On a serious note tho i am fairly certain that Saldeth is based on Snusmumriken of Moomin fame
Now that i think about it i may be overestimating the odds that Oda has seen an old Finnish cartoon. But he does really remind me of him

Put a crown on that thing and you got the silhouette of Im. :ninja:
A rival counterpart anyways. A different Mother Goddess, or corrupted gestalt of deities such as Cybele and…others.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cybele
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seat_of_Wisdom Mary's Joy? More like Mary's Lament
But I digress.
It doesn't have to be a giant tho, it seems Elbaf is perfectly fine with other peoples to live there as soon as they don't kill any of their patriarchs.
Possibilities are endless, of course. But I think it'd be poetically fitting if the last crew member to join were a giant/Oars type giant, given one of the principle players who set things in motion so long ago was likely one himself. Things coming full circle in lots of ways.
That definitely doesn't fit the Sunny's doors.
Now that i think about it i may be overestimating the odds that Oda has seen an old Finnish cartoon. But he does really remind me of him
Maybe Oda watched this version
Carrot = Kya-ro-tto
Now that doesn't help anyone. :ninja:

Gonna need a bigger boat. Good excuse as any to build something that can take on Pluton: the Going Dragon.
Or who knows, Oda could always throw a Dwarf Giant at us. Not the same as Tontatta Giant, cuz I would probably kill myself in that case.
Only crew member joining pattern I kind of believe in is the 2.9 devil fruit theory
Anayways, I've always been of the idea that Vegapunk is behind the Space Pirates.
But I only realized now that it means Vegapunk's responsible for the death of that one old man who created the Automatas.
Is there a summary of that theory? I've never looked up what it was about.

Unless Oda had some completely suitable power lined up to conform with that from the beginning, I don't buy it. It seems like everything decent that could fit has been used already.

I don’t know how to explain it without sounding like a crazy person so I’ll let someone else do it
@Shift:

This is true, but it just seems like a weird coincidence to me and the fact that Oda personally commented about it in SBS was definitely different but I suppose it could just be Oda being a goofball or leading us in the wrong direction
The number theory is fan insanity, until you realize the numbers also add up to Su-ni-go, which just about feels too crazy to be a coincidence.
Of course Oda actually let that get printed instead of waiting for the last to show up, so he's sort of teased with things that could fit it since then… which is just... a tease.
Don't bother, found it on reddit.
Seems pretty inconsistent to me.
Tama has the 2.9 DF ;)
@Ghidorah:
Maybe Oda watched this version
Oh wow i didn't realize that it had a following outside of northern europe.
But i guess it makes sense, moomins are cute, Japanese people like cute.

the japanese made most of the tv shows of moomins so it was probably popular over there too, just like with vicky the viking.
So, two can be read as "ni" or "futatsu" and nine as "kyū" and "kokonotsu".
Nikyū is the obvious choise, because of Kuma.
But what if, you take the "fu" from "futatsu" and the "kyū"… oh never mind... :ninja:

theres a lot of different combinations that works so its quite hard to guess what it would be.
as I said like 10 times before , Tama might have the tsuku tsuku (2.9) no mi, tsuku basically meaning
or kyuji kyuji (also 2.9) no mi, meaning

