Kevin James has fans?
People liked King Of Queens…...and the first Paul Blart movie for some reason.
Based on several comments made in the reviews it seems Suicide Squad was cut to shreds.
You could say it was bludgeoned with a crowbar and blown up alongside Batman vs Superman:ninja:

Toss-up between the movie execs who greenlit everything, Snyder, or the fans like Spec & Wolf:ninja:

I'm glad that such thing is becoming possible in my country.!
! video not from youtube
Not that I went there myself, since I've already had imax tickets on my hands :P -
I can't believe they got the trailer people to cut the full movie. I guess that would explain why the reviews say it feels like watching a bunch of music videos one after another.
-
What they need to do is take some regular ass people from off the street, not fans, and do those kind of screenings in advance before they do any million dollar reshoots. That way you'll get some honest opinions.
I'm seeing it tomorrow and I'll finally see what all the hubbub is about.

From what I've seen, it's just BluRay.

Watched the Ultimate Cut of BvS yesterday for the first time and while it sure added scenes to explain more stuff and make the movie not as terribly edited like the theatrical cut was, it is still meh and man… watching it at night for 3 hours made me almost fall asleep. xD
But the most hilarious thing for me is still the scene where Batman shoots a tracking device onto the truck and instead of, oh I don't know, being a goddamn Batman and just follow the truck to Lex Corp where he can easily steal the kryptonite through stealth, like a batman would. No, he just immediately jumps down into his bat tank and starts murdering people.
And what does superman do while hearing all this destruction on the streets? He waits for batman to drive up to him so he can stop him all badass like, say a dumb line and fly away, instead of stopping the carnage before it gets too far. xD
Don't get me started on the superman can hear lois from anywhere in the world, but can't find his mother in gotham even though he concentrated on her voice from his child hood in man of steel and lived with her way longer than with Lois.
Edit: If it's true that Ayers original cut was thrown out in favor of a more lighthearted fun one after screenings, then what was the point of WB saying some time ago that they wanted the DCEU to have movies where the directors could express their vision fully, instead of it being studio driven like the marvel movies?
-
Margot Robbie has good scenes, Will Smith makes some good jokes but
! –I don't get why the latino guy starts fighting. He was like "I won't fight, don't like violence..." but Will Smith says something like "hey pussy, are you gonna fight?????!!!!!!!" and then he burns people. wtf.
--So Clara Delevingne is suppose to be an archeologist. She's 23... well this is bullshit. And she is going all alone to do some archeologist stuff ? aren't you suppose to have a team with other scientist and all????
! –-The plot is very messy.
The first mission of the squad is to stop one of them…
-------------There wouldn't even be a plot if she hadn't called the Enchantress in her dream ( which could have happened at anytime before they even thought about creating the Squad )
–-----------The whole situation could have been solved with, idk an airstrike ? okay we've seen a plane crashed in the movie but they still could have launch one from one of their big boat.
–-----------Why nobody knows what's going on in this city ? ( and what city is that ? Metropolis ? Gotham ? or something else ? ) Even the guys from the Navy Seals don't know. WTF !!! Nobody reads the newspapers, watch the news on TV, or whatever that could let you know what's going on ? like going on twitter ?
! –The action is boring.
–Harley Quinn didn't join the Enchantress because of the power of friendship….......
–The navy seals guy carries Deadshot's daughter letters for some reason.....
! –How the fuck the Joker disappears ? I don't know if this is a bad thing but wtf. His helicopter explodes, he survives... his car crashes on the sea and he just disappears before Batman comes.
-Deadshot didn't kill Dick Flag or the guy that wasn't nice with him in prison.
! What are they talking about at the end with Bruce ? she says governments guys asks questions. she even said the name of the place. what is it ? is that The Justice League secret place ?
and why does Bruce take the Enchantress files ? is she gonna be part of the team too ? -
:ninja::ninja::ninja:

this isn't even the ultimate edition. he is sinning things that are explained in the cut scenes. but well, I laughed like 4 or 5 times.

