My Daddy didn't care much for it, but he didn't mind as long as I didn't watch it in the living room when he was wanting to watch something :>
My Mom doesn't like that much, saying it's too loud and she doesn't want to bother reading subtitles (I refuse to watch it without them). Also she doesn't like having to read backwards lol. But she loves the quotes and the meaning behind them. Such as:
"Always remember the strength to continue laughing" - Bellemere
"How can we make a future if we don't try our hardest?" - Luffy
"No one is born into this world to be alone!" - Saulo
"When does a man die?
When he's shot through the heart with a bullet? No.
When he's stricken with a deadly disease? No!
When he eats soup made of a deadly mushroom? NO!!
It's when… he is forgotten
I may dissapear, but my dream will live on." - Dr. Hiruluk (this is her favorite because it reminds her of my Daddy, and she shares it with people who've lost loved ones too :>)
My grandpa (Mom's side) hates anything Japanese and will go on and on over this fact if you so much as even mention that it's a cartoon from Japan. I usually try to leave him out of the loop on it
My grandma (Dad's side) is the only 'old folk' who would ever watch it with me, and I think she genuinely enjoyed it. She was a well educated woman and could read fast, plus she had hearing problems after an accident where she fell and lost almost all the hearing in 1 ear and a small part of her hearing in the other
My grandma from my Mom's side didn't really know all that much about it. She refused to watch TV because my grandpa would sit and make fun of it rather than letting her enjoy it. I would tell her about it though, I think she found some of it funny :>
My bro loves watching anime stuff (as long as it doesn't scar him for life coughJUNGLEDEIKOUcough), so he's really into One Piece with me. He likes Naruto better though >:C
I have a cousin who's practically like a sister to me, so it's not a big surprise that she brings her daughters over all the time. Her oldest of the 3 (age 10) is OBSESSED with Chopper. She's informed me that she's coming to TuCon with me next year and dressing up as Chopper.
My cousin's middle daughter (age 7) likes Chopper too, but not to the same extent. She carries a Chopper pillow I got her around with her wherever she goes. Her favorite characters are Brook and Robin and she's told me she would very much like to dress up as child Robin, which fits her PERFECT. She's got dark hair, tan skin, and she has the voice for it. She's also going to be 8 next month. Perfect, no?
Her youngest daughter (age 1) is an adorable ball of cute who I'll often find running around with Chopper plushies. It makes my heart ooze 8D
