So, no diamond shiryuu that zoro will cut, eh?
ODA casually BTFO of the theory. I guess it's still possible shiryu does this but him cutting diamond seems like it's outta the window now

Damn will we really, even when this is the most obvious confirmation in the world due to Shiyru having his DF? This has to be the most unamibigous death since
MonetWhitebeard.Sabo is there. Belo did stay behind as we all saw. You can easily recognize his hat, and more glaringly, his pipe.
As someone that fully expected to not really be into (or even outright dislike) Queen's design based on the earlier silhouette, I really like it. The fact that he actually isn't bald is what definitely saves it for me. Not at all what I would consider to be one of Oda's "intentionally ugly" designs, much less worse than freaking Trebol, so I'm just going to refer to this as clearly having different tastes here.
Just different tastes. Trebol's design worked for me, despite him being based on mucus (that's ballsy to even base a design on that at all).
Queen's design just seems sloppy to me. Anyway, luckily the character can likely transform, so as long as the transformation's good I'm alright.
He'll grow on me over time, but it's gonna be a long cold winter for me on that front.
gladius + pika + magellan = king
morley + trebol + kidd = queen
weevil + morgan = jack
it's funny remembering when everybody was so hyped on jack and seeing him now belittled by his mates.
ashura is going to be in love with zoro
we are still missing several notable characters in this arc, so curious about orochi, of course drake position too, jinbei's return and bigmom, plus some random samurais.
If we still have 4 acts to go and, according to the narrative structure adopted by oda, with the second that should go down as being the most brutal, I think things will go very dark in the next months.
I wonder who will be the next to die.
If there was any doubt Nami will eventually fight Devon, think it's safe to say it's settled here.
We're gonna get 9 Tails disguise woman vs mirage master.
Oda has the whole fight happen in the background so we dont get to see it…JK (I hope)
I wonder if she'd be an interesting opponent for Robin if it's not a 1 vs 1 against her
Since Robin still has to know where to sprout her arms
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
I'm surprised that there's beautiful women on Blackbeard crew knowing her hobby.
It looks like more of a resort or an old fashioned island town in the old tales of pirates

Agree. Franky needs to show his capabilities as a cyborg … i mean he should be much stronger then normal human beigns and needs to start fighting seriously without nipple lasers and stuff :))
But franky isnt as the same level of fighter as zoro or sanji and it's debatable that that even they could defeat calamities. MUH POWER SCALING

I'm on the 'Law's dying by the end of this arc' train. I thought we would see Orochi in this very chapter, I was shocked. I'm thinking Orochi is going to have the best design in Wano, behind Kaido himself, if Oda's waiting THIS long.
I think it'd be super surprising if Oda went beyond 5 acts for Wano. Surely he won't but no one would ever predict it lol. But yeah we're in act 2, so lots of battles, and you said it'll turn dark? Nice, I thought that was the third act (in jo-ha-kyu plays).
@Long:

Sanji and franky team up works. One is power ranger, one has the megazord(general franky.
And I would like some SH team ups on the main men of kaidou. Like sanji and franky vs queen, chopper and jimbe vs jack, zoro and brook vs king, robin and usopp vs shogun, or kinemon and robin vs shogun, usoop going for kaidou with luffy. nami can also help zoro with king since she can fly with her cloud.
Did someone just coat the entire Thriller Bark in bubble in order for it to cross to the New World??
Also, maybe Moria is forced to join Blackbeard now, and is sent to an expedition to Wano, since Teach is interested in that scenario.
Moria, Absalom and Hogback abandoned TB and left on a lifeboat with the same name, so the real TB should still be in the Florian Triangle.
Damn!!! Oda really shock me with that Absalom death. I supposed people could die in the timeskip but I never envisionned the whole I killed a name chracter a week ago and I draw attention to it.I'm surprise the invisible fruit is so loved. I would have expect more interest in the shadow fruit.Blackbeard really look like a cartoon pirate. But he seems to be living the good life.
I wonder if Kuma was saved. And what was Bonney doing in this commotion.
That clash between Asura and Dog looked cool. Altough I'm not sure why it is a thing. But I continue to love Ashura. I'm into his I'm loyal to Oden not the family.
King look like a fetish and I can't take queen seriously.
Obviously, Absalom will be brought back to life by Moriah. It's just that he lost his DF. He's a zombie after all, he can't really die. And honestly, his DF was a waste for such a weak character

Well Franky isn't on Queen's level agreed, but he needs to get stronger anyway even with a team up like you said. And since the final battle is against BB where i don't see any semi-fodder opponent for any of the SH's since all of BB's crew are made up of his stong original crew & Impel down level 6 pirates.

