Overhaul shows up to the fight wearing pleather. Stomps Jeanist.
My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
-
-
Endeavor wins for sure- he's not the top ranked hero for nothing. Dude is both more disciplined and more crafty than we give him credit for.
Hawks probably wins to due to sheer maneuverability, but Best Jeanist vs. Overhaul would be pretty interesting.
He would just fight naked.
-
So, I'm watching this thing now. Sister made me.
Just got to the Deku v. Bakugo fight and I'm already hooked… damnit, another long running Shonen to keep track of...
-
I'm only up to date with the cartoon but I will probably try to catch up with the comic after Season Three ends. I'm looking forward to seeing Deku finally learn to not nearly kill himself with his power. I'm also really looking forward to seeing Ochako be cool and cute. I hope she hurry up and confesses to Deku already. That'll be a great change of pace.
-
@Yuugi's:

He did fine against Stain if I remember correctly.

Seems to be a bit of an on-and-off thing with him, though.

Miro was said to be closest to All Might among heroes including Pros if I am not mistaken.
So while Overhaul was weaker than Miro I still think that Endeavor is more of a tank type of fighter and to win with Overhaul a lot speed is needed. I think that Best Jeanist is fairly weaker than Overhaul based on their feats we seen. -
Chapter 188 http://www.mangasail.com/content/boku-no-hero-academia-188
! RIP Endeavor
-
! On one hand, if Endeavor dies, having to name a new number 1 hero so soon is going to shake society, specially as a halfassed dude like Hawk is bound to follow soon after.
! On the other side, Endeavor having to face his failure as a hero and see what All Might built up without inner organs or a natural quirk, and being vulnerable for the first time in his life. Also, such detail of the scar, if he was going to die right now, the would would have been less precise. -
This post is deleted!
-
Looking at the attack panel, he gets pierced through the side close to the edge (very much non-fatal in standard battle shonen) but the head strike doesn't actually penetrate through his skull. So he'll have a nasty scar and probably an eye patch or something but is very likely to be alive.
Also, goddamn.
-
! Oh, get up, you crybaby. Losing half his head didn't even slow Whitebeard down.
-
Flamebeard < Whitebeard. Duh.

Endeavor is paying for his past. He will win, he will last.
-
I blame the lack of a propper flamestache for endeavor's problems
Or maybe you wouldn't overheat all the time if you weren't setting your face on fire for the branding. Just my 2 cents.
-
Nice work Endy, a decapitated head beat you.
Also that's a fucking monstrous nomu. Will it quit after beating Endy or will it rampage more.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Endavor will go plus ultra next chapter.
Also Hawks is a traitor…
-
I like it when good guys don't have it all their own way, makes things seem more fair. (No wonder I like Garou so much)
Also, both MHA and Black Clover have super short chapters this week, wonder why that is?

