For those of you that care, here's the second part of The Pekenyo Pair.
! At the foot of a hill near the camp, there was a pile of leaves. Pito removed them to reveal a hole that he dug himself. He dug the paw-maid cave to keep all the supplies of fruit and water him and Leka gathered hidden. “Hey Pito, you might want to take a look at this.” Leka calls him.
! Pito followed Leka’s voice to see that he was standing next to the remnants of a fire.
“I knew it, this is my fault. I’m the reason the wolf found our camp.” Leka said, regretfully
! “I’m sure that you’re not responsible for the wolf coming here.” Pito replied.
! “But, look here. I forgot to put out the fire last night, and it caught the smell of it.”
“Well, at least you know what happened now. Besides, it’s not like he found our hidden food, or destroyed the camp.” Pito said, gratefully.
! “I guess it isn’t so bad. Now, I should remember to put it out before going home. Let’s get back; our parents will be awake any time now.”
! But, before they could take another step, Pito and Leka heard a deep, guttural sound in front of them. “Are you getting hungry, Pito?” asked Leka.
! “A little bit. Why?”
! “I thought I just heard your stomach.”
! Pito felt something warm and wet drop onto his shoulder. “It’s raining, we should hurry back.” He said to Leka.
! “What are you talking about? I don’t feel anything.” Leka replied.
! “Then what just dropped on me?” Pito asked, examining the thick liquid on his shoulder. It smelled nothing like rain, either. He looked up to a large figure blocking the sky. It had fur grayer than storm clouds, and towered over them. Saliva was dripping from its open muzzle and onto the two Pekenyo. “That’s the same wolf I saw last night!” Leka claimed.
! “I guess you want to kill it, then.” Said Pito.
! “Let’s start with the legs. I’ve got the right one, and you take the left. We won’t break them, but it’ll make it harder for it to move.”
! “Right.” Pito replied
! “On the count of three, hit the leg as hard as you can. Then, I’ll go for his nose so he can’t smell as good.”
! After Leka counted got to three, Pito brought his paw back as far as he could, then thrust it into the wolf’s leg. They both heard the same, crunching noise followed by a painful yelp. The wolf lowered its head down to see the two little creatures that attacked him. Without any warning, he lunges at them. Luckily, Pito and Leka jumped just in time to prevent the claws or teeth from tearing up their bodies.
! “Okay, forget about killing it. Let’s get out of here now!” Leka orders Pito.
! The two Pekenyo are running as fast as they can with the wolf shortly behind them. Even with its front legs injured, it’s still fast, and gaining on them. Leka suddenly stops.
! “What are you doing, Leka?” asks Pito.
! “Go on without me. I’ll deal with this.”
! “But, I thought you said-“
! “Didn’t you hear what I just said? Go, now!” he yelled
! “Why? I thought you said you didn’t care about this anymore.”
! “He’s heading for the village! Do you know what would happened if he gets in?”
! Leka jumped as high as he could, and hit the wolf in the nose. Pito ran to the village without looking back. Leka was now on the wolf’s muzzle, and rapidly pounding his paws on it. Then, with a flip of the muzzle, Leka is sent flying in the air. Then, he drops into the wolf’s waiting mouth and his jaws snap shut.
