That was mentioned in the same breath as King being a cyclops in the spoiler thread. So pretty much fake.
Zombie Abs. Oh, lawdy.
I was a bit suprised that there were only two admirals holding of the revos tho.
Only two, but poor WG only got 3 in total for the full world. And with how admrials seem to be on par with yonkous, it's like having both big mom and kaidou team.
Long post inc. Easy 10/10 chapter, when I read the spoilers for it my brain was beyond shocked and couldn't focus at all.
– Starting off with the weak part, Queen has literally the worst design in One Piece for me. I thought about it for a while and this isn't hyperbole. Just does absolutely nothing for me. I'm not really sure who Oda's trying to appeal to with that...? I mean the guy does his intentionally ugly designs a fair bit, but Queen is on another level for that, when he doesn't need to be at all. The unfortunate thing is Queen is going to be the "Trebol" of this arc for me. Aesthetically, they drag down every scene they're in. Everybody else has been fine. Trebol's design is better than Queen's though; it's not like Trebol's design is BAD, just ugly. Queen's to me is bad and too ugly. Basically, get Queen in his/her Zoan form asap lol. He's one of the things that could introduce unnecessary flaws to this arc. The Zoan form should remedy that.
-- King's design is without a doubt a mix of some designs if you want to look at it that way, but I still really like the design. King is another no-nonsense Yonkou Commander, and I can tell he's going to be brutally ruthless. "Brutality" is the theme I think Oda is going for with Kaido's crew. And we will see much more of it to come; the pliers were only a start. King's wings are wing wings, the Birkan/Urouge kind (but black), so to me he differentiates himself enough from the winged warden, Magellan who has devil wings. I think the Impel Down outfit is very intentional, given that we're introduced to Shiryu in this chapter who wears an extremely similar outfit. I think Oda wants us to make that connection. King's already intimidating enough in his base form, imagine Zoan.
-- The cover's quite charming and makes me super thirsty for some wine.
-- The fact that we're getting closure with freaking Perona (and her story isn't even done yet) makes you realize Oda is going to tie up absolutely every loose end in One Piece by the time it ends. knocks on wood And of course Mihawk's story is far from done.
-- The vibe I get from Mihawk is that of a survivor. One that's gotten so strong the tides of the world shifting doesn't bother him in the least. Loved the interactions with Perona and that she couldn't let him be nice near the end because she'd get too attached, haha.
-- "Interesting topic." Oh you, Oda. Assuming the abolition of the Shichibukai since that relates to Mihawk the most.
-- Avalo Pizarro's new design is slightly better than the old one for me. I like the details of the building he's in. Treasure chest, swords, wheel. All very pirate-like.
-- Those zombies getting chopped up all of a sudden was a very sudden tonal change! Followed by Shiryu getting a DF fruit freaking NO ONE predicted before this chapter, the invisibility fruit. I see some trouble having people understanding it when it makes perfect sense to me though. The invisibility fruit only increases his chances of eventually killing Mihawk from behind, as long as the invisibility makes him undetectable by Color of Observation. Which theoretically it shouldn't, so we'll see how that goes.
-- So the Blackbeard Pirates are going to have completely unpredictable fruits, unless you throw a dart waaay out there and happen to get lucky. Catarina Devon (with a massively improved design) having the nine-tailed fox fruit not a soul predicted either. She's extremely menacing in her final panel. That's a thing anime-only viewers might not get, the "menacing" way he draws them in the manga is meant to come off as grimy/very foreboding. They may not necessarily get that vibe in the anime when it's meant to be there, from Oda's shading.
-- Blackbeard's double spread is iconic. Endgame is on the horizon, and Oda has no reservations about that anymore. We've finally seen the elusive emperor. Seeing Blackbeard with a black beard is obviously very gratifying. There are some who like to say Oda doesn't have character development, which can be a criticism you can throw at him if you ignore certain examples. Blackbeard's an example of very obvious character development to me. Makes me happy about all the times before when he was introduced as an absolute bum. Look at him now. Our boy's made the big time and is living it up, the pirate way. Gimme more grog.
