The Otohime paragraph was in response to Kaido's second paragraph lol. I was joking about her size compared to both Neptune and Shirahoshi.
What will be Marco's motivation to join the alliance to fight Kaido?
The obvious answer would be that he is friends with CatDog and that's it. But if that's enough to ask for his help, wouldn't it make much sense to ask Shanks too? Unless Shanks has his own reasons to not participate in such a battle. Maybe the same reason he didn't try to take out Blackbeard yet but instead lets him become more and more powerful? That's another topic though.
Also if CatDog are so close to Marco that they are willing to ask him to risk his life with them, especially considering that he probably is in a very depressed state right now, wouldn't they have joined him to fight Blackbeard?
Maybe I'm just overthinking it but I believe that Marco will have additional reasons to participate in this battle, perhaps something personal with Kaido? Any thoughts?
Yep. You are overthinking alright.
Well after watching GOLD I again overthought the last 3 movies and their main characters. Be aware that I do not think that the movie stories itself are canon and that I ask about the possibility of them appearing int he manga
I will start with GOLD:
It absolutely can't be canon cuz it is after Dressrosa and Sanji and Co are there. So here we do not even have to debate about the characters being canon either, even if Oda overlooked this one as well
Z:
This one is more tricky… Zephyr was never mentioned in the manga but question is will he? In movie material we learned that the new Shichibukai cuz his arm... The new Shichibukai's apointed have been Law (ruled out), Buggy and Weevil. So maybe it will be said in the manga once Weevil or Buffy appear for a longer time.
So do you think there is a chance for him to appear in the main canon or at least be mentioned? Or willt hey simply ignore the Shichibukai stuff and treat this info as non canon?
Strong World:
The most interesting... Shiki was mentioned in chapter 530 itself... We got his backstory in chapter 0 and that he was planning something and Oda did wrote the story of the movie himself... As I said above I do not think Strong World and his beating is canon... So what are the chances that he will appear in the manga? He should be still be around there. Or should we assume his plan failed, he died or whatever?
If pre skip Luffy would have beat him it would be huge news around eh world and someone would have mentioned it...

Additional reason is to protect Ace's legacy which is with Luffy now. Remnants of WB might even have a bit of falling out because of 1 crushing defeat after another, so they might see Luffy as the last beacon of hope for change as WB mentioned in Marineford, 'their flames will never die'.
Man everything points to Luffy huh? :)

I cant buy any of the movies being canon even if Oda says it. Shiki was able to take on Sengoku and Garp, then Luffy is able to take on Shiki? Ararara… my head hurts :(

Honestly, 0.0001%
Shiki is the only character that we know is 100% Canon. He's the only one that has been mentioned specifically in the manga chapters. That being said, I think there is a nearly zero percent chance of him showing up. Ironically, because of Chapter 0.
An awesome chapter that really built up the One Piece World even outside the context of it being a tie-in for Strong World. However, the fact that we got Chapter 0 in the week of a normal release is pretty much summing up where Shiki stands in the context of the manga. He's a part of this world, but he's not our focus. The level of involvement that Oda has in the anime and movies has varied throughout the years but he plays very nicely with Toei. He understands that the manga is his story, from beginning to end and that the anime is an adaptation. Personally, that's why I believe he wanted to do the movies. He was able to not only just make good One Piece content, but tell an interesting story that simply could not fit in given where One Piece was in the story.
Personally, I think Strong World would have made a great arc in the New World. It would make a bit more sense for the crew to go through that ordeal and win against Shiki with their current strength. But everything happens for a reason. I truly believe that it was a story Oda really wanted to tell, but interfered with what was going on in the story.
The best way to look at Strong World is as a "what-if" Shiki had put his plan into place where he did in the film. But given how involved Oda was in the movie, I see that being the end of Shiki's presence in the story.

Yeah but in Z's case I find the Shichibukai backstory interesting and would have thought that it may tie in later being mentioned like Shiki.
Or why even mention the new appointed Shichibukai and not instead using some other story to explain Z becoming twisted

It is quite interesting. However, I honestly think it just served to hype up the Warlord, explain Z's design, and show that he's a battle-hardened solider.

What hype? We know he was crying for forgivness and has done a cheapshot.
And now people willt hink about Weevil or Buggy

Not to hype the Warlord, but to hype Z.
I don't think Oda thought "Hm, and my idea for this character revolves around his relationship with X. X should cut Z's arm off". I think it was more in line of "He's a super awesome old man with a giant mechanical arm. But who could injure this strong guy's arm in the first place? I'll say it's a Warlord of the sea because he's a tough guy who goes against those kind of pirates"!

Yup but with that we now have this discussion about who was it. Weevil or Buggy.
He could have used former level 6 escapee or something
Or if said Warlord is canon, he/she could have left during the time skip. I mean, Blackbeard lasted about a month, in-story, after all.

