@Nilitch:
What do you mean ? WW1 was a pointless mess ? or that we had Brits, Croatians, Turks and Native americans fighting in WW1 in the same side ?
Yeah, Native Americans in WWI are ridiculous! There were also absolutely zero Croatian deserters, it's not like that was a common thing.
And as for the Turks… where was a Turk in the movie? I don't remember any Turks on the Allied side in the movie... The only time the Turks were mentioned was on the German side...
Also, the folks they had helping them were mercenaries.... they weren't on anyone's "Side" except the ones paying them.
@Insider2000:
I swear, every defense towards BvS sounds like an insult towards people who dislike it at this point. Instead of just "Hey, BvS is good because of this reason."
This. 1000x This.
Any time I'm in a comic book setting there are going to be those DCEU Fans who can't take that there is a good chunk of us who hated Batman V. Superman. The excuses for why are as numerous as they are dumb:
1: "You're just whiny baby Marvel Fans who can't take it now that DC is kicking Marvel's Ass!"
(I'm a fan of both Marvel and DC in the comics, but prefer DC. I am LOVING Rebirth right now)
[This one IS dying now that Wonder Woman gets praise however.]
2: "The plot wasn't a confusing mess! You're just idiots who can't understand a more intellectual movie."
(Watchmen is my favorite Zack Snyder movie and I think he did a solid job adapting it even if he didn't hit every mark)
3: "You're just hating on Zack Snyder because it's popular to hate on him! You know he did write Wonder Woman right?"
(Ok, first, see my answer to #2. Second, He was one of 4 people who got a "Story by" credit, he was not the only voice in there nor did he write the final screenplay or direct.)
Or the variation on this one:
3b: "You can't hate on BvS or be worried about Justice League! Zack Snyder had a personal tragedy! How dare you criticize anything he's done! This tragedy means his work is perfect and can never be criticized!"
@Insider2000:
Even the "Oh, people just hate DC films" is largely dead because majority liked Wonder Woman and a large amount are excited for Justice League. But now somehow, liking those is bad now, because it extends our 'fast talking to sound smart' ways? We're not even defending DC films at this point. It's just this one movie that really isn't worth it in the long run. I mean, it was the second movie of the DCU.
Eh…
Personally I liked Man of Steel more than I disliked it, It WAS nice to finally see Superman get into an actual fight with a supervillain in a movie instead of the villain just being Lex Luthor with a zany real estate scam again. But it was severely flawed. If I had to give it a score out of 10, I'd probably give it like a 6/10.
Suicide Squad was pretty bad. Which makes me sad because aside from one very big exception, the movie has a stellar cast. Harley, Boomerang, Deadshot: All perfect casting for these characters... and especially... Amanda. Freaking. Waller. Oh wow is Amanda Waller perfectly cast. Like, Waller and the rest of the cast is so good I almost want to forgive the movie for Jared Leto's Joker (Almost, let's not get crazy)
But the movie was very obviously reshot and recut after the reception to the trailer to make the tone fall more in line with the trailer so we end up with a disjointed film with some tone whilpash issues as a result. Also the vilain was weak.
Enough was good here that I really hope they get it together for the second one. maybe going in and knowing from the get-go what kind of tone they're going for will produce a better film? Because again, stellar freaking cast. They deserve another shot for that alone.
..... Wait, I'm doing this wrong... I can't have a varied and complex opinion of these films....
Uum... Whoo boy, them films was badly edited they wuz!
I no like bad edited movies. Give good edited films please, then me like.
@Insider2000:
You know what the second movie of the MCU was? Incredible Hulk. We all know how well that went.
Yeah, Incredible Hulk was mediocre, but I honestly think Iron Man 2 was worse if only because it feels like there's a good movie in there buried under the ham-fisted Avengers setup.