-- Act 2 begins! With her literally shouting "Ha". I think as a few predicted we'll see who this lady is at the end of the arc. I'll go with Toki. On the next panel, there's a great juxtaposition of the beauty of the natural land, with the desolate pollution of the factories looming behind. Given that we immediately start with a sword clash, it's pretty obvious what the theme of this Act will be.
-- Glad O-Tama's better very quickly, no more hurting/traumatizing the poor girl anymore, Oda. #protecttamaatallcosts
-- Huh. Ashura Douji's showing the recruitment will actually not be very easy. That's fitting with One Piece, barely anything is ever easy.
-- So with Doflamigo gone, there's a new trade location. Dude, Oda leaves no stone unturned, seriously. It's insane. Poor Jack is the constantly made fun of younger brother of the Calamities, lmao.
Oh, wow… god... talk about an eventful chapter. I mean... I'm still wrapping my mind around it. I will just go through it again and try to remember everything I wanted to comment in order:
Perona is looking different. And you know what I mean. I'm glad to finally have Oda's romanization with Perona so I can guiltlessly ignore "Perhona".
Moria is here! I knew he - and Teach - were making an appearance this week because I accidentally got spoiled on that, so this part was not a surprise. As much as I love the BBP, this scene felt kinda forced because of how lackluster and random Moria's comeback was. Still, if he does join the BBP then this would change everything (I wonder if Teach means it as a crew serving under them or he would really have Moria as part of the BBP, like a 11th Captain).
Shill... Shilli... SHIRYU!????? Oh, c'mon, Oda, after I defended your choice of romanization for his name so damn much, you decide to suddenly throw it away? Even though it was so consistent before?? Honestly, I think it's high time I admit Oda cares about those things as much as he cares for birthdays.
And he got the invisible fruit. Interesting, Absalom's fruit has always been one of my favorites and I really like Shilliew (I'm sticking with it), so I can't complain.
CATARINA DEVON!!! If there was one thing I was waiting to see ever since Marineford was Devon's design (her own clothes instead of Impel Down prisoner clothing). And she got a mythical Zoan? Love it!
Weirdly enough, though, in the Vivre Card it was said she uses a whip as a weapon but here we see she carrying only a sword.
Catarina states Absalom is dead and Shilliew did got his fruit. We'll keep saying forever he is still alive, but more and more it seems like death did became part of OP as a regular event (even if not as banal as in other titles).
Teach is here! With his long waited Edward Teach beard. I assume the sunglasses are not part of his regular design, though.
And with his bounty we finally have a notion of how big the bounty of one of the Emperors can be. Even though it is considerably bigger than Luffy's, knowing Teach is an Emperor for two years now I think it is perfectly fine to accept Luffy can be considered a newly formed Emperor at 1,5 billion.
As much as I love this crew, though, obviously my main interest shifted to the part about the RA Commanders fighting 2 Admirals. And the drawing really does show only the 4 Commanders against Fujitora and Ryokugyu (not including Sabo or Dragon). If it really was a 4x2 fight, then they are as strong as I hopped they would be. Also, good to know Belo didn't stayed in Kamabakka since first it seemed like all the men went to Mary Geoise while all the women stayed back.
(EDIT: Mindfart! Somehow I saw Belo in what is clearly Sabo)
Also more confirmation Big Mom is going to Wano. Although if people missed a whole half chapter about it, I'm sure they will miss this one as well.
Back to WaNO, WE DIDN"T HAD TIME TO SEE BUGGY!!! WAIT!!!
Atamayama… I love this name, Mount Head. It's the name of a
I like Ashura Douji.
King and Queen! Finally! Oda really went all the way with the reveals this week. In a way they look like fodder, on the other hand I absolutely love when Oda makes incredibly strong characters to look like complete fodder, so if they really live up to the hype this is going to be a good thing.
And Queen is an okama! That's one thing from my wishlist come true. Two reasons: (1) after Smoothie, I think it's safe to assume Queen would be sidelined if a woman; (2) Queen not being a woman means Sanji can fight him (and another of my wishlist is having Zoro, Sanji and Jinbe pair up with Nami, Robin and Carrot to fight the Calamities 2x1; (3… there's a third) more okama, more fun.
Also, is it just me or Queen is using Kid's metallic arm?
No.
Its a mistake made by Jaminibox
Avalo is the 4th ship Captain, Shiryuu is the 2nd.
i am confuse a little bit here. If that was a mistake by Jaiminibox, why they had a translation note that explained why they translate that part as 2nd ship captain and not 4th?
and their explanation sounded like that it was the RAW chapter that said 2nd and not 4th.