Yeah could be a thing to avoid it but strange that said new appointed Shichibukai felt right into the timeskip as well where we know we will get new one
After Jinbe joins the crew, will he do the acclaimed "Tactics 15: Pirate Docking Big Emperor"?
!
Are we on a break after this week's chapter because of Golden Week?
I know where Newgate's body is… at the side of the crapiest of the series, yep. But his father's... Where's Roger's body? If the marines executed him, maybe it's with them... or with Vegapunk D: in order to make the most powerful Pacifista ever.
Any idea when are the new translated Digitally Colored manga volumes are coming? I know the raw versions are out.
This might be a weird question to ask but does Japan sell something like box sets for finished manga series? I've only ever seen the ones by Viz and I'm kinda hoping when One Piece is finished, I can buy like all the volumes at once or something.
Was it ever explained why the heart pirates are the only ones who got/use a submarine?
Was it ever explained why the heart pirates are the only ones who got/use a submarine?
The Straw Hat Pirates have a sub as well.

The Donquixote Pirates used a submarine as well.
And Wapol now that I remember.
This is more of a translation question, but what is the literal meaning of the kanji used to describe the Reverie? As I was curious and looked up the name and apparently, it's a French word to describe daydreaming.

The kanji means "World Conference/Council"

That makes a lot more sense to use as a translation. Wonder why no one uses it?

Cuz the furigana is Reverie.
Early in the Tottoland arc, when the Strawhats first meet Pudding, she tells them that she met with Sanji, and he turned her down because he wanted to stay with his friends. Has it been confirmed as a lie, or is there still some chance that it's at least partially true?

Sorry if I'm late and in case you've already found out. But there are box sets for One Piece you can find on Amazon. I think the first 20 volumes or something will clock in at 80-100 dollars if I don't misremember. I would probably suggest that you buy 1-3 volumes every month instead, because buying all the volumes in bulk is gonna tank your economy like crazy :P.
Rereading the series here.
Why does Paulie tell CP9 that the blueprints for Pluton are fake? I found all of this situation confusing and unnecessary.
Thanks!

I think it's because they would have figured it out immediately on the spot anyway, Lucci and Kaku were carpenters after all. The purpose of the fake blueprints was not to fool the government to think they were real AFTER they were found, but a countermeasure in case Iceburg wouldn't have managed to protect the blueprints he had.
And it was also to explaining to the readers what happened XD.
How could Ace's devil fruit end up in the hands of Doflamingo?
The moment he died at marineford, his powers transferred to the next fruit nearby. Since the marines have won the war, it should be extremely likely that they would found the fruit?! It's extremely implausible only Blackbeard knows about the process of a "reborn devil fruit" ….

There are plenty of corrupt marines and the choice of giving it to the hierachy or selling it on for millions would be a no-brainer. Marineford was also pretty wrecked in the battle so there's the chance that it reappeared or was thrown somewhere and only picked up by scavangers later.
Also, Doflamingo was on the winning side…
@Kaido:

Lol I totally forgot about that.
But nevertheless, I mean if you're going to execute someone who owns a powerful logia power, you would do anything to not lose this game-changing power. Like equipping all the admirals with some bananas or stuff….
Is there historical/mythical inspiration for why Carmel's epithet is called "Mountain Witch"? I know that there has to be something.

Question: Who is stronger solely based on their devil fruit Daz Bones or Miss Double Finger?
Question: Who is stronger solely based on their devil fruit Daz Bones or Miss Double Finger?
Just based on the devil fruit? Well even then its still a tricky question as it depends on how well one can use the DF.
I had to go read up and refresh my mind on the Toge Togi no Mi (makes spikes on the body) and the Supa Supa no Mi (changes parts of body into steel blades)
With Miss Double Finger usually its just spikes. But she can also dope herself, increasing her muscle mass. She can also perform stunts such as walking on a ceiling by making spikes on her feet.
However the Supa Supa no Mi makes the user immune to normal slashing damage. Daz Bones also showed ability to slash through things without actually touching them, akin to some of swordsmen's air-based slashes we've seen.
At first I was going to go with the Togi Togi no Mi, but reading those two aspects of the Supa Supa no Mi makes me choose it.
Question: Who is stronger solely based on their devil fruit Daz Bones or Miss Double Finger?
Bones seems to be able to cover himself in metal which means he can both attack and defends confortably. I don't think anything was said about the spike piercing steel and I think it gives less protection so I would think Daz fruit.
nice post Katzztar
What do you think one could do with the two devil fruits if they mastered them? Could Daz Bones turn into a sword and be used by someone-else?

Toghether with Baby 5.
Now The question would be, can you imbue another person with your haki (Ambition) Like with objects? Otherwise id just Pick normal swords.
The thought of turning into a sword and being used by someone else came to mind because Megatron from Transformers G1 and the Meister/Weapon dynamic in Soul Eater.
I think using Daz as a sword would be about as useful as picking up Mihawk and having him hold his sword while you wield the dude. Baby 5 works a lot better in the aspect you're thinking of.

Nope, While the supa supa no mi allows one to transform parts of their body into steel blades, it doesn't transform the entire body. Its the same limitation that Jozu seems to have as we never see Jozu or Daz Bones transform their entire body only parts of it.
And lets face it, if there was any time for Jozu go all body diamond it was in the war and against Akainu. Remember that diamonds are formed deep within the earth and its in volcanic eruptions that brings them closer to the surface. So if anything be able to resist Akainu's magma, I could see an entire body encased in diamond be it. So likely Jozu isn't able to change all his body.
Daz Bones' DF seems to be the weaker version of Baby 5's DF. His is limited to transforming parts of his body into steal weapons, while she can transform her entire body into any weapon.
Is there any place where I can find all the tankobon corrections to the original WSJ version?
