be quite smart. A coward though ^^
Chopper: Brilliant Doctor, naive moron :)
Nami: Greedy yet sneaky
Robin: Do I really have to say something?
Well, for the old bonehead Brook, we don´t know about is brainpotential. Then again, he surely is a no-brainer (Skull joke, yohohoho…). But seriously, I´d put him down somewhere below Zoro´s level. Still, he WAS (acting) captain of the Rumba Pirates. But so is Ruffy of the Strawhats.
As you see, intelligence is relative. Despite not being the smartest, he´s one of the less moronic characters.

Whoa, for a minute there I thought it was four years ago.

Lets hope Zoro will never change. When situation isn't deadly serious he's so funnyEspecially in Skypiea.I wonder does he have these magic googles so far

Whoa, for a minute there I thought it was four years ago.
mumbles something about being used to use the german names
Ya´ know how hard it was not to write "Zorro" or "Lysop" (aka Usopp) ^^
But well, thanks for the subtle hint :D

According to my estimate Brook is 3/6 in intelligence I think.

Zoro is a dumbass, but he just covers it with macho-ness and a good instinct.

That would be a better place to discuss this–-^
-
Zoro is a dumbass.. he followed Luffy in order to make his dream come true. And that rocks :D
-
Zoro having a rating of 2/6 for intelligence doesn't surprise me at all. Like STAREYe said, Wisdom=/= Intelligence.
-
Hey guys, I know it was in the 3rd movie (not oda-canon) but hasnt the manga aluded to both zoro and luffy being mostly illiterate?
-
The only thing those two can't read are maps.
-
Zoro is insightful, but not smart. Like Luffy, he's absent-minded, and doesn't think of the consequences of his actions. For example, trying to cut off his legs in Little Garden. But, he has his moments where his insight and recognition of a situation is very keen and perceptive. He's smart when he needs to be.
Luffy is a combat genius. His understanding of his rubber body is second to none. While he's naive many times, and absent-minded, he's not completely stupid. When it comes to physics, he could write a book on it that would rival your high school professor's entire course. When it comes to anything else, Luffy is hopeless. Part of me, though, thinks he really doesn't care.
Brooke has shown to be absent minded, Like Luffy, but he does have his intelligent moments. For example, he figured out how to purify the zombies, among other things. It also takes a keen intellect to read and weave music. Hell, John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix could not read music, and yet they were two of the most talented musicians of the last century. So… using music to fight is impressive.

Brook only discovered their weakness through elimination. He thought it was the fish at first.
