Things have been quiet.
I think this might been the longest in years they've been quiet.
Maybe someone told them that Pokemon Let's Go Yellow and Let's Go Brown were bad ideas.

Well not every likes Yellow or Brown mustard so that makes sense:ninja:
Well, they seem to have learned their lessons after pokemon S&M to not call this one Yellow and Brown, or No1 and No2.
If this Go thing is legit don't know how I feel about it. It seems Nintendo is going to try and reinvent their games due to the success of Mario/Zelda, but I wonder how the Pokemon fans will deal with it.
Going back to Kanto would be fun though.
So it's not clear yet if these games are the first batch of Gen 8, right? Though Nintendo has had a tradition of launching the next Gen after the release of a new IP. To further elaborate:
R/B/Y - GB
G/S/P - GBC
R/S/E/FR/LG - GBA
D/P/P/HG/SS/B/W/B2/W2 - DS
X/Y/OR/AS/S/M/US/UM - 3DS
Only the fact Pikachu and Eevee are the flagships casts a doubt, but for all we know, it could be a reboot and these get brand new evolutions.

pretty much like they've dealt with a variety of new aspects that get introduced every generation.
Complaining about how it sucks and makes that gen the worse in the franchise .
I still remember how many people overreacted when Sun and Moon were announced and one of the first statements about the games was that there would be no gyms.
OMFG, THEY ARE RUININ MAH POKIMAN…!
I don't think they'll ever seriously change the core catching, battling, breeding etc. concepts until the day I die.
I think Go integration will function like Amiibo support, used for some bonuses, nonessential content, whatever. While still understandably frustrating and sort of predatory, I actually find it a little less insulting than Amiibos because at least Go is theoretically free (theoretically) and functions as a game in its own right.

would you say they're….switching things up?
gets shot

I think you need to, switch up your puns.
I'm secretly hoping that "Let's Go" is really "Lego".
A Lego Indigo League game could be really cute.
There's a temp logo for the game up on the UK Nintendo store:
It has stripes for some reason.
Pokemon Stripes and Pokemon Checkers.
Calling it now
It almost looks like stardust falling.
Would ya'll be ok with a new Fire Fighting as long as it isn't a starter?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Checking the table of types still not combined, it didn't change during 7.5, as Psychic/Dragon, Dragon/Poison, Rock/Steel and Fire/Ghost already exsisted so the remaining uncombined ones are:
Normal: Poison, Rock, Bug, Ghost, Steel, Ice
Fighting: Ground, Electric, Fairy
Poison: Normal, Steel, Electric, Psychic, Ice, Fairy
Ground: Fighting, Fairy
Rock: Normal, Ghost (uh?)
Bug: Normal, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, Dark
Ghost: Normal, Rock
Steel: Normal, Poison
Fire: Grass, Ice, Fairy
Grass: Fire
Electric: Fighting, Dark
Psychic: Poison, Bug
Ice: Normal, Poison, Bug, Fire
Dragon: Bug
Dark: Bug, Electric, Fairy
Fairy: Fighting, Poison, Ground, Fire, Dark
Water, Flying : Full.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
While I'm talking again:
Prepare for tomorrow
Let's get ready for UNREALISTIC FAN EXPECTATIONS!
Also, I don't care if there is another fire-fighting, just not to the starter. Do fire poison, fire ground, fire fairy, just not another fucking fire-fighting.
I need an Ice Fighting that's not what we just got
I think that any ice/anything will be unimpressive, outside of inverse battles, or overpowered stats and abilities.
What are the odds we actually get a new type in this game?
Why? New types are introduced to add balance when a type becomes too strong, or there was a niche too open, like dark and fairy to counter psychic and dragon, or steel to provide a highly defensive type. I'm not fully into the game right now, but the main power comes from what right now? Last tournament I payed atention most VGC was dominated by Tapu Koko and the electric ultra beast, with most tech choices made to counter them.
Get ready to be disappointed
So, my report was a fake one, product of a mistranslation of "I hope you have a happy week".
What are the odds we actually get a new type in this game?
Non, maybe a new eevee evolution.
I'm surprised Ice hasn't been fixed yet. It has 4 weaknesses and only resists itself. That's awful. Make it resist Ground and Dragon. And take away the Steel weakness so Ice has some use over Fairy.
Get ready to be disappointed
Considering it's being announced on a children's show (according to the article anyway) I concur
They use Oha Suta to make Pokemon-related announcements all the time though, or reveal stuff for the mainline games. I don't recall Oha Suta being the first to officially announce an actual mainline game but it's definitely a regular channel for Pokemon-related reveals.
Rumors are saying that an announcement is coming in about 3 and a half hours. 1130 JST.
Given historical precedent we'll just get a blurry screenshot or something with lots of "Sugoi!"s.
Buckle your seatbelts for fan outrage and disappointment
Or hype that leads to the above, your call.
Seems to be Kanto only for now and Freemium, "its for new players", yes show new players what a Pokemon game is like with not the actual game, but a spinoff.
Two more games that are both at least RPGs. One for 2018, one for 2019. I still have hope!
Serebii just confirmed Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee.
I never expected a mainline Pokemon game this year. It would be insane for Nintendo to put 4 of their heavy hitters (Smash, Zelda, Mario and Pokemon) all in the same year. Spread em out.
EDIT: LOL NM, Nintendo wants to blow their load early this time.

