! Inb4 lars is pink diamond -
! I wonder if humans not being detected by robots could play a role in a potential invasion with Beach City's inhabitants. Or at least Connie and Greg.
! I'm also intrigued by what exactly Blue Zircon's powers are. It seems to only affect Gems, although I saw that only the Blue Zircon was affected while Yellow Zircon wasn't bothered, unless it was too fast for me to see.
! EDIT: Nope, everybody cried. Even Yellow Diamond was affected.@Long:

! First amazing character arc for Lars. Second Rose Quartz was framed, its either Yellow by her reaction to the accusation or the elusive White. Third now they need to rescue Lars and the off colors we will be in homeworld again. Man if all season 5 will be like this it would be bonkers.

! The only other swordsman I remember in this series is Pearl… Or maybe White Diamond has a sword lol.
! Does the idea that rose quartz didnt do anything to PD ( no the idea she was helped ) bother you a bit plot progression wise, Imean its fantastic for plot purposes but does it mean steven was freaking out for nothing/make rose a less interesting character?
! I mean that sword thing gave me really red flags but then I remembered garnet mentioned how she did ot basically, although not word for word, and pearl was really bothered.
! The mention of her pearl by the zircon, the fact that pearl was a swordswoman, we still dont know who she belonged to, and the fact she doesnt like shapeshifting means she could have possibly done it.
! And since blue diamond seems to be in the dark about it, whoever actually knows if anyone would have valid reason to hide it, a rogue warrior getting the drop on PD and killing her, unprecedented and "difficult to believe" but a pearl, that would shake their entire appearance and order to the core -
! Well, that was fun as hell. And it's quite the change finally watching new episodes SU on TV again.
! Anyway, I feel like maybe Steven went back home a little too easily, but it'll be cool to see where things go from here. And is Lars immortal now? Seems his relationship with Saide just became a lot more complicated. -
! It has to have been pearl right? Either as support or as the culprit herself. But as support it doesn't offer any new drama, just like we would get from changing from the sword to the breaking point. The reason used to be the important part, the why, but now we have the "who" back, and the "why" of the coverup. I mean Pearl doing it would be even better for the resistance's morale, a non combat gem beat a diamond for her freedom.
! The other candidates (the diamonds), Yellow strikes me as someone who didn't care about earth at all until it became personal, and seems too supportive of Blue to have been it, just as Blue is too grief stricken, even if for some reason did it, why keep a six thousand years mouring, if her peers keep acting as it is unneded and unnecesary?
! But White puts another issue, why would the Crystal Gems follow the facade if she did it? I mean she could convingcinly turn the witnesses to her favor, but Garnet and pearl?
! This is quite a mystery, it made sense that Rose did it, other candidates just bring out weird angles and what-ifs, like pearl did it but it's so traumatized about it that Rose blocked the memory and took the blame? Yellow Diamond did it to have Blue all for herself? Did Blue did it for a melancholic reason? Did white did it because she really really wanted the atention of the diamonds on earth while she did whatever else? Did the sneeple did it to take out enemy leadership and gain a foothold in the snakes vs gems wars?
! I just read in reddit that maybe Rose had managed to wage peace with Pink Diamond, one of her sisters couldn't have that, shattered her, and blaimed it at Rose, and Rose followed along because it fitted the revolution narrative better than "we almost had peace but the diamonds shattered her", and no one would belive her. -
Oh my god, I just realized something about who shattered Pink Diamond.
! What if it wasn't a murder, but a suicide?
! It would explain everything. There was no court, because she herself ordered them away. The reason Rose was framed was because she found the body first. Imagine being Eyeball and our Pearl, hearing a shattering noise and entering Pink Diamond's palanquin only to find Rose standing on top of PD's shattered gem with her sword drawn.
! It could even be that she wanted to talk with Rose (who drew her sword just to be on the safe side, she's confronting a diamond after all), and committed suicide right in front of her. The event traumatized Rose to such a degree she blamed herself for it, and thus never denied she was the murderer. -

-
but if that was the case and if it is true, the question we should be asking is: why?
! There's a lot of theories that she's a young diamond, so we could see her as a child who never received guidance on what to do. She's fresh out of the earth and suddenly she's expected to be a leader, involved in politics of who deserves to live (the earth life forms or the thousands of unborn gems), and with the choice of either being loyal (keeping her beloved court and sisters) or rebelling (which would create a revolution and possible be the end of gem kind). Doesn't help there's a whole army of rebels who want her dead. Maybe she didn't even want to be a leader but even the Crystal gems wouldn't accept someone like her. And all those big decisions and feelings of not fitting in became to much. Could even be guilt over what the Diamond's had done.
! And I've always been a fan of the idea that Rose was open and understanding towards everyone except the diamonds who she saw as genuinely evil beings. Then her interaction with Pink Diamond taught her that no, even they are "human".
! That's just some theories, but I think it's still plausible.
! Though I'm interested in Pearl's involvement in the whole thing. -
I missed the hour long special so I'm going to have to wait for it to get online