The "kyu" of 9 can also be shortened to "ku", so Kinemon's presumed Fuku Fuku no Mi does technically fit the pattern.
I've elaborated before why I don't particularly see him joining the crew (wife, plus responsibilities to the Kozuki clan), but just tossing it out there.
I see, you didn't get my joke…
The possibilities of 2.9, considering 2 can be written as: Yu, Ni and Fu and 9 can be written as Ku, Ki and Kyu. And even within those, words can have multiple meanings… and as we've seen with Kuma, Oda can take something like "paw" and make it crazy.
Yuku- walk, travel
Yuki (monet)- snow
YuKyu-eternity, idle, salaried
Niku-meat (Luffy would obviously love that)
Niki-pimple
Nikyu (kuma)- paw
Fuku-(kinemon)- duplicate, clothes
Fuki-unexpected, lawlessness, freedom (certainly fit the theme)
Fukyu-diffusion, spread
Notably however, Kuma's fruit comes from Nikukyu, "Nikyu" by itself doesn't actually mean anything, so if he's willing to throw in an extra syllable and then simplify it, there's a toooooon more possibilities and you'd need a much better grasp of japanese than I have to even know where to start..
like Niki being pimple isn't gonna be it, but... Funiki is "atmosphere" and thats something that can be worked with.
Also, if you make it 9.2 instead of 2.9 that opens it up even more, and Brook and Robin both set that precedent.
Kuyu- ???
Kiyu- bright, play, hope
Kyuyu- classmate
kuni- country, black stone, long time (obviously we have Wano Kuni)
kini- gracious, beautiful
kyuni-sudden
kufu0 ??? (kung fu?)
kifu- donation, contribution, endowment
kyufu- great riches
And then on top of all that you get even more alternatives like tsu... Oda can do whatever the hell he wants and get away with it.
fu kyu?! xD
you dont even need to look at the story circumstances on why kinemon isnt joining, he is not straw hat material.
and for u peeps who havnt seen the devil fruit numbers theory before, it was in a sbs
D: Odacchi! I noticed an amazing thing!!! It is that if you show the Straw Hat Devil Fruit users in numbers, it will be the numbers from 1~10!!
Luffy→Gomu Gomu (5.6.5.6.), Chopper→Hito Hito (1.10.1.10), Robin→Hana Hana (8.7.8.7.), Brook→Yomi Yomi (4.3.4.3.)
(1.3.4.5.6.7.8.10), but there is no (2.9), so is the one who ate the Nikyu Nikyu (2.9.2.9.) no Mi, Bartholomew Kuma, gonna be a Straw Hat next? Please tell me!!! P.N. SHANKUS.LOVE
O: WHAAAAAT?! (shock) Gosh that surprised me! Why was I surprised?! NO COMMENTTTTTTT!!!!!!!! NEXT!!
I'm so glad i'm not Japanese so i don't have to keep track of all these pun opportunities
Unless Oda had some completely suitable power lined up to conform with that from the beginning, I don't buy it. It seems like everything decent that could fit has been used already.
Is completly possible that the Nikyu Nikyu does joins the crew since;
•Kuma hasn't used the fruit since the timeskip
•Kuma is biologically dead and should no longer have it
•Vegapunk is quite acquinted with DF's, he could have extracted it anyways
•The SH's must jump from Laugh Tale(theorically close to Reverse Mountain) to the other side of the world Mariejoa/Gyojin Island at some point.
So, there really isn't need for a someone, just the fruit alone does the trick.
or kyuji kyuji (also 2.9) no mi, meaning
- feeding (an animal)
If I translate "kyuji" with google translator I get "ball child" as result… that's something, I guess.
Fuki-unexpected, lawlessness, freedom (certainly fit the theme)
That one already sounds like Belo Betty's Kobu-Kobu powers, encouraging people, rallying them to fight. I know Oda has made similar powers before, but I can't see how something like a freedom power would be distinctly different. I think the snow one would have been most likely, as a Logia is the one kind of fruit the crew doesn't have. The rest are quite a stretch.
the japanese made most of the tv shows of moomins so it was probably popular over there too, just like with vicky the viking.
I guess thats true. But i mean mentally it was a Miyazaki moment for me, like why would they be watching our weird little slice of life show, does it hold appeal for them etc. But hey according to wikipedia they really liked it.

that is what I'm thinking he did with Tama her possibly tsuku tsuku no mi, it might be derived from natsuku
Definition of 懐く,なつく,なずく,なづく
Godan verb with `ku' ending, transitive verb
especially since he mentioned the word natsuku in sbs 63, saying tama and hitetsu became emotionally attached to the tanuki teapot, like it would be a little hint but no one (except me) gets it
Is completly possible that the Nyiku Nyiku does joins the crew since;

