That was my mistake, I worded it wrong, meant to say after it's said that when Aria opens his eyes they have basically no chance. Besides, it doesn't really matter who said it, I mean why say something like that when the guy gets cut in half not two minutes later.
Fairy Tail

Because Erza got her anti-Aria armour (that she held secret from everyone) on?
rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock.
and for all she knows elfmans sister thinks Erza is out of the fight. so IF erza is strong enough she still wouldnt expect her to show up and beat the crap out of him.
-
@Kidany:
Except that isn't the problem, at least for me.
It's that we have a beaten up Erza who basically just took a cannon blast not that long ago suddenly popping up and one shotting the strongest of the Element Four. She does this probably two seconds after saying that when Aria opens his eyes they have no chance. I don't know about you, but I can't make any sense out of this.
Don't get me wrong, I like this series, and I've liked what's been happening so far. I am just genuinely disappointed in this chapter.
While I agree with this argument, I also have to mention that it's not a good idea to single Mashima out when it comes to things like this. Oda is also guilty of the same thing in the Arabasta arc and came up with ridiculous ways for the Straw Hats to beat the high ranking Baroque Works members.
I could also make the argument that Mashima was stressed for time in meeting the deadline for submitting his latest chapter to Shonen Magazine and had to think of something.
That said, only Jose and Gazille remain. Can't wait to see how this battle will go down.
-
Who's singling anyone out? I didn't even bring up the author himself. I'm not the type to be biased towards a series when a chapter comes out and I don't like it.
You bring up One Piece, look at the chapter with Absolom coming back to take Nami, and you can see my complaints about it. Hell look at the Sanji vs Absolom chapter, I genuinely did not like what happened in it. And that's only the most recent arc. I'm not one of the members here who praise every little thing about the series. If i don't like something I have no problems saying it.
I'm not picking on you, just don't tell me I'm singling out because it isn't One Piece.
-
We all know as a general rule of shonen, Natsu's fight with Gazille will last longer then any fight in the arc, and hopefully it's a 5v1 to defeat Jose (Natsu, Elfman, Grey, Erza, Mirajane)
Imagine the epic combo moves?
-
I hadn't though of a 5 v1 fight against Jose. I hope so as I loved the final "every against Doryu (sp?)" fight in volume 17 of Rave.
-
New chapter`s out
-
Well, looks like I was mistaken. Gazille apparently is the strongest.
Though it still seems kind of inconsistent.
And yay, Makarov's awake.
-
This post is deleted!
-
i think a certain metallic ass will be kicked soon…
-
Shit! Gazille sure has no respect for women! 0_0 What an animal!
Looks like Jose vs Fairy Tail next. Can't wait!

Sorry, I misunderstood.
-
I thought the fight with Aira was understandable. Erza was pissed that he was the one who weaken their master. So of course she would go all out against him and strong as she added with her anger, Aria didn't stand a chance.
-
Natsu will melt Gazelle and get nasty, gooey, melted metal all over the place.
-
Jose, you fucking mexican! Leave Fairy Tail alone! shakes fist
Anyone else think that Max Alzore(sp?) is a Gaara wannabe?
-
No. Because sand powers aren't original, and Alzore isn't an emo bitch like Gaara.
-
The thing about NATSU HAS A HIDDEN POWER was pretty odd
course this is shonen and we need some kind of reasonable explanation for how he'll be able to beat Gazille (and possibly Jose), but still.
-
Ohohoho looks like the calm before the storm. Looking forward to the next chapter.
-
@Really:

I guess I can also forget about adding Crocodile to the mix as well. :\

I
m wondering why Loki hasn
t gotten an official bio yet in the manga. I`m pretty curious about his magic powers. -
Yeah, that's pretty annoying. I mean Kana got a bio waaaay before she got to show off her abilities so why is Mashima not doing Loki yet? I mean, who really cares about those minor members if they're not gonna be prominently shown in the manga anyway?
-
Remember, Elfman didn't get a bio until about 8 chapters ago.
-
At least he finally got a bio. That said, Mashima will have to put his bio up sooner or later. He's running out of members to profile.
-
This was a pretty good set-up chapter. Looks like Gazille was the second strongest, although I don't know why the Element Four were called the strongest in the guild then. Oh well, it looks like it'll be a team fight against Jose unless Makarov shows up quickly.

