Based on what we saw so far, like germa is technology based army, and their men train all day long like zoro, I wonder if Papa vinsmoke is a combination of physical strength and gadgets like the shoes Yonji has, or he is another df user based guy… And is it me or he has some fire degin on his helm and belt? could be fire user? Anyway, don't expect much from this fight, the final battle is the one that sanji will shine. And I want to see what BM did to Jimbe, that's the problem now, does he still have his neck?

@The:
So… Chances of Oda actually showing us some of the skirmish between Papa Vinsmoke and Sanji?
Are slim to none.We will see nami being held captive by the wicked Disney forest witch lady from different angles. More corny and useless dialogue from luffy, maybe the rabbit from Alice and wonderland will show up on the chase again, big panels of the seducing moving forest speaking, oh that big giant will pop up again with more lame speech bubbles. As a cliffhanger, Sanji on the floor, papa smoke standing over him, "YOU WILL MARRY INTO MAMA'S FAMILY!" DON!!!!!Side box: Sanji overwhelmed!!!!!

It could probably go either way. I'm guessing Sanji vs. Yonji was done off-screen to demonstrate just how much more powerful Sanji is than his brother - the fight didn't even need to be seen because it was so one-sided (or something like that). Father Curly is definitely stronger than Yonji, enough to warrant either a similar off-screen annihilation or a gritty on-screen confrontation.

@le:
I am inclined to believe that reasonably sane parents will not name their child Killer. Unless his parents are like the incarnation of Kaido and Big Mum. Not really buying the Killer is a Vinsmoke theories by the way.
Well, there is a guy called Smoker out there.

@The:

I don't think they'll actually even fight, since it wouldn't contribute to the plot in any way. It'd be kind of useless to see them fight each other now. They'll be interrupted in some way.

Well, there is a guy called Smoker out there.
Aaand the Vinsmokes are called stuff like "3 o'clock" so it wouldn't surprise me either. XD
-
Who says Killer even has parents? He could have easily been an orphan without a given name and earned the name killer through childhood. Also, the killer "theory"(it's not a theory) is the dumbest thing i've read in this forum.

You obviously haven't seen much of the forum, then.

As much as I want to care about Sanji's family matters (which I do), I'm more concerned about Brook and Pedro's search for the Poneglyph. Without a doubt, they'll run into one of BM's daughters, but which one? And of course I'm dying to know what's gonna happen to Jinbei! Just know that if he has one less limb, Luffy won't be the only one who wants a fist drilled through BM's face…
-
Oda did said it once that he came up with the name Killer because he was too lazy to think of a name.

When the lot were jumping the river, did luffy wanted to say: " Wait guys! thats not me" ???

Yes, it seems like it. Then the fake Luffy covered her own mouth which led to Luffy being unable to pronounce another word.
-
Yeah, about that. Can Brulee control the real luffy, or was that like luffy's freflection in the mirror, that she stole and luffy still has some control over his reflection?
-
yeah it was also not clear for me how the whole "Change" worked.. :(
-
@uniaka:

It works like a mirror; when one of them moves, the other one has no choice but to move. If one stays constantly in motion, the other one follows the movements. I presume one of them has to stop moving for the other to take control of his movements.

Neither did I at first. 'Had to read that part again to truly understand what happened.

Is there a chapter this week? I remembered reading somewhere about some holiday in Japan, which is why we got a chapter a day early.

Is there a chapter this week? I remembered reading somewhere about some holiday in Japan, which is why we got a chapter a day early.
Issue #04-05 -> third week of December
Issue #06-07 -> first week of January
Issue #22-23 -> last week of April
Issue #36-37 -> first week of August
Breaks only happen during these double issues. Otherwise, the early holiday chapters don't mean anything else. So yes, a chapter will come out this week.