Kuma was "dead" as early as Marineford, and he was still using his powers there. We have no evidence to indicate that his powers have gone anywhere, as of yet.
But I agree, one of the existing crew acquiring a 2-9 fruit is definitely a possibility.
and Carrot is fittingly using paw-like weapons :ninja: maybe Shift will jump on the theory now?
If Carrot gets the Paw fruit, especially if it changes her design a bit, than I'm all in.
The Sunny does fit the fruit very well, its a lion(so it fits the paws), and its the vehicle in which the SH's would be travelling from Laugh Tale to Mariejoa.
But I still think it should sink if it gets a fruit :/
Also, it fits the Sunny vs San Juan Wolf too since we have seen the Nikyu Nikyu crushing a giant already.
Wait, what's all this talk about "2.9"?
Oda put in a lot of work for Sabo to receive Ace's fruit and BB to receive WBs'. Kuma isn't even dead yet.
How does that work?
Part of it was posted above by Solid. Essentially, you can convert the syllables that make up the Japanese names of the Strawhat crew's Devil Fruits to numbers between 1 and 10 (with the exception of 2 and 9, which are currently missing).

The other part is that, if you add those numbers together (56+110+87+43) and then add a 29 as well, the total comes out to 325 (san-ni-go -> Sunny-go, the name of their ship).
Consequently, if we're getting a new DF-using crew member (or just a new DF for one of the existing crew members), the theory states we should expect it to follow a 2-9 naming scheme (like Kuma's Nikyu Nikyu, Monet's Yuki Yuki, or Kinemon's Fuku Fuku).

Funky. Queen the Balloon Dinosaur finds a new rival in a groovy Blimp Man.
I'm convinced Tama has the Kyuji Kyuji no Mi, and I hope that theory is correct.
Would suck for my number one Pekoms, though.
But number two would do just fine.

finally you are officially joining the winning team
An astronomer is, historically accurate in piracy, and much more helpful than a Lookout if there are some moon/space stuff we would need to figure out.
Arguably it would make sense that such position have been kept a secret for so long, given is a massive spoiler to have an astronomer and being aware that there will be space stuff in the future.
Anywas, with Monet being suppper evil, dead, and left behind in the no one cares zone, we don't have anyone else to chew on the possibility to get an Astronomer in the crew.
We can only hope for Yamato to have a cool telescope and he's in.
I could see an Astronomer on the crew. In fact, the Astronomer could also be the Lookout. Some overlapping skillz. Might as well throw in Nightwatch.
Only other candidate is X Drake. Likes Astrophysics. A dinosaur zoan user. Scars.. etc… Unique enough. But he's a Supernova (3 Supernovas in the crew necessary?), double agent for the Marines as the Captain of SWORD. BUT...he is probably teaming up with Law..hmm..both influenced by pirates and Marines who share a life altering experience. At best, I see him as an ally for this raid, Vegapunk arc, and space arc. Which means more Koby! Unofficial 0th member. Why not, Vivi's 5.5. :ninja:
Tomato, Tomahto, Yamato will probably be a runt. Kaido doesn't seem to like his son. And Kaido's all about strength. Maybe Yamato's reveal may change my expectations of him but I doubt it.
Astronomer though would have to be NEEDED by the crew. And the only reason I can think of for a space adventure is the last Road Poneglyph. Besides a fun adventure for Luffy which could be enough in itself , what reason should the Strawhats go to space?
Side question: What would be the Astronomers dream? Crazy thought: Dream is to go to space and is the FIRST crewmate to experience their dream!

Thanks for clarifying.
Funnily enough, I got interested because my theory about next crewmate has a 2.9 (or 9.2) in it, but it's not DF-related, lol.
Well everyone has a personal place in the Sunny, but there's an observatory with a telescope that is no one's favorite place(yet).
Might be a hint? Like how the aquarium would be Jinbro's place in the ship.
finally you are officially joining the winning team
Is there a secret handshake?
Like pinching our cheeks or something? :ninja:
@.access:
The 9 is definitely there, but I don't know about the yu = 2 part.
Fair enough.
Could've sworn I'd heard someone claim that it fit, but I'd have to go hunting to confirm. Entirely possible that I'm wrong on that one.
