Okay. Thanks for the feedback. I'll think about everything you've presented. You're late to the party though. I already conceded that I will not be bringing up Pedro as the next nakama unless asked or another who may support. We can move on now.

I like you, seemingly better men have gone ape ship bananas over less.
Why thank you. You have any new thoughts on next nakama?
-
Man I'm a broken record at this point. Others convinced me of Jinbe years ago and all I do is reiterate those same points. I've got nothing new to add that I haven't said 83 billion times already.
-
Yeah, Jimbei's the only one I feel sure about, too. If for no other reason than because it seems like way too much of a cruel tease to drop so many hints and clues about him joining and then have it not happen. If we really are getting another one after him, though, no freakin' clue who it could be. We may not have even met him/her yet. (If we do get another member after Jimbei, I hope it's a female. Otherwise we'd have nine males and two females as the main cast members, which would feel like a bit too much of a sausage fest.)
-
While 3-eye girl will definitely be an important character in the Big Mom conflict, I really don't think she's the ONE even if she gets character development in the upcoming arc.
Her 3 eye is indeed unique but if you take that out , her design is quite generic…Kinda like Monet. Monet look unique with the harpy thing. But if you take that out, she looks generic as hell...Do not speak like that about Sanji's future wife
-
Where the hell is Jinbei? My prediction is he'll be showing up soon around Zou…if nothing else but for the fact that theyre in the middle of the ocean and its an opportune moment...
-
Nope he will be back at Big Mom with Luffy going there soon
-
A dream lives as long as your work and determination can bring it to fruition.
If your dream is "to be right about a manga theory" you can only work to put the facts out and that's it. Its not like oda will come and see "oh Pedro is very interesting to some people, I might make him a main character"
Besides, for someone that wasnt here for the Pauli wars, the conis conflict, the wiped wipeout, the first perona wars, the margarite must join, the Hancock rebellion, the second perona wars, the great mermaid debacle, the attack on Monet, the Rebecca is not useless movement, the violet will not spoil the sense of adventure Commonwealth, the wicca's republic for wicca and the "straw hats all have a letter of this list and the sum of their birthdays must be a prime number except if it ends on 8" conspiracy theorist.
All of them led to dark and annoying times, so every and each "nakama" theory gets the same amount of disregard and disgust.
this post made me laugh so much!

@Rotten:

As Kishido said, it makes the most sense for him to show up in the Big Mom arc.
When he declined Luffy's request to join for the time being, did he not mention that he had business he had to take care of with Big Mom first?
-

But that could be literally years from now. Jeez. I was hoping whatever he had to do would be done off-panel.
-
@Rotten:
But that could be literally years from now. Jeez. I was hoping whatever he had to do would be done off-panel.
We aren't years off with Luffy going after Sanji soon.
Further more it would be anticlimatic with him just joining after clearing his business off panel… What do you expect. hey Luffy here I am and Big Mom is totally fine with it? Nah for sure not... There is more to Jinbe like his crew being under Big Mom, even if they don't want to be pirates anymore, and of course Fishmen Island.
And really we are talking about Big Mom... She won't simply agree with Jinbe joining a pirate, who challenged her... And do not forget the bomb as well
-
@Rotten:

Jinbe's current nakama status is Strawhat membership on hold. If Jinbe is to be compared with the other Strawhats in importance than we the readers need to see the Big Mom issue resolved on-panel. Extreme example: Could you imagine Sanji's Tea Party dispute being off-panel!?
-

