Because games like Uncharted 4, Dishonored 2, The Last Guardian were simply superior, and did more for their own respective genres than Overwatch.
So you are saying Bethesda did something good last year.
I'm not going to quote you because it's a chore doing this stuff on a phone but HeartOfDarkness, I don't think MGS did too much for the stealth genre. It certainly was influential but not for stealth. Thief, Splinter Cell, and Hitman were the games that shaped the stealth genre. MGS has always been sort of on the sidelines in regards to this. Now if you go back to Metal Gear 1 and 2 those were certainly early influences for stealth in video games along with a few other games in the 80s.
As for the above post, I wouldn't pat the publisher on the back for good games coming out as much as the developers.
Edit: I could maybe agree with 2 being influential since it came out a year before Splinter Cell but I think Splinter Cell and Thief have had more lasting impacts on stealth and you can see this in stealth aspects of various games today.
I think this is a good time to remind everyone to plz be cool since it seems to be getting a little heated in here.

But yes carry on everybody. But maybe after going for an ice cream break and cooling down yeah?

That i can agree with even though i prefer the stealth mechanics of previous MGS games over all three of them, nostalgia, and all.
Though i would say that MGSV took the concept of emergent gameplay, and applied it to a large sand-box environment, and came out with a greater, and more organic gameplay then them imo.
MGO2 is being brought back by people making custom servers. This has been a thing for a while but you had to have a hacked PS3 but with this upcoming update it will work on any PS3. You just need a PS3, a copy of the original game (Legacy version not supported), and a small USB drive for files.
I'm so fucking happy. MGO2 was my absolute favorite online game. I imagine this will be a niche thing so you won't have to worry as much about people cheating in the games.
After a 12 year hiatus, Spike Chunsoft's Fire Pro Wrestling series makes it's triumphant return:
What's even better is it's going to be a international release.
Woah, now that's a game I never expected to be revisited! Can the remake excise all of those giant spider boss battles, please?

Lol that and make it so that the two scenarios aren't something you're forced to playthrough meaning you're not forced into some of the bad endings because you need to do something on one route to advance in the other route.
A Rosch looks like he'll be getting a redesign that makes him look his age.
I still have the original, but I will readily shell out the money for the remake, especially if the extra content is worth it. I'll have to tell my few friends that are big JRPG fans to get this game as well, as it was an overlooked gem on the DS.
Edit.

It's got nine radio stations/playlists that play songs that sound like they'd be in a Jet Set Radio game. That's some amazing dedication to curate so many stations.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/04/06/project-scorpio-tech-specs-revealed?read
Project Scorpios tech specs have been officially revealed
! CPU: Eight custom x86 coresGPU: 6 teraflops
RAM: 12GB GDDR5
Memory bandwidth: 326GB/s
Vapour-chamber cooling
1TB Hard Drive
! In simpler terms, the CPU is 30% faster than Xbox One's equivalent, with the GPU 4.6 times more powerful. Its RAM and hard drive read speeds are also improved, meaning 4K resolutions should be easily achieved and maintained.
! In a stress testing version of Forza 6, the console reportedly displayed the game at 4K/60 frames per second, using around 60-70% of its full power. A regular Xbox One runs the game at 1080p/60 frames per second using 90% of its power.
A racing game isn't a good way to judge performance in most games. And that's if that's even true. High end PCs that are more powerful than the Scorpio still have issues with 4k. The CPU is also the same as the Xbone, just clocked higher, which isn't going to give any significant performance improvements. Overall it will offer improvements but it won't run most games at 4k, at least with any decent framerates.
I honestly wonder how frequent these upgrades are going to be. I saw people on here complaining that current gen came too soon, when it was 8 years later, so having upgrades every few years must be more annoying. I think it's funny to watch though.

Microsoft has confirmed that Project Scorpio will be fully unveiled at E3 this year.
Finished a very long, unattended run of Watchdogs. At best, I give it a pass, useful to kill some hours, but lost its charm very quickly. Disappointed by the Online part, although having people intrude in your game was fun, but by the end, I would just kill indescriminately. The story was there for fluff and I doubt I would get Watchdogs 2. I uninstalled it as soon as the credits were done. I would say I completed 80% of the game.

