@Vegard:
Seeing how the anime was pretty much its own story that only superficially resembled the manga… Yeah I'd say it's perfectly fine for them to be redoing it from scratch. If you want the anime's story without fillers... well then just look up which episodes actually further the plot (I'm sure there's a list of that somewhere) and skip the rest. That still wouldn't give you anything resembling the manga all that closely though, so I for one appreciate the possibility of seeing Tuxedo Mask actually pulling his own weight, Queen Beryl actually having some depth to her (then again, the anime gave her subordinates much more character... They were pretty much interchangeable in the manga), and the final arc in all its incredibly brutal glory. No amount of recutting the old footage would have gotten us any of these. They pretty much had to go back to square one if they wanted to do something even remotely faithful.
…Not that we even know for sure if they are actually going to follow the manga more closely here. And if they are, honestly I would hope that this series only covers the first two arcs and leaves the rest for a future season 2 or something. Because I do not think they could do a properly paced anime of the whole manga in only 26 episodes.
Fair points you amde there… is it enough to hope they do the best of both worlds and combine all the strong points?
