I find her boring as a person and as a judge (HBO's Legendary), but here's to hoping that she delivers this gig

I quite enjoyed the first episode of Loki. Partly because I love the way they designed the TVA, mostly because I love Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson playing off each other. Owen Wilson speaking French isn't something I thought I'd hear. And I admit, I didn't see that twist at the end coming.
But now I need a Miss Minutes pin/keychain/sticker/something. Disney has merchandising gold on their hands. And yes, Tara Strong is confirmed as Miss Minutes.
! So the Avengers actually going back in time and altering the timeline (removing the infinity stones) is not considered a violation to the timeline.
But a random person coming late to work is??
I found the explanation when something is viewed as a violation kinda strange, hope they elaborate on that some more.! Probably, although we know that Miss Minutes' "explanation" of the TVA was probably extremely stunted.
-
Yooooooo hook us up with Loki and Mobius kissing Disney, please!
-
the atmosphere at TVA is quite a thing! the inspirations are abundant [from communist propaganda to 30s' cartoons] but they all mash so well together, the series' team did a great job
-
Not great, but better episode. They've coddled me enough with the explanation of how things work.
! I wish the charges were dropped in the first episode and not this one. Thankfully it happened now and not later.
! All you gotta do is show Loki that there is a more entertaining option and he'll follow. The thing is, him backstabbing you is inevitable. Lady Loki let Loki get too close and it's over for her, she is food. Her motivations seems like Loki's in essence, but there's an obvious catch coming.
! From my perspective, the Timekeepers feel whatever is necessary to keep time going is "part of the plan". When something goes off of that track, there is chaos and those within time get closer to exiting time.
! Why is exiting time not good for the Timekeepers? Well, they already have rivals that challenge them for supremacy of Limbo (temporal zone/outside of time) in the comics.
! - COR (agents that work for the Living Tribunal)- Kang's empire
- TVA (run by the Timekeepers)
- Timebreakers
- Alioth
! What happens in this episode is Lady Loki drops reset charges into multiple locations. The branches start to appear rapidly. This interest Loki, but I can tell he's planning to 1 up her in the end.
! Here's a list someone from Marvel Studios r/ was able to zoom in and find of locations of the charges
08.03.1522 Phong Nha, Vietnam
! 03.31.1492 Lisbon, Portugal
! 04.23.2301 Vormir
! 10.25.1551 Thorton, USA
! 11.22.1999 Cookeville, USA
! 02.16.2004 Asgard
! 10.03.1390 Rome, Italy
! 08.13.1984 Sakaar, Tayo
! 02.02.1808 Barichara, (Col)
! 07.14.1708 Porvoo, Finland
! 12.27.1382 Ego
! 10.13.1982 Titan
! 09.21.1947 New York, USA
! 03.01.1984 Tokyo, Japan
! 01.03.0051 Hala
! 08.02.1999 Kingsport, USA
! 09.24.1001 Kandar
! 11.23.2005 Beijing, China
! 07.18.1903 Madrid, Spain -
It's keeping things interesting. But can someone explain to me:
! Who Lady Loki is? Is this from a branch of the comics or someone completely new?

! 12.27.1382 Ego
! I only recognize Kang in that list. Damn, I'm really starting to feel out of the loop now that I apparently haven't read enough comics.
! And Ego? In 1382? That's too early for GotG, so what happens at Ego then? Hmm . . . -

From my understanding, Lady Loki is another version of Loki in the comics from a different part of the Multiverse. In the series, it seems like they may be using an amalgamation of Lady Loki and Enchantress. Enchantress ability and first name is used for Lady Loki in this episode. She acknowledged that Loki is her and that she isn't him to 1 up him. So, Lady Loki with some Enchantress sprinkled here and there.
! Yeah, i'm interested in all of those locations and time periods. This is the madness we've all been anticipating. -
Those are definitely public domain right? And god help them with trying to copyright Ragnarok, everyone and there mother uses that term
-
Pretty sure you're not allowed to copyright ancient myth.

Well since Mr. Gaiman's last book was on Norse mythology, when asked about he gave this answer:

Can I copyright Jesus? :ninja:
Only if you do it with the intent to piss off religious conservatives.

