Screw Cell, if they were bringing a villain back from the dead for this tournament they should get Guldo.
Actually, since they are as desperate as to go for Roshi, I would love to actually have Popo in the team.
Dragonball Discussion Kai: Broly but this time it's not Broly

Being a team battle with 39 hours of prep is another reason to nor get cell nor dabura.
If it was the bunch of 1v1 that we expected they might try control him, but in the middle of the free for all? He starts drinking people or eating the androids? That's inviting disaster more than bringing master Roshi.
Like those stupid assholes are gonna actually train for 39 or even 30 hours straight. They'll dick around for a whole day and then train for 1 day or like 16 hours probably. Except Tien. Cuz he takes this stuff seriously

What would absorbing the Androids do when he was already perfect? Platinum Cell?
-
Ever since the lastest shift in production team, they've really changed up the palette and the way they shade in shadows. it's a little jarring actually, though it does make for better animation as a whole
-

He'd conquer the world and create a bad future arc known as Age Of Cell featuring Piccolo and Bulma as the main characters.
-
Just how strong Toppo is? Is he as strong as Black, Hit?

Ah, I finally found the new DB thread!
Toppo just became one of my favorite DB characters ever. Gave me throwbacks to the Ginyu Force and provided me with more material for 1, 2, Switch.:ninja:
-

You know what? They should ask good old Shenron to recreate Cell using Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Buu, and Frieza, with new androids already eaten, and just program him to be good. Bit of cheat, but if they were smart, that's what they'd do.
Shenron not capable of that? Just get him to make DR. Gero good and create a new cell all over.
-
I believe the threat of being erased along with the whole universe if they lost would be enough to keep any resurrected villain under control.
Maybe not Kid Boo…
-
Shenron not capable of that? Just get him to make DR. Gero good and create a new cell all over.
The one 17 killed? That's another wish to revive him :^) (or maybe Bulma's dad could make it)
-
Such a cute episode. Everything with Vegeta was really fun.
-
Vegeta getting all annoyed when Satan, Goku, and Yamcha got close….:D
Lol, Bulma had the name all ready to go.
-
She had to preempt vegeta from calling her Lettuce or Ginger or something like that.
-
Shin and Beerus don't deserve being rescued by the Z group. One is a sloth who eats and sleeps all the time, and the other one can't even monitor 28 planets. I'm curious about that though. Quite a small number of planets, with intelligent beings on them, for a whole universe.
Also, Wtf to that magic Whis birth!
-
I don't care for convoluted tournament arcs or big, epic villains. Just seeing Vegeta and Bulma awaiting their second child is the type of endearing things I go to DBS for at this point.

Friezas empire looks like shit now as well. Not even asking why it needs 5 Kais and back than even 5 Kaioshins to overlook this
-
The whole 28 planets thing shocked my. It has to be some idiot writer's embellishment, it just makes no sense otherwise. The sheer number of different aliens we've seen, the fact that Earth is treated as an unspectacular piece of crap by the Saiyans, the fact that Freeza's planet selling business model would require a large number of buyers and livable planets conquered, and the fact that there are apparently at least 79 planet Freezas all contradict this.
I mean maybe Toriyama wrote the line, but this would be on the level of that "Beerus killed all the dinosaurs" line from the movie where they fly by a dinosaur later in the movie, since dinosaurs have always been alive in Dragon Ball. He is pretty forgetful.
-

The thing is that 28 planets have mortal life NOW… Remember that civilizations destroy themselves quite easily. I am sure that there have been hundreds (thousands?) of civilizations around in Uni 7. Also, Frieza+Beerus+Saiyans destroyed quite a lot of stuff.
-
Freeza and the saiyans' whole business model was to wipe out life on a planet to sell it. It makes sense that there's not much left after years of doing that.
-

And we still have 5 Kais now
-
They should've said "28%" instead. Suggests a low number without lowering the scope of the universe to boot.
-
28 doesn't bother me considering this number is after Beerus's interference, and Majin Buu. Add to that however many Freeza may have destroyed in his time.
Doesn't explain why, if this is the case, Supreme Kai doesn't get on creating more planets/life or why we still only have two Supreme Kai.
-
Even saying twenty-eight species wouldn't work since I'm pretty sure we've seen more than that.
-
28? Guess whoever says Beerus isn't doing anything besides eating and sleeping just is plain wrong!
And speaking of species we high likely have more than 28 just on earth alone.
-

Beerus isnt that bad compared to the other Hakaishins.
Sidra: Very indecisive in destroying planets.
Champa: Eats a lot
Helles: Kills ningen that finds ugly.
Vermoud: He isnt too strict -
I'm sure civilizations are developing and destroying themselves all the time. There might be only 28 right now but that doesn't mean there were always 28 planets and will always be.
Remember we came pretty close to annihilating ourselves with Nukes during the Cold war. I'm sure tons of other planets in the DZ universe have done that

And I don't know how big a universe is in DB. But the saiyans and Freeza had to wreck entire galaxies to reach that small number of main planets.