This is what makes the most sense, and for that reason I don't want it to happen this way, maybe Jimbei could arrived at Big mom's after Luffy left and go after him to Wano.
I don't know, to me it would be pretty boring is it actually happened the way you say. -
So off-panel is more interesting
-
It's an Emperor! Who wants Jinbe to settle such a big issue off panel? Now I wouldn't be opposed to Jinbe seemingly talking his way out of Big Mom's crutches off panel, joining the straw hats, then later it all comes back and ship hits the fan on panel.
-
Ship hits the fan…I see what you did there.
-
Could definitely see Jinbe showing up by the time Luffy gets there. Or is already there before Luffy arrives. I imagine that if his crew is under Big Mom's then he might have an invitation to the wedding/tea party anyways. Big Mom is going to be extremely pissed at all these turns of events ruining her party.
-
Jinbe left Fishman Island nearly 2 weeks ago in story time. Tomago said the tea party was in 4 days and if they picked up the candy tomorrow they would have enough time to make it back home. I can't imagine Jinbe's little bubble boat can go as fast as Big Mom's flag ship but I'm pretty sure he's made it there by now, probably with Wadatsumi as his water horse.
I expect Jinbe to be there already and in trouble, maybe imprisoned with him and Sanji secretly discussing matters and making plans with proper titles.
-
Okay…I have two nakama thoughts and follow up questions that I will put out there. I'll keep it short. I hope both go up for discussion.
- The next nakama, besides Jinbe who is a given, will be a ninja...in my opinion.
Luffy star eyes
a) How many times in the manga does he display them? I don't know but I posted some anime images for reference. Maybe I'll look for the manga chapter of each pic.(any help would be appreciated)
!
There's more pics but I'm not going to do all that right now.
b) What are the end results each time? Does Luffy get what he wants?
- Will the final crew count be 11(futbol) or 13(masonry)?
a) Oda loves soccer. How would he show that love? Soccer references in manga
b)Is Oda a Freemason/Stonemason? Stonemason references in manga
c) Mugiwara no Ichimi = 13 = Strawhat Gang
! @Diablo26283:
! > You are wrong !At one point in One Piece we had at least 13 Strawhats ( Luffy and his 12 Nakamas )
Even in Japan they think we get 13 Strawhats
Maybe Sanjis Bride is the third 3 for the Crew
But listen by yourself :
! @fuzi11:
! > So i found this Japanese youtuber, who said there are 2 very popular one piece theories/rumors1. The strawhat pirates call themselves the mugiwara no ichimi which translates into strawhat gang members. But apparently ichimi can be reconstructed into "13". And the rumor is that this will be the final number of the straw hat crew. The "straw hat 13".
2. Apparently a former employee of Oda revealed that the next strawhat will be a kunoichi with the tsuku tsuku no mi (fits apparently with the numbers theory) . This was apparently said before the introduction of Raizo.
So my question : are these really common topics in the Japanese community, or is he just as weird as the western community?
Hope you enjoy any talking points. :ninja:

I find it very very unlikely that Oda is a Freemason. I don't know much about Freemasons other than what I just read from that wiki article so I may be wrong about this, but the impression I got is that it's some sort of belief system that has it's roots in medieval Europe.
Oda lives in Japan, where the majority of the population are either Shinto or Buddhist. I'd say it's more likely that Oda is Buddhist (considering all the Buddhist references, which are really more prevalent than that one mention of stonemason which seems to have no connection to Freemasons).
While I wouldn't put it past Oda to use ichimi as a pun, that alone is not enough evidence for 13 crew members.
I still say it's eleven, not just because Oda likes football (I personally find that inconsequential), but because of where we are in the story. We're nearing massive conflicts with two of the four emperors. If we consider Jinbei the tenth member, then I find it improbable that Oda would have time to flesh out another 3 new members. - Will the final crew count be 11(futbol) or 13(masonry)?
-
Luffy has done star eyes plenty of times. Particularly over food or things Franky does.
-
How did this thread suddenly go to Oda "possibly" being a freemason?

Sorry if this is too sporadic shift of subjects. I have had these thoughts for a minute and just waited to ask and see others perspectives.

The guy in the video made a reference to it. And supposedly Freemasonry is connected with the number thirteen.
Someone posted a "theory" in 2014 about this. Not sure if it is the first mention of it or not. The video in the link doesn't work though.

Nothing to do with a damn thing in figuring out a crewmate. This is actually worse than what I thought it was.

Did you actually read what I stated? Did YOU read/listen where I originally got this information? Only reason any crackpot Stonemason theories are being referenced is because of the Ichimi no Mugiwara=13=Strawhat Gang. If you would have watched the video or just simply asked why, I would have explained and stated that. Don't throw around bans and you don't even understand that the posts true focus is not even about any code or conspiracy.
The point was to discuss. I asked a question of starry eyes…how often is it done and what are the results...backlash...because someone automatically assumed secret code.
I have some thoughts for both sides of the 11 vs 13 nakama question. I didn't even provide those. I provided what the arguments are based on...backlash...because its connected with conspiracy that I NEVER said I believed. These are basic assessments that I made and presented but since people judged the reference content it turned into something that it wasn't supposed to.--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Let me give an example to...clarify what I was actually intending.
The soccer argument is brought up when people debate 11 vs 13. But if Oda "loves" soccer then it should be in his manga. So what soccer references are there? My example is the name of Kyros' move "Trueno Bastardo". It could have a double meaning of sword and soccer move if Oda meant to do it on purpose.
! Techniques
! Trueno Bastardo (雷の破壊剣(トゥルエノバスタード), Turueno Basutādo?, literally meaning "Destructive Sword of Thunder"): Kyros jumps and slashes his opponent with his sword, similar to a lightning strike. This attack was first used against Diamante.[18] "Trueno Bastardo" is Spanish for "Bastard Thunder"; the Japanese pronunciation of Spanish "Bastardo" is the same for English "Bastard", a term from how a longsword is referred as "bastard sword".
! Re: Chapter 776: The Colosseum Hero
@BeariousJones:
! > There goes Oda showing his love for football/soccer using the term Trueno Bastard.