Yes, i didn't write that but I actually believe too that Law will be corazon 2.0 this arc.
I guess third act will be not only dark, but also really dramatic, with somebody dying (maybe traffy then)
Late to the pary!
Zoro vs King! (Zoro will need future sight and advance his COO asap to fight Sheryu)
Sanji sv Queen :ninja:
Luffy or Jinbe vs Jack (I prefer Jimbe)
Obviously, Absalom will be brought back to life by Moriah. It's just that he lost his DF. He's a zombie after all, he can't really die. And honestly, his DF was a waste for such a weak character
He is not a zombie, he is a living human with animal parts transplanted on.
@.access:
He is not a zombie, he is a living human with animal parts transplanted on.
Did we ever learn why in the first place? Just to enhance his strenght or did he lose those parts like Brownbeard's crew did?

Don't see Law dying without using the eternal operation on someone.

Absolom wasn't a zombie. He was a patchwork of animals. Him, Hogback and Perona were the 3 humans of the troops.
Of course you can put a random shadow in the body to move it but he will still be dead.
Reminding everyone Abasalom had Lion's jaws, Elephant's skin and 300kg of Gorilla's muscle.
At what point do bounties become irrelevant ?
No one will go after BB and his crew, whether his bounty is 1B, 2B or 50B…

WG just puts bounties on pirates so they will weed each other out and piracy as a whole can decrease.
So blackbeard knows about Im and his throne, just like DD knew about im and the throne. There is no other throne he could talk about since revolutionaries don't go for pirate king throne.
Avalo pizzaro formal royal, that visited mari jois like all royals and saw the throne and told BB about it. But in that case, he doesn't know about Im himself?

You interpret too much into it, he clearly talks about the pirate king throne.
A minor random thing, but I wonder if Oda did the extremely specific bounty with Blackbeard (2,247,600,000) so that not a single person on the planet could predict it beforehand lol.
As far as collecting bounties, Yonkou are f*cking monsters, but if you were tricky enough you could kill one. Befriend Yonkou like one of Blackbeard's groupies, put deadly poison in drink, dead. And Kaido's been captured by the Marines a lot, just never killed.

Remember this crazy guy Rockstar? It was Not the bounty, but nevertheless.
@John:

Bounty Hunters have always been underdeveloped and didn't play much of a role in One piece, az least not the role they could have played. But Luffy fought some of them back at Sabaody. So a reasonable assumption may be that bounty hunters have occasional luck in Paradise and don't matter anymore in the New World.
Shit, I just realized if the BB card set at Vivre Card came out on december instead of november they would already have Teach and Devon with their new look in colors :(

That's something that has been bothering me since forever. It's not like the Marines give bounties for information related to wanted people (nor would they need as they know perfectly well where those pirates are). In OP universe those bounties will only be collected if someone manages to take them down and we definitely don't see any bounty hunter who is anywhere close to even people in their 300,000,000. Keep increasing bounties after that point seems useless as they all should have just peaked at, like, 500,000,000 or so.
At least from a in-universe perspective, obviously.
lol at Shiryu not having the diamond df like literally everyone thought
Any Shiyru theories that get messed with is a good thing in my book.

Blissed, why are you so against Diamond-Shiryu?
Please don't shit on Oda by associating King with what happened on California.
Moria, Absalom and Hogback abandoned TB and left on a lifeboat with the same name, so the real TB should still be in the Florian Triangle.
Yes, I remember it. But the boat near Pirate Island is clearly NOT the lifeboat they escaped in.
Looking at the picture it all seems like the original Thriller Bark to me. It has the mouth gate, the castle, the three giant sails. If it's not the original Thriller Bark, then it is a rebuilt model. Maybe they just made a new Thriller Bark in the New World. But still, there are chances that it is the original.

I must have missed whoever posted that. But even if Oda was basing King on California wildfires – which is really unlikely -- it'd still be fine because he's portraying it in a bad light.
It's pretty cool that Oda's going for at least somewhat of an environmentalism angle with Wano. Knowing One Piece and its penchant for destruction, all the factories will likely be destroyed by the end of the arc. It'd be nice if we get to see pure water flowing, and the whole country being as pretty as the Flower Capital.