Finally got around to watching the episode.
Poor Yamcha. Not even on their list.

Sorbet mentioned Frieza had 70% of the Universe under his control, he conquered like 400 planets(cue why those planets have Frieza name on them).
Add also:
Majin Buu Rampage
After Frieza died there was an internal War between Frieza men which led to losing 60% of the Freeza army.
Beerus destroying planets that had ugly food
Jaco destroying planets because he is retarded
Vados destroying planets for 12 years while she and Champa were looking for the Super Dragon Balls.
-
In canon isnt Bra suppose to be years older than Pan? So why is she born now a few months at least after Pan. Doesnt add up.
-
Bra has always been younger than Pan

Damn Yamcha is the joke yet again, I'm curse to like the dude since I was a kid and watch him suffer always, well this time it was his fault, but it's weird that they would remember Roshi before Tien(who we know will be there) and Yamcha since they are stronger than the old man.
-

Well, unlike Yamcha Roshi fought against Freeza's army.
Speaking of which, what about Jaco?

I found that stupid, the old man was able to fight Freeza Army when he should have been fodder for them, Yamcha is stronger than him.
Jaco is kind of a coward, at least from what I've seen in the anime, I haven't read Jaco's manga, most of them will probably get eliminated pretty fast, Roshi is there to be fodder, they might let him take one out at most.

Curious if it's been asked and answered yet, but why are 17 and 18 still referred to by their numbers rather then their names that Toriyama gave them?
-
This episode was surprisingly enjoyable. I dropped Super somewhere in Goku x Beerus but decided to go back to it thanks to this arc. Watched Freeza arc this week too, but it was as awful as Beerus' - I only finished it because I like Freeza enough to endure all that -, but this arc is being pretty fun. Maybe I am finally warming up to DBS.
Still can't get over the lack of blood. It's hard to believe the fights are hard when all you see is people with dusty clothes.
-

How exactly do we know Yamcha is stronger than Roshi hell he isn't stronger than Krillin.
-

IIRC there's no in-universe reason. Maybe their human memories were wiped when Gero turned them into cyborgs?
How exactly do we know Yamcha is stronger than Roshi hell he isn't stronger than Krillin.
why do you assume he's weaker than Roshi, then? Krillin around Raditz had a higher power level than Roshi, then the two of them (him and Yamcha) trained at Kami's. Shouldn't that alone put Yamcha > Roshi?
-
^ Considering the whose who of people who have beaten Yamcha which would include Roshi himself who also fought Tien and didn't get his shit pushed in or his leg broken
The optics don't look very favorable to Yamcha
-

Wait 17 and 18 have real names?
Goes to Dragon Ball Wiki Lapis and Lazuli are pretty freaking cool names for them. You mean Krillin's not curious about his wife's real name?!
-
do they even still know their real names?
i was under the impression that Gero tampered with their memories -
How exactly do we know Yamcha is stronger than Roshi hell he isn't stronger than Krillin.
Yamcha did receive training from King Kai after all; when has Roshi ever trained under heavy gravity?
That said, ignoring their training seems to nerf people from their DBZ levels to actually being weaker than they were in Dragon Ball.
-
Just finally watched the latest episodes.
So Goku actually takes visible damage through ordinary bullets now? Guess he did REEEEALLY ignore his training then, eh?
I didn't, however, watch the Friezs episodes. So how did Roshi perform there? I heard he really wasn't bad.
And what about the Gods of Destruction? Is the stuff like the female one destroys ugly stuff revealed in some kind of additional material?
-

