I really want a grass starter pokemon either Sceptile or decidueye for this new game
Super Smash Bros
-
-
I honestly think, at this point, we may have a Fire, Water, and Grass in the form of Charizard, Greninja, and Rowlet/Decidueye. Rowlet is the most popular Pokemon from polls concerning Sun/Moon.
-
To make Shulk's moveset work with Rex they would have to put in like 5 "partners" or blades to represent the style change of the monado. The main two of the game are a lock, but one is the default and the other is the "power" or "smash" one.
Given the gimmick in Xenoblade 2 is three blades per character, I would imagine a moveset based on that.
Xenoblade 2 spoilers in comment below
! It also helps for this that Pyra/Mythra has three personalities. Alternatively, you can have Pyra, Mythra and BladeNia, and the final smash involves Pythra/Myra.
-
Or you could have Mòrag and her sweet hat.
-
Rosalina is already the Jojo Character of the game.
-
And Zelda:
and Little Mac.
And Luigi: (in brawl)
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And Duck Hunt
for completitude:

You're saying more Jojo is a bad thing?

Nevah! But is joylene time.

A couple more:
And sadly, as Wii Fit trainer isn't very popular, no one did fanart but:

Are you.. a bot? They are evolving.

I know im the only one here, but I love big rosters. Would love if they kept the current roster and just added on to it.
-
Rule 1 for making a fake Smash Bros leak:
Never include Ridley in your fake roster.
Ridley is never happening. Ever.
The fact that so many people WANT it to happen means it's enticing to put in your "Leak" to get people excited. But don't. It's an immediate tell you're full of shit.
-
Ridley really deserves to be in… But yeah, when I heard of a leak with Ridley being playable I was just like "Yeah, no". Sakurai just really seems to have something against adding him at this point.
-
Which is a shame mostly because Metroid deserves more reps than… Samus.
Even the size scale thing shouldn't be a thing since Bowser fluctuates his size from game to game seemingly dependent on his mood. If Bowser can be a giant but also just be 6 feet tall, so can Ridley.
-
-
At this point I find it hard to believe that it would be "just a port", less than 20 days away and we know nothing and the only noteworthy leak has been Ice Climbers (safe bet), Ridley (if Sakurai had to cave in to some long time request, I'd say is with him) and Simon Belmont (this is not an erotic pachinko, Konami doesn't play ball, except pachinko balls), so this is neat.
-
Give us Anthony Higgs.
-
Come on Rayman and Bomberman!
I don't even care about Rayman but after realizing last Smash that he's been around way longer than I thought for dozens of games, he kind of deserves a spot.
Go right along with Megaman, Pacman, and Jumpman.
-
Bandanna Waddle Dee in Smash would be pretty cool.
Or maybe, some more character reps that aren't from Mario, Pokemon, or Fire Emblem.
-
Shrek! Goku! Hank Hill! Oh right, "realizable" options only.
I remember that Rayman fake leak from a few years back. It'd be nice to see it really happen this time.
-
If Fire Emblem gets just A rep and fix the spread by merging them back to a manageable number of slots (fuse roy/marth/lucina, add as many generic lords as you'd like as skins), and pokemon just gets A rep, then I'm cool. Mario should get either 0 or 1, I'm more inclined to 0.
Keep the transforming characters split, and if they introduce new ones make them more niche oriented, think back to Zelda and Sheik, but with sheik that can KO only at 200, so you have to turn to zelda in order to actually get kills. The splits made sense because the parts weren't very cohesive fighting wise, so lean closer to Shulk rather than Zelda in the design.
I liked what they did with most newcomers of 4, with Greeninja being the most normal character of the non clone bunch, Zoning masters Pacman, Megaman and Duck Hunt, ground only Little mac, stand user Rosalina, weird poses double hitbox Wii Fit Trainer, Attacks stamina/Conditional air smashes Robin, statistics control Shulk, disjointed master Villager, "I'm mostly normal but I can attack after my third jump and I'm really 8 characters in one" Bowser Jr, the weird movesets of Ryu and Bayoneta.
I'm sad that I forgot Palutena, but her niche is "use this inpractical out of combat mechanic or she's useless". And I realized how little I care about the Miis.

