Are you telling me this virus, which was a democratic hoax, has infected our dear leader? The democrats are truly horrible, such far left extremists.
American Politics: A Brand New Day
-
-
Well, one can only hope then that Biden will give some kind of confirmation in the next day or so, one way or the other.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I can't even put into words how much I hate this year. Even the good news is bad news.
-
I do wonder about that, though. I get the feeling that he wouldn't have admitted to having it so easily if it were true.
If he'd caught it in March he maybe could have hidden it.
A month before the election and when he's supposed to be out and about and have two more debates he can't hide it.
-

That would depend on how asymptomatic and mild his case is, I think. But I see your point.
I still think there's a chance that he could be lying about having it in the first place. I see a lot of reasons for him to do so, though I can't say I think any of them are particularly sane.
-
The October surprise came pretty early this time.
-
What happens if both candidates die of this, because it looks like October is going IN.
-
If he dies, The RNC is allowed to replace him with whoever they want which probably would be Pence considering he's already VP and would technically be the incumbent at that point.
They'd have to scramble to get the official ballots changed everywhere and in fact, they probably wouldn't so a "Trump Pence" ticket would probably still win several states.
Any Electors from those states who are at that point officially sworn to cast their votes for Trump would actually then be free to vote for whoever they want. Like, even moreso than normal but there would be heavy pressure from the right to insist they just vote for whoever Trump's replacement is (again, assuming Pence).
This is all however EXTREMELY theoretical as it has LITERALLY never happened before which is why nobody ever bothered to make sure it would be easy to swap out the person on the ballot in the event of a death for example.
-
I have said for month that Trump is too dumb to catch the corona virus…. looks like I was wrong...
-
Yeah this weekend is gonna be great. Karma actually works for once.
-
Worth noting, military E-6planes were put in place on both coasts 30 minutes before the announcement officially went out.
And if he was faking they would have waited till markets closed to avoid a crash.
It's almost certainly real, though they held the news as long as they could.
If Trump wanted to change a news story or avoid something, he could have done literally anything else. THis was one announcement he never would have gone with if there was any choice.
-
There is a high amount of health that can be bought, but an even greater part that must be worked and make sacrifices for. Don’t let the infection point of the assistant disappear in the news cycle.
Other populist have used their disease and last breath to become symbols, and if he overcomes this the news cycle would make it into a heroic tale. Best scenario is for him to stay down for the whole month, and then croak after losing, so any shenanigans on the transition period be extra sketchy.
-
Dear Covid
You get a pass on this one.
-Love America <3
-
Despite the massive blow to the ego, this will change squat about Trump's views on Covid. I didn't for Bolsonaro. They only thing that can come out it is he being a little less vocal on his opinions.

Maybe he really disliked that measures were to be taken after his constant interruptions in the first debate.
-Can't do what I want? Sorry I got the flu, not going anymore.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Oh…. oh.... heh... heh....... hahahahahahahahahaahahaha.I ran outta data during my night shift at work, I just heard it on the radio on my way home, I can totally relate to this reaction.
-
when i heard his aid got it while i was at work, i said to myself i wouldn't be surprised if Trump got it by now. last night i was surprised.
-
What wonderful news to wake up to.
-
It's like, yes, I know, it is not morally right to wish death and suffering onto a person.
…..But fuck, Trump makes it so easy.
-
I'm sure Biden was also getting tested as soon as news of this hit, even before it hit news stations.
Unless…
CONFIRMED: There was no contact from the Trump campaign or the White House to alert the Biden campaign of possible exposure. The campaign learned of the situation from the news reports, a Biden campaign aide tells me.
-
My prediction of what the electoral map shall be. Not sure about Iowa, but for now I give that to Trump. I'm going for the long haul and say Biden get Texas, but I'm very confident he probably get GA.
-
What happens if both candidates die of this, because it looks like October is going IN.
Harris, Pence, The Thunderdome.
Two candidates enter. One candidate leaves.
-
I'm still confident that Trump won't get Electoral-College'ed twice in row, since no president has unlocked said achievemient and I don't feel like this one will be the first to do so.
-

Well, from what I read, the polls during 2016 did not put in account people who did not have a college degree and who were not educated, and it seems this time around they have that demographic, so the polls are more accurate this time around.
-
Even though it's nice to think about let's be real that Trump is HIGHLY unlikely to die from this, since as Robby pointed out he has the best health care in the country at his disposal. And it won't likely change his opinion about it either because he's a stubborn jackass, but now he cannot deny its spreadability because all you have to do is point a finger at him and say, "YOU got it."
-

Is this the Mad Max original or the WWE knockoff?
-
Unless…
Silly me, I forgot. EVERYONE in the Trump group is a fucking selfish asshole with no concern for others.