That looks very much like Sabo with his pipe to me, not Belly Betty, which makes sense as we've seen these four together in chapter 908.

Kidd was shown having his arm after being imprisoned by Kaidou
!
But it looks like it's Queen's left arm so he is indeed part robot. If he/she took Kidd's arm in the process i don't know, it has some resemblance to Kidd's arm.
Awesome chapter but it's still pale when compare to a certain manga's "chapter that will change manga history".:ninja:

Damn will we really, even when this is the most obvious confirmation in the world due to Shiyru having his DF? This has to be the most unamibigous death since Monet Whitebeard.
- As much as I love this crew, though, obviously my main interest shifted to the part about the RA Commanders fighting 2 Admirals. Sabo is there. Belo did stay behind as we all saw. You can easily recognize his hat, and more glaringly, his pipe.

As someone that fully expected to not really be into (or even outright dislike) Queen's design based on the earlier silhouette, I really like it. The fact that he actually isn't bald is what definitely saves it for me. Not at all what I would consider to be one of Oda's "intentionally ugly" designs, much less worse than freaking Trebol, so I'm just going to refer to this as clearly having different tastes here.
Loved the way the chapter started. Didn't expect Absalom to die! Weird events.
Was Mihawk talking about the dissolution of the Warlod system? That would mean it would be dangerous for Perona to stay there, as Mihawk would become a target
I forgot about that. Yeah, none of the news Teach mentioned seem to fit, so Mihawk was probably talking about something else. The dissolution of the Shichibukai would make perfect sense.
ALSO anyone knows the full name of catrina devon's fruit? Is it kitsune/kyuubi/kumiho/gumiho/nine tail fox?
Inu Inu no Mi Genjushuu Model Kyuubi no Kitsune (Dog-Dog Fruit Mythical Beast, Model: Nine-tailed Fox)
- Was surprising at the change Moria underwent in the past two years. Looks like hiding in the shadows from the entire world, with only Absalom and probably Hogback by his side, really made them grew closer. Did you see how relieved he was when he saw Absa alive and well? Feeling bad for Absalom getting killed off like that, he didn't even appear in the story since pre-TS.
- Introduction of King & Queen; I'm digging their designs. Also, anyone noticed King hinting at the possibility of an underworld big shot playing a role soon? "Now that Doflamingo is gone… you do know where to go for our next trade deal, right?" my gut is telling me he's talking about Crocodile.
Both good points. I missed the fact King was probably talking about someone to replace Doflamingo (maybe even become the new Joker, since King/Queen/Jack/Joker are obviously all codenames like Diamante/Trébol/Pica/Corazón).
Moria acting on his crew behalf was also a good change. Also the man got some balls for facing an Emperor and his crew alone. He is suddenly up there with the Worst Generation in terms of boldness.
That looks very much like Sabo with his pipe to me, not Belly Betty, which makes sense as we've seen these four together in chapter 908.
I looked at the pipe and instantly saw Belo's flag. How did that happen? Anyway, you are right.
:/
Noticed that king seems to have some kind of flaming hair. Not really feeling King's and Queens designs tbh. Amazing chapter though, completely blew away all my expectations
Regarding the "Big Mom Wano"-thing:
I think Big Mom will appear, but only more to the end of the arc. Maybe she'll come into play later like Kuma did back at Thriller Bark (in terms of the WHEN she appears).
We just had an entire Skypiea-length arc dedicated to her and her underlings already played roles in Fishman Island, Dressrosa and Zou. I think it would be better to delay her appearance to the end and NOT introduce her for a very long time, so Wano can be more centered around all the Samurai and Japanese stuff and be it's own arc with it's own themes for as long as possible. Now and for the next few dozens of chapters is not the right time to have Big Mom appear here, in my opinion. Only let her come at the end, during the final fights or when the war against Kaido is almost over.

