@Robby:
Brennen was convincing on Jinbe before he even appeared on camera, and convinced me on him within a couple of chapters, in spite of the design and personality no one was really taken with.
Meaning that how Oda handled Jinbe had absolutely zero weight on how convincing his case was. You keep pulling Brennen and Jinbe as an example, but I think it really works against your point every time you bring it up.
You pick details on how Oda has been handling Carrot, her interactions and how much individual attention she got and then tries to close it by calling "Jinbe was convincing even before he appeared". Before Jinbe appeared the only thing that he had going for him was "he was a character planned and introduced long ago and he stands by his convictions". If that alone made his case strong, then basically everything you pick against Carrot goes out of the window and becomes just bias.
And…
@Shift:
Oh, I'm not wrong, the author's wrong. What a laugh!
This.
Actually, I realized Carrot REALLY did had big chances when the "if she joins it's not that I got Oda wrong, it's Oda that got himself wrong. I will still be on the right" types of strategy started surfacing on those going against her.
(I don't see how that stance can be read as "disrespectful" to the Carrot supporters, though, as it is not directed towards those who defend her case. It is simply between the person and the author)

But judging on the merit of Carrot's case alone, I do agree that her portrayal on Wano is weird if we are talking about someone who is supposed to join.
I disagree when people say that Jinbe had a strong case before he even appeared. His case was not strong to start with, it got strong as it went because, surprise, he was going to join. And since he was going to join, Oda kept throwing more and more things on his way.
With Carrot, things were going like that - on a slower pace, but still building up - on WCI, but suddenly everything came to a halt as soon as Wano started. She definitely didn't got to the point of portrayal where Oda can be satisfied with it and push her to the background already before she joins, so he really should be putting some extra effort on her… and instead, only last week we finally got her to say her first line ever since she got on Wano.
@Monquito:
Not only Robby, you guys aren't convincing anyone here tho.
There is really no convincing anyone in this thread or had you failed to realize the "anti-Carrot" brigade also didn't convinced anyone she is not joining?
Everyone here already picked their side on the "Carrot4nakama" train and is only worried about proving their side is right. Nobody is actually pondering the question and open for a change of opinion, but instead worried about how to read everything that happened and will happen in a way that will support the side they are defending.
