One Piece Color Walk 9 will be out soon (interview with Eisaku Kubonouchi)

Awesome! And that means that the next English Compendium from Viz can come out that much sooner (Color Walk #7-9) Though of course I won't expect it til next year
-
Yeah I'm pretty happy for the prospect of a third English compendium coming sooner rather than later.
Also, most reasonable-sounding estimates for the series ending, from Oda's five more years to assuming volume 60 is the actual halfway point, all put the ending in the ballpark of volume 120, which would be perfect for another three Colour Walks after this one. Viz may just have set themselves up for a perfectly even compendium set. Fingers crossed.

Color walk V.9 will release summer 2020.

Color Walk 9 will release on 4th of September with Volume 97, This time Called Tiger.

Damn, it looks sooooo good! Can't wait to get my hands on it. Oda's colour spreads with the Straw Hats are always a delight to see and these colour walks are always good value. Marvellous paper quality. Money well spend.

Here is my translation of Oda’s heartwarming message in ONE PIECE Color Walk 9 released today.
Oda: When I was 6-8 years old, I got the best “special prize” in a painting contest in my prefecture. The theme of the prize was “my dream”.
I made a drawing of myself riding on a big beetle. The beetle was flying above a town at night with his eyes glowing.
So cool! When I received a winner certificate proudly on a stage, I was very surprised to see other prize-winning paintings. They drew “myself becoming businessman (nurse/police officer)”. Now it makes sense!
I ended up realizing the theme of the contest and felt embarrassed. But all adults just praised me with smile.I still remember their smiles than the embarrassment I felt.
I, as a never-growing-up man, can finally publish my 9th illustration book!
Thank you so much for your support!!
[hide][/hide]By the way, here is my translation of Oda’s comments about his color spreads along with my summary of his interview in Color Walk 9.
-
It is known that Oda drew not only characters but also backgrounds.
According to Oda, how wind blows or how snow falls reflect characters or author’s emotion, which is why he doesn’t let his staff drew backgrounds. -
When Oda started OP, he kept in mind that he should not have a girlfriend to focus on his work.

[/hide]Excuse me Sandman, but I don't know if I correctly understood the last two line of the last picture. Oda doesn't care to draw the Mugiwara Pirate at the beach but he only want to draw them in swimsuit?

"I don't care about guys on a beach!"
I fucking love Oda.

Gracias Redon for all the pictures!
Can you tell me which is the last color spread in the artbook? It's the one from chapter 921, isn't it?
I had a hope the color spread from chapter 929 would be included but I don't think it is :wassat:.
-
this one covers which volumes?

this one covers which volumes?
First cover in there is the one of volume 82, last one is volume 91. And yes, chapter 921 color spread is the chronological last one in there.

Thank you! That's what I thought.
It's logical since chapter 929 was released in 2019, and the CW9 includes content up to 2018. But I had some hope

A little late on this one but god, Oda's comment warms my heart. I wish I could see the world through his eyes, he's a truly one-of-a-kind creative soul. And the book looks absolutely gorgeous besides. Hopefully the third English colour walk compendium isn't far off now that this is out.

Are you talking about what Sandman translated or the interview with Kubonouchi which I have not seen being translated ?

The comment, yeah. I think I glanced at the word interview in the thread title while I was typing and got a wire crossed lmao
