There's also Ultra Jump, which serializes Bastard!!, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, GUNNM, Tenjou Tenge, and a few others.

rurouni kenshin was a good anime…but thanks to the fillers I didnt like the way it ended!
Plus I hated the 2nd OVA they had... the one with enishi fighting kenshin and his son etc!
If only they sticked to the manga which had a much better story and more action fighting stuffs!!!
I've never seen busou renkin anime...Is it worth watching?
wow so watsuki has a new manga coming...the guy in the upper right part of the spread reminds me of enishi...
Obligatory negative comment about Watsuki.
Just read a scanlation of "embalming"…
They are calling the monster frankenstein =( (or more accurately "a frankenstein"). But the name is still based on the creator. Seems all the monsters created by the method developed by Victor Frankenstein will be refered to as frankensteins...
I guess it could have been worse.

Yes i enjoyed it,I saw the first chapter I like the Frankenstein battle but i think the series needs more comedy
@Freeman-12:
On the one hand that is true, but on the other hand, some ppl may need to read MORE than one Vol. to know why some series are hyped, like Berserk.
Quoted for fucking truth! Those first 3 volumes put me off and had me stop reading the series for like a year, then I went in from volume 4+ where the actual series pretty much starts and got hooked and blew through those 32 volumes in a week and a half.

Yeah, but not really surprizing though. Pretty much everyone calls the frankenstein monster that. I admit I do.
Not really my type of manga, but I do like Watsuki's work (You can blame kenshin for getting me into manga) so I plan on giving it a chance.
And this may be the only manga hero I can think of who uses knives to fight. Well for hand to hand fighting, I can think of a couple of knife throwers.
"Guns for show. Knives for pro."
To me, this seems to just be a bad-ass version of Busou Renkin. I mean, these "Frankensteins" are just homonculus to me.
Read the scan. This is shaping up to be another Buso Renkin, which was pretty bad.

Well, in the original novel, the monster could have been a type of homunculus because it was created using alchemy.
Busou Renkin is the only Watsuki manga I've ever read, and I thought it was pretty good. I think I'll wait until a few more chapters of this series are released before I read any more, though.

Wouldn't it be considered more of a flesh golem?
Alchemy for me doesnt really ammount to scientific acomplishment but rather strange theories such as "mandrake picked a friday morning "fed" with milk and honey will grow into a little man"
In Mary Shelleys book the monster was made by sewing bodyparts together and electrocuteing them as far as i recall…
(reading the wikipedia entry Victor seems to be applying scientific knowledge to alchemistic ideas.. so i have no real clue what you should call it)
Dude, Rurouni Kenshin was my introduction and hook into Shonen anime/manga. It has a special place in my heart. (and yes. SAITOU.)
That being said I like Watsuki's stuff. I didn't really get into Busou Renkin, but I allow every author 1-2 crappy series, as we can't win them all.
Now, I read one of (I think the first) Embalming one-shots two years ago when it came out in a special celebratory SJ issue (I forget the actual title). I thought it was fairly entertaining, and I thought the characters had some promise. Especially John Doe (the name of the Frankenstein character in it), as in the one-shot he explained that he was searching for body parts to make a Frankenstein's Bride. I'm still curious if he'll reappear in this new series and if the Bride storyline is ever played out.
This new one, I'll give credit for having some suspense. The Ras character could turn out to be either cool or annoying, and I'm hoping the former. I'm giving this manga a chance. And yes, I hope John Doe makes an appearance.
Final thought: I do think we should all give Watsuki-sensei a nod of respect, if for nothing else than Oda used to be his assistant. Oda learned the ropes under Watsuki's tutelage. Think about that.

So wait this manga has creatures called Fraknenstien's? I kinda sense a Frakenstien tourney arc coming up in a year or so…
Interesting. This looks like it'll be really cool…
Y'know, I just had a thought.
Anyone think that Oda might have written the Thriller Bark arc because he was inspired by his mentor's new series?
Probably not, I know, but it's an interesting coincidence. Both Teacher and Student both doing horror-themed stuff at the same time.
Thriller Bark started nearly a year ago though
Yeah, it just seems to be a coincidence more then anything. Though if anything was influenced by Watsuki in Thriller Bark it was probably Ryuuma's death.
@Cap'n:

The first Embalming one-shot was published two years ago.
Frankenstein and zombies
Watsuki explores new ground
I think Thriller Bark was more Oda's homage to Tim Burton's Gothic Style and The Nightmare Before Christmas. And Embalming's awesome so far. They have two chapters scanlated. Here's the link: http://www.onemanga.com/Embalming/
The first chapter's scanlation wasn't done very well but the second chapter's is better and the chapter itself has more humor. I'm very excited about this series and I hope it comes over to the US. And John Doe, Ash, and Elm better be in this series.
Why was that guy randomly screaming sometimes?
It seems alittle bit ok but I just hope it gets better.
What guy? Fury? Well he did just see his buddy get ripped in half by a monster. A previous poster mentioned something about them seeing a cliche tournament arc in the future of Emba. One of the reasons I respect Watsuki is that he steers away from the tournament arc one sees in so many shonens. Of course Watsuki does abuse other cliches…
Also how does this remind you guys of BR? It's a lot darker than BR ever was. I mean I know Edel is a Mahiro look alike but besdies that I don't really see any similarities.
I remember reading ch.2 and i think he was talking to the wacky doctor and he just yells with this "am gonna kill you face."
That's when he's yelling at her to change Ras back to normal I do believe. And at the end he get's his "I'm gonna kill all these F^^%'s" face.
Have you guys heard about my new idea… I call it Frankensteins vs. Draculas: Clash of the Franchises
Well I like the fact that there's a Frankenstein manga as the Dracula idea has been done a lot.
Man now I'm reminded of the Blacula hunter from Venture Bros.
I mostly brought up Dracula because them calling the monster "a frankenstein" is like that Harry Potter movie "audiobook" soundtrack called "Wizard People, Dear Readers" that makes constant references to "draculas" rather than "vampires."
They have an audiobook for a movie soundtrack?
Click on the link I posted. It's basically an mp3 you play while you watch the first HP movie (w/sound muted) and this guy narrates the film like you're listening to an audiobook.
Hm that sounds interesting. I wonder what watching 300 would be like with that?
Seriously, is anybody reading this? I'm having a fun time.

It is kind of in mid-tier.
So, I heard its ending next month.
Can someone says how many chapters it has?
Welp, that is indeed sad.
I know the translations didn't catched up, but I was actually enjoying.
I guess Watsuki will always be remembered forever as "The guy who made Kenshin".

I think the world is ready for more Gun Blaze West.
No, Watsuki will always be remembered as "The author of Ruroni Kenshin" and "Oda Eichiro's Senpai."

Awwwww, man. Well, at least the scans are only in the 20s, so there's still a bunch more chapters to enjoy.
And 58 chapters is a respectable run, I suppose.