It is indeed Let's Go! Pikachu and Eevee. Story to follow.
From Eurogamer.
I guess Gen 8 is 2019 and now we get the remakes.
And here's a trailer:
Trailer
Edit: Ups already posted.
Well looks great to me, battling seems to be the same, we just get Pokemon go catching now.
I… I do not want to play what I just watched. I've caught the original 151 so much and I'd have to buy a new system for it. Hope the 2019 games are more my speed.

Why? looks good to me…I doubt the 2019 games will have drastically different graphics from this if that is what is bothering you.
With #PokemonQuest and #PokemonLetsGo, there are so many new ways to explore the world of Pokémon! Trainers can look forward to even more with an all-new core series Pokémon RPG title in development for the second half of 2019!
So it's not a "mainstream new gen game," this time. That's coming next year.
Alright, that seems fair. Like I said, they have to save SOMETHING for later on. This looks interesting, to say the least. Hope it turns out good.
Starting to feel like old pokemon fans aren't happy with literally anything, I'm not super happy about a remake either, but people just complain about everything now, I understand 4chan since they hate on basically everything on basically every board, but that seems to be leaking out to the rest of the community.
As a guy who uses his Switch 100% in handheld mode, this main gimmick with the joycon means nothing to me.
Everything else looks like standard pokemon though, for better or worse.

The graphics are fine, but I don't own a switch and this isn't enticing for me. If I knew there were some new pokemon, evolutions, or a bigger, better Kanto, then I'd be interested, maybe, but It's not enough for me to lay down that kind of money. I'm a sucker for the mainline games, though, so here's hoping 2019 Pokemon is fresh.

They probably let you catch them normally anyway.

Well we don't know much yet, they just showed a little trailer, I didn't buy my Switch for Pokemon only, but yeah if you are buying it just for that and you don't like this one yeah wait for 2019.
I like the two player stuff a lot, I'll have some fun with that with my friends and my little nephew.

Welcome to fandom.
But in all seriousness, his is probably a way to for them to do trial runs on new concepts without hitching it to a new generation. We get a switch level remake of Pokemon Yellow with some new ideas to see if fans like them (after the IT'S NEW I HATE IT fever dies down) with the promise of Gen 8 next year.
Seems fine to me, but I'm a reasonably logical person. I reckon the nerdrage is already at hellstorm level now.

It is really annoying, like I see people raving on 4chan about how good the Pokemon Phoenix Rising fangame is, I have to sit through minutes and minutes of uninteresting dialogue to actually star playing the game, yet they complain about the story/cut-scenes of Sun/Moon, feels like complaining just to complain, but as I said that is their thing.

I could write a thesis on the amount of bullshit stuff Gamefreak has clung too over the generations that only NOW are they slowly starting to let go.
Like holy shit let people fucking turn off the tutorials or skip cutscenes.
But whatever, this looks fun at least.

That's true, but I'm going by the assumption that the leakers who initially leaked Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee were right and that information. I hope that I'm proven wrong and that this is not only a remake of yellow with new bells and whistles, but a complete revamp of Kanto with the other 6 gens of Pokemon available somewhere. I've been playing since the games first came out in the U.S. and the original 151 are nostalgic, but I don't get much joy from them anymore. But you're right, It'll be better to wait and hope there's more to this.

I'm pretty tired of the Kanto pandering also as I've said before so yeah I'm hoping for more, just didn't get down on the games right away, the leakers did say we could transfer other pokemon when Pokebank becomes available for the Switch though didn't they? maybe we can catch some post game.

Honestly, this just seems to be a Yellow remake to help tide people over while the core games are being worked on. Which I am sure they probably want to be written up in the sky to calm down the fans.