I hear that the second one is significantly better, though as someone who didn't play them it's hard to say by what degree

That's certainly interesting to hear, however, given that I have so many others game I already own that I wish to finish, I'll have to pass. I also have started streaming again and now with Watchdogs out of the way, I can grab another ~long~ game and stream that. I am just trying to get a job as a developer or tester, so I need to figure out that first to know and make my schedule.

Vivendi could potentially buy out Ubisoft soon.
My relationship love/extreme indiference with heroes of the storm forces me to at the very least pick a bundle of heroes.
I like it in a conceptual and a meta sense, as an evolving mascot fighter game, but as a game itself I feel like I already burned that phase of my life.
The hearthstone community is such a loathsome bunch of whiny entitled assholes.
All April was "give us more free stuff", we get 3 free packs for a random celebration, all may has been complaining about the 3 packs.
Things like that makes it hard to motivate myself into going back to games as anything other than a code drone.
How does the 3DS version of Puyo Puyo Tetris compare to the console versions? I think the game looks cool but I only have a PS3 right now but am thinking of getting a 3DS and want to know whether it's worth it to get the mobile version.

The 3DS version is Japan-exclusive, so you'd need to softmod your 3DS to play it.
Oh. Does the Japanese version have English voices/text? I know I bought a couple Japanese Phoenix Wright games that did. Not that I care too much about the story but I still would like English if possible. I hope the PS3 version also isn't Japanese only.

No, even the menus are all in Japanese.
Guy does something nice gets rewarded for it gets people inisisting he didn't get anything of value from the reward or he should've been a dick and went into business for himself.
Getting the source code for a game isn't very common and allowing the community to work with it is always nice if possible. There are some legal issues but getting this close to having the source code and then not getting it certainly is worth being disappointed over.
Insert rant about how things never enter the public domain anymore here.
Source code belongs to the company and returning it was definitely the right thing to do. Making it public is nice for some people and for general knowledge, but there is no guarantee no one would fuck it up by trying to use it to screw Blizzard somehow.
Ready Or Not, a SWAT simulation game. Basically a spiritual successor to SWAT 3 and 4, though seems to want to be more of a simulation. They've talked about stuff like extreme animation detail for using items and weapons, detailed gore which is planned on being even more detailed, being able to lean and open doors with minute changes, adjusting movement speed with the mouse wheel, among other things listed on their site.

There's what looks like a tiny bit of gameplay too. Apparently the team right now is only 3 people so if what looks like gameplay is actual gameplay that's pretty impressive. It also looks like they're going to be touching on pretty controversial (and relevant) subject matter going by the trailer.
One of the most underrated games from last gen finally confirmed for PC
I played the demo for it and it seemed kind of cool but I felt like the framerate was an issue so it's nice that it'll finally be playable at 60+ fps. I'm honestly surprised they even have the game working at 60+ fps though as it being 30 fps on consoles would have made me think the animations and such were tied to the framerate.

Underrated or underperforming? Because pretty much everyone whose played it has sung it's praises.
Vanquish was doomed from the start, as single player only 8hr long 3rd person shooter in 2010. But it's so fricking cool it deserves a 60fps port
From what I've heard, 8 hours is pretty generous. Though the majority of Platinum games are really short (though designed to be replayed a few times) and they still sell enough for them to keep making games.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Square posts $43 million loss and cuts ties with IO Interactive, the people who make the Hitman games, apparently trying to find someone to buy them.
The geniuses that whined about Square snatching them (and Eidos) up in the first place might like that.
Vanquish was good. But apparently the real gameplay came from playing it on hard mode and trying to master it there.

God Hard mode is essentially two games in one: the campaign and the final boss. It's probably the hardest challenge of last gen or close to it

Why do they even make video game movies? Very few are successful, and almost none are any good.
They think if the game is successful then the movie will be too regardless of how much effort they put into it. It's out of touch suits making the decisions. I don't even think you could make a faithful adaptation of Thief. The gameplay isn't actiony enough and Garrett doesn't kill people, or at least not frequently. It's going to be an action movie with a thief skin on it. Like intense action bank robberies. And the characters are going to be as awful as the characters in Thi4f.
Why do they even make video game movies? Very few are successful, and almost none are any good.
Hollywood is desperate for IPs to make successful franchises out of. That's also why they're dipping into manga, anime and light novel territory more heavily than before.
You'll note that despite the lack of successful video game movies it hasn't deterred Hollywood from trying, while a single unsuccessful action or super hero movie starring a woman or a non-white character is an automatic con argument against every subse
