Limbo is free on Steam for a bit. If you haven't got this game yet, I'd hop on it.

That was super interesting. But it's pushing the boundaries of not having a life :P

I gotta give the guy credit, because it looks like he can write a dissertation on Super Mario 64's mechanics. There's even videos on doing stars without pressing A, or the 255 coin limit. It blows my mind.

That was just a how to get a single star. He could probably write a book about the whole thing.

steam summer sale has begun by the way.
-
I haven't gone on shopping sprees on one of these in ages. Lots of good deals too like there's a ~45 something metroidvania bundle with strider, shantea, salt and sanctuary, momodoria, axiom verge.
Sadly I'll probably won't buy anything given that Zero Time Dilemma hits next week, gotta catch up on Uncharted 4 during summer, persona 5 special edition awaits in september and if there's anything left I'm eyeing I am Setsuna. crying wallet
The temptation is pretty strong too, so many things I'd like to play.
-
These used to be more fun when the deals changed daily, and when flash sales existed to discount the games even further. It doesn't really have the surprise factor anymore.
-
Adding to that they pretty much have sales all the time … to me it's not that special anymore.
I don't even know if there is still a game i really want. Got too much already anyway ... -
Yeah, I don't know what it is, but I'm not blown away with these deals this time around. Maybe the mystique of Steam sales are now gone. It's like they wised up and only discounted this and that. That said, I still dropped like $70…
-
@Galaxy:

I prefer the lack of surprise. I mean sure flash sales are fun but I feel like the limited sale aspect also motivates purchases driven by artificial urgency. Feels better to ponder for up to 10 something days and then buying with the certainty of having considered it that long. Might just be me though. As for the mystique around sales not sure. I can say though that if you haven't bought anything in more than a year on these sales and don't buy everything AAA there are quite a few possibly worthwhile deals. Like all the AC games are pretty cheap haven't played one since black flag. That might have been a fun small purchase + most bugs are gone.
Can't wait for when fallout 4 game of the year edition is 10 bucks :P.
Pretty crazy though that GTA5 has retained it's standard discount. -
Lately I've been playing visual novels in excess. God damn it, I'm wasting so much time. I've finished about 10 in about a month.
On the same note, I just completed Muv Luv Alternative, and wow, that ending was atrocious. In case someone is reading/playing MLA right now, I'll spoiler the rest.
! Who would've thought a complex military and political drama, with gruesome death, sci-fi awesome, complex character development for the main character, and some of the coolest alien invaders I've seen, would end in the protagonist being sent back to romantic comedy harem land, all plot events being forgotten in the protagonist head, and the main time-travel dimensional plot line being solved by the power of love. Yes, I'm totally serious. THE POWER OF FUCKING LOVE.
! The protagonist was in a time loop because his stupid childhood friend willed it to be because she wanted him to screw her. In other words, she forced him through thousands of deaths and a whole fuck ton of brutality because she wanted the main character THAT MUCH. I mean, talk about bullshit. After he escaped the time loop, by virtue of fucking his crazy childhood friend, he was sent to a place where he could screw with more bitches than he could in the original Muv Luv (a harem game, which was far, far, far worse than the game I'm currently discussing).Like for fuck sake, how could a story with so much intrigue and such an awesome world be raped by such a poorly written ending? -
The Kickstarter thread is a bit old and unused to bump up, but I wanted to call attention to a project that caught my interest:
[Ikenfell
I](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/chevyray/ikenfell)t's a promising RPG that looks like it has a lot of character, interesting characters/designs, battle system that's like a close quarters Final Fantasy Tactics with action commands/timed hits and blocks, and music done entirely by Aivi and Surasshu, the people behind the soundtrack of Steven Universe. The project has already hit funding, but I think it's worth backing and keeping an eye on. If nothing else, it's almost definitely going to have a kickass soundtrack.
-
checks the higher tier backing, sees they are all taken, tosses money elsewhere
-
Bioshock The Collection officially confirmed. It wil be coming to XB1, PS4, and PC for $59.99 in North America on September 13, Australia on September 15, and internationally on September 16.
-
60 dollars is a bit too steep for a collection where they did absolutely nothing but port it. I mean I would justify the price if they actually enhanced SOMETHING (as they could touch up a few things here and there to make it look more towards the modern standard) or offered something well worth the price but..nah.
It also doesn't help that I played through all 3 already so. Yeah…probably not for me
-
A nice video that points out many problems from the new God of War

EDF 4.1 is being released on PC. http://store.steampowered.com/app/410320 The dev posting on the forums says is has mod support so I wonder how well that's implemented.I'm pretty excited. Out of all the Japanese games that have come out on PC recently this is really the only one I was interested in if it was ported. Looks fun.
-
My copy of Monster Hunter Generations has just arrived. Time to go hunting once more!
-
Enjoyed the EVO 2016 with Smash Bros. WiiU. So many intense matches. And an unusual character like Megaman making it to the finals. Well, now looking forward to the Melee finals :)
-
EDF 4.1 just released on PC. It's apparently a pretty good port. I'm downloading it now.
-
^My brother already possesses the XBox360 version of that game but buyed 4.1 anyway. We did some coop mode today, to farm some better weapons. Those missions with massive armys facing each other, where the horizon is filled with giant robots, are the best.
-
Currently playing the newly released Monster Hunter, and I'm having tons of fun. Try it out guys, you won't regret it.

