Chapter 424 "Escape Ship" Discussion
-
-
Thanks for the chapter BF. (Hopefully someone will do a regular translation as the spoiler text doesn't appear to be complete.) That picture of Kokoro popping up in front of Franky was hilarious!
-
Hmm I must admit Im quite worried about the FF/Paulie crew. I know oda doesnt kill off characters but Im still concerned. If I remember correctly, isnt Impel Down right under Eneas Lobby? Maybe that is what is at the bottom of the water fall.
Sorry, but…
When and Where Oda says that Impel Down is under Enies Lobby?!?!? :wassat:
NEVER, in my opinion... it's simply and only a rumour that we can read in some OnePiece FanSite, but we have never read anything about this in a manga chapter... or I'm wrong?
If I'm wrong, please someone tells me the chapter and the page number when a OP character says that Impel Down is under Enies Lobby.
-

i can point out a chapter where it's said that it's NOT under enies lobby, if you need. nami said it's on the other side of the gate of justice.
-
Remember what Oda said: there are two paths past Enias Lobby: Marine HQ and Impel Down. There may be other islands out there, but unless the SH can get an Eternal Pose to avoid the two trouble spots, one of them could be their next stop.
-

Yea that's what I thought.
Impel Down ain't under enies lobby, it's really…..
500 AGED MERMAIDS! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!1111
-
that's right…
book n.38, chapter n.364...
Impel Down (and the Marine HeadQuarters too) is after the Gate of Justice; for this, It cannot be under Enies Lobby!!!!!!!
-
i believe that it would be interesting if the frankies & co really fell because i'm still wondering why is enies lobby like that, why isn't there any night and other questions (as what's the use of such a big gate) and the answer might be underground.
-
Hmm…
The title page sub-title is:
"What are they up to now" SHOT 1: "Conis, Aisa, Laki, and Nola go for a stroll on the Vearth"Looks like Oda might be going a different route with this title-page arc.
-
Thx for the chapter BF.
Now all we gotta do is wait for Luffy. I like how Oda has handled the reunion.
-
a better chapter then i thought it would be. got a little teary eyed with all the hugging. coolies for schoolies.
and luffy's gonna be wasted after this fight.
-

am i right?
-
What a great way to start my day. Screw breakfast! The way to start your day RIGHT is to get a good dose of One Piece. It was a wonderful chapter this week. Luffy is going to be wasted after this fight. Course, like all things in life, he will solve that problem by eating meat. lol!
I think Oda just kinda hinted as to what the Strawhats will be doing next…(or at least some time in the future.) When Kokoro mentioned the "merman island." That should be fun. We might get to see the merman shichibukai. (One of em' IS a merman right...I think I remember that being said somewhere. I could be wrong.)
I'm glad Robin is done being emo. It's good that she's happy and willing to accept her friends help. yay! I'm worried about Pauly and the others...I wonder what is at the bottom of that waterfall? (Other than certain death.) Hmmm...
-
The translations make it sound so awesome.
Thanks guys. Currently downloading.
-
Thanks BF!!! Downloading it now.

