DK64 was great as a kid. I got 100% completion (or 102 or whatever) multiple times. Loved the minigames.

DK64 didn't done anything too much different from Banjo-Kazooie and Mario 64, so I don't get the hate.
-
That's part of what I believe the hate stems from it was like Banjo-Kazooie only not really as fun or immersive.
-
Can't play certain games because the camera gives me nausea. Notably rare 3d games and katamari damaci.
-
DK64 aged worse than the BK games, mostly because of the sheer amount of filler in it. The game is cluttered with character-locked collectibles, tons of barely-used mechanics, backtracking for upgrades/depositing blueprints/finding banana fairies and too many reused minigames. The BK games had some of the same issues, too, but not nearly to the same extent (I have no trouble replaying them about once a year).
I really enjoyed DK64 as a kid, because the worlds are cool, the music is great, platforming with five very different characters is a lot of fun, and I even enjoyed some of the minigames (not you, beaver bother), but it's a slog to go through now.
-
I got 101% on DK64 when it came out on Wii U and loved it.
-
I loved DK64 back when it came out, I couldnt get past the second world on wii u…
-
Damnit, just heard Cyrus theme from octopath a year later, and damn scholar and imbecile, I love him. Like it’s one of those characters that is just meh but his actual core motivation is so awe inspiring that I can’t but admire someone who lives by those ideals.

Finally starting my playthrough of the Link's Awakening remake.
Am I losing it or is it just totally not obvious at all that you're supposed to light torches with magic dust?
-
I guess it's not necessarily automatically intuitive, but the witch does tell you to try it in her hut, which has torches.

I figured. That's what I get for skimming through the text (total Arin Hanson moment for me right there).

Is it sad I wanted Goddamn Superhero to be a real game?
-
Since the first No More Heroes there have been plenty of fake outs during the trailers and they always manage to one up themselves, with this one going above and beyond with all the licenses and even an incredibly convincing designed logo (that will probably be a minigame of sorts with the Death Drive).
Travis Strikes Again got looked down by many so called fans of the series due to the perspective (the horror!) but it proved to be a well directed spin off that set up the story for 3. Suda is also the writer and 1 of 3 directors unlike NMH2 where he was just a producer of sorts, and the groundwork seems incredibly sincere and well laid out (Henry's plot from TSA in particular looks promising as well as Shinobu and possibly even Bad Girl roles).
As a side note, hopefully NMH3 will retain the character development Travis got from TSA that many are unaware of, where despite his nastiness he is also an incredible nostalgic person and deeply passionate about videogames with some deep thoughts about them.

With all the new remasters and remakes being made am I the only one hoping Nintendo redoes Donkey Kong country 64?
And they better not take out the song if they do it, I used to be able to recite that perfectly
The Wii U Virtual Console release doesn't count?
I mean, if they just went ahead and did Donkey Kong Country Returns 3rd Dimension or something clever with its title to denote that it's going to be a return to the non-2D platforming formula, that could be fun. Plus since the first game covered lots of standard areas they could use different dimensions so they weren't limited to just what's on DK Island. If they're not going to give a hefty amount of Super Mario Odyssey DLC they could at least give us something like that.

Somewhat irrelevant bump
But playing through Earthbound again after beating the game a long ass time ago and all I got to ask is why in the blue hell is the balance so fucked up in the early game?
Between Frank and his crew, The Rowdy Mice that love to critical every other hit, and the Gauntlet match in the police station this game is on some bullshit.
-
Is this True!?! Is No More Heroes 3 open world?!?

Wonderful 101 for Switch teased possibly
!
Platinum games tweeted this image of Kamiya (the Wonderful 101 dev). The bottom left of the first comp screen the time and date are both 101.
-
If they do make it I hope it’s less awkward to play.
-
Yes. All the yes.
Wonderize: Yes! -

I'll see you and raise you the part where Ness has to go on that bizarre journey by himself that I was completely unprepared for and am now incapable of getting past.

I don't know how I feel about it being a massive kickstarter with huge stretch goals and an impossibly complex series of physical rewards. I probably won't back it but I'm curious to play it since I skipped it on Wii U for whatever reason.
-
It was the standard platinum game, plus the pikmin like mechanic, the (sentai hero/kamen raider/viewtiful joe) coat of style, and the intrusive Wii U touchpad events for flavor. Not mind blowing, not bad, not as difficult as their sibling games.

Am I the only one who really loves the alien designs from the new no more heroes game? At least from what we've seen of it?
then again I also loved most of the assassins designs from the previous games?
What were your guys favorite assassins in the other games?
-
For all the Phoenix Wright fans, this looks even cooler:

The only thing missing was voice acting.

Well the demo didn't really endear it to me so I assume it probably failed to impress others much as well?

I mean, if that was the backdrop to a Nintendo Labo VR goggles sequel to Nintendoland, I'd buy the damn goggles just for that game. If they could make it look as sharp and solid as, say, Astro Bot, it would probably become the Switch's most iconic thing. I mean, til the next Zelda.

Animal Crossing Direct is on Thursday at 9a.m. EST

Lol I just found out about why they call the alien companion in the No More Heroes 3 FU
FU are the next letters after ET

It is a weird Japanese rakugou/old timey traditional comedy, about someone stacking like 30 names on top of a… child? Or a monkey? Starting with Jugem. Like every time that the narrator describes someone seeing Jugem, they add another name on top, and the narrator continues stacking them on top.

They are doing a remaster of N64's Shadow Man for Switch and other platforms….Why?
-
Where's my Rocket: Robot on Wheels remaster?
-
There is only one remaster from the N64 era that the world needs. That the world deserves.

is it just me or has the VC series with Nintendo died out again?
Haven't seen much of a update on the switch online series..but thought there would be more on the NES and SNES collections. -
is it just me or has the VC series with Nintendo died out again?
Haven't seen much of a update on the switch online series..but thought there would be more on the NES and SNES collections. After SNES games were finally released they announced that games would be coming less often, 'when they feel like it'.
It really says something that 90% of my retro gaming this month has been on my Wii U.
-
Has anyone heard anything new on the No More Heroes game coming to the switch?
I heard it's gonna be Open World video game and I honestly can't wait, I love the original two and I'm pumped for what they do with this one

–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I guess this would have been an April announcement if not for certain global pandemic. Still seems pretty soon, but then again the calendar is empty after armor isle.
-
Paper Mario out of nowhere.
-
It looks Sticker Star 3.
Boooo!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Waiting for Arlo's meltdown.
-
As long as they don’t have a battle system that can randomly fuck on you or a navigator/assistant character who sucks it will be better by default than Sticker Star.
-
I never played Sticker Star, but I did finish Color Splash. I thought it was a nice game, which, while not as good as the first three Paper Mario games, was not a waste of money. I got it relatively cheap (around 20 bucks) and I enjoyed most of it, especially the music. Lets see, if Origami King is better.
-
"Me? Well…I'm Bob-omb. Not Bobbery, not Bombette, not Omby Bobaloo. Just...Bob-omb."
-
Well, that trailer's good enough to trick me into thinking and hoping it's gonna be a return to quality for Paper Mario.
Can't wait to be massively disappointed again when it's just an overpriced 3ds quality game like Color Splash again. Passable, but nothing special or warranting return playthroughs.
-
"Me? Well…I'm Bob-omb. Not Bobbery, not Bombette, not Omby Bobaloo. Just...Bob-omb."
This was the moment in the trailer where all my expectations and good-will died.
