Bleach Discussion █: Soul Society, but not!
-
-
A little something random. I've recently gotten into a podcast called "The Last Podcast on the Left", which discusses topics like cults, serial killers, conspiracies, and the like… but with almost no seriousness whatsoever.
The reason that's relevant is because, in the third part of their series on Charles Manson, they play a speech he made and, while it too me a while to notice, and assuming it doesn't have somewhere else it could come from, they were playing
in the background. They then go on to note you can play that music behind any speech and make it more intense.I found it interesting since, far as I know the hosts aren't anime fans. The only time I've heard them mention anime at all is in relation to the Aum Shinrikyo Japanese death cult.
If you want to hear for yourself it comes within the first two and a half minutes of the episode

We're not done yet! New AL article on the post-canon stuff.
http://theappliedlogic.blogspot.com/2017/08/bleach-analysis-theres-actually-more.html! Holy sh*t! Aizen got a new chair!?

@Your:
! Holy sh*t! Aizen got a new chair!?
Chair-sama is dead. Long live Chair-sama!
-
Can some on give a summery of what happens?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Okay i read some, holy shit it would have been hilarious if Shun and Ichibee went through with there plan.
-
Looking through the stuff, done right this could have made for some interesting material. Learning all of this from a novel after the series was done, most of it comes off as hilarious and/or needlessly complicated.
The bigger question is once the live action movie happens, will this beast finally be put to rest? It's been a year since the series ended, and this thread pops its head up every once in a while to remind all of us about its existence. I like to think the idea of Giselle and those that were dead that came back is a perfect metaphor for this series. We may think its dead, but it will come back to haunt us.
-
So my theory of the soul king being the paperweight of reality was true.
Id wish that aizen and chair managed to get the seat.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh, it was hinted at why aizen isn't the paperweight. ok then.
-
Wow. Just look at all that. I ain't gonna read it. Some of it seems contrived, and a lot of it would have been nice if kubo was better at planning out the story. The soul king being quincy, or vice versa, just seems plain stupid. Why add that? It doesn't really affect much. Orihime's power having a one day time limit is complete bullshit. She restored grimmjow's arm like 2-3 days after it was incinerated. Oh goody, many of the sternritter are alive. Fucking how? So the details of how Nel saved urahara and co. are not necessary?
You know, I honestly wouldn't mind teaming up with a few of you guys to completely rewrite bleach post SS arc. There are some good ideas here. It's just a mess is all.
-
Fucking owl-flamingo-centaur-angel-sniper is still alive?!?!?!
-
I like to think that the Lilles eventually split into owls so small that they don't have sentience or power anymore and the people of Soul Society just keep them as pets
-
Wow can't believe we're still getting applied logic articles after all this time :P. Strangely enough, I actually found this site through applied logic…
But yeah. Who could've imagined reading the Soul Society arc all those years ago that we'd end up with the convoluted mess of nonsense and """mystery""" we have today? -
Wow, I'd somehow completely zoned out to the fact that the main series never resolved the "Bach is Soul King–> Kill Bach and the universe dies!!!!!" conundrum.
And lets also cram the explanation for what Ginjos whole deal was into a novel about Hisagi, while we're at it.
It really is flabbergasting just how absurdly inept Bleach was at storytelling.
-
I remember nothing.
It reminded me of reading a monthly manga. Only once a month would something actually happen or be accomplished. By then I'd forgotten what'd previously transcribed.
-

What's so bad is that they could have at least used some one off line in the penultimate chapter, but now we need panels making funny of Hisagi uselessness.
-
I can't read the article, i'm eager about Tite's new works… but Bleach is part of the past, the geniality of his author can't be expressed on novels D: i need manga now.
-
Glad to know that in the end, Soul Society is still a shitty place ruled by shitbags of differing variety. That also makes Rukia a liar (still) for once trying to tell innocent soul that it's a wonderful place.
-
I like how Shunsui had the kidness and foresight to hand out Soul Tickets well before the royal realm had been invaded, and the king was put at risk. Just on the off chance that Ichigos friends would want to visit their quadroplegic, comatose, reality-lynchpin friend. What a nice guy.
-
How many more of these novels until he does a new manga? I need some Kubo Kuboing in my life again
-
So, after re-reading the applied logic article and trying not to vomit from all the nonsense, there's one thing that's immensly bothering me for some reason: if Bach is indeed the progenitor of the Quincy, then what the heck is his father supposed to be? How does he tie into all this? Why was he the perfect candidate for becoming the lynchpin? Does he belong to another race, is he, like, a Quincy prototype? And why am I putting more effort in this mess of a manga than all of these authors together? By trying to answer some questions, they created even more.
-
How is he the son of the Soul King? Where are his 2 legs?
But that being said, all that new information makes them, especially the Priest guy to be total a-holes. To think he was planning on doing that to Ichigo….
-
Reality needs its paperweights, and there aren't enough man-bear-pigs to go around.
-
i genuinely would have preferred an ending where Ichigo becomes the soul king and his dick falls off and becomes sentient as to impragnate orihime so the timeskip epilogue can still have shitty kids
-
Nah I think the problem there is that his dick, by virtue of it being a simple being filled with testosterone, would have more personality than our protagonist. And they don't call it Bleach because all the main characters have really colourful lives and personalities :/
-
That also makes Rukia a liar (still) for once trying to tell innocent soul that it's a wonderful place.
well that, or insanely delusional. Then again, she was adopted by Byakuya, and became a shinigami. So maybe she meant it's situationally a wonderful place, provided that you are born into a significant family, or become a shinigami to escape the shit life of the rukongai.
There's also the fact that kubo likely wrote that line before even conceiving what ss would be like. Given his tendency to make stuff up on the fly, i wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
-
This kinda came out of nowhere, but a trailer of Bleach's live action movie was released:
Btw, a Bleach live action movie is being produced. Figured that could be a surprise to some.
Funniest thing? Some people are mad Ichigo is being played by a japanese actor…
... I know.
-
I believe it was announced ages ago when the manga ended.
-
Of course their mad, I'm pretty sure Ichigo was a ginger Mexican or something :ninja:
Only slightly more seriously, I checked out of this series after Aizen got locked up and kinda never realized that it ended :/. Anything worth checking out from the other…400+ chapters?
Did Ichigo and Grimmjaw hookup?
Did Ichigo and Nel hookup?
If yes to the above, was it adult or child Nel?
Did we ever find out what/who the children at Urahara's shop were? -

Sorry for the off-topic:
! What anime is your sig from?

