I think he's talkin about the Mattel Toys.
a store in toronto has this figure, but it's $75 cdn before tax = $85.5 after tax = $94 US. which is way too much $$$ for me. if u want, i can get it for u and ship it to you, but that'll cost u another $20 for shipping.
Damn, it would be nice to purchase, but I honestly do not have aboot one hundred extra dollars to use on a pop figure. Thanks for the offer though.
Woohoo! Look what I just got!
[qimg]http://i17.ebayimg.com/03/i/08/41/b5/6b_1.JPG[/qimg]
$29.99 plus shipping on Ebay, but it was worth it.
Sorry about the crappy picture though.
Sobs, you got lucky. ;_; But at least I have a chibi-sized Sogeking from Gunbunny that will keep me satisfied until I find one like yours. :) And when will Bandai start releasing a figure set of the whole CP9 group?! >.<
Hidy, the auctions are almost over, the large Crocodile sand dail figure only has 12 hours to go, and everything is still only at $0.99.
eggy are those the chinese volumes of One Piece?
Weirdest thing today:
I was in/around City of Industry, California today on a business trip and went into this shop… a Chinese food counter / mobile phone shop / sundry shop which had the largest array of Chinese-translated manga I'd ever seen... probably four ranks of shelves about 5 metres long and 1.5 metres high, on both sides.
I was going to get volume 42, even though I don't speak or read Chinese, but they said the manga was for rent only. They had a few packaged groups of other series marked for sale, but no OP.
Weird... I'm baffled as to how you could make money RENTING something as fragile and cheap as tankobans, especially when the market for Chinese-translated manga is probably even smaller than the markets for either English or original-Japanese manga.

Taiwan = 2nd largest consumer of Japanese printed goods other than Japan itself.
Taiwan's an island located just southwest of Japan, so they get things almost as quickly as they come out with tons of publishers waiting to translate them for the market. Taiwan's language = Mandarin / Traditional Chinese.
a typical manga volume like OnePiece would cost about 85 taiwanese dollars,
which is almost the equivalent of $3 CAD.
Why? Just go to a better manga store in taiwan, mangas sell like hotcakes there. They don't need to overcharge it to make money.
(and there's all that US copyright law making US mangas super expensive)
hell, I was pissed a shop owner who was overcharging Yotsuba&! for 300 taiwanese dollars ($10 CAD).
Now compare it to a US translated manga that would otherwise cost $8
(was told of that amount but not really sure since I never bought a US translated manga, sorry if I'm wrong >_>; )
and the Chinese fans work like crazy too >_>
Visit any Chinese/Taiwanese manga websites, they'll have such an array of translated mangas (in one site that I used to go, over 420 different mangas, either complete or updated, for you to choose from) that You'll be biting your lips wishing you knew how to read Chinese.
same thing goes with anime subs, too.
and oh, believe me, those manga renting stores make money. There are many of those everywhere in Taiwan, especially where the students are.
what better way to spend an eventless afternoon than reading manga at the rental price of 4 taiwanese dollars (for the newer volumes) and 2 taiwanese dollars (for the older volumes) per book and getting free air-conditioning at the same time.
(1/30 ratio between canadian and taiwanese dollars, 4 taiwanese dollars = … do the math yourself, I suck at it, but I know it's cheap)
actually, I'm abit baffled at how those manga rentals manage to survive when they're charging 2-4 taiwanese dollars per rental, but seeing all those manga rentals that are around my neighborhood still there after 10 years, they must be not doing bad.
takes a breath of air
....
but that's just Taiwan, I don't know what you mean by 'Chinese'
it could be traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, or Cantonese.
people get mixed up between these quite often : x
nevertheless, the manga/anime industry is huge in asian countries, has been for a long ime.
madgofermm5: ya, they're all mandarin volumes : O
I gotta go to Taiwan and get all that stuff cheap. Although I get the Japanese tankoban not the Taiwanese ones. Very impressive collection. :)

Understood, but as I said, this was a shop in California. Although it was in an Asian-centric strip mall, I'd expect pulling off a profitable rental service requires a certain level of client density and traffic.
Now compare it to a US translated manga that would otherwise cost $8
(was told of that amount but not really sure since I never bought a US translated manga, sorry if I'm wrong >_>; )
It seems like the cheaper ranges (the stuff sold under the 'Shonen Jump' name in the States, like One Piece) is USD 8– about $260 Taiwanese, other series tend to be 9-10, and the Dark Horse stuff is as high as 15, FWIW.
and oh, believe me, those manga renting stores make money.
As I said, it wasn't the premise, but rather that the premise could be carried out successfully in that location. The math of any rental service is based on averaging enough rentals per item, and I honestly don't know if it's gonna work given their location. I guess it DID work by definition… or maybe I'm bitter because I wanted OP 42 as a souvenir of my trip and I couldn't get it

XD I guess there's a huge matter of perspective. NOBODY would go to any commercial building where I live (Phoenix) without air conditioning.