That's the only part of the chapter I didn't really agree with. Not so much Natsu having a hidden power, but how it was brought up. To me it just felt kind of tacked on.
-
Honestly
I mean it was inevitable, but more thought into it would've been really nice.
-
Just got done catching up on this series, it's good, unpretentious fun. The art feels strangely familiar, like Oda and Kubo's illegitimate child, but it has its own quirky quality to it, so I don't mind. The fan service can get annoyingly shameless at times, but I already knew Mashima had a knack for that, so I was ready for it.

If Eiichiro Oda were to fuck Tite Kubo, we would never sleep again.

Methinks Mashima is getting lazy in his storytelling…unless he happens to pull off something spectacular in the big 6-0 that will make us want to have his babies even more.
-
Okay, been a few months since I last checked in and again I'm wondering if this remarkably enticing looking series has developed into something special that I should devote time to. Or is it still too early to tell?
-
Why is everybody so bothered by that motivation speech Erza gave Natsu? It's just that, a speech. It's like a APF mod would tell all you kretenom in bedakom to behave like normal people because he knows you can do it.
-

It's nothing groundbreaking, but it's fun. I think you won't be disappointed if you go in expecting a good time.
Besides, it's still up to chapter 60. OP didn't get really amazing until it was up '80's or so. It'll probably still improve a lot with time.
-
About the hidden power thing…we've already seen that Natsu's flames go crazy when he gets pissed or frustrated. I just remembered that from the Eligor fight. So something similar to that may happen.
-
As for Loki not getting a bio yet, anybody else getting the feeling that he's saving Loki for something big later? So far we've only got little enticing bits, but those bits look like they could be made into a really interesting story.
No just his powers, but why does he have this insane aversion to Summoner Mages?
-

Keep waiting.
I'm still not sure how I feel about it myself.
-
Whatever's coming for Loki, I'm not particularly looking forward to it
-
I thought that color spread when the series first came out was an indication that everyone on that spread would be important eventually. Though Erza wasn't even on it.
-
Who's Loki again? Is it the hip womanizer who looks like Ichigo?
-
Yes.
That's him.
-
Heh, I'd say Carter's outta luck, then. He's definitely playing a role in the end of this arc after his scene in 59.
-
I think Carter was referring more to his " I was too much of a pussy to help" statement more than him getting involved.
I'm inclined to agree since it doesn't sound too promising.
-
Actually I'm just referring to anything involving the character in general since he's always seemed really boring
oh wow magic rings
and he's a womanizer
-
Oh….....
get over it then? = \
I don't really want to hate someone for reasons other characters are annoying when we've seen so little of him.
-
I just like nothing about his character right now, and I really doubt there will be anything in the future that will change that (and anticipate the opposite occurring)
-
Chapter 60 is out. Holy shit!
! -Jose's a fucking vampire mage! He just made Elfman and Gray his bitch!
-Erza vs. Jose!
-Natsu vs Gazille!
-What the fuck is with the dude on the front page in a black mime suit? A dancing mage who increases his allies strength through dancing?Awesome stuff!
-
I wish people would post links to things like this
edit: found it- http://mangahelpers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20385
Wow, this was a pretty amazing chapter. Jose's definitely been a great villain, and that one page of Natsu was pretty awesome. I just hope Gazille goes down quickly, because I'm tired of looking at him.
Judging from the last chapter… I think Makarov might reappear to fight Jose. But I dunno.
-
Jose looks fucking insane!! Oddly i don`t remember seeing that dancer mage before…
-
Hello, long time reader and first time poster of this thread, and Fairy Tail's too.
I just hope Gazille goes down quickly, because I'm tired of looking at him.
I can't say yes to that. I like his character. Altough he seems to be bit of a ripoff of Monkey D. Dragon, I like his personality. And character design too.
-
Someone needs to color that Natsu spread. He has the flame of emotions!!
-
I'm kind of relieved his "hidden power" is getting pissed off, rather than actually being some hidden power announced out of no where.
-
Jose as a bad-ass is pretty cool, but I SERIOUSLY hope Mashima doesn't expect us to buy Erza beating him in the zombie-state she's in. Hopefully, he'll use this occasion to let the lesser known characters show off.
-
@AD-HD:

He looks more like a robotic version of Raditz to me.

What in the…...
Anyhow, I finally caught up. Really fun series, and this recent chapter really solidified my liking for it. The spreads with Natsu were absolutely beautiful, and Jose has a ridiculously awesome amount of facial expressions and, by the looks of it, powers. (Not to mention that GODLY combover.)