I don’t have a problem with such high bounties, doesn’t really matter how many zeros they have. What bothers me more is, that the WG fears clashes of Yonkous but incourage them on the other hand (not that the likes of Big Mom or Kaidou would run out of money anyway). Also I don’t get why Blackbeard had to run away when he gave Bonney to the marines… how would a pirate ever trust the WG if he gets busted when tries to collect the bounty. It is really a shame that Jango was the most prominent bounty hunter untill now... ( Zoro aside).
Just wondering, since it's obvious that King and Queen are the best commanders in Kaidou's crew and that means 1B+ bounty, is Oda telling us that Jack's bounty was so high just because of his recklessness and danger and not particularly his power? I mean, we have to assume that yonkou's crews are more or less similar in power otherwise one would sooner or later defeat the other. since Big Mom has only Katakuri with a 1B bounty with Smoothie a bit less and Snack way less, does that mean that the marines and govt think Kaidou's top fighters are more dangerous than Big Mom's?
Getting to see Blackbeard at long last was AWESOME. I find his bounty underwhelming but I guess only due to how large Luffy's already is. Technically the gap between 1billion and 2billion is large if One thinka about it.
Aside from that I found it interesting to finally get to see what the other commanders under kaido look like. And seeing perona and the shichibukai gecko Moria was very interesting to see again. However, seeing that they are still stealing Devil fruits makes since, but seeing Shiryu of of the rain getting tje invisible fruit is spooky AF considering who he is. and the shape changing fruit makes me curious. Seems different from Bon Clay's tho
Wow so Absalom is actually dead. Killed off panel but this is one of those times where I absolutely believe it. I guess Oda was done with Absa's story. I don't know how I'll feel about a shadow being placed in his body. It's one thing to know a Zombie only as that but to know the character before hand alive and then seeing his dead body animated by someone else's personality will just be sad.
Shiryu with the name and the Clear Clear Fruit. Five bucks says Greg got on both the editors and Oda himself to fix that weirdness. At first glance having the invisible ability will seem useless in a major 1vs1 fight against anyone with good Observation but I'm betting on Oda to throw in some ideas that have some awesome creative potential. Beyond that just being able to turn anything invisible like an entire ship or island will undoubtedly come into play in the future. I also don't buy into the idea that Shiryu's fight with Zoro(lol watch it be Franky) will just be nothing but tricks. We will see tricks sure but we will get an honest to goodness battle of swordsmen.
I'm glad that a known character got his fruit taken. For longest I kept expecting each Black Beard member to be introduced with fruit that is brand new to the audience and we're just told they stole it.
I always loved Moriah so it was great seeing him again. Very surprised he didn't lose any weight over the last few years. Though after his Thriller Bark defeat he has definitely changed somewhat. Or maybe not. We know for sure Moriah loved his original crew mates who were killed by Kaidou/and or his men. Maybe he didn't express much of that during the Thriller Bark arc but did he express the opposite? I don't really remember. Seeing Moriah express a bit of regret over harming the islands citizens seems to be new though. What ever the case Moriah is clearly on his road to redemption and will most likely get his revenge against Kaidou by allying with Luffy.
King and Queen look great. The two aggressive blow hards King and Queen will fight Zoro and Sanji respectively while the 3rd guy, equally ranked but more modest and apologetic, Jack, fights Jimbei.
If these guys are far above the level of Luffy's monster trio then I could see each of them initially using help that make a difference but ultimately everyone falls except Zoro, Sanji and Jimbei. They get to finish the job definitively. At the same time seeing Samurai Chubs, Dog Storm and Ca Viper hold their own against Jack leads me to believe that Luffy's Big Three would be able to hold their own if push came to shove.
@Big:
Blissed, why are you so against Diamond-Shiryu?
I don't have anything against diamond specifically, just nice when long-standing theories don't happen, means Oda is harder to predict than some thought.

Because Akainu came with them. And he wasn't trying to collect a bounty, they wanted to trade her for a proper ship.

Yeah you are right, I missed the size at the first glance. Somehow it looks out of proportion compared to the other ships. But who knows, maybe they are Yonta Maria size.
Because Akainu came with them. And he wasn't trying to collect a bounty, they wanted to trade her for a proper ship.
So what’s the big difference, guess he didn’t want a ship out of Adams Wood. They also traded Ace vs Shichibukai title. Akainu is a point though, but then it just shows, that bounties are only for hype and Over the World reactions at this point.

