That same article also has Teen Titans Go titled "Go Titans Go" so a lot of that stuff is questionable.
We finally get an offical soundtrack!
Some interesting stuff going on in that video seems like 2 new characters are appearing
Looks like shit is about to get real
Looks like shit is about to get real
judging from that promo, that would be an understatement.
This is hype!
Season 4 desperately needed something like this to go out on.
Whoops, posted that in the wrong thread.
Since I'm here though, this upcoming material would have been the midpoint of Season 3.
new gems already leaked, beware with The Internet, fellas.
I've only seen their names, I don't think their visuals have been leaked.
It's only the names. It was a leak from Grumpyface Studios, who are the video game developers making Steven Universe: Save the Light.
The one thing I appreciate about this leak is knowing that Save the Light will take characters, locales, and lore from all four seasons.
So…uh...the bomb has been released on the CN app.
I...I need to rest from that ordeal
Spoilers for the entire bomb
! So Connie drew Cirno, no surprise the crew knew Aqua looked heavily like her.
! The dynamic between sassy tiny gem and silent hulky muscle has been done before, but Aqua was pretty fun once we get into the meat of her lines. She is proud and talks a big game, and so far she backs it up.
! So the theories that they were using Peridot's report was true and is an awesome callback. The whole bomb was great and dat cliffhanger makes me want more!
! Only a minor nitpick because I know its going to probably be addressed because of certain events, but I was miffed with Lars' progression in "The Good Lars" was renigged when he ran from Topaz…but he is still on the ship, so...
! All in all, loved the bomb, my favorite being "the Good Lars" followed very closely by "I am my Mom".
Welp…
! Goddamn, I wasn't expecting that ending. Aquamarine is powerful. Topaz, too, but jesus freezing Alexandrite in place is huge. It just makes the gap between the gems and the diamonds feel all the bigger. They'll need all the help they can get by the final confrontation That means Lapis, Peridot, and, hopefully, even Bismuth.
! That was a good series of episodes, though. I really liked the twist on the usual townie eps, being mixed with the kidnapping plot. It made the end to The Good Lars a bit more complex than it would have been otherwise. Speaking of, I guess we're getting Lars in Space? Real curious about how that will turn out, especially since a lot of fans already don't like him. I do, though, in a character way, and he's definitely the one who would be most freaked out by this space nonsense. Considering Steven's predicament, too, there's some place for him to really grow.
! I wonder how long they'll be in space. No ship for the gems to use to get to him, but the gems are so integral to the show that I can't think of them being missing for long. The only allies Steven has off-world are the Famethyst and technically Lars. Goddamn, this makes the inevitably drawn out wait for season 5 hurt all the more.
! Also, best gag goes to "OH NO, THE LAWS OF PHYSICS!" Doug Out was probably the weakest of the bunch, but it was still a lot of fun. I really enjoyed "The Good Lars," especially since the last Lars ep we got was the Lars/Steven interaction at its worst. Again, I'm really hoping that he'll develop a bit, since I want to see his interactions with the cool kids afterwards. A lot of people may not like the townie stuff, but I've always enjoyed it, feel a good deal of investment in the citizens of Beach City because of it, and I want nothing more than to see them all happy and laughing over a delicious Ube Roll at the end of the day.

! I feel like Lars's development was pushed off for the space arc that's going to unfold. Even so, and even with The Good Lars, I don't think it would have made sense for Lars to have done anything but run. The end of his episode implied that he still threw away his roll, and was still too afraid, then he got captured in the middle of that crisis. They likely left that open to segue into whatever Lars's arc will be in space.

! Oh I realize that. Lars is still on that ship for some character development for sure. It's kinda funny, when the series started, Steven was the clueless one we could identify with in situations like this. Now we can step into Lars' shoes since Steven is sort of the one with more information available.
! In any case, I just loved "The Good Lars" because we finally got a situation where Lars wasn't an unbearable twat and actually seemed like a likeable character. Even with the cake in the trash, I just thought that Lars was taken right in front of the house and dropped it there by mistake. Lars in space should be interesting.