And heeeeeeere comes the cast/crew responses to the criticism
@will:I think people had expectations that may have been different, but I’m excited for the fans to get to vote.”
So far so good
@Director:I made the movie for real people who live in the real world. I made the movie for people who actually love movies and go and see movies.”
Yeesh not this again
The critics have been absolutely horrific, they’re really, really horrible. You know, I just don’t think they like superhero movies.”
And this one is just deluded fanboy level dumb. What were Deadpool and Cap 3s review scores again? And really, most of the criticism doesn't appear to have to do with the tone, subject matter, or creative decisions, but rather with the thing being a mess in terms of script and structure. I think "Real People" appreciate those things too, not just critics.
-
Will Smith not being dumb and posting some nonsense that will only get ppl more angry, but Ayer and Cara…lol.
If your movie isnt doing well in reviews just shut up and say nothing at all. When will they learn? xD
-
I can understand being passionate in your defense of something you've worked hard to make, but yeah, not exactly the most professional route to take
-
How the hell did I missed the new Batman Lego Movie trailer?!
-
Regarding lego batman trailer:
In Batmans voice: Love it. ;)

well, it'd probably be worse. but you know they signed a contract right ? which probably states something like "you can't say badddd things about Suicide Squad or the the DCU".
I know that some directors or actors have said that the movie they directed/played in wasn't good, that they deceived the fans or whatever but still. ( well it's probably something like that )but, what we can despise is that
even though people would protect him "uhhh he's just joking, chill out dude", he is just behaving like someone in youtube's comment section. he's just cocky, sassy, arrogant and everything…
-
@John:
well, it'd probably be worse. but you know they signed a contract right ? which probably states something like "you can't say badddd things about Suicide Squad or the the DCU".
Doesn't mean they are forced to make dumb comments about how the critics are all stupid for not liking their movie etc. and only making things worse.^^

Why is it that actors that have worked on DC movies pretend that there is nothing wrong with the movie and critics/ people just don't like superhero movies? Seriously fucking James Nguyen has shown to be more respectable towards the criticisms of his movies. The fucking guy that created Birdemic. While DC goes "Herp it's all the haters derp".
Jesus DC should start putting disclaimer that their movies are made for idiots, and that anyone who cares about little more than big explosions should not be allowed to watch it. Because they clearly can't handle any criticism that doesn't stroke their own egotistical edgy view of comic book movies.

Birdemic was designed to be a bad movie so of course Nguyen is going to be receptive to bad criticism.

Errhh… It's easier to shift the blame into something else and try to salvage as much audience as they can.

Yes.

Lego movies giving a more entertaining (and FUN) interpretation of DC characters. Man, what an age.
-
Okay the Squad itself is awesome, the mission…not so much.
-
Is it too much to ask to see Will Smith in a good movie nowadays?
They just need to get him to do Hancock 2 lol
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Sure…Sandler and friends. xD
Hehe certainly getting his share of the American Pie