He has Ho-Oh zoan.
Wonder if that full body suit of his is a style choice or he needs protection from his own fire. There's no skin showing anywhere. And as we know, fire proof clothing exists in OP.
If the Warlord system is gone, Buggy is screwed. Moria potentially working under Blackbeard works for me. He's got to be smart enough to know he can't do anything by himself.
I'm extremely happy Moria is back, hope he doesn't screw up.

Lol
Wasn't Ho-Oh inspired by some chinese mythical rainbow feather firebird, though?
Maybe King doesn't like it, so he paints the feathers black. Well, that or he keeps them constantly armed with Haki. :ninja:
King probably has the mythical devil devil fruit
I don't get Moria being on the news, though. Did he zombie invaded another place before attacking the pirate island? Wasn't him playing dead until now?
Okay, new chapter, time for silly prediction lol
First, Shilliew with invisible power is the perfect enemy for forcing Zoro to be super serious, using and perfecting his secret dojutsu learned from his training with Mihawk, before the final battle against The Hawk Eye himself (very cringy right? lol)
Secondly, Zoro won't battle King, but instead he will got lost and battles with Samurai Orochi, and it will be the classic battle between Tiger and Dragon (or snake lol), or a Dragon vs Dragon battle
King, on the other hand will be facing Sanji, its fire against fire, satan vs satan, devil vs devil lmao
And Queen will be facing franky of course! We'll see his true battle prowess here, half machine vs half machine
Jack will battle both Inuarashi and Nekomamushi, and will bring Nekomamushi to his dea…. Okay I'll stop now lol
Don't take it seriously guys, it's just for fun :p
Both Blackbeard and Moriah have been reintroduced at once, what a nice early Christmas present!
Lol

If I remember correctly it was Fenghuan, the chinese Phoenix.
I would rather have Queen fight Franky because it seem he is somehow linked to mechanical stuff.
Queen is going to fight Sanji. Sanji will use his raid suit and okama techniques vs an okam style enemy
If I remember correctly it was Fenghuan, the chinese Phoenix.
Then maybe King's fruit is a cheaper version of Marco's fruit too. :ninja:
yeah I tried to resist at first but is futile, King and Queen are so much Zoro and Sanji arranged marriages.
good thing about it, now I'm more confident Inu and Neko will have revange on Jack.
as for Orochi, dunno, maybe ShutenMaru?
Then maybe King's fruit is a cheaper version of Marco's fruit too. :ninja:
I wrote earlier that there is a type of hawk, the Australian Firehawk, that has learned how to "use" fire and is responsible for many widlfires, hence King of Wildfire .. could be a possibility.
Lol, Oda wants to make Moria likeable, he suddenly cares about the people that he's killing.
I've done a terrible thing to these people, what a joke.
Moria's slightly new wardrobe is nice, he should get a new set of pants, grow a beard and PEFECTION.
Also, BEST FACIAL EXPRESSIONS.
He looks so happy when he sees his rapey-harrassing crewmate is alive.