VIZ/Mangastream differences, Edition #Something:
- Not a huge difference, but instead of "Whose food will they end up as?" it's phrased in VIZ as "Whose prey are they?"
- When Luffy asks "What happened to Sanji?", Nami's reply in VIZ is "Even he is under suspicion! All we know is that he looked just like Sanji!"
- Brulée's laugh is spelled "Wi wi wi wi". Also, she doesn't specifically say she wants to slice their faces; she just says, "Beauty like this makes me want…to tear it to shreds!"
- After Brulée tells the Straw Hats that she's been with them all along, she just says "Running and running and unable to escape!" I'm assuming she's still saying the same thing she was in MS (which was "No matter how much you run, you'll never be able to escape these woods!"), but I found the difference a little jarring.
- The lake behind Big Mom's castle is spelled "Lake Aprico" in VIZ.
- VIZ specifies that the portrait that MS calls the "Four Nation Coup" (called "The Conquest of Four Nations" here) was an event "in which [they] vanquished four kings of the North Blue all at once."
- Also, instead of Reiju saying "Nothing's wrong with a man brandishing his fame and power!" (implying that she was talking about the portrait), she instead follows up her statement of saying that her father wants Germa to rule over the North again by saying "What's wrong with that? Men are inevitably drawn to strength and glory…"
- VIZ just calls his father "Vinsmoke Judge," and "Generalissimo" instead of "Commander".
- Interestingly, Sanji does admit he has a father (Zeff, obviously) in VIZ: "I have a father…but's it's not you!!!"

Bellisario, could you post Sanji and Reiju dialogue about Pudding? In MS translation it was implied that Sanji indeed met Pudding, I am curious if the VIZ version is the same.
-
@Monkey:
Their stories are not close or even similar. You said that since Oda uses lots of French references, you don't understand why people don't accept you connecting Boa to Thomas Hancock and Boudica.Thomas Hancock's name is insanely obviously English, and insanely obviously not French.And Boudica was from Celtic Briton.
hold your horse and read your history books …and did you know the former queen was based on Brigitte Bardot?
-
@.access:

Sure. In that panel, Sanji says (in response to Reiju telling him he could live a life of luxury as a royal), "Why bring this up now? I'm not getting married!!!" and Reiju answers, "But isn't Pudding just so sweet? I really like her." So yeah, VIZ also seems to imply that Sanji really has met her.
-
I'm glad Sanji said that. It's not often we get call backs to the crew parental figures. Judging by the intel Pekoms and Capone had Judge is probably pretty clear on where Sanji has been but I hope has questions about Zeff.

Chapter threads seem to fizzle pretty easily these days, I guess no power-level discussion to keep silly flames going.
We can do a prediction, though. Who wants to bet Jinbe appears next chapter? 2-3 chapters? 4+ chapters? Gee, I don't even know what to pick myself. He could show up as a lifesaver, or a life that needs saving, or something completely unexpected.
I am kind of curious about his fate, though. -
Anyone else echo the dude's ( OPP ) opinion that he thinks the nami fight will be sidetracked for now. Does it seek to early for a real fight to happen or do you expect a quick scuffle and the 3 to escape. Also what do people think we'll see IRT sanji and his dad fighting?
-
Well, big mom has enough daughters for nami to pick another final fight, but then again, Brulee and her df looks great enough for someone's final battle this arc. Both witches and all…the question is, Brook and Pedro will should egt in trouble too since BM/ pudding knows about them.
-
The first three children should be high on the power scheme. I am basing this in silly observation, however, the higher you get on the generation scale, the more fearsome the individual, compare: pudding, muscat, fish-girl, brulle. And yup I am being a superficial bastard on this. On another note, Brulle just messed up her entire plan. She showed her true form, therefore left an unrestrained Luffy in middle of BM territory, by himself, and if you are telling me that Luffy cannot go against Big Mom's first mate, I am not sure what I am reading then. Of course Luffy is an idiot. He could just get capture eating some sweets.
-
I really, really hope that Brulee's fruit isn't something like a superior version of Bon-chan's fruit.
Although I have been pleased with the recent chapters, Oda's tendency to reuse powers and make them more… superior somehow makes the original DF lose its novelty. The fact that no person alive can have the same powers with another is one of the aspects I like the most about OP. The countless repetitions of matchachacha my DF is better than yours even if our powers are fundamentally the same just somehow feels a bit cheap and lazy, even if Oda is trying to show the level gap between the New World and Paradise.
And nobody can surpass Bon-chann! Even if he/she has an afro and an eyepatch.
-
This chapter was ok. Not bad, but nothing special for me. I'm not sure what else to say, I've been at a loss for words about it…hence why I took this long to even post about this chapter.