Oh thank you.
! wow a lot of interesting things happened in these episodes. Implications that Pink Diamond may of being shattered by a fellow diamond and was pro earth like Rose Quartz (though that was kind of implied during the Human Zoo) and that Lars is now a fabulously pink Zombie(?) now. There is certainly a lot of interesting elements coming to light now.
-
I just can't believe this show will end as a "whodunnit" haha
-
WHAT?!?!?!
! Lars is like Lion?!?! Portal in his head?!?! Padparadscha is the cutest thing ever?!?!?! THEY'RE LEAVING LARS!!!! RENALDO IS NOW THE ONLY TERRIBLE CHARACTER IN THE SERIES?!?!?!
BIGGEST OF WHICH IS: WEN MOAR?!?!?!?!?!?
-
That was a hell of a set.
I could see the series wrapping the main plots in 20 if there's not too many more slice of life episodes.
-
Wow that was the best set of episodes in a long time.
! So Lion was just a normal lion that died and Rose brought back to life? :'(
! I'm so saddened for Lars, he actually DIED! -
! What I'm sad is that he's damned to live forever as a teenager.

! Just the juicy bits.

! Yellow does seem a tad more suspicious now, even though she didn't stop it until after the reveal. I dunno what to think yet. Other than Rose we have no motive. -

! There's the fact that one thing is missing, the motive for the coverup. Why would Rose Quartz hide this thing if it would be more fuel to the "you don't have to be your base function" fire. It would send a clear message to the diamonds that even their most trusted servants are capable of killing them, and of wanting freedom. Rose stealing the spotligth from pearl just doesn't make sense, and if pearl asked I'm sure Rose would have said something like "Pearl, this is important", while being framed and just rolling with it flows better.
! Pearl shapeshifting into rose, why not kill her as herself? -

! Pearl shapeshifting into rose, why not kill her as herself?! Pearl being the true culprit or not, it might depend on how responsible Rose feels about Pink Diamond's death. Especially if Pink Diamond ends up being the most morally complex and sympathetic Diamond, which could be hinted at due to her own fascination with the Earth due to creating the Zoo.
! Actually, I think there's a decent chance that Steven's current character arc about having to bare the responsibility for someone else's actions is going to find a parallel in whatever Rose's reasons are for taking the blame of Pink Diamond's murder, which will prompt Steven to break the cycle of deceptive martyrdom due to his character embodying charismatic honesty that contrasts with all of Rose's mysteries and lies. -
! This is a little farfetched, but I can't help but wonder if Pearl is really White Diamond in hiding. There's A LOT of amibiguity to who Pearl belonged to and I find it odd they haven't even bothered to name drop White Diamond this late in the series. I know there's a lot of logical reasons why this couldn't be true but I think back to Rebecca's staement that the Gem Steven knows the least about to Pearl and I'm willing to bet there is a lot of weight to that statement.

! Someone as a comment on the reddit thread disputed it by saying the time frame might not match up
! Things that were mentioned
Bismuth didnt mention anything about roses hypocrisy to shattering, since it is known by everyone on HW I doubt bismuth was just unaware to it meaning that either rose took the blame / or it hadnt happened yet ( though blue's presence seems to indicate it either did or was escalating, probably the former)
! Pearl was already known as " terrifying rengade pearl" and its likely she wouldnt be able to rejoin and shatter pink diamond afterward. Of course pearl doesnt have to be pink diamond's but if she was the timeline of The Answer kind of complicates thingsfuck I gave my self a headache lol

! I agree about Bismuth.
! I already know that the timeline does not fit. But I still find Pearl to be a possibility due to the court scene's emphasis on Pearls being close to their Diamonds as if it was subtly foreshadowing something, Pearl being a swordsman, and her backstory being kept hidden for so long.
! Here's the thing. It's easy to think that there's only one culprit when it comes to Pink Diamond's death. Yellow Diamond, White Diamond, Pearl, or some type of suicide. But honestly, I think it's going to be a mixture of some or all of these factors. Whether it's through an alliance or consecutively influenced coincidences in the fashion of dramatic irony. Like Yellow or White Diamond making Pink Diamond alone for their own agendas while Pearl uses the opportunity to shape shift and/or use projections to fool whoever is present like Eyeball to murder Pink Diamond while Rose maybe learns that Pink Diamond is a sympathetic character and decides to embrace her death as being her responsibility. -
@Long:
! the fact that pearl was a swordswoman, we still dont know who she belonged to,
check out that space suit, you'd think she'd change it to a star …edit: this is probably late bc im catching up
-
! Honestly, I'm not convinced Yellow did it. Rewatching "What's the use of feeling blue", Yellow seems sincere about remembering and honouring Pink's memory but is just opposed to getting swallowed in emotion by her loss like Blue.
! Onnnnn the other hand, the "wouldn't you rather forget her / wouldn't it be grand to get rid of it all" with her smile could also imply getting rid of the.. evidence? Aka the Crystal Gems? -
That was a hell of a set.
I could see the series wrapping the main plots in 20 if there's not too many more slice of life episodes.
too many unfinished character arcs
! i think it was obviously White Diamond who did this, or at least she wanted Pink shattered. Maybe she contacted Rose to do it but Rose only made it look like she shattered Pink. I definitely think Pink Diamond is alive and in hiding somewhere, or bubbled. If she was shattered, there'd be shards at least, and either the Crystal Gems or Diamonds would be in possession of them, and it seems like the Diamonds do not.

