Unfortunately, almost all OP side material is either about the Straw Hats, Ace, or Sabo. And it is usually some cheesy repetitive uncreative episode which doesn't contribute to further building up the characters. It's mostly very basic storytelling playing off of basic character traits that everyone is tired of seeing, like Luffy being dumb, Sanji being either chivalrous or a perv, Zoro being a badass, etc. The most entertaining are the movies Oda helped make, and even those are quite formulaic. This is why I want Oda to focus as much as possible in the manga and leave these kinds of side projects. And please no sequels to milk the series after it's done, like Boruto. Especially no sequels like Boruto.

Hey, what exactly do you have against Boffy: Luffy Next Generations?

Buffy the next pirate slayer would be funnier…

Oh god. Goda have mercy on us all.
-
You know it's coming. Hancock has the hots for Monkey-chan after all…
In all seriousness I couldn't agree more. It's really a shame to see a waste of paper the likes of One Piece Party when there are so many interesting side characters and places to explore in the world of One Piece. I would pay good money to have a spin off centered on the Donquixote family, or an adventure taking place in any of those hyped New World islands we never got to explore.
-
Oh yeah, I forgot about OP Party. That's not too bad actually, way better than stuff like Chopperman. But I think one or 2 volumes of it would have been enough. Constantly using the same type of jokes becomes too repetitive too fast…

Gotta tell you, I wasn't much into the Boruto idea but started reading the manga cause I had free time and it's actually good.
It's not great yet but it's certainly more entertaining and better put together than the final stages of Naruto. It's worth giving a shot. -
@Count:
That website is using Wikipedia, and thus the sources linked at the bottom.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_comic_series Batman's sales numbers seem to be from 2015 though.
What criteria are they using for "Batman" and "Superman" only having ~430mil and >600 Mil respectively? Those numbers sound low. Detective Comics and Action Comics are about to hit issue 1000 each, and both of those characters have several series' running in tandem (In the last few years, Batman has had: Batman, Detective comics, Batman: Dark Knight, Weekly Batman Eternal, and All-Star Batman) running for decades since the freaking 40s!!
How is One Piece THIS close to overtaking it?!
-
The thing with spin-offs like this is that for them to make sense thy have to be focused already insanely popular character in order to justify making them. So the ones that would qualify aside of SHs, Ace and Sabo are few.
The most obvious one that comes to mind is Law, and actually having a little comedy spin-off focusing on his and Heart Pirates challenging the first part of GL in a yellow submarine could be fun, but I guess it'd get stale real fast and focus too much on Law himself. Plus, we're gonna go lots of the guys in few months, so it won't be much better than having SHs.
Then you have Hancock, but I can't imagine anything other than fanservice and repeating one/two (two only if it was to be happening after meeting Luffy) jokes over and over. She's too stale for a comedy and I feel that despite her having very few appearances we know everything there is to know about her. Shanks is supposed to be really important and mysterious character for now, and with his really scarce existence in the manga, I can't see it working, you can't do anything serious about him yet and doing a comedy would risk his image in a spin-off overtaking his actual self in eyes of fans and destroying it partially. And that's really about it when you consider the ones continuously getting or getting near the top 10 most popular characters (it's not perfect source, but the only other way of judging I can imagine is analyzing merchandise and that I can't be bothered to do).

I would love to see Doffy forms his family, the early exploits of Crocodile, the training of the admirals, an operation of the Revolutionaries, how Teach formed his core crew after leaving the WB pirates,Shanks shenanigans in East Blue. The life and times of the yonkous, it's a endless sea of possibilities that would i murder my wallet for.