Crossover chapter of Bnha this week beside main story chapter with E vs HE
-
I see. Hadn't heard of that.
-
I'm unsure how you burn a building. Rock doesn't melt easily I think.
It's nice to see other heroes trying to provide reinforcement.
Flamebeard is doing pretty bad. I'm unsure why he is staying in the air where he is at a disadvantage. Is it to avoid involving more civilians? He's not good at moving there and he has to use more fire than on ground.
Hawks can use his feather as sword. It makes sense. I wonder if he is good at it or rely more on his mobility.
I'm not sure why shapeshifting and extendng are 2 distinct quirks.
So that Nomu is Cell? With all the fire Flamebeard's been using I wonder if we won't just have this Nomu leaving him as a loser because he couldn't entertain him. That would be an heavy blow on his ego. All Might manage to win even in his last fight.
So Flamebeard can overheat. I still wonder the effect of exterior fire on him.
-
So, he looks pretty dead.
So, he either survives this and suffers his punishment all the way, going through a genuine redemption arc by the end of being torn down, goes out in a desparate blaze of glory as an final act of goodness and further paves way for a potentially series-changing victory for the villains because he's the current #1 or he's already dead and nothing came from his attempts to become a better person, while STILL further undermining the order of society because he's the current #1.
These can also be combined because absolutely any type of victory for the villains takes them closer to possible chaos.
Basically from best to worst. The first option seems the most MHA-like. But I feel like the others would seriously disrupt the status quo and set up a seemingly hopeless situation to climb out of. Basically set up a pretty high-stakes story from here on out.
-
A courtesan and a priest, just like a TRAITOR would say.
The super camera worked, it showed her true form!
-
MS version made more sense this week for me, with Endeavor thinking "That why I found you" while thinking of his wife when he started to overheat, since he married her so his children would be born without that flaw.
On the other hand the High End is quite a monster, still I wonder if he knows about Endeavor´s overheating problem because he is smart or because he has Ragdoll´s quirk. And I think that the Noumus coming out of his body aren´t clones, mostly because they come with pants already, so maybe it is like Endeavor said, a power that lets him storage people on his body and letting them out (wich sounds like a really creepy power, useful for kidnapers)
-
Is like Oda obsesion with storage devil fruits (the pocket fruit, the swamp fruit..)
-
So, I know villains have to grow ever more powerful in a shonen, but the Nomu's are kind of awkward. The very first one was a challenge for All Might. Then they almost immediately introduced several more, and they were treated as the "oh crap we're screwed and have to stay away" threat for our leads, but groups of pro heroes were able to deal with them. But now this one is bigger and better than any before and able to easily take out the number 1 guy.
Like, these things are already leagues beyond what our main heroes can deal with. But if the badguys can keep making bigger better ones, well… the escalation is already past the point where our leads can effectively do anything because these things are trumping the top tier guys. How does the story, the series in general, deal with that in the long term?
It'd be kind of like if in Dragonball we had Z level villains hanging around during the young Goku years but were still supposed to take Red Ribbon seriously.
Naruto eventually dealt with its power scaling by having Naruto and Sasuke become ridiculous gods that grossly outshone anyone before them... and that really wasn't the best way to go about it.
-
For me this one is creepier than those examples in One Piece, because it looked like if the High End was literally giving birth to the Noumus after having them inside of him. Even the swamp one seems more comfortable for the victim than this one, even though I never really got how he kept his victims alive without drowning them.
-
The power scaling is under control because until they break out AllForOne this is the last strong Nomu.
The way that I see it, is like if the pro heroes went full force against the kids or became villains, Gang Orca could make everyone vomit with his ultrasound thing, Edgeshot would be very hard to capture and very deadly, Best Jeanist would be borderline unstopable except being caught by surprise by a strong nudist hero, Endeavor just vaporized a building.
This is not the high end of the world, this is the tier 2 villains finally making a move. Strong enough to be dangerous, but smart enough to know that All Might would just fuck them over.
Also, the odds of that Nomu still being battle ready are very low, when this same chapter we are reminded that Quirks have a very real physical component, the Nomus go beyond it, but it doesn't say infinite stamina.

Lol, Horikoshi has the worst foresight and story structure out of all the current shonen jump mangaka. To the point that it feels like whatever lingering plot thread he chooses to focus on is dictated by him throwing darts at a board of ideas. He wanted to do the Endeavour is a bad daddy who wants to change his ways/No 1 Hero is removed story line so he just farted out a Noumu that could do it. Never mind proper, careful volume long buildup of exploring the emotional state of an abusive father that drove his wife to boil her son's face off as well as the family who suffered his abuse or exploring the cool exciting ideas the villains had on how they could remove the strongest hero from the picture. Nah, just 3 chapters of a random super strong noumu and his wife staring at a pretty flower should cover all the emotional baggage (only like half a chapter of it actually exploring the family and the rest being dedicated to COOL action and a COOL new character because Horikoshi just isn't cut out for mature, complex story lines and is better suited for simpler shonen fare). Doesn't help that for all of Horikoshi's talent in drawing character designs and backgrounds, he can't choreograph a fight to save his life.

Oh, I didn't realize that the arc was already done.
-
Wonder if Endeavor is injured or dead. I hope he gets back on his feet, he's an interesting character who deserves to go out with a bang.
The fight however feels a bit… well... I have a hard time getting invested. It feels wrong seeing the Nomu beat Endeavor that easily. I don't mind introducing new Nomus that are insanely strong, I think it's good for the series. The problem lies in Endeavor not doing anything interesting. Hawk takes all the nice scenes saving civilians, and while Endeavor has unleashed some powerful attacks they're not drawn in a way where they feel powerful. So I really hope this isn't the end of the fight and he gets back up and gives Nomu a proper battle.
I'm also curious if Hawk is trying to set him up for something. Maybe give him better publicity by framing himself as the one saving civilians while playing up Endeavor as some chaotic man who only brings more destruction. Maybe Hawk even summoned the Nomu to get rid of him. I'm probably look to deeply into it, but I don't trust Hawk at all.