They were artificial souls created by Urahara if I am not mistaken.
-
…what's an "artificial" soul?
-
-
Oh wow, holy shit. I completely forgot he was a thing. I guess that makes more sense (speaking from considerations of internal consistency) but artificial soul is still a term that sticks in my craw…
I figure since you haven't mentioned anything else there's not much from the rest of the series I missed out on from stopping at Aizen?
-
Bleach wasn't just bad down the stretch, it was often insultingly so.
-

The only other 2 things you asked is if Ichigo hooked up with one of the two characters you mentioned.
! He hooked up with Orihime instead.
-

Wait, even more insultingly so? To the point that the insult was noteworthy? Jesus. That's…a lot of insult

Ahh, I seem to have communicated poorly there. I was hoping for both answers to those specific questions and making a more general request for any noteworthy moments that came to people's minds from later Bleach :)
But yeah, I'd heard he'd hooked up with Orihime. I'm sure they had some sort of indication of romantic feelings for her on his end at some point though, and totally didn't just have the protagonist end up with the girl who was always one-sidedly in love with him for the Final Fantasy a-la Naruto :getlost:
Shame they never really did anything with Nel's apparent infatuation with Ichigo (if I'm remembering that correctly), coulda been pretty funny. Same with Grimmjow's "just fuck already" obsessive antagonism with Ichigo. -
Wait, even more insultingly so? To the point that the insult was noteworthy? Jesus. That's…a lot of insult
By the end, I started getting nostalgic for Hueco Mundo's quaint brand of stupidity.

Sure, sure. It's not like he'd pair those two and Rukia-Renji only to have the last chapter's only meaningful interactions be between Ichigo and Rukia to the extent that it feels like they're having an affair or anything like that.
-

…Nostalgic for Hueco Mundo?
So are we talking so insulting it's hilarious or so insulting it's insulting? Cause it could go both ways with the Kubo I remember. It was pretty insulting to my intelligence as a reader of his philosophical drivel to see that he had a table made with his own quotes on them, but that was also hilarious. Is it anything like that?Sure, sure. …God damn it Kubo. Maybe we can get a spin-off series where Orihime dies and Ichigo tells his kids a deeply pretentious sequel story about how he met her as a long-winded way to explain to them why he's suddenly banging Aunty Rukia...
I mean seriously. Why not have him date Rukia? Tatsuki had more damn chemistry with Princess-chan than Ichigo, just have those two end up together instead. And they borrow some artificial soul for some artificial insemination to make lesbian babies or something weird Bleach science-y. -
I never associated Naruto with Final Fantasy, unless if we are talking about FFXV.
-
Hahaha nah, that's just a Gintama reference :P

Some of it probably could have been entertaining in the right hands but too much of it was played too straight.

I think he said that it would feel unfair to Orihime had he went any other way with it. Which was odd since there was always the background thing of Ishida being in love with Orihime that never got any resolution what-so-ever.
-

I bet they didn't even try to find a half-shinigami half-quincy actor.

Oh wow. Definitely worth avoiding then. Simplistic philosophical considerations in almost blatantly nonsensical fictional worlds that are played completely straight…sounds like one of my worst fiction-reading nightmares :getlost:

Huh, that's funny. I'd say the actual outcome is unfair to both. Ichigo cause he didn't seem to have any connection with her, and Orihime because she got stuck dating Ichigo when she could've dated Tatsuki :/
Oh right! Who did Ishida and Chad end up dating? There weren't enough women leftover for Kubo to pull them into some Final Fantasy arranged marriage was there? Did they end up dating each other or something?
I bet they didn't even try to find a half-shinigami half-quincy actor.
Wasn't he also half-hollow? And half-human? That's a pretty complicated racial niche to find an actor to fill…

You forgot about the Fullbringer part.
-
Fullbringer?
As in…a bringer of Full?
I mean. I think that sounds familiar...?

That's an entirerly another group of people apart from Shinigamis, Quincies and Hollows that appeared after Aizen being locked and yes, Ichigo happens to be one. It was the last arc of the anime.
-
Wait, what? That's…so random. You had three original master races introduced in the first 50 chapters or so and then...there's a new one? After 400 chapters?
NaruJesus have mercy. I'm beginning to think I less dodged a bullet by stopping after the Aizenanigans and more I got called home the day before the boys went over the top at the Somme...
-
Fullbringers are "special humans", ESPers in any other series.

Well Chad ended up marrying the love of his life, the floor. He then became a boxer and fighting regular people her could instead knock other people onto the floor. Ishida became a Doctor, and I assume he secretly is seeing Mayuri (the mad scientist guy) on his off time. Many wonder why he would date a guy that tortured his own people, but not like Kubo has been one for any consistency.
The one true pairing was Aizen and the chair he sat on while in prison, and now they live happily together in solidarity.
-
Original chair was killed by.. YWahsc? Aizen himself when he stood up?