You sir have a deal!
To be fair that’s the only reason I’d possibly want the copyright in the first place
-
I liked this episode way more than the first 2. I feel like the first 2 episodes could have been 1 episode.
! They beat down the fact that she is mostly inspired by Lady Loki and is Loki, but they sprinkled some of Enchantress in there (abilities and 1st name). Her full name was on the TVA document in episode 2 before her and Loki met.
! What should be considered is the little that she has explained.
! - Lost her mother earlier than Loki based on only remembering her in small doses- self taught magic (could be lying)
- her "love is hate" quote is the most important sliver of characterization. I believe this to be her motivation and that room she was going for within the TVA might be tied to it.
! Loki's preference of lovers was shined upon here and I loved it. His character is explored through simple conversation. The way he took care of explaining his mother was in great service of who he is. Sylvie wakes up and he's singing w/o a care in the world lol.
! I've seen some speak on not remembering that Loki can use telekinesis. He used it last episode, in Thor and Thor Dark World. I think they should look up those scenes.
! The love/hate theme was executed properly. From the woman who knew Loki wasn't her husband because he wouldn't talk in such a caring way and Loki/Sylvie being comfortable enough to divulge varying knowledge of their mothers. -
New Shang Chi trailer coming out tonight!
-
Really happy to have almost explicit confirmation of Loki being bisexual. Now I just hope we see this visually represented beyond just bisexual lighting.

And here it is
Holy crap, was that the Abomination?

My most anticipated MCU anything this year, I swear.

So the Ten Rings are also a weapon? Not just a name for an underground organization?

Yes and it looks like Marvel learned from the constant criticism of there trope of making the villain have the exact same powers as the hero….. now the hero has the exact same powers as the villain :ninja:
See it’s different this time
No but in all honesty I’m super excited for this movie
-
Is Wong fighting the Abomination? It’s some sorcerer, and it makes sense for a prominent established Asian Marvel character to also be part of the film.
It makes sense the end scene is making such a huge splash given the surprise and the unexpected cameo, but the rest of the trailer looks great too. Shame toys revealed some of this stuff already like the dragon appearing; that cgi looks much better than the lion has been looking in the trailers.
Also, between this trailer and the teaser trailer, I feel like I have a better feel for this film than Black Widow’s film.
-
Couldn't finish the Shang Chi clip from some months back. Definitely dodging this one. Too many spoilers. Feels like i've figured out too much.

Well, does this mean Shang-Chi will have the Ten Rings as a weapon for future movies? Or will he destroy them in this one? Only time will tell. Or previous comics that I haven't read.

Apparently it is! Makes sense that the Sorcerer Supreme and his allies would be interested in what the Ten Rings are doing.
-
So, they are turning the Mandarin's finger rings into these armrings? Or they were different artifacts all along?
-
I've never been happy to see the Abomination, but I'm glad to see him here. Seeing villians from other hero series can lead to some good possibilities.
Yet, and this is just me, I'm a bit sour we never got to see Captain America judo toss the Hulk when it seems like this Shang-Chi can fight someone that strong on his own. Eh, but I guess you can't have everything.

this is just my guess, but it looks like this underground fighting ring gets interrupted or something happens before Shang Chi and the Abomination even fight. I think in the previews it shows him fighting someone else, some Asian woman, in the ring, but other shots look like there’s chaos in the crowd, like the place was ambushed? Maybe by the Mandarin’s men?
What I’m getting at though is I’m unsure if the story would show Shang Chi being able to go toe to toe with the abomination.
-
I’m just not understanding why they changed the Mandarins rings into arm bands, there’s definitely a reason for it I just don’t know what it is
Also in the comics Shang Chi uses chi, like a lot, but here I can’t tell if he’s using chi or if he’s just insanely well trained like Batman, it would be a big missed opportunity if they left chi, I mean it’s literally in his name