I haven't checked polling any of those other spots, but Biden is not winning Texas. So stop even considering that. Trump is up by 4 points and in Texas that means he's going to win by half a million to a million votes. Biden might get 4 million Texas votes but that won't be near enough. (Which is of course, more votes than the entire population of some smaller states, but…)
Florida is a complete toss up as always but if Biden gets that Trump has almost no path to victory.
-
I saw that Biden and his wife have tested negative for COVID. That's a relief!
-
Thank god…
-
October is on our side.

Right, I know, but Trump is only winning by four points in Texas, but I know what you told me in the past about it. Georgia right now is 50/50, so I'm guess it be Biden's maybe.
Florida is a complete toss up as always but if Biden gets that Trump has almost no path to victory.
Yeah, though from polls Biden is winning by a few points.
I used this site by the way to determine my prediction lol: https://projects.economist.com/us-2020-forecast/president

Woo, that's good.

Schumer, in rare move, takes control of floor to force health care vote
https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/29/politics/chuck-schumer-forces-health-care-vote/index.html
Are you telling me… the minority leader can force a vote any time they want and they just never do because of DECORUM?!??!
That in fact, ANY senator can do this?
Why did they not move on Merrick Garland four years ago after McConnell had already stalled it for three months?
I understand you can't do this on every single bill or make every single vote a senate shut down fight, even when McConnell is blocking literally hundreds of things from even going to a vote, and yet they never use this tool in their toolbox on the last decade of obstruction.... just because?!?!
Am I missing something here? Is there a really bad reason to not use this more often than once a decade besides the fact you don't want the other guys doing it when you're in power?
It's that kind of thing that motivates my cynicism towards the Democratic Party.
Why is it they never seem to be out there fighting full force to do the right thing?I saw that Biden and his wife have tested negative for COVID. That's a relief!
It's a bit early to be reassured by that.
Trump tested negative at the debate and he was showing symptoms at the time, so he'd probably been infected at least a week prior. -
I don't want Trump to die from this.
He can't escape justice that easily.
But on behalf of over 200,000 dead Americans, I hope he enjoys some terror-filled days to come.
I want the full force of law to come down on him and his gangster crime syndicate and have him see everything fall apart, and have his billion dollars in debts come due.
-
Some detail on Trump's tax returns and the laws he almost certainly broke
-
Something separate from all the current news I thought might be appreciated, and I'll likely repost once things calm down some, a podcast I listen to, Timesuck ended its latest episode with a plug for a site that offers quick at-a- glance "fors" and "againsts" on candidates' stance on topic. I haven't explored it enough yet to know if they go farther than presidential, but here it is for anyone interested:

I've had a day to absorb this, and you know what's great about Trump getting COVID? We have at least a few weeks where he won't be out campaigning and holding rallies. He's gone, at least for a little while. What a gift, and what a great time for it.
-
Well, that glee didn't last long. Recently had it pointed out to me that when Boris Johnson got and recovered from COVID it sparked a "Patriotic" boost in support…
That's what this is. Fuck.
As if he needed the help.
-
Sympathy bump from…who, exactly?
And >8 points worth of sympathy, at that.
-
He does need the help, Rin. A lot of us have been trying to say that to you for a while. Trump is in a very, very bad position for an incumbent president, and Biden's lead has been strong and steady for almost an entire year. This situation is nothing like the one that we had in 2016.
And I highly doubt that it will work out as well for him as it did Johnson.
-
Trump is officially a lame duck now. If not soon to be a dead duck as well.
This election is over.
-
It's dangerous to count trumpy out at any stage before biden is being sworn in. When is an animal most dangerous after all?
Right now he's wounded, with his back against a wall and everything to lose. Let's not forget that.
-
It's hard to predict these things because the Trump administration is so unprecedented.
Now if only he could be unpresidented.
…Sorry, I just wanted to make that joke.
-

Trump is not going to get that boost.
For one thing, Trump unfortunately has no good reason to promote mask wearing or any other reasonable precautionary measure against the virus.
He decided long ago to sell out America for an election win, and reversing that won't help him.
His supporters also aren't complete sheep, and a large number will side with the anti-mask, anti-shutdown cause over him.Second, Trump's popularity always suffers when he takes long breaks without preaching to his flock.
A cult leader is as much a slave to his followers as they are to him, and what they desperately need is constant, ritualistic validation of their views.
If Trump fails to provide that for long enough they'll look elsewhere. -

Especially since Trump doesn’t have an issue a number of people feel strongly about propping him up like Johnson does.

Besides general xenophobia, white supremacy, and willful ignorance.
-
He is being flown to Walter Reed Military Medical Center.
Welp.
-
He's being hospitalized???
-
Either he's taken a bad turn or they're not taking any chances.
-
Damn…what are the odds pence beats biden? Just in case.

Not high since this whole election is about Covid.
