Could make her a part of the crew regardless of her age (she’s obviously strong enough) or just pawn her off to the giants (pending on how Elbaf goes) and figure all those pacifistas will be enough to keep her safe. He could take it a bit more seriously similar to how he let Robin join and that’s before the possibility he actually is informed about everything Kuma did for him and his crew.

Even in the case Oda does end up fully restoring Kuma's humanity, there still could be the question of whether or not he'd leave Dragon for Luffy, since Luffy is the Nika hero he had admired all his life.

Otherwise that could go at odds with how Kuma concluded that Luffy would be the hero who'd change everything.

This is actually wrong. When Kizaru cut the lift in half and the pacifistas were about to shoot them all, Kuma activated once again and put himself between the lasers and Bonney. Same when Kizaru then fired his lasers at them. Whenever Bonney is in danger, he acts.

I think Kuma getting out = him alive partly for this reason but also because I can't see Oda giving Kuma a peaceful passing on the ship. It's going to be some kind of Whitebeard style sacrifice. And even if he's just unconcious, as long as there's a chance he could move then Bonney will stay with him. Remember, her goal was to have Vegapunk try to bring him back. If she leaves Egghead with the three Punks and Kuma, they'll almost certainly stick together at that point.

Nah. In both of those instances, we are not shown Kuma in panel. As far as it has been established to us by Oda, Kuma will have moved to protect Bonney in those instances but Oda showed us someone else beating him to the punch (Sanji and Brogy).

If Kuma has already died, Oda would've made a much bigger show of it.

Exactly. If Kuma is dying then he's doing so in a big memorable and iconic way, like sacrificing himself to take out Saturn, while telling Bonney that he loves her.

Ehhh... He didn't have Robin in his very first group concept no, but he had her in mind early enough that she was in the second lineup before he'd settled Chopper's design, and he'd removed the floating guy, and she appeared in the actual story in chapter 114, just a little over two years in.

He added her VERY early in the process, probably when he realized he needed someone on the crew to care about the history of the world since Luffy wouldn't. (Floating guy might have had the same role?)

He similarly needs someone that actually cares about the D (Law) and may similarly need another character to care about "The Dawn", but since Carrot and Yamato are both gone now I have no idea.

Seeing as how we’re now getting into a Wano cover story, and Caribou is getting close to revealing where Pluton is, I think we’re set to give some focus to Yamato again soon, similar to Jinbe when he left for a time.

Regardless of how many want to claim it’s “too late”,
this is Oda’s chance to follow-up on Wano plot lines, Yamato included.

I’m pretty sure he won’t squander this opportunity, but if I’m wrong about that, then he’ll prove me wrong as we go along.

Seems that Yamato is getting her own cover story now. Will be interesting to see what becomes of her crewmate desire as her feelings progress while in Wano.

I said this is the spoiler thread and I will repeat it here: I expect the cover story to end with the BB Pirates being outside of Wano. Oda will leave it on a cliffhanger and will give us all the details after the SHs find out what happened.

If there is any SH level character development to be had, it will be saved for that future chapter and not covered in the cover story. At that point it will be either retainer or final crew member for Yamato. If that is Oda's plans, hopefully it's addressed before Elbaf, or at least before we get too deep in that arc.

Just like how the Germa coverstory began during Wano but then by the time of Egghead it bled into the main story, I'm expecting the same thing to happen here. Most of this coverstory will be following Yamato travelling across Wano and giving us updates on all of the regions and people of Wano. I expect we'll find out who all the new Daimyo are and we'll finally see Ryuma's grave. Hopefully we get updates on the beast pirates who weren't captured by Green Bull (so Jack and the Tobi Roppo). But as many suspect, I think by the time we get to the end of this cover story we will have already had a chapter in the main story of Blackbeard learning from Caribou the location of Pluton and so him showing up at the end of this cover story is very likely.

My big question for Oda here is how much of Oden's story does he want to parallel with Yamato? Potentially, this will be a story where Yamato travels around Wano and gets his own retainers made up of randos / ex-beast pirates across Wano before ending up at Kuri (where we will see that a new castle is being built where Oden Castle used to be). But then when Blackbeard arrives, Yamato will leave with him and that's how he'll end up out at sea and eventually end up with Luffy. It's like a twisted take on Oden, where Oden left with Whitebeard and then end up with Roger. Yamato will leave with Blackbeard and end up with Luffy.

It’s interesting to me, because I’m thinking back to Nami and Robin were with the Straw Hats for a little bit before they separated themselves due to outside circumstances. Only to later get into trouble which compelled the Straw Hats to go to where Nami and Robin were to help them out.

So if Yamato gets into trouble with Blackbeard, then I could then see Oda using that as a way to bring Luffy and Yamato together again.

It really depends what Oda wants to do with Bonney’s character.

Considering Oda has created characters such as Bellemere, Hiriluk, Tom, and Fisher Tiger, and they all turned out, if Oda is making similar story beats, then I think we all have a pretty good idea how Kuma might turn out.

VP could make him a clone with no mind to transfer the memories or something but clones take time to grow.
