Did these people even say why the series isn't worth it? If not, screw 'em. It's a pretty good series, better than Wolf's Rain and the dubbed version is very well done.
Samurai Champloo

Most of the complainers are just short-attentioned and have no taste. Go ahead and buy it!
-
Why not get the smallest offering you can (one set, or one volume, or whatever) to see if it appeals to you, before taking the plunge.
-
i know i'd buy it with no regret, but like always i'm low on money.
-

I heard someone refer to it as "Cowboy Bebop in Feudal-era Japan, only the characters are less-interesting and the soundtrack is annoyingly hip-hop." and it has "flat characters and non-existant storyline."
Why not get the smallest offering you can (one set, or one volume, or whatever) to see if it appeals to you, before taking the plunge.
Well that was what I was considering doing anyway but I still wanted to hear other people's thoughts before I did that.
And while I was aware of this thread, I felt my original thread didn't really belong in this one as I felt I was asking a specific question about the show rather than wanting to generally chat about it
-
That would be because most anime fans don't like rap. But don't listen to them! This show is really good.
-
Mugen v.s Jin
In skill,
In character,
In battle,
Who would win?
-
I saw this new DVD on sale. It was Samurai Champloo. It had the first 23 episodes. I wasnt gonna buy it, but then I saw that the person behind it was the same guy behind Cowboy Bebop. the result.
IT ROCKED!!
hardcore fight scenes man!
Good, yet, confusing story…How much do you like this anime?
I'm asking cuz...maybe its just me... -

I'm a bit of a fan. Not big enough to add it to my collection of DVDs. I just watch the episodes on Adult Swim.
-
Awesome series. And if you're real obsessed, try finding all the anachronisms. XD
-
I enjoy watching Champloo. It's a fun way to spend 20 minutes.
I must say though Jin is just classic. Mugen can REALLY grate on my nerves after awhile. Jin is classic all the time though.
-
i hope they make more =)
-
Sorry if this topic has already been made…. delete or merge if it has ^-^'
Soooo anyone seen it? and what does everyone think of it? next to One Piece it's my fav anime. I love Jin and Mugen alot, I think Jin just a bit more.
So who else likes or dislikes it?
-
Nokogiri Manzou is the best character. Followed by Nagamitsu. And then Bundai.
-
I only have up to DVD 2 so I don't know alot of chars.. X3
-
i really enjoyed watching it but it's clearly not one of my favorites animes.
i think the pace was a bit too slow and that made me stop watching it after ep 6 or 7. then i watched it later and found it entertaining.
and as the comparizon is inevitable, i prefered cowboy bebop.
i think a thread about it already exists but it may be a veeeery old one.
-
I like the pace.. it's funny but yeah.. I guess it can get a bit slow.
-
I loved the battle sceanes and humor of the game. But did anyone else notice the striking simularitys of it and cowboy bebop? Thats because they where done by the same guy. I think the basies of Cowboy Bebop where great but come-on. Do you really have to use it over again? thats just sad
-
^
I never liked cowboy at ALL so thats kinda odd how I like this so much?
-
I love the show. I just wished they dubbed the whole series instead of just half of it. CN had to put it on hiatus for awhile. Now they took it off the Saturday schedule and moved it to Wednsday.
-
It was fun for a little while then it started to get boring…REALLY boring. The same thing happened every episode, not to mention it had a paper thin plot. By episode 23, I was really tired of it.
-
It was going fine with me, until they put those two fillers in the last two week but its reaching its climax and things are heating up.
-
I enjoy watching Samurai Champloo. I have sadly only watched the first episode and nothing else, but damned good was my thoughts when I finished it. Mugen pwns. Big. Time.
-
Due to a deep depression because I dont have any OP episodes to watch, I decided to watch Samurai Champloo.
I really hated the first episode, I dont know if it is because I just recently finished the greatest show on earth, or if it`s because SC sucks.
Anyway I wonder if I should keep watching the show or not?
-
its good…of course ONE PIECE is better...but samurai champloo is really good...
theres really no reason for u to hate this anime...its like the same genre as one piece
ps. never judge any anime with the first few episodes
-
I think Samurai Champloo is really good.
However, I also think episode 1 is one of the best in the series.
-
Greatest show on earth?
And you must be crazy if you dislike the first ep fo SC. -
Champloo is a phenomenal series, and I loved the first episode (along with every episode that followed it). I'd suggest watching it, I was thinking about rewatching actually.
-
I loved the series the whole way through and I would generally recommend it to anyone. But I think it's one of those "love it or hate it" kind of anime, so if you disliked the first episode, it's probably not for you.
-
I don't think it was quite as good overall as Cowboy Bebop, but still an excellent series. It's got more violent spikes and troughs with phenomenal and then boring episodes. It's worth sitting through the entire series for the baseball/Americans episode.
-
meh didn't care for it too much at all
-
Its awesome! Really good animation, humor, and fightscenes. Plus the music is really good like you could get up and dance to it music!
-
The series is pretty self-contained. Take that into account for your decision.

Didn't care for it. Didn't like the music or the characters.
-
All in all it was a bit more laid back, and less deep than Bebop.
But I still adore it.
Definitely one of the best anime out there; and yes! the baseball episode is delicious! -
Give it a try it's really a cool show once u get apst the first few episodes-
! You gotta love the episode where Mugen was promised 'something good' XD
-
Champloo is pretty decent. The primary characters don't stand out much, but the secondary characters and villians are usually pretty interesting. The series is very episodic, for the most part, following Bebop's formula of "New Mission Per Epsiode, Save For Five or So That Focus On The Main Plot". However, the new-age punk style is an excellent twist on the age of the samurai.
The ending is like: "…Um, yeah.", though.
-
And you must be crazy if you dislike the first ep fo SC.
exactly! and if you didn't like it, you'll be bored by the upcoming ones. this is a good anime but the pace is slow. and the 5-6 first episodes can be really boring if you're not in the mood for it.
then it becomes really good and the last episodes are average. well, depends on what you're waiting for.
-
I stopped watching it after 5 episodes or so… Up until then, I was gonna scanlate the manga, too >.> I even translated some chapter but threw it away afterwards :x
Please utilize the Search button next time so I don't have to reply the same thing over and over again -__-;

I personally enjoyed Champloo. The music went with the atmosphere, and while the story wasn't as deep as Bebop, still decent. Had some kickass swordfights as well. I wish Zoro would fight like they do in Champloo when he's not using his uber beam & Hurricanne techniques, some more swordmanship would be cool.

I'm getting the last two DVDs for Chrismas, since AS doesn't here in Canada. Its in my top 5 though (Which is kinda irrelevant since I only watch about 5 animes)
