So, what you are saying Taleran and Ivotas, There is a double chapter this week?
Chapter 453 "Cloudy, Partly Bones" Discussion
-
-
Has there ever been any One Piece double chapter issues of Jump?
-
I think they're saying is that Shounen Jump is a double-issue next week meaning it's both issue #22 and #23 in terms of dates covered. So normal issue next week, but no issue the week after.
-
Jump takes a break for Golden Week, if I recall correctly from last year, so yes.
-
Um….a 'double' issue is one of the most horrible things that can happen to OP.
But whatever, it seems that next week we'll get to see some of what Brooke can do so that's good enough to last me two weeks.
Anyway, wow, what a chapter. Hasn't been an action chapter this good in a while. Things are finally falling into place and we're seeing new aspects of our characters. Fucking Wing was one of the coolest things I've seen Robin do since.....well.....Skypiea.
Plus Robin and Franky together? Love it.
And great to see the Wild Zombies already dealt with. I started to get worried near the end when it seemed yet ANOTHER new villain was popping in but Oda finally seems to have settled in.
Hurray!
-
So, what you are saying Taleran and Ivotas, There is a double chapter this week?
No there is not. That´s exactly why I wanted to make clear that a double issue of Weekly Jump means not the same as two OP chapters in one magazine.
-
Aaand there's no Jump on the following week.
So double issue = bad thing, kidsI'm expecting another major cliffhanger this week.
-
Plus Robin and Franky together? Love it.
quote]Just becouse they're stuck together, doesn't make them officially a couple.
Another thing, B-R-O-O-K!
-
Just becouse they're stuck together, doesn't make them officially a couple.
Yeah, because obviously the fact that I enjoy Franky's over-the-top attitude combined with Robin's calm and macabre demure, that meant I was inferring they were a couple.
_>
-
Flying Robin? LOLz,I like…..wonder how she learned to do that...
And why she never used it before....I mean, that'd be a cool way to escape the government and her other attackers, and fly over water....
Anyone tihnk she just came up with it?
-
No, because if she just came up with it she wouldn´t know that there is a time limit of 5 seconds in which she can use it.
And as far as her using it befor to escape the WG is concerned - She was wearing seastone handcuffs which made her unable to use her DF power. And even if it wasn´t for that, there wouldn´t have been anywhere to escape to from the Bridge of Hesitation with the 5 second limit.
-
when oda was making the chapter he started singing
I'm bringin brooke baaaack
I"m bringing brookee back
… -
brook is worth 2 chapters.. ^^
-
the best thing about next chapter though even though it sucks that there will be a two week break after is that Oda will probably put a lot of info in there.
A bad thing other than hte break is that he'll probably put some cliffhanger at the end so people cant wait to buy it. -
Is anyone else wondering how this arc will fit into the merman arc? I mean, is it gonna be a lead-in, like how Jaya Island was to Skypeia and how the Davy Back Fight was to Water 7/Enis Lobby? Or is Thriller Bark the entire location for the current saga? We've got one Shichibukai here, and another on the heavily hinted-at merman island, so either one is possible, I guess.
-

Aside from fanwankary (not directed towards you) has it ever been confirmed that Jimbei is actually at Merman Island?
Yeah, knowing Oda we'll have a cliff hanger at the end of 454 and two weeks of tons of fun at APforums.net.
-
Why is there going to be a two week break? Just curious.
And Merman Island is probably going to be its own arc. If the Strawhats take down Gecko Moria, the World Govt. is going to go even more beserk after what's already happened with Crocodile and Enies Lobby.
But here's a more important question: Is Thriller Bark stationary right now? Or is it moving? And where?
-
japaneese holiday so next jump issue will be a double issue (only one OP chapter as i understand it though) and then no issue the week that comes after that.
It is said to be impossible to anchor at Thriller Bark so presumebly it is moveing, and most likely it is just moveing around inside the Florian triangle and the fog there so the destination is in nowhere in particular. (probably just covering a few of the routs from reverse mountain - redline to intercept more pirates)
-
@raj:

Come to think of it, I don't think it has. I just assumed so.