@Rekka1210:
I'll crap myself if Luffy does Jet Storm next chapter….
You may want to keep some toilet paper handy, just in case …
-
Thanks for th echap.
Not too much things to say about it, quite uneventful chapter, except the fact I'm curious about what'll happen to the Giants and FF. They seem to be in deep shit. Also it'd be interesting to know if Saul was a huge giant or if these BC ships are far bigger than 20 years ago, cause Oimo and Kashi are litterally dwarfed by them. I doubt they could pick them up and throw them away like Saul did.
-
Ty BF for the raw. I called kokoro walking on her fins :). Funny how someone said it was absurd, sometimes I don't feel I'm reading the same manga than most of the people here.
It's there any other way to save them?
I don't think is probable, but some CP9 might save them…
-
Good chapter. FF and Galley La really are in trouble. I'm very curious as to how Oda handles this…maybe the waterfall is the only way out...hell, I don't know.
I think Luffy vs. Lucci ought to wrap up next chapter. Luffy looked intense on the last page.
-
@HTC:
You may want to keep some toilet paper handy, just in case …
of course, either JS Lucci or the Buster Call…or BOTH! Oda hasn't dissapointed me yet....
i'm like 30% sure that's going to happen, if i'm not mistaken, just look @ the room luffy and lucci are in, its similar to the room from Rd.3 Croc vs. Luffy (if that made any sense)
-
Yeah, I noticed the resemblance to the Alabasta tomb as well.
It's even collapsing in a similar way, if I saw it right.
-
Thanks BF! Seems Galley La and FF are in a lot with Buster Call as well as Orm and Karsie are.
So, Luffy's finally using Gear 2 once again and looks like Lucci's pwnage draws near from the looks of things.
-
Since the spoiler text was virtually identical this time, I don't see any reason to translate the chapter… But I would like to point out that the first page doesn't seem to be a mini-story. Unless I'm misremembering, the other mini-stories all start out labeled as mini-story number (whatever). This picture is just called "Where they are now, Shot 1: Conis, Aisa, Laki, and Norla out for a walk on Vearth"... So maybe instead of a true mini-story we'll just get pics of what people are doing now? I dunno. But that's what I'd guess, not this being a mini-story.
I had a feeling something like this would happen.
-
On page 12, how was Sanji "redirected" into the mast? Was he kicked by Nami or Chopper? I can't really tell from the panel..
-
It's a good chapter. Heheehe poor Sanji… Thanks BF and also Kudou for the translation.
Robin's pose in the first page is so hot...
-
On page 12, how was Sanji "redirected" into the mast? Was he kicked by Nami or Chopper? I can't really tell from the panel..
Sanji was running toward Robin, but Chopper and Nami glomped her so that she was pushed from her original spot. So Sanji "missed" Robin and ran into the mast instead. That's how it looks to me, anyway. ^_^
Thanks for the chapter, BF!

er…
[qimg]http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/7237/152en9.th.jpg[/qimg]am i right?
Marieoja in the center, North, South, East, and West Blue on each side. The cross indicates the World Government literally encompases the entire OP world.
-
…You Dragon people sure are annoying...
I understand such fustration you bear but care that it does not become a flame.
I want to be in the middle; some part of me wants Dragon to appear, some part of me don't want him to appear yet so I really have no clue what to say about this.
-
Interesting, odds are that Luffy vs. Lucci fight will finish next chapter. Now, what will happen to Luffy after he uses this last move? He'll be so exhausted that he'll need to be rescued be the crew after it.
Now, what concerns me is what's happening to Galley La and Franky Family. They don't seem to be strong enough to beat Buster Call ships, so will they be rescued? Of course, I guess it's possible that they could use their dismantling skills to destroy those three ships.
-
Well, on Dragon appearing. Let us start the Deus ex Machina debate all over again. And then question if Dragon will sink the Buster Call, and asking if that will strip Usopp of his honor. Leading to a debate of him being a useless character again. Thus we stop discussing what happened in the chapter to an argument over who is being stripped of their moment to shine in this saga.
-
What's funny is people have been saying "Luffy vs. Lucci will end next chapter" for like the last 5 chapters, haha. Altho this time I think I believe it.
-
Yeah, it should be over already, but it seems that the chapter has focused on other things…
I think it will end next chapter, but I don't have a problem if it lasts another chapter...
Oda has never dissapointed me after all...
And we shouldn't be complaining about the chapters. We know that in the end we'll all be happy... -
What Dragon would do anyway? Spell another Roger poem? I like Usopp Spell more.
….Luffy vs. Lucci will end next chapter by the way.
But seriously, I have really liked past few chapters - since we got over those everlasting side fights - and this wasn't an exception. Lots of things to like about the chapter.
-
Of course, I guess it's possible that they could use their dismantling skills to destroy those three ships.
No, that is Impossible^^
-
Small thing put-off: in chapter 410, Robin warned that there is no human in that attack and warned the marines and agents to get off the island
In chapter 424, we see the EL marines and agents boarding the Buster Call.
Unless I'am not seeing it right, the EL soldiers enters the BC and become the part of it instend of killing them off.
Like Robin said in the last chapter: "It's not the same BC as before". If Spandam finds out about it he'll be pissed off at the BC for disgracing Justice. Also this proved that not all marines are twisted and evil
Oh and one of the VA has a bishop hat
Edit: That's strange, the chapter thread was usesly packed with so many people and this thread would be 5 pages or more longer in one day. Looks like the interst is fading. Sadly, some part of me wants to celebrate, but other part is me don't want to jump the conclusion yet
-
Ah ok I got a little confused then by the whole Impel down location my bad.
-
Also maybe its because people are busy again joekido with school starting again
-
Thanks for the chapter!
So it wasn't the most eventfull, more like a bunch of cliffhangers, but the interaction with Kokoro was priceless. ^^ Poor Sanji.
So now we know they're escaping on a marine ship. Could it be that they will slowly build this ship into their own, or will they ditch it in favor of something else? -
Okay, some people were asking for a translation other than the spoiler one, so I did one. Here it is. ^_^
-
Thanks Murasaki..great chapter.
Poor poor sanji -
This post is deleted!
-
<3 For the raw.
Can I bear your child Battle Franky?
-
Only four pages after a full day of hosting? Something seems amiss with Arlong Park. ~.~
-
Looks like this cover arc is just a one-shot each of where various characters are.
Really interesting.
-
Was Paulie on the giants when they fell? It looks like he jumped off to grab a den den mushi just before the BC shot everyone else off the bridge.
-
I'm probably not the first to notice here, but
@Murasaki:Franky: After all of Enies Lobby's destroyed, they'll probably come and try to fight for Nico Robin.
Sogeking: But we're all really beat up, and the ships have lots of strong guys on them!I smell a new round of fights coming! Where Usopp might actually get a battle worth mentioning! Sweet!
-
I'm probably not the first to notice here, but

