What manga are you reading and how do you like it? What do you plan to read?

Bought the 1rst Volume of My Hero Academia and I really like it… can't wait to see which direction it will take.
I didn't like it at first, I thought it was cliched and cheesy as hell. But after just going ahead and barge through it the characters really grew on me and it is now high up on my Favourite Manga list. Midoriya is such a likeable protagonist~
a line________
I am currently reading Terra Formars. I am an animal-obssesed person, so it is exactly my cup of tea. The story itself is pretty entertaining and I like how the author insert little snippets of insect fun facts, plus the idea of how insect abilities can turn into when applied on a human being. I am not a big fan of its character art (the head is always slightly weird) but it has a lot of satsfiying landscape drawings.
-
I’m reading the few chapters of Princess Runna translated (which are quite long). I love this kind of stupid humour
-
Call me sick. Call me psycho but as of now the only manga im reading besides One Piece and Boku no Hero Academia is Kamisama no Iutoori Ni(As the God's Will 2) best slasher/killer manga ever and it is nearing to it's end!!! I highly recommend it!!![h=3][/h]

Reading online I found a few people obviously instigating proclaiming a Manga charcter by the name of Saitama can go head to head with one of my favorite charcters (Goku) might start reading One Punch man just to see what he can do.

He is strong but he does not go around one punching every thing to death also they have a anime version as well but Goku and the others could destroy planets back when vegeta first appeared before super saiyan so i would not put him on the same level as super saiyan or higher.
-
Saitama is a walking parody.
He's literally made to be OP.Any character you could pit him against would lose, just because that's Saitama's point as a character. It's literally his lot in life to be above everyone else.

I'm reading Inuyashiki by Oku Hiroya (Gantz). Usually I don't get a feeling of confort or satisfaction with this author. Still the story gets me intrigued for what it's going to happen next. It's like a curse: I don't like it but I have to read it.
I have to admit, when that antagonist went around murdering internet trolls I experienced a twisted sense of satisfaction.
The emotion and drama behind characters are FAR better than Gantz, and closer to his earlier works. I hope he doesn't lose his touch again.

Yeap. I like the characters. It get's me intrigued the clash between the geezer and the youngster; specially the moral clash. I guess the point of the story is this last. But too much murdering around gets me the feeling there is come kind of twisted pleasure on showing people murdering. And seeing the geezer trying to figure out how to find the youngster and how to reach his level doesn't help much… lol.
-

I'm afraid we are going to see 20 chapters of the old man trying to reach the young man level and meantime a lot of murdering around…
I just read Batou Shoujo by mebae (it's what batoto's profile says). It's a oneshot reading for masochists who likes echii... To my surprise, I liked it. :-)

thanks to lootcrate anime, im Reading vol 1 of Your Lie in April

I've been reading manga for a while, and I have a problem controlling the amount of series I follow. I remember around 2009 I was somehow following 40 series at a time (a bunch ongoing). Here is my profile in baka-updates: https://www.mangaupdates.com/mylist.html?id=20832&list=complete (From there you can see the shows I completed, my wishlist and my on hold list. My current reading list is not accurate anymore.
Onto the shows I'm currently reading: (I also re-started most of them and I am up to date, but I just want to keep seeing more and more details now that I know how the story develops) Ideally I would like to follow 10 shows, and at least 2 are completed, that way I am not stuck with ongoing series and I can cycle between shows.
Re-reading:
God of Highschool Ch. 39
The Breaker Ch. 37 (I have completed both Breaker and New waves.)
Tower of God Ch. 60
Toriko Ch. 37
Hunter x Hunter Ch. 36
One Piece Ch. 54
Kingdom Ch. 42
Feng Shen Ji Ch. 35–--Completing
Get Backers Volume 14
Air Gear Ch. 133
Noritaka Ch. 50 (I stumbled upon this and it is HILARIOUS), too bad it ain't fully scanlated so once I catch up I'll have to put it on hold.Other series I follow because of my subscription to Viz or friends recommendation:
Bobobo-bo-Bo-Bobo
Good reaper Ch. 3
Boku no Hero Academia: Up to date
Black Clover: Up to date
Food wars: Up to date, but skipped a bunch of chapters.
Hajime no Ippo: I skipped some chapters, but I did read from chapter 1-1000. -
I'm currently re-reading Sunny, a manga series by Taiyou Matsumoto (one of the best mangaka of all time) and probably his magnum opus.
-
I began Baby by Chang Sheng (Oldman) which just got a scanlator. Heavy action and nice art to begin with in the first chapter.
-
I am rereading Monster by Naoki Urusawa. Read it when I was in primary, too young to understand the true greatness of the story.
Dang its good. I look forward for Johan and his nice guy smile every chapter.
-
I'm reading the webtoon Sperman… Honestly, it is not because I'm a pervert but because it is written by Ha Il-Kwon the author of Annarasumanara !!!
-

20th CB has a better supporting cast and is a more of a 'fun version ' of Monster. Though Lunge is by far the best character Urasawa has ever created. I also preferred 'Friend' more than Johan.

I imagine not many others here read Afternoon, but there's bound to be some.
Anyone else enjoying Nami yo Kiitekure?
It's the radio personality reality comedy manga by author of Mugen no Juunin (Blade of Immortal)I've always loved his more modern-slice of life work (I LOVED Ohikkoshi) over the more well-known samurai manga, and been following this title since the start. Have the first two tankoubon too.
But I've yet to see it mentioned in English speaking circles. -

But I've yet to see it mentioned in English speaking circles.Sadly there's only one chapter translated (with not good comments in Batoto, maybe the translation). Wish there'd be more afternoon stuff translated.
I ended Nostradamus Love which is the story of the blossoming of a young woman who thinks she's going to die on an specifid date. It's a short but sweet and compeling manga.
-
Yeah it's kinda odd. Afternoon is one of the best manga magazines out there.
Of the currently running titles my faves are Historie, Vinland Saga, Pathologist Kishi Kyoichiro's findings, and Nami yo Kiitekure.
Genshiken, Tenno Ketsumyaku, and Kotonoba Drive are good too.The magazine is also really strong with excellent one-shots and mini-series.

