@Ubiq said in Disney animation thread:
Actually, how many films do they have left to remake at this point? At least, how many of their films that people actually care about?
Are we counting stuff like the live action Kim Possible or Rescue Rangers? If so they have quite a mine yet. Are Pixar films up for grabs, live action Toy Story makes a lot of sense... And stuff like Cinderella they can probably remake once a decade, or with Muppets, if they want.
But for the big Disney animated films, they've done 19 so far, if you count Sorcerer's Apprentice for Fantasia,20 if you count Pete's Dragon. With another 9 on the schedule,
The ones on the schedule are Snow White, Bambi, Moana, Lilo and Stitch, Hercules, Sword in the Stone, Robin Hood, Aristocats, and Hunchback. That'll put them at 30 out of 62.

But they've done three different live action 101 Dalmation movies now, including that Cruella reboot origin story., Two maleficients, two Alice movies, and another Lion King is coming, so...
I could see them throwing a Night on Bald Mountain film out for another piece of Fantasia.
The wartime compilation films won't be adapted, so no Victory through Airpower or Fun and Fancy Free or Dear to My heart... and they will never ever acknowledge Song of the South. (though a new one could cleanse the old racism I guess?)
They could certainly do a Donald Duck Three Caballeros in live action. but I can't see them doing Donald or Mickey or Goofy in anything other than animation, unless its a Roger Rabbit hybrid deal.
Sleepy Hollow is bound to get one straight to Disney+ eventually for Halloween. Wind and the WIllows...is all anmal people and would make no sense to do
Rescuers is possible since that's a full book franchise but its not a huge hit and given how they treated Rescue Rangers. Ditto Mouse Detective.
The Chronicles of Prydain/Black Cauldron really really deserves a second chance.
Oliver and Company maybe if the budget is low enough? It was very, VERY 80's though so they'd have to redo EVERYTHING about it including the songs so I'm not sure what the point would be.
Tarzan has gotten other live actions since the Disney version, it'll get one every 10 years forever at some studo or another.
Emperor's New Groove would be every kind of disaster.
Atlantis and Treasure Planet would actually benefit from live action... but were both expensive flops so wont be a priority.
Dinosaur, Brother Bear, Home on the Range, Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, Bolt, i don't see anyone caring about, but give it another decade and there will be adults in charge that grew up on those so...
Wreck it Ralph nah.
Zootopia has a sequel planned already.
Frozen in live action is 100% inevitable, but they'll wait till they finish the animated trilogy first.