Just finished Blood and Wine for the Witcher 3. Damn that game… a true journey.
Made me reflect on this year so far as a whole. We had some big series farewells(well at least for a while) this year.
Witcher, Uncharted and Dark Souls although there we at least still got DLC coming. -

Blood and Wine came out this year and it's pretty much closing the book on Witcher for the next foreseeable future.
Edit: also totally forgot about Zero Time Dilemma -
Heh, Quantum Break is being released on Steam and doesn't require Windows 10 anymore.

So has anyone been playing Obduction now that Cyan finally released it? Debating whether to start a thread for it. I've been playing it this week and overall I think it's an awesome game. It definitely lives up to Myst in terms of world design and atmosphere. The approach to puzzles is a bit different but still very satisfying for the most part.
I only have a couple of real compaints. The first is that I've run into a couple of bugs. Got stuck out of bounds once (though there is a way to fix it by switching the control to point-and-click… so glad I found that out), and the in-game screenshots you can take sometimes bug out. The second is that there are some pretty lame load times sometimes, particularly when loading into the starting area whenever you go back to it. My computer has enough RAM to load the entire game into memory, so I wish it took advantage of that.
But otherwise I'm having a lot of fun. I think my favorite thing so far was nerding out on fully deciphering a base-4 number system they created. I'd love to discuss the game with people. Although I haven't finished it yet.

I've played some of it.
It's certainly interesting to say the least. I left off in the junkyard gas station mechanic shop trying to figure out what to do with the numbers I deciphered form that goo puzzle thing.
-
Ah cool that you're also playing. And they actually just issued a patch today. It fixed my snapshots so that's great.
-
Well, I finished the game last night. All in all, including my time stuck out of bounds, deciphering things thoroughly that I didn't really need to, and meticulous exploration, it took me around 14 hours. Now if only I had people to discuss my take on the story with…
-
Triple post at this point but I just went through Obduction a second time. In part to pick up an achievement I'd missed and in part to see how fast I could run it. Turns out it took me 2 hours flat, and that includes at LEAST 5-10 minutes wasted on screwing up my routing (forgetting to do something when I was nearby) or messing up repeatedly on the last real puzzle in the game. For some reason it gave me more difficulty this time than when I first beat it. I was somehow screwing up the geometry in my head, maybe due to how late it is but who knows. But ah well, I'll shut up about the game now since nobody else seems to be interested.
-
In my defense I haven't beaten the game yet
-
This is…interesting, I guess?

I think this fits the definition of irony.
Edit:
Literally far future Stalker.

Been watching the Sega presentation.
Yakuza 6 looks amazing, meanwhile Valkyrie AR looks very worrying. -
Any good sources to be updated not only on games, but the industry's decisions as well. I find that IGN or meta critic may not be enough.
Thanks.

Kotaku is a fairly common one, though it also goes all over the place. Polygon is the other one that comes to mind.
IGN is sometimes capable of having news, but as a whole their team is pretty incompetent to me and makes me think of that "bro" side to gaming.

As Noqanky mentioned, Kotaku's probably the only one I can think of. I don't really go there, but I've heard they've gotten better over the past couple of years.

I'm glad I am not the only one whom got that vibe from IGN.

https://www.youtube.com/user/ExtraCreditzI have been watching some of these. I am taking an intro to game development class, and the prof showed us a couple of their videos. I like their stuff.

Great, I'll bookmark those and start checking them over so often. Whenever I travel I sometimes get PC gamer, any input on that. Thanks again.

Found a discarded gen 1 PS3 that was gingerly thrown out presumably due to the power and eject buttons not working properly.
Other than that, a slight roach infestation (thankfully most were already dead), and a dingy smell it seems to work.Don't know what I'll do with it still kind of leery after the last Gen 1 PS3 I used went into a coma and took my Infamous 2 with
it. -
So seems like everyone is puking out games throughout January and February kind of interested if there are others that are maybe kind of pondering on where they want to put their priorities. Going to list all notable releases might forget a few though.
- Yakuza 0
- Gravity Rush 2
- Tales of Berseria
- Persona 5
- Nioh
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- For Honor
- Nier 2
- Resident Evil 7
- Kingdom Hearts 2.8
- Berserk Musou
gonna honor mention the JP release of Dangan Ronpa V3 :P
Pretty sure I sold my soul to Nioh. That said Horizon could be pretty cool cause even if it's probably going to be a lot of AAA tropes it's robot dinosaurs. Hope I can get some spare cash for Yakuza 0 though one of my new favorite series despite the incredible jank and will drive you into despair if you ever attempt to plat one of them.
-
I'll probably still be on Yakuza 4 by the time 0 comes out.

There's also Yooka-Laylee, and add March and you also have Zelda and who knows what else. It's a crazy first quarter.
Personally I'm definitely highly intrigued by Nioh, Nier, and Tales of Berseria for sure, in addition to Yooka-Laylee as mentioned. Beyond that it depends a lot on what I see/hear for other games, such as RE7 (no faith in the franchise at the moment). Horizon is a game that looks like it will probably be cool, but honestly the robot dinosaur aesthetic is actually a turn-off for me. And I don't know if I want to dive into another big open-world RPG if I'm not really feeling it, especially with Zelda around the corner (which I am also very skeptical about, but who am I kidding I'm gonna buy it).

Wait what Zelda as in Breath of the Wild is march? O_o If it is I better get some part time cause I resolved myself to buy Zelda + NX in case it will be possible and Nintendo isn't stupid enough to release another region locked console in goddamn 2017.
Dang, I think what makes the selection especially hard is that most of these games are like 40-50+ games.
While not high on my priority list I look forward to the Yooka Laylee impression. Games looks pretty fantastic from what they've shown, definitely a game I want to get to during release droughts.