FE is losing some slots, it's just a matter of who. I think Marth and Ike are safe, maybe Robin for diversity?
I mean maybe FE16 protagonist will be added in the same vein as Roy or Corrin??? It depends on the timeframe I guess. Although maybe Lyn gets promoted like Little Mac :ninja:
-
Roy is our boy though, isn't he?
I reckon they keep Marth, Ike, Robin and Corrin, and Roy for shits. They can ditch everyone else.
-
hmmmm
I love Roy and have used him since Melee, but I'd be fine if he gets the boot. -
I think Roy has been around enough to earn his spot. Maybe change up a few skills, but throwing him out I don't think is right.
Fucking make Lucina an alt skin though, Jesus christ what was the reason she was given her own character spot. That was just LAZY.
(Is probably aware there is a minor meta competitive difference between both characters, but it's stupid and you know it.)
-
There is a minor difference
and Lucina is worse because of it
-
They should have ditched Marth for Lucina. :ninja:
-
They should have ditched marth for Roy, Roy for Lyn and Lyn for Lucina. Lyn did deserve her own moveset tho.

[hide]I have a secret.
[hide]IKE'S THE BEST AND MOST POPULAR FIRE EMBLEM CHARACTER, AND HE'S RETURNING NO MATTER WHAT! MUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU~<3[/hide][/hide][/hide] -
I wouldn't mind if they looked at FEH polls and figured "hey, Ike is the most popular guy and he's in smash… perhaps we should upgrade Lyn to playable and make Corn an assist trophy instead"
-
I hope they will add Pichu as DLC fighter? I can't see sakura adding the little one back unless he changes Pichu's move sets.
-

I think things are going to depend a lot on what the next Fire Emblem is going to be, and who the main character is.
That said, I don't think Lyn is completely unreasonable. The four winners of the FEH poll were Ike, Lyn, Roy, and Lucina. Three of those four have been playable. I'm down for Lyn, but I'm also down for some non-sword Fire Emblem fighters. Here is hoping the next main character uses something other than a sword, because I doubt we'll see the like of Ephraim, Hector, or Macaiah.
Also, I really hope they start putting more trophies into the game based off of Fire Emblem. They've been repeating quite a few trophies. I don't think new Fire Emblem guys from past games is completely out of the question.
-
They should put the unpronounceable gun from Heroes and have it work as a pokeball for fire emblem characters.

Hector and Epharim were two of the four winners of the more recent Heroes' poll, but I can't imagine they include them given their games are so old. That's probably what hurts Lyn as well; aside from Marth (the original protagnist) all the others were included in Smash when their game was the most recently released or close to release. By that logic, you'd expect either the two main characters (they'd be skins of each other) from Warriors or if there's a new game coming this year, the main character from that to be included, if any at all.
-
If they put the forgettable twins instead of Warriors Gannondorf I swear to God that I'll write ANGRY LETTERS at Nintendo.

To be fair, Lyn was an assist theory for both Brawl (~5 years after her game) and Smash 4 (10+ years after her game), indicating that she's still in the developer consciousness. She even managed to out-roster Hector and Ephrain and actually be playable in Warriors too.
Heck, iirc IS was surprised she beat Lucina in the first CYL poll.
-
The talk about booting Marth is making me sad ;_; he's my main…
Lucina was just another clone that the development team made in their spare time, who got an unusual amount of hype and then became even more irrelevant when Roy came out as DLC. I'd rather Roy just fully take over her spot in Smash 5, and I'm cool with Ike and Corrin staying too.
-
Even if Marth is booted, there is a horde of blue haired swordsmen and women ready to take his blade, fighting style and poise.
-
Marth is NOT going to be booted, lol.