If people are hanging around for manga and air conditioning, I'd expect selling snacks and drinks could be an ideal profit-making tie-in. The manga could even be a "loss-leader", offered below its actual cost as a draw.

This litterally got a "woah" out of me.

ya, the business would probably triple if they sell snacks and drinks in there
heck, I'd probably just stay there all day
but they don't allow drinks and food in the reading lounge
those elementary - highschool kids can be abit careless and messy >__>;;
and oh, I saw Oda's 'Wanted' in the shelf the last time I visited
everytime I pass by the store I wanted to go in and read it, but I always decided to go home and change into a new set of clothes cuz I always get sweaty from the heat outside.
but then there would always be a good tv show on the air at the moment
and I ended up forgetting to read it <_____<;;;
bah~
i just picked up Portugues (Portgas) D. Ace and Nefertari Vivi which completes my series 3 figures of P.O.P. ^^ I have 2 complete sets now(series 3 + 4). I'm looking for series 1 + 2, anybody know online sites or stores in Ontario, Canada that might have these??
Thanks.
@Khoga: Kikiwai in Toronto may have some PoP's you're looking for, They've had a couple in store when I've been there, I forget which ones though…
But. huzzah~!
Good news!
Yesasia shipped out my One Piece volumes 39 and 42!
So next week I should have them added to my collection.
which is excellent~
eggy are those the chinese volumes of One Piece?
yes they are, I read the chinese ones too…. they are nearer to japanese in my views....and when i watch english dubbed anime(which in my country stopped airing in alabasta arc) its kinda sucky, perhaps the dubbing company sucks.
chinese mangas are reely nice to read.
Hi! I've got a ton of stuff on ebay again! Most for only $0.99! Plus the Crocodile charm!
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZgunbunny_harukoQQhtZ-1
I have more to put up tomorrow!
Question for those who owns some of the calendars:
What calender did these bootleg posters come from? I'm talking about the laminated ones, not the wallscrolls. Ah, those can be fake, too. =/ I just want to know.
N/M. I found what calendar some of them were on. I was mostly concerned about the poster with the W7 characters and Franky. ^.^
^_^
Hehe~ Collection increased a bit now.
On the weekend I bought volumes 31 and 32.
And I found something pretty interesting, its a figure of Usopp and Chopper, with a wanted poster attached, I've seen them online, and I didnt expect to find it mint condition in a store, I was quite happy to grab it.
My boyfriend bought that thing that GunBunny had for sale,At Kikiwai they had the Crocodile + Hourglass figure, they also had one of Chopper with an hourglass, I may pick it up next time I'm there, its very fancy~
And today my ordered copies of Vol. 39 and 42 arrived.
Now If I could only find vol. 33 somewhere with reasonable shipping XD
You're boyfriend bought the Croco figure? Heh, I sent it out a little late and included a Croco Characan figure. ^_^
I JUST recieved six of the 'World Of One Piece' trading figures (from the Water 7 set), and only one was a double (Robin). The rest were, Sanji, Usopp, Chopper, and Nami. They're all very cool!

Sorry to bother people, but what is the the name of that series where are those creatures next to One Piece toys at that picture? I have wondered it a lot of time. It is so small text i cant read it.
@Torzii:

It's Pretty Cure alright, if you look real closely at the picture you'll see Pretty Cure writen just below the 2 hearts
ive
got
One Piece: Grand Adventure
One Piece: Fighting for One Piece
One Piece fighting poses figures
getting more stuff soon
Spotted this nice figure of Tashigi on the Toei web page:
Yea, tis the Portrait of Pirates one, quite possibly the best Tasigi figure out there, tho I woulda liked her jacket to be there too.
One Piece haul from Animania and Manifest.
Tamarket had the Tashigi Portrait of Pirate at Animania, but I decided against getting her… they'll probably have her at Supanova anyway.
I'd been looking for these phone hangers for a while though~ They had most of the characters, but at $15 each I had to limit myself... =u=
Never seen those pins before either. Way too cute to pass up. The poster is A3 and semi-metallic in terms of sparkly sheen. The plushy series had deliberate foreshortening, which is why his leg looks so big.
[qimg]http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/4485/0000311dq9.th.jpg[/qimg]
Now that, is bad fucking ass! drools
Those shelves must be tiny~ But ooh, I love that colour spread above it. One of my favs, except the artbooks don't do them full justice due to the spine roll.
Yeah, thats one thing I hate about posting pictures of this kinda stuff. They always look so much bigger than they actually are!
Complete collection

[qimg]http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/2299/chopperman2ao3.th.jpg[/qimg]
Kind of expensive so I'm not sure I'm willing to splurge on it, but it's Chopperman and I'm a sucker for anything chopper.
Where'd you find that at? Back at KF, crossbones found a couple of Chopperman plushies. Go check their 'One Piece Collectibles' thread. ;)
Another Question: I'm looking for a Zoro wallscroll (Skypiea version), so does anyone know where one is besides the ones on eBay? Thanks.