Kinda wondering what's the hold up with confirming the Avengers 5.
-
New Saga, more new characters to introduce. Gotta establish what all this is. Can't go big again like how they used to, so early.
Finally getting the series side of the universe right after allowing Marvel Television studio to make the ABC and Netflix shows. Now using film support like Wanda to establish the extended streaming series world is the method. Many on Marvel Studios r/ can't let go of the fact that the ABC and Netflix shows aren't "canon" or whatever they want to call it. None of the films acknowledged the shows. I love those shows as well, but that's the truth.
1st 3 films are establishing 2 newer entities and giving Nat the respect she should have gotten years ago.
The 3 after are team ups to satisfy that need for Avengers.
- Peter, his support and Strange
- Thor, his support and Guardians
- Strange, his support and Wanda
After Endgame, does it even make sense to go big again with the amount of characters involved? Is it right to even call them Avengers? Fury brought them together by using Thor and mostly Steve and Tony as centerpieces.
They weren't perfect, but it made sense. Everyone is still dealing with their own issues, which is heavy on it's own. Makes more sense to use the smaller team up formula until the right treatment for a overarching narrative is completed.
They most likely have a plan. I honestly wanted solo Magneto, Venom, She Hulk, Kraven and Mandarin films when the Singer and Raimi films were ending. Didn't know which studio owned what. Then they hit me with an Iron Man film. Not what I wanted, but it was cool. Then they said there would be some interconnected universe and I just rolled with it. I didn't care for studios until Disney took the films from Paramount with Avengers.
It feels like the beginning again where they have a plan and i'm just waiting to see and judge it.
-
I kind of feel like we won't get an Avengers 5 until after Multiverse of Madness and No Way Home, assuming that those films set up a face for the new big bad. Right now we don't really have a fully assumed crisis ala Loki, Hydra/Ultron, Civil War or Thanos.
-
Kinda wondering what's the hold up with confirming the Avengers 5.
Give it time to breathe after the last two. Build up the new characters, let audiences miss the giant crossover for a while.
You can't follow up a behemoth like Endgame with something "only" like the first Avengers. (Even though that's still the best one, Cap costume aside.)
Especially if the next step is Dark Avengers or Young Avengers.
Or if obviously impending multiverse shenanigans let them do… things.
-
The Dad training his son to grow up and be an assassin and being disappointed in him when he doesn’t want to reminds me so much of Killua and his family from Hunter X Hunter
Also if Shang Chi doesn’t use chi in this and is just extremely well trained like a Batman type character, I’ll be extremely disappointed (I mean it’s literally in his name)
Although they do show a Woman waving her arms around and controlling the wind along with a Lion Dog and what looks like a dragon and water freezing mid air so it doesn’t look like they have a problem with the mystical aspect
Also who will be the members of the next Avengers movie? I mean we have tons of characters now, especially with the TV shows, and who will lead them
I wonder how the ten rings will work in the move, it doesn’t seem like there going the traditional route, with each ring having a different power
-
Next Avengers only after FF and X-men are on the rooster.
-
IGN's Black Widow review is out and it seems to be a somber approach to the super-hero genre and quite unique among Marvel's movies. I'm curious to watch it.
-
First 90s reviews and the tomatometer is at 84%. I call that pretty good.

Loki
! we went from 3 (dead-by-thanos, our and sylvie) lokis to at least 6 (7 if you count the animal) Lokis, not counting the 3 holograms ones because they could overlap with old loki, any chance the actual villain is also a loki who is executing their plan of destroying the evils of free will on a universal scale?

Have you guys noticed there’s plenty of characters in Marvel comics who can use and or manipulate chi, but I can’t think of a single DC character who can
My friend thinks that’s because if chi existed in DC comics and was tied to martial arts (like it usually is) Batman would have to have mastered it, As he masters everything martial arts related, which would then make him super human taking away from the whole Batman is just a regular man thing
-
Bruce knowing how to use chi would be nice. It's better than him just being broken and boring as it is.
-

A regular man in peak physical condition, genius level intellect, (formerly) worth billions of dollars, disciplined in various martial arts, can speak multiple languages.

When I said regular guy I meant he had no super powers
-
Regulars guys also don’t generally have the those other advantages Bruce have.
-
Shiebs knows that, Bruce is "regular" compared to his team. You can easily grasp that from his words, let it go.

Kevin Feige confirms that the guys fighting in the cage are indeed The Abomination and Wong:

Also I'm still not sure if this version of Shang Chi can actually use the power of chi, or if he's just super well trained as an assassin
Against the Abomination without chi, just trained as a high level assassin, I'd say he stands no chance…. with Chi, I think he could stay in the fight a little longer
BUT... if he gets the ten rings at the end of this, he could def stand a chance
do we think that scene is at the end of the movie or more of the half way
-
No idea. But if Wong is there too, he has a magic ally at his side.

-
…Huh. Didn't know this was going to be animated.
-
kay, I normally don't care for the What IF? stuff because it is 99.9% of the time just used to have a sad ending tragedy version of events, and Exiles did it better by having a core group of characters to carry an ongoing plot through the alternate realities…
but I do have to admit they got me with "What if Tony was saved by Killmonger" because that's just so freaking out there.