I'm talking about sagas. We've got the East Blue Saga, the Baroque Works Saga, etc. My question is if the Thirller Bark Arc will be part of the next saga, or a saga all it's own.
-
what defines a saga?
if there is a reference to Jimbei in TB (and he shows up in the next arc) how big must it be to be considered binding 2 arcs together to a saga?
-
Usually, a saga just has to have a main goal that is present throughout each arc and is accomplished by the end of the saga.
East Blue Saga: building a crew and getting into the Grand Line
Baroque Works Saga: Defeating Sir Crocodile and saving Alabasta
Skypiea Saga: Reaching Skypiea and getting the informaiton on the next location
CP9 Saga: Rescuing Robin and finding a shipwright
Merman Island saga: ??? -
I think that the Strawhats will enter the New World at Chapter 500, just because Oda made the SH's enter the Grandline at Ch. 100 (he said he wanted to too)
We havent really been told that Merman Island is before the New World right? I just know in one SBS that Oda said its near halfway.
-
think they said that the next island is merman island from water 7. so merman island would be before redline wouldnt it?
-
Man, just when it was getting REALLY exciting, Japan has to have a holiday. Ah well, this week hopefulyl Oda releases some awesome information. I would be so grateful if he showed Gecko Moria like at the final page. I wouldn't complain at all when waiting for the new chapter. It will probably happen too, sooner or later we have to see what happens to people when they get kidnapped.
-

Although that would be super cool, I dunno if it's realistic. Although this arc may not last very long you've got to consider their next destination. And if they speed right through, it COULD work if say they're followed, but Oda's been building up to the location for so long that I highly doubt that will happen.

Hey, we need some holidays too. Christmas is a freaking work day.

Your exactly right.
I hope that Oda dosent feel like he needs to make them enter the New World at 500 though and rush through the arc. I read that he wanted to actually prolong the time the SH's stayed in Loguetown (Roguetown? darn gets confusing with the VIZ translation…) but cut it short to make them enter GL at 100.
-
Kick-ass chapter! Brook's back, Robin has limited fly capability, Nami shocks Absalom, Absalom defeats the Sanji dog-penguin thing, and Lola is going psycho!
I must say, Lola has to be the scariest thing on Thriller Bark. I wonder what the other zombies think of her? Or if they dare piss her off…
-
So we're getting a Cover and colorspread this week? Neat, I can't wait to see those two.

Sweet I love colourspreads! OP's just blows every other cover out of the water.

Based on the fact that Fishman Island is underwater and Oda stating it's about halfway through the Grand Line, I'm going to speculate that Fishman Island is actually under the Red Line itself. 20,000 Leagues had a similar idea that the Suez Canal had an underground tunnel that connected the Mediterranean and the Red Sea long before the Canal was created. Fish-Man Island could be the same way, and it would also explain how pirates got to the other side of the Red Line without going through the Marine Headquarters (I'm assuming correctly that it's that part of the Red Line, right?)
-
Oh man.
I just got the chapter title.
That's fabulous.
-
If Captain John can be grouped with such guys as the Elephant-Legge Steroid Giant and wears no armour I'm pretty sure he is more than cannon fodder and fights very interestingly.

I don't know how this happened, but reading your description sort of also reminded me of the first of the "prequel trilogy" of Star Wars, where they had to go through an underwater passage from the Gungan city (yeah, that's probably why I supressed it…though the Gungans were a cool idea, Jar-Jar is sadly one of them) to the main capital of Naboo. I could see a passage like that under the Red Line, linking the Fishman Island to the New World. (may have said something similar before)
-
Oh, I just thought of what Absolom's DF could be! Maybe it's the fabled diamond DF fruit that people have been talking about since Kaku. He could use that to refract light and go invisible, or shoot beams.
Although, crystal or glass could do that too I guess.
-
as well as quicksilver

Hm, but this would mean that every pirate will have to come across Gyojin-Island, ya know? It seems very unlikely, that. And so every of those magnetic-beam-stream-thingies (the log port logs.. you guys seriously know what I mean) would fall together on gyojin-island, just to split again apart on the second half, to become one again on Raftel?
Sounds a little bit fishy, no? (Oh ROTFL… I made an insane joke ;-P)I could live with that theory, if it's proven to be true, but for me it sounds unlikely to be this way.
-
I think you have to reset the Log Pose afterwards, just like Crocus (Laboon's Doctor) did when he gave the Strawhat's his. It sounds pretty simply in theory.

It doesn't neccesarily have to be the only way. Some may find a way to cross over the Red Line

I just heard about this Hans Christian Andersen story about a man who loses his shadow, which later turns on him.
http://hca.gilead.org.il/shadow.html
What I thought was interesting, though, was that after his shadow left, he grew a new one over time. Perhaps that's what could happen to the zombies and stuff once the shadows return to their rightful owners? It doesn't sit right that eight hundred of them would just fall down and rot. But I guess we'll see - I just thought that some of the more… thorough posters here would enjoy another perspective on shadow stuff. I did, at least.

well, there are a lot of stories of people losing their shadows. i read "the wonderful adventure of peter schlieming" by "adelbert von chamiso" when i was 14. i bet german people might know the book, looks like a classic in germany.
i think he sells it for a pocket with an infiny amount of gold coins or something similar. that was pretty nice.