Whoaaa. I think most people including myself forgot that the Suke Suke can turn other things invisible. This has huge, scary implications with an actually powerful user, like Shiryu.
This was another great chapter, the last half dozen have all been great but it's worth repeating.
The jump cut to Perona and Mihawk and then to Moriah on Blackbeard's Island was very surprising. I was one of the people who thought we'd pick up where we left off with kid instead of going to the reverie and then oda just hit us with his unpredicted third option. It's nice to see the former pair after a while and it's interesting to see their relationship with Mihawk having some sort of heart but also being matter-of-factly with how he rebuffed persona mentioning how helpful she was.
Then we cut to Moria attacking one of Blackbeard's islands where three of his commanders lay in wait. Apparently this is a port town kind of setting where Blackbeard is essentially trying to throw a big old party. It's definitely an interesting wrinkle to his character that he have seen a few other times but I like laidback Blackbeard because it makes him being vicious come off as even more frightening.
We get a rather darker than usual end for Absalom at the hands of the Blackbeard Pirates and I like how this played off of Moria. It kind of confirms to others that Moria did enjoy his crew when they were alive and wasn't just upset they died because they were like toys to him. He's genuinely happy when he thinks Absalom is alive and gets pissed when Devon reveals he was dead.
Relating to the devil fruit business I was shocked that Oda went with Shiryu taking his power as everyone and their mother thought the diamond fruit would be his. It's interesting to see how Oda would style a fight like this and I feel that there has to be a CoO counter the fruit has to avoid being completely nullified by haki. Think of something like how Meleoreon from HxH had the Perfect Plan / God's Accomplice. Katarina Devon's fruit is also very interesting because she probably got a physical boost from the Zoan along with her transformation ability which maybe a greater form of the Mane Mane No Mi, Mr. 2 had.
The news that the Revolutionaries attacked the admirals at the reverie is definitely something that would have been cool to see but I am not to upset we didnt get a chance to see it. Knowing that the three commanders + sabo where facing 2 of them is a good balance so the admirals dont seem too weak but the commanders dont seem like small fries either.
Glad Tama is safe and sound and the actual wound wasn't as deep as it first looked. The meeting with Asura Douji played off according to expectations but I'm glad there is some form of bitterness about the 20 year gap even if it was used as a means of escape and a future effort to save the land. Asura still had to live through those 20 years and the others were spared so him not being all sunshine about seeing kinemon and the others makes sense.
Lastly the Calamities. While their appearance seemed a little out of nowhere they have some badass designs, the Queen who I believe is an Okama looks like a big trucker kind of dude, likes torturing people and is something of a mechanic it seems. Then we got King, another katakuri-like non usual oda designs who exudes badassery with his fire based epithet, giant demon wings, black outfit, spiked helmet and large ripped body. I'm assuming Jack is the lowest out of the three and the other two have a zoro and sanji relationship but they actually hate each other. I think those might be their opponents in this arc.
The more I look at the last page, the more I like Queen looks and the less I like King's.
Queen has that typical "I will make him look fodder so he ends up amazing everyone when he turns into a powerhouse" Oda design. While King has that typical "I will make him look cool, but he will end up just being lackluster" Oda design…
Maybe it's because King reminds me too much of Pica and Gladius, both of them terribly forgettable character despite their mildly cool looks. Or maybe it's because he doesn't seem like a "straight out of a post-apocalyptic dystopian movie gang boss" design like Jack and Queen (I can't help but think Katakuri would fit SO much better here).
They wanted a proper ship because Sanjuan Wolf nearly broke their raft.
That has been obvious since before the timeskip.
To me it also felt like a competitive thing before TS, now bounties really don’t have any meaning (at least to me)…
So whats the deal with former Impel Down wardens and the SS BDSM leather long coat? I'm taking a guess and saying that King was Magellan's predecessor.
Love the relationship between the all-stars, Queen and King do give a vibe of Zoro-Sanji banter. Now let's begin the speculation on their mythical zoans? I'm going in for Garuda for King.
Loved seeing Teach and his gang again, did Pizarro end a phrase with meow? Guess we discovered the owner of the mythical neko neko no mi model sabertooth.
Not a fan of Moria, but let's see if he sticks around with BB.
Now do we wait patiently for Bonney to join the revolutionaries or not?

Pizarro always ended his phrases like a cat. And I am still in the camp that he is the tunneling df user Iva talked about it.

Was not aware of that. Guess i’m long overdue for a reread.
And it could be, his arms turned into guns during the war, maybe he got his hands in some Germa tech.

Great chapter!
A decade ago, such chapter would definitely make me think that we would get Sanji vs Queen and Zoro vs King (I have a Jabra/Kaku or Mr2/Mr1 vibe from them).
But I don't think that's direction the arc will go with so many players around. I'm expecting a lot of tag teaming between the supernovas crews to take all of them down.
The time where an arc would end with the enemies being defeated only by the Straw Hats is over. Btw, I'm a firm believer that we won't get some final battle against Blackbeard Pirates with Luffy's crew taking them on 11vs11. The allied supernovas will "take" some of the predicted 1vs1.
I would love to be wrong and that Sanji and Zoro will somehow defeat the top 2 calamities without help. We won't get many more opportunities for them to have a great 1vs1 battle.

Oda is not well known for many tag team fights, so why would he change now?

Maybe the only opportunity before the Final War.
Blackbeard's bounty of 2,247,600,000 is such a strange number. Is there some Japanese pun involved?
Given how casually they were introduced, I don't think that King and Queen will end up being that important to the overall arc.

Yeah, sure. Casually scolding Jack, a man with a bounty almost as high as Katakuri.