! Lars is still on the ship so he is still probably going to be pretty crucial for these next episodes so he still has a chance for development. I want to believe he doesn't feel too good about not doing anything.
! What's the chance for a Lars/Steven fusion?
! What's the chance for a Lars/Steven fusion?
! I've seen this theory thrown around a bit on the reddit, and I really like it. The angle reminds me of the Steven/Amethyst arc leading to Smokey Quartz, with several episodes heavily focusing on their relationship leading to the fusion. The big difference is that it's hard to think that Lars adds much to Steven besides cooking powers and insecurity, so if it happens, I'm banking on accident. If it does happen for a purpose, my guess would be obscuring either of their identities? I guess the main reason I like it is because I just want to see that fusion, haha.
! Aquamarine is giving me Nui vibes. I like her.
! >!
So… when is the second half of season 3/season 5? Cause that was a bit of a cliffhanger.
WIkipedia says May 31. Not too bad... if that holds.
not really spoilers but...
! But it does feel like the show is situating itself in a way it can be going into its final act now. Like, I don't think we're about to get 26 episodes of just Steven and Lars confronting yellow diamond or anything… but the decisions he made and the maturity he's showing.... it certainly feels like his character arc is pretty complete and we're ready to head into the endgame fairly soon. Whatever short little arc we get from this should be able to set up the final conflict, be that on earth or the homeworld.
! I mean, obviously I'd love it if CN suddenly announced "season 6!" but since there's no reason to count on that, like I've said many times before, I hope they shoot for closure and some sort of solid ending in the chunk of episodes we know they have left, the third season they knew they had forever ago.
! (As opposed to the Adventure Time formula where it goes on and on forever and wears out and never resolves anything, it feels like we can get to a good solid ending here.)
Just watched the bomb
! Aquamarine has Syndrome powers!
! But yeah, this was a really fun and intense bomb and I'm glad we finally got some new gems. And the way things are going, yes, it does seem like we could be entering the last 26 episodes, but it still feels like there's so much more they could expand on and explore with the homeworld gems, the diamonds, and the various types of gems out there (we still haven't seen an Emerald). But I suppose they could satisfactorily explain everything if they went full-on plot mode for the last (half) season.
! I wonder if the freezing ability is something Aquamarine naturally possesses or it's another case of "Homeworld has powerful toys."
I doubt that little wand is there for style purposes, but whether it works independent of her water powers or amplifies them we have yet to learn.
Wonder what the release schedule is going to be because this is some heavy stuff that we're going to be anxious for for a good while.
! There's still a lot left to resolve for just one more season. Redeeming Bismuth, reversing corruption, dealing with Jasper, return of the mystery girl, Peridot earning her star, the ultimate fate of the cluster, more fusions and the emotional arcs that come with them (Peridot definitely, maybe Lapis, Steven with the other gems, Steven with other humans), and some other stray threads I'm forgetting.
! I think that's a little much for just one more season. Plus, there's no real proof that 5 is it, and a decent bit of circumstantial evidence pointing towards the existence of season 6 (those production numbers shown off a while back, the fact that we're getting a new boom of SU merch right now, continuing to hear from VAs talking about recording sessions, etc…) so I don't think the end is quite in sight.

It's not a question of "there is still X ammount to do in order to resolve everything nicely"
and more a question of "How stupid is Cartoon Network when it comes to scheduling and cancelling shows, and will the staff give us something satisfactory just in case?"
Given that animation takes a year to do and the new season is starting in two weeks, (and presumably then run till this time next year) if they're going to order more episodes and have them premiere by summer 2018, then the next season needs to be picked up basically now. (VAs still doing work for the last episodes of this season now would be about right, this is when the final episodes would be boarded and being sent out for animating) Announced no later than Comicon I would think.
As is, season 3 (which they changed to 4/5) was picked up back in July 2015, and then the "split" was announced a year later to make it sound like more…. at the same time they did the exact same thing for Uncle Grandpa which is confirmed cancelled. Adventure time renewals have similarly been announced two years in advance, including its final 2018 season being announced last year.
(Also, the fact that they're letting Adventure Time, Regular Show, Clarence, Uncle Grandpa, and possibly Gumball end now might mean they're getting ready to phase out their entire lineup thats been steady the last several years.... so they can schedule more Teen Titans Go. Ugh.)
I don't have much time to comment on it now, but Stuck Together was released on the CN ap apparently and it's making its rounds around the net.
At this point I don't know anymore if CN just don't care, hate the show, or is trying the world record for earliest early release.
Alas, all that, very solid episode.
Well turns out that "Stuck Together" is the sneak for a hour long special on Memorial Day.
So that is the 29th?
So that is the 29th?
Yes. Memorial Day is on the 29th. And an hour special indicates that we will get a four episode marathon.
I'm afraid that Robby might be right and this is the last season…