Just saw Suicide Squad. And boy that…..sucked.
! While I appreciate the nod to the comics with Boomerang tricking Slipknot into testing the explosive inside them, they couldn't have made it more obvious he was going to die when they went into the backstory of every squad member except for him.
! The editing was just bizarre. The film kinda went back and forth on justifying the flashbacks every other scene. Half of it is Amanda Waller having a nice Steak, Wine, and Exposition dinner with unimportant government folk, or from someone like Diablo explaining his past. The other half of the flashbacks just kinda came randomly and felt out of place.
! I loved almost the entire cast. Viola Davis is probably up there as my favorite live action Amanda Waller. Bone chilling confidence in her performance.
! Will Smith was fine as Deadshot. Was really just angry Will Smith who has really good aim and a heart of gold.
! Robbie was on point as Harley Quinn. She was showcased the most throughout the movie and definitely pushed in the audiences face a couple of times to hammer home the point that "she'll say crazy/cute things around all these military men and super criminals, look how quirky and unique she is!".
! Joel Kinnaman was the stand out actor for me. I expected him to just be the standard soldier guy who comes to trust the squad….which is pretty accurate. But he felt pretty real. Stock badass special ops guy, but he had a nice blend of good and bad going on with him. He went right along with Waller's orders after she killed her staff and only went against her orders when he thought she was dead and there was not hope left. But at the end of the day he still was someone who just wanted to save the girl. So pretty generic character, but solid performance.
! Everyone else was forgettable and unnecessary. People slammed X-Men Apocalypse for being crowded and not giving enough development but this one takes the cake. Would it make sense for someone like Rick Flagg to have Katana as his guard on the squad? Sure, why not. SHOULD it be done for the sake of the film? Probably not if you're gonna put once scene explaining her backstory, some quick fight scenes where she does one or two things, have her talk to her soul sword, then have it be a last minute kyrptonite spear for Enchantress. Boomerang wasn't funny and barely contributed. They should have taken a look at Arrow/Flash's version of him for inspiration. Killer Croc was useless except for the one job that Superfriends Aquaman(or those divers) could have solved. And he was a black stereotype for some reason just shouting profanity ever once in a while and asking for BET for saving the day.
! Diablo was fine, but predictable....that's really all I have to say about his story and character.
! The absolute worst part of this movie was the Joker though. Now I was very excited on this interpretation of the Joker. The trailers seemed to tease that we were in for a sadistic comedic clown prince of crime. What we got was a semi lobotomized Jared Leto who on all accounts went fucking nuts on set of this movie. Well none of that "nuts" was in the movie. He can walk the walk, but not laugh the laugh. I do appreciate the nods to the classic Joker and Harley works from Alex Ross, but that's all this Joker was. Some nods to the fact that "yes this is the Joker, we're not fucking with you " but he was just a mostly silent sociopath who was good with a gun.
! Now I'm a pretty big DC fan. I even have the Bat symbol tattooed on my chest. I defended MoS, because despite being a depressing tone for Superman, I believed Henry Cavil was a good Superman and still enjoyed it. BvS pushed my limits but I still chose to see the good aspects of it, despite the many things it did wrong.
! No defending this movie. It was ass.
! Oh yeah and the Flash's suit sucks. -
I saw Suicide Squad last night, and I enjoyed it.
! The main characters were really well-done (especially Killer Croc; I didn't expect anything from him, but he had some funny lines and some pretty good character development), and characters like Batman and the Joker were used well (while they had a strong presence, they didn't take over the movie; it's refreshing that the Joker wasn't the main villain, but just a gigantic monkey wrench thrown into everyone's plans).
! I didn't know about half of the cast going in, so I'm glad that they included brief scenes showing off most of them and explaining their backstory. The words appearing on-screen to describe them was a bit cheesy, but it got the job done and showed some interesting details (Deadshot being deadly with a potato gun, and Harley apparently being the one who killed Jason Todd).
! Deadshot got the most screentime, of course (being a major Suicide Squad member in the comics and being played by Will Smith has that result), and it's no surprise that they went into a lot of Harley's backstory and gave her a large amount of scenes, but I thought the rest got a good balance. Boomerang got less screen-time than I thought he would, but Jai Courtney was actually entertaining in the role, a sentence that I never thought I would say or type.
! Viola Davis owned the role of Amanda Waller, and while Rick Flag seemed kind of bland going into the movie, it made him somewhat interesting. Some of the Joker's scenes were cut going by what was shown in the trailers (which makes me think that, when it comes out on DVD, they'll release the extended or Bluray version as "Suicide Squad: Joker Edition"), but the scenes that we did get established him pretty well as a blend of Jack Nicholson's and Heath Ledger's versions - an eccentric gangster who is pretty unpredictable, and violent over the pettiest of reasons. He seemed more like the comic book version of the character, whereas Jack Nicholson was Jack Nicholson in make-up and Heath Ledger did his own thing to great effect. (though, for me, the quintessential Joker is still Mark Hamill)
! Whoever put together the soundtrack deserves a raise - there were some great song choices in the movie.
! Some plot points (chiefly, who would get killed off) were predictable, and the main villain wasn't great (her plans were vague, at best, and that constant dancing thing towards the end was weird), but other than that, I didn't have any problems with it.It had its flaws, but I didn't see them being particularly major, let alone "3/4 of critics absolutely hate this movie" levels of major. I found it to be an enjoyable summer blockbuster which did a good job at showing off some pretty obscure DC characters.
-
I watched the movie two days ago and I really liked it.
! The only thing that bothered me a little is the villain because she was so ridiculous. The fact that the Joker wouldn't be in the movie that much was expected since he certainly was not going to be the villain.
! The humor was good but obviously not as good as the humor in a MCU movie. -

Cinemasins is a horrible horrible movie "critic", and critic is in quotes because he doesn't actually critic movies as much as he just looks for things in them that can be called "sins" and makes jokes about them. he ignores context and he ignore plot points that could ruin his shitty jokes.
furthermore, his points are presented so quickly that he doesn't give you a chance to think about them, leaving me to think that he does so intentionally just to cater to the people with short attention spans who can't sit (or read) through a proper analysis of the movie, and just want some snarky douchebag to nitpick a movie and make shitty unfunny jokes about it. that is stupid, movies are more than just mistakes and plot holes that directers overlook.
"this scene doesn't include a lap dance DING!"
HAHAHAHAHA fucking hilarious!
fuck him. go watch red letter media instead, those guys are the best movie critics ever.

