If Hachi used a trident with all 6 arms imagine how strong his thrust would be!!!
Kenpachi approves.

Oooook. So we can see Duval's left hand.
Morgan's axe hand was his right.
So Duval is Morgan.Well… at least, we know he's not Arlong.
yeah, im' completely in agree with you!!
A we some. Aweso meawe some. Aw esomea we someawe somea weso meawes. OMEAWE!!!!!!! Somea wes omea w es ome…
WTF?
People are saying that Hatchi is going to use a Trident? Umm… last time I checked the manga, he was a SWORDSMAN.
He's not a GOD. Only Gods use tridents
Example: Enel, Possiden, King Neptune, Possibly Jimbeji
since some of you are too lazy to actually read the Hatchi cover story to understand why he might have a trident…perhaps you at least of the energy to at least view one of the pages.

'fake gasp' what on earth is that funky pitchfork looking thing he is holding?
Dude, that's as you say a pitchfork. Totally not a trident.

I hope your joking. If not read the cover story.
Still though I doubt he would be using a trident.
Nah man I'm totally serial.
No doubt someone already mentioned this way back in the thread and waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the spoiler thread, but Hacchan's head is visible in a panel on the last page.
Well Greg, I've determined that you're the mermaid. :)
Nah Greg, I'm pretty sure you're the first.
Can't believe I missed that. Too focused on Duval I guess.

If you're talking about those two spikes in the middle panel, that could be many things.

Including Hacchan who was just on the Phone Snail and even appears to be wearing a headband like he did near the end of the mini-arc.
Something else, anyone notice that the symbol on the Flying Fish Riders seems very close to the symbol on Franky's shirt from TB? It's not identical but it's very close. Another brand perhaps?

Erm, I fail to see a headband on the last page. Or I totally misinterpreted what you were refering to as Hachi. You mean the spikes behind the Maquereau pirates right?
Erm, I fail to see a headband on the last page.
In looking at the print version I see two lines that could easily be his headband. It's a classic move on Oda's part including those minute details in vague images not to mention they're commonly worn by such vendors, and we've seen him with it before in his dream.
Gonna stick by that being Hacchan. Oda didn't just happen to draw random Hacchan-like hairspikes by the individuals he was just speaking next to several minutes before. Look for it in the SBS someday if he even considers that important to spend time on.

Wow, is there such a big difference in the print version that you can actually see such a thing on that little shadow in the background? Awesome. We are talking about the panel in the very middle aren´t we?

There´s no reason for it not to be Hachi. I mean, he is there after all and the "…!" bubble even directs towards that shadow instead of any of the Maquereau Pirates.

Ah, proof again that no matter how clear the scan, the print version is always superior for the little details.
Nice catch!

Untrue. Scans can be clear enough to not hide anything the original shows. Trust me, I speak with experience.^^
dinty,
You bring up an excellent point that makes a good segway.
One of the first pages I flipped to in the new Log was WB's reveal. Guess what? Log's are superior to tanks. I compared them a while back and I don't recall much of a difference and in some places I thought JUMP was actually superior (which it still may be) BUT I noticed that the seated nurse on the far left is actually seen holding a pen or writing utensil in her hand whereas it's totally absent from the tanks.
So until the kanzenban version comes out many MANY years from now, LOGs still look like the biggest and best experience for OCD fans.

Well, yeah, assuming it's a high quality scan and the scanlation crew cleaned it with a light touch … and one other nice thing about such scans is that you can zoom in infinitely, something you'd need a magnifying glass for with print.
But in terms of the average quality scanlation scan, print is far superior. For the details as well as the line-quality.

But is that actually due to printing quality, or to post-tank/post-WSJ cleaning and editing? Regardless, I can see where logs would be superior if for nothing other than size.
But if the printing is similar to weekly SJ printing – that is, more like newspaper than like a proper book -- then I'll stick with the tanks. I haven't seen nearly as many fade/haze/light newsprint type problems in my tanks as I have in my weekly issues.
Still, the logs, with all their extras, are tempting ...
;)
Oh it's definitely size. Nothing to do with quality, it just isn't there in the tanks, not even close.
Log 'quality' is an interesting beast. As far as the printing, it's drop-dead beautiful. None of the newspaper-print style that comes off on your fingers from JUMP. HOWEVER, the pages are extremely thin and nowhere near the heavy grade of tanks.
Pick your poison it seems.

I agree. I just made my comments in case you generally meant prints are superior to scans.^^
And Greg is right, the Logs are by far superior to the tanks. They make for much better raws if you use them (not to mention you get everything that was colored once, colored again). The only problem is that if you have a HQ scanner, the thin paper makes for extra hours in terms of cleaning since you pretty much see everything from the other side of the page too.^^
So until the kanzenban version comes out many MANY years from now…
I constantly entertain a vain, futile hope that Shueisha will start on this process early, while the series is still running… Say, a low-frequency schedule, like one book a quarter.
So… what exactly is a LOG? Is that like SJ-size pages with tankouban quality?

While that would make me the happiest little girl in the world, I doubt they'll be able to resist the temptation to raise OP from the dead long after its demise like DB and create a whole new generation of fans.
But…we can dream....and hope.....sparkle
Geg,
More or less. Techincally much higher than tanks because of the print size. But again, very low grade paper. It looks just fine but it's also REALLY fine. The color pages are preserved and sometimes he adds little extra tid-bits.

Oh god i hope that doesn't happen it would be like Luffy was the pirate king he got killed then his kid would try n b pirate king and then their would be kolby as sengoku and Zoro would be Mihawk and Helmoppo will be garp illllllllll however the DF will prevent powers from being duplicated and with a strong ending from Oda something like that would never come to be.

Actually I just meant rereleasing it again like they've done with DB but I'll agree that I wouldn't be fond of that.
3. Nami will still hate Hatchi until he saves her at some point in the saga.
What I'm hoping for:
Nami: "You're still the same bastard who dragged me away and locked me up in Arlong's tower, and…"
Hatchi: ... :stuffs ball of takoyaki in Nami's mouth:
Nami: :lights up like a pachinko machine paying out: "What was I saying...?"
Food conquers all.

That would work on Luffy but Nami needs money $$$ to shut her mouth.

How about "I brought some of Arlong´s jewels" then? Worked for Miss All-Sunday back then.^^
I was thinking about who Duval might be and when I re-read the first volume the other day I noticed that the sea monster in the latest chapter looks a lot like the one shanks scares off in that first chapter. I thought maybe the fact the mermaid was eaten and survived might be a hint that Duval is actually Higuma, the mountain bandit who kidnapped luffy in the first chapter and that maybe he survived getting eaten by that sea serpent.
I also thought this might make sense as none of the other people luffy has met along the way would have had time to become a lot more powerful and be strong enough to sail in the new world, except maybe bellamy who was already strong enough. It must be someone we know because otherwise oda would have just shown us his face like hye did when he introduced ace.
They look nothing alike whatsoever.
BUT that's an awesome point. What IF Higuma survived? I like that even better than my idea.
I kinda wonder why people think it's Higuma. He was a lowly bandit, him getting to the Grand Line yet alone Fishmen island even the pussy way would have been too much of a task for him.
He was trying to kill a little kid for Pete's sake.
In the last ten years Higuma would have had better opportunities to kill a kid before it became a famous pirate, not to mention that it was Shanks who destroyed his life (if being a lowly mountain thief is some sort of live anyways).