That's actually a possibility now. The Buster Call isn't just going to let them sail away after all, hell, they should see them already.
-
I smell a new round of fights coming! Where Usopp might actually get a battle worth mentioning! Sweet!
Very possible, although I still think Lucci will have to do with defeating the BC. NOT HIM TURNING GOOD OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT!
Remember how Kreig got back up after Luffy already "won" the fight? I think Lucci will do something like that as well, where Luffy totally beats his head open and you think he's defeated and KO'd right in the middle of all the WG people. Then he gets back up, and he's a totally mindless animal.
To me, the reference to carnivorous Zoan's eventually losing control of thier bloodlust seemed too much like foreshadowing (if I'm remembering that part right), so I can just see Lucci getting taken to such a wall that he totally loses what humanity he has and just starts tearing the hell out of the BC soldiers, and the whole thing pretty much imploding in an ugly mess. And the irony of one of the WG's champions with the symbol blazing on his back helping to tear the BC apart would be priceless. Symbolic self destruction of a government perfectly willing to sacrifice it's own people.
As for Usopp, Defeating some random "thug" VC whose name we do not even know doesn't have much impact. It's not the level of the opponent Soge beats, it's the "presence" they have and the meaningfulness to the story. The CP9 fighters had such a huge build over such a long length of time, a random VC officer would feel more like a door prize.
Usopp would almost have to stop the BC itself, since the VA's lack individual characteristics like names and seperate personalities, probably to help dehumanize the BC. But because they have the "cog in the machine" feel to them, just taking out a cog in this war machine loses much of its glamor. I just can't see a random VA getting a fight with Usopp for a chapter or two, getting a nice spread, and calling it a day at this point. Oda is building this up and up and up, that's not how he'd end it for Usopp here. I don't know what he has in store, but I'm pretty confident that it's not something so easily predictable.
-
I agree there might be a posibility of Lucchi going out of control….but don't you think the Vice-admiral would have taken him out easily? they ARE Vice-Admirals after all.
-
Hell no, not another round of fights, if the Vice-Admirals are tough fighters like I think they are it'll drag the arc for 20+ more chapters, and if the Strawhats get rid of them fast and easily it'd make them look like nancies and would mean the Strawhats are likely already too powerful even for the Admirals.
Either way, it'd blow.