If I'm not mistaken, Brulee's DF power works like a reflection of yourself. Brulee can turn into and control the person she's mirroring, but if her victim moves, she does too, like a mirror. Plus, there's most likely a range limit to how far her power works. If anything, Bon's DF power is superior because all he has to do is touch your face and he can copy the person he touched (and several others) from head to toe with no range limit or mirroring.

I'm praying that Jinbei is in the next chapter. I could see him saving Brook and/or Pedro from a killing blow from one of BM's daughters or if Jinbei lost a limb, Brook or Pedro could save him instead.

I am not. Nothing extravagant will happen to Jinbei. The most, loss of an arm.

This chapter was great. We really need some fighting and action next chapter because there's another break come august first week so it will be again a long wait as we already had a break last chapter. Important things should arrive because we really need to see the pain of brulee and nami victory.
-
I only just noticed the discussion only has 15 pages. Sure, the chapter was somewhat lacking in insane developments and stuff, but is it just that?Personally, during Summer, I'm a lot less active on forums, due to more work and more outdoor activities.

I was also quite impress that after almost a week this thread was so short, I assume most of the people are on holidays (those bastards) …....

Chapter was so good they don't find the words to describe it.

Out of those options on the roulette, Big Mom's JR is the only unknown element. Which is why it's the most likely outcome. Jinbei got it and its meaning will be explained to us in the following chapters. Assuming Jinbe appears soon.

The Pokémon Go effect? :ninja:
It's not really that time consuming. I hope? I turn it on like 2-3 times a day, for a couple of minutes. Then again, I work a lot and then go to beach or train or socialize. Summer is hot here and taking long walks is not a great idea during day time.

for exemple zoro name come from "François L’Olonois" a french corsaire, Roronoa Zoro is not frensh at all in One Piece but it didn't stop Oda to use that name and found it fitting… so about Boa it's a bit the same ... her tribe is not frensh (except for the Bardo reference for the old boss) but Boadidée is a inspiring strong female warior... Oda uses a lot of frensh refences I don't know why, but maybe because he just find it more exoctic...

Boadicea was the most common version of the name, which is probably derived from a mistranscription when a manuscript of Tacitus was copied in the Middle Ages.
-
@O:

When did Oda ever mention Boudica. I'm pretty sure he never mentioned her at any point ever. So in fact Oda has never used any spelling, and you increasingly sound like a raving lunatic of some kind.
Boadicea was the most common version of the name,
There is no common version of the name. It's a name from some old dead ass Celtic language, described by Romans in Latin, and then variously vomited into the local Roman colonial languages and peoples.But most of all why does the French version matter (which is not even pronounced like Boa). Oda would be using the Japanese version of the name.NONE of these versions are pronounced like "Boa". They're either read as "Boo" or "Bow".Making matters further retarded is this is all completely stupid and pointless because the question of where Oda got the name "Boa" is the most obvious non-mystery in virtually the entire manga. It's the friggin' snake. She's the snake princess, from an island of amazons who use snakes in their motifs and also literally.Every time you bring this up you establish extremely poor and even nonexistent connections to Boudica. You seem to think Oda's could only have taken a warrior woman leader from nowhere else…..in the context of an island called AMAZON Lilly. What keeps hurting my head most of all....is why the hell are you so stubborn about this. Why do people DO this with small meaningless claims. You'd think this was part of religious conviction for godsakes.