Two of the most underrated manwha/manga ever! People should really check them out.Gonna go back to reading Gintama

Ashinano Hitoshi is among my favourites authors. I bet he has a scooter and just loves to take rides around, and also that he must be a sen practitioner or something like that. So first he has the experiences in his everyday life and later he draws his fantastic mangas. Some chapters of Kotonova drive have some similarity with koan sen (just that it's is manga version ). But you find the same poetics in Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou and Kabu no Isaki: scooters, fantastic delusional apparicions, the magic of flying.
Talking about great oneshots published in afternoon, Hitoshi wrote Shimering of the Sea, which is a golden jewel and is a homage to Urushibara's Mushishi (also published in afternoon).

Have you read Hellper? The art is not standard and very creative and amusing, despite the heavy metal appearance of the protagonist (which I don't like much). The storytelling is really really good. It has no flaws, great supernatural worldbuilding, good sense of humour, touching mini-stories, good drama and wild action. It's the best shounen I'm reading (over OP, Tower of God, Noblesse, Seven Deadly Sins, etc).

Yeah Kotonoba Drive is a feel good title where it leaves no lasting impression like Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, but is comfy while reading.
Although really his works are essentially the same lol.
It's certainly not something to binge (it would get mundane if read in bulks), but rather fits better in a serialized reading IMO. -
Bought the three first volumes of BNHA. Vol. 4 comes out tomorrow.
I really, really like it. Finally a manga I can truly relate to. -

I'm reading Teasing Master Takagi-san by Yamamoto Souichiro. Here's the description of mangaupdates: https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=100075. It happened to be an episodic manga cute but a bit repetitive about a lovely girl pulling pranks all the time to a naive boy… until ch 31 when
! the author shows an unbelievable vision of the future, with she being an adult mom and with no clues about where is the other MC. Totally unexpected and very unusual in manga afaik. Someone on Batoto says it's the author pulling a prank on the readers :D
-
I just got into Vanitas no Carte/Case of Study of Vanitas. It is really funny.
-
I love Diamond No Ace! I'm wondering why we still don't have a dedicated thread for that here. Been following it since the first volume was scanlated by imangascans. They're not doing it anymore and release have been really late on them. But someone (TDX) is doing Act 2 (Sawamura is now a second year) and current with it. And oh boy, the events right now are pretty awesome!
-
I'm planning to read either the first three parts of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure or Hunter x Hunter. I'm not sure which I should start with, though; outside of part three of Jojo, I have very little experience with either series.
-
Just started reading Monster ( was waiting for all volumes to release ), so far it's been a very intriguing start and I'm hooked, hopefully no supernatural stuff happening, don't like those in mystery plots. ( How did he and his sister disappear though? there has to be a third party not revealed yet I think. )
Oh, and caught up with Seven deadly sins, don't like the dbz direction after chapter 100 ~. Escanor is the only thing keeping me from dropping it (seriously, what a character).
-
finished my hero academia's anime, loved it and now im reading the manga.

don't read HXH. the 2011 anime is way much better than the manga, go watch that instead. same thing for jojo, the anime made it much better.
-
Kwel group has relased two volumes in 2 weeks of 81Diver and now I'm like 20 chapters behind.
… No Yokusaru, you do not have to spam the pages with font size 200pts bold text in every single page.
I was wondering if someone asked him about his like for the big dialogue bubles. Certainly is a shame because of the art. But the story is funny to me.
I'm really happy with Golden Kamui, which is just…. crude, tender, hillarious, intriguing story all in very singular manga about cooking, tatooes, treasures, wild assesinations, cute natives and the care for nature.
-
Hajime no Ippo… cos it's never gonna end...
Shingeki no Kyojin... cos it's the Game of Thrones of mangas... -

If you want to speed things up, watch the 2011 anime for Jojo part one. Then go to the manga for part 2 and 3. because they're worth reading moreso than part 1.
As for Hunter, just read it. The anime is excellent, but you'll probably find it's more time consuming than just reading the series. As for Togashi's art… it's a bit sketchy at times, but still worth your time to get the proper Hunter x hunter experience.

Recently finished Oyasumi Punpun. Cried so much at the end, thought it was amazing, Aiko is one of my favourite characters in anything ever. So many powerful scenes
Am reading Lone Wolf and Cub having bought ALL the Dark Horse omnibuses. Super informative, interesting and great, with Retsudo being such an intense villain. Series is building to what looks like a terrific climax. How stupidly strong Itto kind of takes away from the realism however.
Plan to read Golden Kamui, Real, Nana, Dorohedoro and Eden: Its an Endless World next. -

I feel like picking up Vagabond to fill the empty void of my heart. Mostly because I browsed through its Google Images search and instantly fell in love with its art. But I heard that its on hiatus because it has reached a Writer's Block, so any advice on whether I should start? And more importantly, is it worth a read?

Have you read Sengoku Youko? It's glorious.
Or maybe some Chocolat, (despite the romantic cover it has gansters and heavy action and, yes, it's beautiful romance) for an empty heart

A bit iffy on Sengoku Youko's character design… but I heard good things, yeah. I'll give it a shot, and maybe Chocolat too. Thanks!
Well, the empty void in my heart is mostly due to me finishing all existing Berserk chapters (for the 1st time!) and mentally beating myself for not reading it sooner. :ninja:

Vagabond is amazing