Most of the assist trophies in Brawl carried over to 4 and two that didn't (Little Mac and Gray Fox) were because of reasons that are understandable, so it's not that surprising Lyn stayed as well (after all, they have an already made model).
And I don't think Warriors matters that much given that it's made by a different company than Smash and Ike wasn't included despite the fact he's super popular.
I get she's popular among Fire Emblem fans, but if popularity mattered, we'd see King K. Rool before her (and he hasn't had a true apperance since the 64 days) amongst dozens of other characters.
-
Isaac and I don't remember if it was the excite bikers or the advance wars tanks were also dropped.
Helirin, Barbara the Bat..

Fair enough.

The main difference here is that K. Rool hasn't been in any massively successful installments recently where his inclusion led to financial profit, whereas the FEH poll showing Lyn's popularity and FEH as Nintendo's only mobile game to see significant success means that there's more recent evidence for Lyn being a solid inclusion versus K. Rool.
This would be a different conversation too if we had access to the results of the Smash Bros polls outside of knowing Bayonetta was big in most regions. If we had that data and it showed K. Rool as having a significant lead, then yes, I would agree that's more likely. But as it is, the only data we have is the FEH poll showing Lyn to be significantly popular, so it doesn't stand as unreasonable to wonder if her getting multiple iterations in FEH and being included in Warriors despite koei tecmo wanting to focus NOT on her game is a good sign for her being upgraded in Smash.
Ultimately, of course, it's all conjecture. Since Cloud, Corrin and Bayonetta it honestly feels like anything could happen in terms of who's in Smash, even if there's no rhyme or reason.
-
The only people who I honestly think are safe as far as Fire Emblem is concerned is Marth and MAAAAYBE Ike. Everyone else could easily have their head on the chopping block. Lucina might be safe, but she might also become a Marth alt instead of a unique-ish moveset.

A poll for only Fire Emblem characters isn't a good gauge for anything besides Fire Emblem (and despite polling high, neither Ike and Roy made it to Warriors). King K. Rool at least tends to show up on fan polls and studies of decent size for Smash on both sides of the Pacific/Atlantic (and does well in them) along with characters like Wolf, Shovel Knight, Banjo Kazooie, etc., meanwhile, I've never seen Lyn (or any Fire Emblem character post-Smash four) at any high spot, and I've seen some weird choices.
Personally, I don't think either King K. Rool or Lyn will be included.
-
I had a side thought (pretty unlikely, but) - Takamaru getting the Little Mac upgrade. Could be neat, but sadly I think his series (or game?) is far too obscure. Speaking of, I think Mac is a safe keep.
-
Ah it's that time again! I quite like that the most credible rumors or hints this time around involve playable Ridley. We'll see what happens though! Hope is a wonderful thing!
-

I feel like Robin's safe. Aside from having a unique moveset, he represents a game that literally saved Fire Emblem as a series from cancellation.
Not too sure about the others, seeing as Roy and Lucina are almost direct clones of Marth and the reaction to Corrin's inclusion was mixed, to say the least.
-
Corin has the distinction of being the 30th fire emblem character, and that they were the only non veteran non 3rd party DLC character.
In a world where Lucina and Roy are costumes and Corin is in the base game, this is not an issue.
-
Honestly, for FE what we need is to remove at least Corrin and Lucina, probably Roy too.
Then We're left with Marth, Ike, and Robin.
Then, they need to introduce at least 2 new FE characters, one needs to be a Bow user and one needs to be a spear user.
I'm not a super huge FE player, but I've played Awakening and one of the coolest things is the Rock-Paper-Scisors style that goes along with the game and it's kinda dumb to me that out of 6 FE characters, we have 1 magic user and 5 sword users.
for a series that's usually better at representing the games it's pulling from, it's odd to me that Smash hasn't even attempted to present this mechanic.