All that training on King Kai's planet should've turned Yamcha into an MVP in baseball making him one of the richest athletes in the world and making him a success with the ladies (just like he was when he moved in with Bulma)
But he apparently can't e(catch a br3ak even there.
-
How exactly do we know Yamcha is stronger than Roshi hell he isn't stronger than Krillin.
Basically what other people said, he received training from King Kai, Yamcha was stronger than Krillin before Krillin got his potential unlocked by the elder, he was stronger than Krillin when they fought Vegeta and Nappa( at least according to official power levels).
He just became a gag(or always was) being the guy that always ends up with the short end of the stick and beat up, then he became a baseball player and forgot about his training, even if he is rusty right now I doubt he is weaker than Roshi.
P.S: Wow seeing your other posts seems like you just hate the character, I don't care that much I'm more bothered(or find it stupid like I said above) that they took the old man with them, not that Yamcha wasn't in Freeza's arc or will be in the tournament.
-
I would say the very existence of Freeza's empire and the commerce of planet make it impossible for there to be only 28 planets with mortal lifes on them.
I wonder how many of the one's at the tournament will be important.
Vegeta is a good father.
-
I know, long text ahead.
After a heavy binge watch session for a month (including breaks for work and social life) I watched Super. i tried it, what was it?, last year, but gave up after 5 episodes because of more than horrible pacing and general inferiority to the movie. But a few weeks before, I decided to just start after the return of frieza arc with the respective filler and the future Trunks 2 arc. And I have to say, I really really enjoyed it, even though the power levels are far beyond ridiculous now. But I like that every once in a while the support cast is allowed to shine. It reminds me of the good old Dragon Ball times, when character interactions and the sense of adventure were far more important than the fights itself. Also starting with the future trunks arc, the pacing just got so much better than the battle of gods arc.
Here are random thoughts and issues for the entirety of the series:
- How can Toriyama or whoever the writer is right now remember that Yamcha plays baseball, but still not acknowledge the existence of Lunch? I guess at this point we should just assume that she is dead.
- Also, why does no one recognize Pilaf, Shu and Mai? (Also she is years older than Bulma)
- How on earth do Goten and Trunks not age? I mean, it has to be more than two years now since the end of DBZ. Multiple babies have been born.
- Why is gohan wearing glasses? As a scientist I feel annoyed that glasses mean 'smart'. He obviously doesn't need glasses.
- Chichi, change your clothes! Bulma changes her clothes and hairstyle every 10 episodes!
- Was it retconned that there should actually be 5 Kaioshins? One Surpreme Kaioshin and 4 for each part of the universe? I mean, our Kaioshin is actually the east Kaioshin. He was upgrade to Surpreme Surpreme Kaioshin after everyone died. Also, why is King Kai still around? Death obviously matters to gods, seeing how Kaioshin is alone right now, and seeing how Gowasu was killed and he stayed dead. And let's not forget that Kami also died. So why is King Kai still around (except for comic relieve reasons)?
-28 Worlds with humans make no sense whatsoever. Not at all. No way around it.
Future Trunks arc: I surprisingly loved it. I love Zamasu and his godlike power and the way he speaks to those puny humans, especially after fusing with black (but before his non-immortal part melted). I had two issues, though they got resolved via skimming through some boards: how is Mai as old as Trunks in the parallel future, and, why do they hurry in the past if they have a time machine. But both are apparently addressed in the manga. Pilaf stole the last dragonball wish before piccolo was killed by the androids, and, the time machine had fixed settings due to it traveling to alternative realities. (Which, now that I think about it, doesn't make sense, as Cell's time machine is from a third parallel time, meaning it should send them to yet another world.)
Also how did Zamasu travel permanently to future trunks' world using the time ring, but he couldn't stay longer in the regular present time for more than an episode?
aaaaahhh, regardless, loved that arc. I also liked how an actually weak Trunks could beat immortal fused Zamasu, while the others couldn't. I still think that fused Zamasu is still among the strongest characters in the multiverse, but because he is the god of creation, he is weak to the spirits of his creation. That's why I assume the "Genkidama" filled sword strike was capable of actually hurting him. By the way: Mafuba is supposed to kill the user if used correctly, so why is Trunks still up and running? At least address it somehow, that it takes so and so many amounts of energy, and that OG dragonball level characters don't have that amount of energy.I also liked the 6vs7 Universe battle. Although Goku saying that Piccolo has no chance against Frost is ridiculous. Piccolo is at least Cell/Dabura level which is far beyond Freeza. He could have still lost via poisoning, but Goku saying that Piccolo has no chance is just stupid.
For some weird reason I actually like Jaco, but they should introduce Bulma's sister properly and have her appear once in a while. I mean, we followed Bulma's life for 30something years now and suddenly she has a sister?
Finally the Tournament of Power arc: I love that they want to reintroduce 17 and 18 as battlers, and I hope Tien get's some time to shine, but really: Muten Roshi is the first one that comes to mind? Also if the universe is really at stake, Piccolo should fly to Namek and absorb more fighter Namekians.
But I'm looking forward how they resolve that issue. I'm not going to believe that they are going to kill trillions of people. Especially since Goku apparently doesn't care. Yes, I am one of those people, who can't believe how non-chalant Goku is about being responsible for starting the tournament, that determines who is allowed to live and who dies.A lot of text, but I really like the show.
Also, Goku never kissed Chichi? Poor Chichi, Goku really sucks as a father and a husband.