This is shonen. No one dies immediately from a shot like that. Especially not when they have a big redemption point to prove.

Endeavor's mental state has been being explored since the Hideout Raid arc, lol.
Seriously, you're pretty much a parody of yourself at this point.
-
Someone needs to read Black Clover.
-
I read that as a jealous shonen jump author going on a Monoma-esque rant before another shonen jump mangaka chopped him in the head
-
Somehow I feel like All Might created a curse where the 1st place hero is gonna wind up scarred. Deku is already jacked up lol.
-
All Might created a curse by upholding a System where its success depends exclusivelly of the adoration and/or fear of whom is in the top.
Kinda like a metaphor for Shonen Jump.
-
That system might change with more heroes working together as groups or pairs of heroes.
That would go well with theme of friendship and facings strong enemies together - we got that with Stein fight.
Still, from hated character to character I want to get up and burn High End to ash - that is quite a leap. I want Endeavor to win, I do not want him to sacrifice himself.
Hawk is not suited for Nr 1.
-
Yeah, I think the ultimate thematic point here is gonna be that relying on having one symbol really isn't the best idea.
-

Whoa. What if the whole series is a metaphor for WSJ? All Might is obviously One Piece, since both have to keep taking breaks more frequently but still hold the top effortlessly. And Endeavor might be Fairy Tail or something for abusing its female characters.
-

Or metaphor for taking over some big manga, like Bleach was. It was big, it was not great but it was big. Endeavor taking over All Might is like BNHA taking over position in top 3 in some ways.
-
So Edgeshot is supposed to be a metaphorical representation of Naruto?
Jeanist is Hunter x Hunter, currently on hiatus.
-
If Endeavor actually gets up and fights back, I imagine him using a new form, like umbreakable Red Riot, but with blue flames instead, even if he has to burn himself to defeat or make the high end run for now. But since he used blue flames in the anime to defeat the black noumu with regeneration, maybe his final attack in this chapter already used them and failed to kill him, I guess a character would have pointed it out if the flames were blue, but who knows.
-
I don't think Endeavor's dead, but the question of him continuing as number one should come up. This could start a trend where heroes don't want to be on top for fear of getting hurt or killed. If All Might and Endeavor can be taken down, why not them? We have confirmation Endeavor hooked up with Rei to create a weakness free quirk kid. It also sent my headcanon senses into overdrive. If Endeavor wanted a Shoto but instead got a kid with a suped-up flame quirk he'd be furious and deem that kid a complete failure. And if that same kid tried to prove him wrong and ended up burning his skin in the process, oh boy.
As for the Nomu are too strong debate, I won't make a definite stand until we know exactly how nomus are made like whether AFO is required and how long it takes to make a High End model. Will say I love nomus being super strong. That means no one can one-shot them and team-ups are necessary.
And shoutout to Aizawa for getting Eri out the room when Endeavor got hurt.
Endavor will go plus ultra next chapter.
Also Hawks is a traitor…
You think this is all a plan to make Hawks number one? I honestly can't tell if he's really a bad guy or not. But, I can totally see him not accepting the number one spot making Edge Shot the new top hero.
-

Oh man, that's fantastic. High-End seems to personally just want a fun fight, DBZ style, but whoever's controlling him might be using that to endlessly destabilize the top hero spot. Any newly anointed hero has to expect High-End to come looking to thrash them and that's the new era we've been told to expect.
-
I still don't quite get the Shoto is related to Dabi theory. Shoto and Dabi did see each other in the forest and nothing came of it. Not even a hint or recognition happened. Is Endeavour even rich enough to make a mutilated kid disappear? His wife was one thing cause she hurt one of her kids so it was easy to put her in a mental ward. But a kid that people know about? There would have been investigations I would think. I feel like if this is what Horikoshi is leading us towards there's gonna have to be a lot of explanations to justify this.

That all assumes Dabi Todoroki was mutilated the last time anyone saw him and Endeavor is the one responsible for his leaving as opposed to his just running away.
It's equally likely Dabi ran away in his own and his mutilation, however it occurred, came after.
-
Well… he definitely die, but I'm surprised the predicted serious injury/death is happening right now. Then again, I guess it'd be lame if the High End Nomu got dealt with when it only just got introduced.