Hi everybody!!
The next week I will be in Tokyo and I am very interested to see the One Piece 20th Anniversary Exposition in Tokyo Tower (I will go Monday surely)
I've a question about the ticket prices and what it's included, if anyone have been there.
Reading the official page (in English), there is a ticket for Attractions and another for Live and Attractions. The One Piece 20th Anniversary Exposition not appears in Attractions section; it appears in Event section. My doubt is if I need the complete ticket or with the Attractions Ticket is enought (I will go with friends that not are One Piece fans, maybe it's to much for them).
Any idea?
Anyway, I will put some photographs here when I return home.
Thanks in advance! :)

The Attraction ticket should be enough for the exhibit. The Live Attraction has a schedule( it's own mini-theater area) and fun to watch. The exhibit is neat and I enjoyed seeing original panels. This is the second part of the exhibit focusing on battle so a lot of it are artwork of finishing blows. Have fun!!! I highly recommend One Piece fans visiting Japan to drop by Tokyo One Piece Tower since it has a bit of everything (live shows, merch, mugiwara store, cafe/restaurant)

One Piece Novel - Straw Hat stories clean Oda illustration.

Why Oda..
-
Sanji is the only one not interacting with anyone. Definitely a foreshadowing of death :ninja:.

Why Oda..
[qimg]https://i.imgur.com/Dcre1cw.jpg[/qimg]And we can't even see Robin's hand… Is she grabbing Franky's? What does that mean for Jinbe? She did say he was a handsome man... Now I'm sad. Every time a new anniversary thing is released without Jinbe, it just feels wronger and wronger
-
So with ~8 chapters left in this year, and still tons of stuff to wrap up in this arc, I think it's safe to assume Jinbe isn't making it on any 20th anniversary spread or anything. He was denied any "regular" spot because he isn't a Straw Hat, but also poll spread because he kinda is a Straw Hat. Eh, Oda. By the way, I think the popularity poll color spread is a good metaphor of post-time-skip One Piece, with SHs generally getting less screen time due to sharing it with side characters more important than usual, but with Luffy still having the same amount of attention if not more (aside of the war).
-
So, we have 5 spines left to see (including this week's). What do you guys think will still be shown? Maybe Ace's "thank you" death moment, then Luffy's breakdown, Jinbe's "count what you still have", "I still have my crew", and finally the new vow to be pirate king in Sabaody?
-
^ beautiful.
I see a threesome with Usopp, Zoro and Nami incoming in the novel cover, with Zoro as uke. Sanji must only fap or wait for Jinbe, Brook with the seaguls is so weird. Luffy with Chopper is just fine and expected.

Yami-chan from To Love-Ru/Darkness by Eiichiro Oda

Good work, redon!!
Oda's color spread for OP and Kyoto (Wano) collaboration is awesome. It's from Shonen Jump official video today. Audience were not allowed to take a pic for the color spread in the event last month.360 degree video for this color spread starts at 14m 07s. It's announced that they will delete this video in the future.
Already posted this before, but Anime News Network made a good summary for this spin-off story. (It's not confirmed yet if the story was written by Oda.)

The picture is behind security glass, i could just imagine how many people would love to get their hands on this beautiful artwork :)
But art being presented in such a beautiful place seems really fitting. -

Got my One Piece Novel - Straw Hat stories today!! It has a mini-postcard as a present.

I thought the size would be larger than a tankoubon, for some reason. I'll wait for some reviews before spending money on it, though. I don't find it very interesting from what we know so far.

Every time I see your manga collection pics on AP and Twitter, I can't help being impressed at your great contribution to manga industry.

I finished reading Straw Hats novels. Some of the novels were already included in OP Magazine, but Shueisha added extra novels when releasing the volume. My favorite is Novel Franky.
Novel Ace is more entertaining to read than Novel Straw Hats since the latter focuses on ordinary people who are interested in Straw Hats, but I'm satisfied with the embossed cover :) -
Sandman, I hope you'll Make a resume for luffy's Novel and zoro's at least

I still haven't explored all the content in the magazines yet. Don't have much time for that stuff lately. Thank you for your contributions to the OP fan community as always! It's thanks to people like you and redon that these forums are so worth visiting

Incredibly loved that, a huge thanks for linking it. It's nice to have an account of Oda as seen by those who have been close to him.

Weekly Shonen Jump #50/2017 spine, thanks to @ARIMORIA.

Does this mean no Jinbe scene? Really?

Awww too bad. At least we know it was Jimbei who caused Luffy to get so emotional right there.
