@Malintex_Terek:
Why would we needed to be "fooled" into thinking that, huh? I have reasonably faith in the idea that Oda is an incredibly intelligent man and thus wouldn't have produced one hundred chapters of Usopp humiliation for no apparent reason, since Usopp has become a more pathetic character than he was when he first joined.
Yes, I think their will be a reason, but it has not yet shown up yet. One could be that it's a challenge to his dream, wherein Usopp fought several warriors and failed, hence making his dream seem more difficult.
What, you haven't seen this sort of thing before, in other animes? Cause it seems to have gone over your head.
And, at least physically, Usopp is stronger then he was beforehand, and such an experience can only improve them. Humiliation and suffering motivate a smart person to change his ways, so that's what I'm thinking that this arc will lead to. We won't know until a while away.
What you are doing is making a mountain out of a mole-hill, like the people with Dragon. Oda inserts him into one chapter and people go, "HE'S GONNA HAVE A HUUUGE INFLUENCE ON THE PLOT". I read chapter one hundred and it was one of my favourites for a long time and I didn't think twice about Dragon being some background character who just happened to be walking by. Don't give me that moldy argument, "but TEREK he's LUFFY'S FATHER that makes him UBER-SIGNIFICANT" because I've already busted a dozen heads to illustrate how that isn't significant, but instead is just fanservice.
Nah, it's still you opinion. Oda's wasting screentime on that guy if he amount's to some side character.
Sanji feeling weakness? That already happened this arc and he proved his character won't change; such seems to be a theme of Oda's. Regarding strength and development, though, Sanji managed to come through at the expense of Usopp, which just makes his victory all the more hollow and Usopp's defeat all the more bitter.
Not weakness, that's Usopp's goal. But a challange in finding All Blue.
Usopp is going to get "raped" by almost every future opponent since he couldn't even defeat some nobody assassins held up on a Judicial Isle who were incidentally weaker than four other assassins who were masquerading as shiprights, bartenders or secretaries for several years.
Not really, since either his opponent will be a total joke or he'll get some deus ex machina that allows him to win, which changes nothing since he didn't win of his own skills but of circumstance.
You ass, why are you calling the arc villians so insigniciant? Of course everyone the SHs have fought will be weaker then say, Whitebeard, in the long run, but the SHs develop until they reach the level of strength where they can challange those characters.
Also, I don't get your analogy. The assassins that "raped him" and the "weaker then four other assassions" where the same people. Actually, Jyabura was a high level opponent, so what's the problem?
The OP opponents don't just get stronger, isn't that a point you once agreed with? It's actually very possible that an opponent can have some wacky fighting style that superior to Jyabura but at the same time without having the strength or speed of Jybura. Maybe that didn't make sense, but it's possible.
Saying that Usopp can't beat anyone in the future just cause he lost to a CP9 doesn't mean squat. That's like saying that Sanji can never ever beat a guy with mantra without Luffy holding him down, or that Zoro will always be defeated by logia users. The SHs change dramatically in each arc sometimes, like the upgrades in this arc, or the dials in Skypiea. Who knows what the future holds. A few arcs ago Nami couldn't even fight.
If Usopp fought Van Auger and won because Van Auger was suffering a hard attack and lowered his gun when Usopp shot him, people would go "omg, Usopp's a Grand Line power".
Retarded folk are retaaaaarde~d.
No they wouldn't, when has that ever happened? And Van Auger hsghould be strong as hell, so Usopp needs to improve before then.
No, he didn't. Chopper's fight was awesome and one of my favourites in Enies Lobby, but it didn't showcase his power or strength; it showcased an animalistic side of himself he couldn't control. He basically had to throw the fight in order to win it.
If Chopper controls the Monster form, THEN he'll outshine people.
What, by outshine you mean fight stronger opponents? What the hells the point of that, they always fight the strongest opponents, But Chopper had a far better fight.
Because it's right? That's what I thought.
Well, that'll teach me to even slight respect you opinion.
No, Zoro and Luffy are not the only important characters.It's all of them, hence why they all get this screentime.
If anything, it's Luffy's story, and everyone including Zoro is secondary to him. What, do you think that just cause Zoro has to beat some strong guy for a noble cause that it's important to the plot of the story? It's only important to Zoro, just as finding All Blue is important to Sanji. Zoro's no more important to the story then Sanji and Nami and Usopp. Sad but true.
You lost. All that "Usopp's gonna get development, Usopp's going to get a fight" came to NOTHING. He literally fell apart when he could have become a better person, meaning Usopp went NOWHERE for the whole gosh darn Enies Lobby arc. He's back to being the favourite loveable "I can't do crack but I try while looking like an idiot" fool you know and love, only he's shown he's more incompetent than everyone thought and an arsehole to boot.
Originally, I did not have anything against Usopp and I was bitter toward Sanji stealing his fight, but Sanji only won through great difficult and frankly, he deserved that fight a lot more than Usopp did. In retrospect, Usopp fighting Luffy was just arsinine, Sogeking was outrageously retarded; it was foolish to think Oda actually inteded to have such a character go anywhere, and it was foolish for people to believe he actually would change.
How appropriate; fooled by the "King of Liars". :getlost:
Damn you're bitter. Maybe you'll feel different when the arc is actually over.
Foolish? In a series that preaches "fight for your dreams?" Ridiculous. Oda's not that bad of a writer, so wait for still story to actually end beofre reaching these decisive conclusions.
@aldrich:
I'd say Rock Lee and Shikamaru are the two "underdogs", for a lack of a better word, of the Naruto universe. But I still think Shikamaru is more comparable to Usopp than Lee, as Lee is anything but a coward and is a completely talentless guy who managed to reach the same level than the naturally gifted monsters around him through sheer willpower and hard work, while both Shikamaru and Usopp were born with their particularities (superior intellect and anormal shooting skills).
Quit calling Usopp a coward eveyone. He's had it rough lately but his actions are hardly that of a coward. A coward would have run from Jyabura and let Nami die on her own.
He is OP's Lee. They both are weakling that are trying to reach the levels of their peers.
Are you forgeting that Lee's fighting style is ultimately ineffctive? Jesus, even Sakura can punch hard then him now, while with gate Lee couldn't even punch through a boy.