As long as it's an ending and not a cancelation, then fine by me.
As long as it's an ending and not a cancelation, then fine by me.
I fully agree with that.
Not that I don't believe it. I've had my suspicions since CN split the seasons and worded the show as being "renewed". Even more suspicious how they are choosing to drag out its airdate with hiatuses, bombs and eventually playing around with early digital distribution.
I just want to know where you are hearing this from. I've been seeing alot of people on my feeds talking about it lately, and I'm honestly not surprised or saddened one bit since it felt pretty much inevitable. I just want a source
There is nothing official yet saying its the last. Just all the unofficial stuff and how its been handled so far… combined with all their other shows ending... (including Uncle Grandpa that got an identical treatment and we know as fact was cancelled) and the fact that if it was getting renewed it would typically be announced by now, if not a year ago. Hell them burning through a month of episodes in one go a while ago was a pretty troubling sign.
If they don't say anything at Comicon in July that's pretty much it.
But again, there's a difference between "cancelled" and "not renewed".
At this point, I half-expect Season "5" to deal with Yellow and/or Blue Diamond and then White Diamond shows up at the very end of the last episode with the series ending on a cliffhanger.
When they're heading towards the last season don't they usually announce "hey this is the last season!"?
I know that for Gravity Falls they didn't until the finale was upon us. That was a sort of special case, though, since the GF team wanted to end it, themselves, and so Disney's terms were to keep info on when the finale was hush hush, which I think had to do with not messing with the merch and marketing, which would have been affected by news of the finale.
A similar argument could be made of what CN is doing with SU but, unless we find out that the SU team are ending the series on their own terms, too, and refusing the renewal themselves, it'd be a lot sleazier for CN to be hiding that sort of info right now, since they're pushing marketing on the show more right now (with the upcoming game and a new series of figures coming out).
I won't pretend to know how all of that stuff works, so that's really just whatever scraps I've been seeing around the reddits and whatever, but I want to stay optimistic, or at least not be cynical. I don't think that the proof is compelling either way, and somehow being able to say 'I told you so' about the show ending doesn't seem fulfilling. All I know is that right now, CN seems to be pushing the show more aggressively than they have in the past while, so I think it's best to respond to that with whatever support we can give as fans.
When they're heading towards the last season don't they usually announce "hey this is the last season!"?
If it's cancelled, they do. If it's not renewed, then they usually don't make such a big deal about it until the last moment since there's always the possibility that minds will change.
The season renumbering and complete lack of news, good or bad, is troubling though; unless they plan on a lengthy gap between seasons or stretching out the current one even longer than usual, we should have heard something about more episodes being planned or worked on by now.
At this point, I half-expect Season "5" to deal with Yellow and/or Blue Diamond and then White Diamond shows up at the very end of the last episode with the series ending on a cliffhanger.