lol, welcome back
So did some backreading and found the discussion point about Mihawk allying with Shanks highly likely. Mihawk probably knows how to track him down/get in contact with him. With Blackbeard recruiting, if not mockingly, Moriah, the idea of a Warlord joining a Yonko is being set-up. Next, Shiryu eating Absalom’s fruit initially was confounding for me but as a poster said, it makes him all the more appealing as someone to take Mihawk down.
Imagine, Zoro discovering Mihawk getting wounded in the back(which he describes as a swordsman’s shame) not because he was running away from a duel but due to a treacherous backstab by Shiryu.
Nice of Oda to utilize Impel Down as origins of a Yonko commander. King and Queen… interesting designs for commanders. I wonder what ancient zoans they have.
Maybe both king and Queen are from Impel Down, King as Chief Warden and Queen as Vice Warden or maybe Chief Guard like Sadi.
They trash talking each other reminds me of Hannyabal, and Queen's sadistic torture hobby resembles Sadie's
Maybe Oda trying to keep the trend here lol
lol, welcome back
Not for long though, probably when Moria goes to Wano, which will obviously happen.

I don't get Moria being on the news, though. Did he zombie invaded another place before attacking the pirate island? Wasn't him playing dead until now?
I interpreted the news splash being more about Moria storming back into the new world with a zombie army. Like the guy we all thought was dead resurfaced and fought his way into the new world. That's pretty big news in itself.
I'm glad Oda didn't abandon the concept of a fox woman.
Although I prefer current Devon than original one.
You know I pictured BB as someone who's constantly plotting on how to become PK from how he was portrayed, it's kind of interesting he's just chilling on an island waiting for shit to happen instead. Like his progress is meant to mirror luffy's in terms of constantly causing chaos from his actions (but negatively as opposed to the positive influence of luffy).
Tenguyama and King seem to have very similar wings?
Anyway, moria seems to be big deal in the NW, attacking yonkou on his own land like that, made the healine in the news, with his pocket change 320 m Bounty.
lol at Shiryu not having the diamond df like literally everyone thought
lol at Shiryu not having the diamond df like literally everyone thought
It is gonna be weird to envision Sauron swinging at air and being run around by an invisible dude for his final fight.

I don't know if the news was refering to Moria attacking BB cause it was shown about at the same time. If we consider that Perona's leave and Wano arc at same time and BB&Moria meeting a couple of days earlier, then yes, but the news should also cover what happend to Moria after learning that Absalom is dead adn all.
If we consider that everything is happening at the same time, then the news could'nt possibly cover Moria's intrussion on BB turf and it probably showcases Moria's other invasion in the NW (probably also BB turf idk).
Damn!!! Oda really shock me with that Absalom death. I supposed people could die in the timeskip but I never envisionned the whole I killed a name chracter a week ago and I draw attention to it.I'm surprise the invisible fruit is so loved. I would have expect more interest in the shadow fruit.Blackbeard really look like a cartoon pirate. But he seems to be living the good life.
I wonder if Kuma was saved. And what was Bonney doing in this commotion.
That clash between Asura and Dog looked cool. Altough I'm not sure why it is a thing. But I continue to love Ashura. I'm into his I'm loyal to Oden not the family.
King look like a fetish and I can't take queen seriously.

You people and your hatred of fist of the north star

I suppose he will look like that during his fight(s).
It is gonna be weird to envision Sauron swinging at air and being run around by an invisible dude for his final fight.
Lol so true
I always thought Jesus Burgess was a better fit for the Diamond fruit, he uses the same moves (elbow tackle and suplex)
also how come all of Sanji's and Zoro's enemies always hate each other lol, Mr. 2 and Mr. 1 hated each other, Jabara and Kaku hated each other and now Queen and King seem to hate each other lol
Did someone just coat the entire Thriller Bark in bubble in order for it to cross to the New World??
Also, maybe Moria is forced to join Blackbeard now, and is sent to an expedition to Wano, since Teach is interested in that scenario.
soooo much things to say bout this chapter
the introduction of King and Queen just give hint of new matchup
Zoro vs King (Kinemon unable to put out the King's wildfire but then, Zoro enter as new skill to cut the fire on higher level)
Sanji vs Queen (Fight between Okama Kenpo master, Queen actually a true Queen of Kamabakka Kingdom or at least related to Ivankov)
Oda could always pull a Movie 3 and make a reverse matchup.
No.