Edit: Suicide Squad that we got is basically a mess of a cut done by the trailer ppl, judging by the troubled production news. Doesn't mean the original vision of Ayer would have been better, just that maybe WB should stop being so damn reactionary to every thing and try to immediately change the next movie. Ayer is not Snyder etc. Which means even though SQ might have been also dark and gritty, but not as soulless and dull as BvS.
Even though it is by no means perfect, I recommend watching Assault on Arkham instead, there the bad guys seem to be actual bad guys and not just saying we are the bad guys constantly without actually showing it. xD.

I am scared to see Suicide Squad now

I am scared to see Suicide Squad now
Give it a chance; I feel like the reviews greatly exaggerated its flaws. It's not a cinematic masterpiece, but it's still really fun.
-
Cinemasins is a horrible horrible movie "critic",
Uhm… Cinema Sins is a joke site. They state that pretty regularly. They're not supposed to be seen as a serious critic.
Just look at their review of Jaws or Alien where they take off sins right at the top for them even daring to touch the movie, or whenever they remove sins for a scene being awesome. Or the video where they sin Cinemasins. Or any time they do a bonus round to get a movie from hundreds into the millions. They're telling jokes, hence the rapid fire pace, and why their format has switched from 3 minutes to 18 for most films.
And yes, they're generally pretty funny.Red Letter Media is getting by 100% on the reputation built by their Star Wars reviews, pretty much no one gives a shit about half in the bag. Everyone just wants them to do the Nolan Batman movies and Episode 7 already. They are good at actual analysis yes, and I like them, but its years between the releases anyone cares about.
-
Um no. I am pretty sure hundreds upon hundreds of thousand fans arent just sitting through every video waiting on plinkett reviews. They are good and funny and thats why we like them. Half in the bags are great and so are the science man etc videos.
–----------------
Obvious spoiler warning.
Get ready for that Ultimate Edition, lol. Sigh.
-

I'd say half In the bag has come into its own nicely. Previously recorded can be plenty entertaining (their The Order video is great), and Best of the Worst is frequently gut-bustingly hilarious. Seeing Rich Evans trying to explain a Neil Breen movie trumps everything else they've done in terms of entertainment value.
I like most of their stuff, but their style is very blunt and internet-hyperbolic (plenty of "all people who think this are morons!" going on), which can get grating. I can of course let it slide whenever they're reinforcing my opinions or talking about stuff I don't care about, but it makes their stuff really, really hard to watch if I disagree with them. Recently, their attitude towards the Ghostbusters reboot has been a real turnoff.
-
Except ghostbusters was totally bland and unfunny, so they are right about it. xD
-
BvS>>>>Suicide Squad
( imo )
-
CinemaSins started out somewhat serious. Videos at 3 or 4 minutes. Only a few jokey sins. But now they are 20 minutes long and half of the sins are rubbish. So I stopped watching. Youtubers who've been doing it for a while start doing longer videos as time goes on, I've noticed. And quality dips too.
Bummer about SS. For the sake of the cast I do hope it does well in the box office.
-
It would kind of suck to have a permanent tattoo in memory of an unsuccessful film you bonded with the whole cast over lol.
I'm probably going to watch Suicide Squad tomorrow. My expectations weren't ever too high and the team's never really interested me in the comics. I am very curious about what Leto's Joker performance will be like though. Feels a lot more gangster-ish with a design akin to, say, the Joker's portrayal in Batman R.I.P. I hope he works on that laugh though, it sounds painfully awkward in every clip I listen to of it.
-
Except ghostbusters was totally bland and unfunny, so they are right about it. xD
It was plenty funny. It had a bunch of bad jokes sure, but it had plenty of good ones too.
If it were a brand new franchise instead of a reboot people would be all over it like Men in Black when it first came out.
-
Even if it were totally new it was just mediocore at best, and I loved Spy from Feig.
-
Half in the Bag > How It Should've Ended = Honest Trailers > CinemaSins