Rainbow Diamond?

Ok here's a list of loose ends that make me think the show won't be ending this year, at least not in 20 eps without leaving viewers unsatisfied
-centipeedle and her crew get healed
-jasper gets healed and grows to like or respect Steven
-lapis recovers more from the malachite/mirror depression
-peridot has a fusion or chooses not to fuse. Either Steven or Lapis, prefer lapis
-would like to see something come from Peridot calling YD a clod
-Steven fuses with either garnet or Pearl, or all 3 crystal gems
-the return of Mystery girl and this is a confirmed ep in the pipe I think
-a full 1-2 ep flashback of what really happened in the war
-if white diamond is really a threat, there's no way she doesn't get a whole arc
-return of bismuth
-diamond fusion would be cool
-if PD is alive, that could be a whole arc. Could be part of jasper redemption arc
-mr. smiley twins reveal -
-jasper gets healed and grows to like or respect Steven
I'm really curious about what will happen when Jasper learns of the Pink Diamond mystery, especially that the other diamonds are suspects. Even if it wasn't another diamond that killed her, geez, imagine how she'd feel about having been forced to work for one of her leader's murder suspects? And even if the diamond thing doesn't come up, there's gotta be a lot to process here, especially since Rose claimed responsibility, whatever that turns out to mean.
Also, another hanging plot thread is Peridot getting her star, which was also confirmed as something that would happen.
-
too many unfinished character arcs
I said I could see them wrap up the main plot stuff in 20. No way they can do everything though.
Hopeully we get another season yet. But if we don't, I'd like some closure. Be really dissapointing if the show ends on cliffhager or without anything resolved.
It'd just be nice if CN would officially announce a new season already and let the worries go away.

I could see SU ending ONLY if it led to a sequel series where they were traversing the universe in a giant space ship (harkens back to RS' Pug Davis comics)
Idk if I'm really feeling that theory though since so much love has been put into developing Beach city and showing how great earth is. Maybe -spoilers- being a portal now could make this happen given that Steven could travel back and forth in a pinch
-
Well, again, it's not about the show ending where it should end, its about Cartoon Network being dumb and doing the best they can if it comes to that..
And given animated series renewals are usually announced a year in advance if not two… just annoying they haven't said one way or another yet.
-
I just don't understand it Robby!! Let me have this one hope that SU will go on much longer than it should instead of being canned early
-
! there'd be shards at least, and either the Crystal Gems or Diamonds would be in possession of them, and it seems like the Diamonds do not.
! Maybe she's the core of the Cluster; Pink Diamond might have been fine with the idea of converting the Earth to a colony but might not have been willing to sacrifice the entire planet just for a bioweapon. Especially seeing as how it was apparently her only planet; Pink Diamond only had one world with her in that mural.
-
Here's the thing;
Cartoon Network is focusing reforming their shows to be flash/puppet animation that is more comedy focus. They are really focusing on de-throwning Teen Titans Go because of it is jointly owned by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros Studios, and they want a show that is completely owned by Cartoon Network Studios. The Powerpuff Girls (2016) and Ben 10 (2016) where both attempts to bring back previous shows in a new cost-effective way; but the former has no one of talent working on it because no one wanted to betray McCracken and Ben 10 has the original creators… but its weird. But they really want a new Teen Titans go so that's why shows like Mighty Magiswords were picked up and Ok Ko looks worst than the original shorts.
With that being said, this could easily be the last season or another 2 could be announced. This may be a Netflix thing and not a universal thing but when I was working on Kulipari I found that shows are typically ordered in 2's or 3's. This is why Netflix shows has 2 seasons even if they bombed. If all networks do that this could be why Steven Universe had 3 seasons announced from the get go. Well now its 5 seasons because of the re-shuffling of episodes. But that's what concerns me. The announcing of "new seasons" without order new episodes is usually a bad sign. And with Steven Universe never on the schedule unless its for an event, it might be the end.
-
I always thought episode 8/9 of the fourth season looked rushed –-----like poorly animated. Did they make an anti-racist and liberal episode because Trump had been elected a few days before? I think they did.

The animation sucked though. And Peridot and Lapis's chara-deisngs were odd.
And yeah the introduction of the racist uncle outta nowhere the week after Trump's election was a coincidence…
It's also the first time the show talks racism I think."They're illegal aliens?!!"
"You couldn't even marry an american?!!!!"
The connection with Trump's campaign is too obvious.I strongly believe it was on purpose, but I was just wondering if the production had said anything about it.