If its a show that's been running for a super long time so that it's an event that it's ending, or if the cancellation is truly in place with very little fanbase.
In cases like this, they may not have decided one way or the other yet and are waiting to see how ratings and other tie ins do… but it really should have been announced for more a solid year ago, and certainly by the time this new season started.
That means at the very least it probably hasn't been officially renewed yet. Which isn't the same as cancelled, but its incredibly rare that an animated show gets to the end of its run then goes on an extended break to come back, because the production time is so lengthy they have to let everyone involved know a year in advance they're ordering more, or they're going to lose staff.
Also, Cartoon Network being themselves, sometimes they'll just hold episodes in purgatory forever and not announce anything at all. Samurai Jack's original run for instance had its last four episodes held for a solid year, and then released all in one night. And then toyed with a movie for over a decade before finally releasing the new truncated fifth season.
Mysteries Inc had its second season held in limbo for forever... and it was always scheduled as a short term show... but they still broke it up and parcelled out the later episodes at random.
Or when they ordered 52 episodes of the new Thundercats, and the show clearly paced itself as a 52 episode series, and then ended at 26 right in the middle with no resolution at all.
And probably their biggest weird out was when they actually ordered multiple seasons of Generator Rex, announced in advance they had ordered that many, and then suddenly cut it super short by half, split its first season into 3 so they could still claim 3 seasons, and only held it long enough to get to its Ben 10 crossover, released the final episodes to Itunes first, and still to this day haven't aired a couple episodes.
So, CN has a history of these things.
@Cyan:
If it used Young Justice writing, the final reveal would be that taking down Yellow and Blue Diamond is exactly what White Diamond wanted them to do.

Sigh. It was fine in Gargoyles where Xanatos kept going "basically any outcome in this situation would have worked for me, I was just playing with some new toys."
to the recurring YJ line of "this seeming utter defeat was actually exactly according to plan as it distracted them from the real scheme!"
It's cool to have competant villains that win sometimes but YJ overdid it.

Rex actually did reach sixty half-hour episodes though so, barring plans for seasons with episode counts that rivaled Phineas and Ferb, the order wasn't cut; now, a lot of the planned merchandise never actually came out but from what I recall that had a lot to do with executive turnover and that longstanding tradition of the new guy wanting to kill most of his predecessor's projects regardless of merit or success.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
It's cool to have competant villains that win sometimes but YJ overdid it.
Between that and the bizarre need to throw out the cast every season to bring in new characters, I really don't know why so many people want that show back.
If any DC Nation show deserved a continuation, it was GL:TAS, not YJ.
I could have sworn Rex was announced to have enough seasons to go to like 100 episodes at some point, and then that was pulled back massively. Maybe I'm misremembering. Maybe was just assuming seasons meant more episodes at the time given how Ben 10 was going… though looking at it, Ben 10 actually only had 13-20 episode seasons... it just had a LOT of them in super short order managing 10 seasons, 3 shows and 200 episodes within about 6 years.
As for YJ? It looked good, treated the characters and world well, better than the comics, had an ongoing plot, and was the first show to really give the Dini years a run for it's money, and had a superbly talented team in charge of it. I wish I had worked on the comic. It's easy to see why people liked it.
But season 2 seriously mucked it up, I'm really not sure where the loyalty came from after that. Had season 2 actually been season 3 or 4 and arrived at that same point organically, it would have worked really well and been a solid season. But the "you missed all development on the characters you liked so we can have a mystery around that... and in the meantime here's a bunch of guys you don't care about" just doesn't work. And that's a lesson you think would have been learned after Gargoyles had such a negative reaction to the world tour.
"We had no idea fans would react so negatively to ditching half the cast and leaving behind the usual location for 1/3 of the series. We were really excited to show off lots of different folklore and thought having the dog along as one of the four cast members would go well!"
Clone Wars was intended from the start to have a minimum of 100 episodes and started around the same time as Generator Rex. The latter I just remember as having three guaranteed seasons even before the premiere.
RS mentioned she was working on stuff as of last November so there's probably a whole year of eps coming at least
RS mentioned she was working on stuff as of last November so there's probably a whole year of eps coming at least
Well yeah. Season "5". The question is on if there's going to be a 6, or if we're onto the last 24 episodes now… and if they can wrap it up nicely in that time just in case.
Well she said what they were working on was "ambitious" so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the finale but a year is a long time, and I wouldn't put it past CN to announce it later for whatever reason since they obviously don't care. Just seems like it's premature to speculate either way
OBJECTION!
OVERRULED!