Except ghostbusters was totally bland and unfunny, so they are right about it. xD
Theres that good ole' internet hyperbole again. In all seriousness, disliking the movie is totally fair and legetimate; art is subjective, and what is funny and exciting to others might not be to you or Red Letter Media. But their whole attitude about it has just been aggravating; an endless stream of "I didn't like this-""OH YOU'RE A SEXIST MANCHILD THEN HAW HAW SARCASM" jokes. I'm sure theres been plenty of that stuff going on in earnest too, but RLMjust kept going on about it, culminating in their recent Science Man Explains video, and having just watched it, its a piece of damn intellectually dishonest garbage that actively lowers my opinion of them.
I mean, they bring up Leslie Jones racist twitter storm, only to instantly "diffuse" it by showing a clip of Dan Akroyd saying that pathetic racists are targeting the movie. "Look, they smack-talked negative critics too, calling them racists! It only figures there'd be a racist attack on one of the actors!" The fuck is that, and thats just one thing. And no, its not all in jest, the video contains actual facts as well, and the jokes are, again, them calling each other sexist basement dwellers sarcastically. Them saying "some of the critics giving positive reviews were defending the movie against hateful criticism beforehand, thus invalidating their review!!" is not presented as a joke.
They've always been cynical and dickish, but this is like when your crass, intelligent, funny, kinda assholish friend goes out of line, and its just the assholishness shining through.
-

i know that. even if it's not serious, i just don't like how he reduces a movie to a collection of "sins" taken with no context. he doesn't view movies as whole or analyze whether or not the movie did what was supposed to do (that's too hard!), movies to him are just mistakes to be pointed out.
he perpetuates the douchebaggy snarky belief that if a movie has plot holes, product placement, filming errors, or whatever he likes to nitpick then the movie is bad, and that is evident by his fans' comments. -
Seen Suicide Squad. Man. . .this was bad. Not even gonna dwell into spoiler territory, just gonna tell it how I saw it (and my friends who went with me; 5 guys and we all agreed 100%). Basically, barely anything works.
- The dialogue doesn't work (some specially cringe worthy moments in here)
- The humor doesn't work (specially aggravating with Harley who has to be quirky/psychoCute at every.single.occasion.she.has)
- The editing is among the worse I've seen in a movie in a LONG time.
- The presentation + visual flair is atrocious (the character introduction scenes take obnoxious to a whole new level of meaning).
- The soundtrack is obvious as fuck, and it tries SO HARD to be cool that. . .it becomes obnoxious instead.
- The fights are criminally dull.
- The climax is beyond criminally dull.
- The villains trespass the realms of reality and enter a new dimension where "criminally dull" has to be redefined beyond our comprehension because the human definition of "criminally dull" can't even begin to grasp how fucking dull the villains are.
- The "crew bonding" moments don't work.
- The narrative is atrocious, with an impossibly long exposition intro filled to the brim with flashbacks, explanations, character introductions. . .I swear, that scene is at the very fucking least 30 minutes long. Not joking. And it's oh so incompetently narrated.
- And last but not least, the drive pushing the characters forward is nonexistant.
The actors are the only positive element of the movie, and how they tried to do something with some of them, specially Deadshot and Harley (surprise surprise?). Except Leto's Joker was so. . .meh. I saw a dubbed version in spanish so maybe the original is better, though. But still. Underwhelming.
If you're in no rush to see it, just. . .skip it. The trailers are the definition of fake advertising, but gotta say, they're cool as hell. So. . .just watch the trailers instead.
-
Cinemasins makes long videos of straight up just ripping alot of the movie footage, gets no copyright claims, writes subpar comedy and gets millions of views and makes mad money. xD
-
Movie's villain(s) are so bad, people should no longer have the right to complain about Marvel villains. Because, in 2 movies in the DCCU, Suicide Squad and Batman v. Superman, the villains have been so bad that…so bad...I can't even compound my thoughts to make a cohesive statement about how terrible they are. LOL Basically, I'd take The Manderin, Ronan (actually, Ronan isn't bad, he fulfilled his purpose well; thought he was really intmidating and I'm happy he was nigh-unbeatable by normal means), and Malekith and Kurse over them anytime.
At least Cara D. is hot as hell, and has a strong eyebrow game. Can't say the same for Doomsday and Jesse Eisenberg's absolutely mediocre attempt at Luthor.
-
@The:

I don't know, I think doomsday is pretty hot and his nobrow game was on point. xD:ninja:
On a serious note though, I totally agree, while I think the dc villains are way better than marvel ones, they certainly have been terrible when it comes to make them great on film in the current dceu.