Edit: A football goal scored usually from long-range with high degrees of velocity and power.

What I'm doing is asking some questions I don't know the answer to. Luffy got stars for many things. Food, Chopper, Franky, Ninjas, …now I just wonder if Luffy has shown them for any other reason. Just a thought...like I stated.
Luffy gets stars because it is a funny cartoon expression.
NO code. That is your assumption on why I posted it. I'm just curious. Nothing is a given.
You're trying to see it as a pattern that has a specific meaning each time Oda uses it indicating a direct thing (Luffy obtaining something).
The starry eyes isn't a code. It's just something Luffy and other characters do. I doubt every time Luffy gets googly starred eyed he gets what his heart desires…which is usually meat. What I'm really curious about is on examples and what happens.
So you doubt it's a code, but curious of it being a code?
Besides, if Oda puts concepts and minute details in his cover pages and color spreads then starry eyes could mean more…but I'm not saying it does.
If you can't tell the difference between cameos and concrete easter egg things like that with bonkers interpretations of cartoon faces, this is not the vocation for you.
Nope. I don't know what Oda does or believes in his spare time nor care. The man is a manga writer and artist. He makes One Piece. Thats all I need to know. "lol I'm no conspiracy theorist dude"
"are you afraid or something? sheeple?~"If you asked me what could be worse then Monet and Perona theories itt, I would probably think nothing. But the introduction of youtube level conspiracy theory proves me wrong.
Next: Dave Chapelle secretly hinting at Illuminati at all times, is Oda??Stop what? You are the one making it something that it is not.
You threw crap into google and grabbed the first garbage loony bin website you saw and called it research. That's pretty much a massive batsignal of everything wrong about your approach to thinking.
-
Out of curiousity, I feel like asking this: why are there so many editions of this thread?
I feel ignorant.
-
The Kouzuki Family invented the poneglyphs. They look like stonemasons.:getlost: And I remembered watching the video back then and made a connection. I remembered the 13 meaning something"special" in his Freemasonry comment in the video. So I'm not concerned with conspiracy. I am just wondering if Oda would REFERENCE any type of LITERATURE or INFORMATION that Oda finds interesting but Oda does NOT have to believe in himself. The Ichimi no Mugiwara=13=Strawhat Gang != Strawhat Pirates is another point of his.Throw out ANY and ALL conspiracy talk.
-
The Kouzuki Family invented the poneglyphs.
No they didn't. They crafted them. It was never said they commissioned and planned them or anything like that. It's pretty obvious they're the masons that the ancient civilization called upon. Freemasonery and associated conspiracies have almost nothing whatsoever to do with the origin point of actual stone masonary anymore.
Also even by this logic any freemason references would be strictly focused on the Kouzuki family and no one else. As Oda has actually shrunk down the stone mason activity out of the ancient civilization and directly into the hands of a SPECIFIC Wano family. Making it even less likely then it already was that he is planning anything by this.
The Kouzuki family's reference point would seem to be the Japanese royal family, so even there it's clear Oda isn't thinking about freemasons. -
I don't think Big Mother would just allow Jimbe to quit her crew. Who would want to lose such a powerhouse former warlord and all the fishmen? Besides with the mafia theme with Big mom, you just don't quit mafia… alive.

Threads are supposed to be closed after 500 pages of discussion. I think it was to conserve space or to keep things tidy. A few of the threads for other major manga titles on this forum also have multiple editions.

It's looking less and less likely like we'll get a mink. I think it's clear there will only be one non human ( born ) character on the crew

Jinbe was name dropped this chapter. The ones going to Whole Cake to save Sanji are Nami, Chopper and Brook, along with Luffy ofc.
If they leave without Jinbe, we riot.
