@Monkey:
To stop people going "ODA SAID LUFFY IS A BRAZILIAN PERSON" for the 145th time.
http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/SBS_Volume_56
@SBS:
D: Nice to meet you, Oda-sensei. I have a question. If One Piece was set in the real world, which countries would the nine Straw Hats come from? Pen Name: MICHAEL JACKSONS' BROTHER
O: Well. I'll just put what fits with the character's image.
Luffy: Brazil
Zoro: Japan
Nami: Sweden
Usopp: Africa
Sanji: France
Chopper: Canada
Robin: Russia
Franky: USA
Brook: Austria
People keep saying that because it's a factually correct statement. Within the confines of this what-if scenario they are as Oda has stated them to be. You seem to be confused and adding additional qualifiers to this situation in an attempt to invalidate it for some reason.
Let's take a look at the conversation so far:
@FelRes:
Speaking of, I still don't get if Usopp is supposed to be half black or what.
Someone made an offhand inquiry as to Usopp's race in comparsion to real world races.
@SomeRandomGuy:
In some SBS "what-if" trivia Oda stated that he'd be african in the real world.
I made a response underlining a previous statement by Oda concerning Usopp's hypothetical nationality in a scenario of him existing in the real world.
@Monkey:
That's the often quoted and rarely read and comprehended thing where Oda just associates countries (or continents apparently) with certain characters for stereotype/joke reasons.
Brooke is Austria….because lol classical music.
It's not "this is literally where they'd be from".
You make an assertion that the statements made by Oda for a hypothetical what-if scenario being entertained for the sake of fun are not valid because it was… done for fun.
Once again:
What's your point? Because so far it seems to be an argumentatively redundant "non-canon what-ifs scenarios are non-canon."
