I say we wait for Raizou reveal before we decide who we want the most from Zou lol

I think chapter 816 adds another argument for Pedro being a potential crewmate as a lookout. Pedro went to a high structure and informed his leader…somewhat...of what he saw.
I'm guessing Mangastream modified what Nekomamushi said in the bottom left corner. Does anyone know what Nekomamushi actually said? Did he hear Pedro or nah? Not sure where the raw is though.

Ha, yeah, it was pretty funny how Mangastream just completely changed that line. Hopefully VIZ's translation (which'll come out on Monday) will make it more clear what he actually said. @Dranza:

Yes…YES! Join me in the Dark Side!
Agreed, if any Mink at all is going to join, I think after 815 she's become my top choice, too. Can't wait to see Raizo, though.
Is a look out really that important since it seems many strawhats perform that role, and if the look out too good cough violet arguments cough wouldnt it take a lot of surprise out of the story.
I like jinbe and pedros cool too but having such arbitrary positions as lookout and too a lesser extent helmsman as justification on why they can join seems too analytical to me, its one piece not a detailed look at sailing in the 16th century. If oda wants them to join they will

I like Carrot too but Chopper and her are pretty similar, both names start with C and both are anthropomorphic animals. We haven't seen Chopper's new jumping point right?? Maybe he can jump as high as Carrot if that's the case.

What is arbitrary about a helmsman? I would think a elite helmsman would be an excellent asset for any crew but Jinbe will not be the helmsman. It doesn't match where he is strongest: underwater.
Viola/Violet is a walking spoiler. She has the elite skill but it is too much…there is no real room for growth. Plus Robin clone.
Pedro though has shown to like high places...where lookouts are generally. Pedro also has the added skill of being great for nightwatch as felines are nocturnal and he is under the night regime on Zou. Pedro just needs to buddy up with Zoro so there will be no problems in the lookout place when Zoro is training.
All the Strawhats have positions: captain, literal first mate/unofficial first mate, navigator, sniper/gunner, cook, doctor, archeologist, shipwright, and musician. So why would the next crewmates, Jinbe and unknown other, not have roles as well? Plus their positions tie in to their dreams. So the role to me as of now carries weight in character and plot.

I think there's a color spread that has the straw hats and in the background there were their positions, Zoro's was swordsman so maybe Jimbei will be martial artist???

I agree it probably won't happen she's fine where she is. She's like the Marguerite of Zou (blonde Amazonian lady from Hancock's island) very likeable but isn't going anywhere and is staying put. The loyalty shown by minks rivals the strawhats and I think Luffy won't miss the opportunity to grab one but who knows… so far into the story I don't think we're getting anymore other than Jinbei :(

I actually expect an alien or an esper to join, Oda has been adding shonen stereotypes to the crew as of late.
A singing skeleton is a shonen stereotype now?

well he's a supernatural being, kinda like a ghost.
Raizo and Pudding are my only bets right now, and they haven't even appeared in the manga yet.

Which colorspread? I briefly browsed through some and didn't see it.
If Zoro's official role is swordsman then that's what it is but Brook is a swordsman too. And Sanji, Chopper, and Jinbe are all martial artists. I guess in Zoro's case his dream is to be the BEST swordsman so I can see the reason in that. But I doubt Jinbe's dream has anything to do with martial arts so I don't think that will be his role.

I could be wrong, I just can't remember where I saw that. But I wouldn't call Sanji and Chopper martial artists and Brook's official role is musician.
well he's a supernatural being, kinda like a ghost.
The supernatural part is only from his Devil Fruit power. Wouldn't that make Luffy, Chopper, and Robin supernatural beings as well if we're going that route?

I mean, I don't know how to explain it. Like yu yu hakusho, yokai watch, shaman king, bleach, rosario+vampire etc.
You mean that implies the existence of afterlife

yeah something like that, Oda even made him turn into a ghost after the time skip with no indication that he could even do that before.

that's not really true. His soul left him when he died. And when his DF power kicked in, he body was lost in the florean triangle for a year until brook found it. So him being a bodyless soul was already shown.
It was never stated anywhere that his soul could leave his body anytime he wanted after he was resurrected.
His power comes from the resurrection fruit, not the soul fruit.
Besides that's not my point, he has supernatural theme like everyone from thriller bark so anyone with the same concept is not going to join.
It was never stated anywhere that his soul could leave his body anytime he wanted after he was resurrected.
And it was never stated that Luffy could selectively inflate parts of his body before he did it, or that Franky could upgrade parts of his body before he did it, or that Robin could combine her extra parts into a single giant body part before she did it, or that chopper could gain even more forms before he did it, etc.

we'd known Luffy could inflate himself since the Buggy ark but we never considered that his inflate self would be anything but soft, as for Robin we saw her do the giant limbs in the fourth movie. And Franky, how also would he gotten stronger. But Brook, I was just expecting that he would get music Power ups like a bard from a rpg, the whole out of body experience was totally unexpected and kind of weird, that actually gave him ice powers, how???

You don't consider Black Leg Style(based on martial arts like savate and capoeira) or KUNG FU Point to be martial arts in some form?:wassat: Not sure if serious.
I know Brook is the official musician. All I was stating was that he uses a sword but his ship role on the crew isn't defined by that.

You know when ghosts or spirits come around the temperature suddenly drops? Or how in some faiths hell is like this ice cold blizzard land as apposed to fire and brimstone? Brook bridges the gap between worlds and uses that ice to compliment his sword play.
I would also enjoy a mink in the crew, but so far there seems no fitting candidate.
Pedro as a lookout crossed also my mind, but we have no connection to him so far, which a character suited to be part of the SHs should be able to achieve already.
Carrot fits my hopes for a female, but same problem with her.
So i highly doubt a nakama from the minks, but them standing behind the SHs as loyal allies…hell yeah!
I'm just saying that Oda is really pushing the whole "Brook is a supernatural being " on us. Don't get me wrong, his powers are really cool, I just would a passable explanation. At least saying that the ghost thing is his awaken mode or something.
He… explained it. Brook's soul got lost, so it only has a loose connection to his body, he's mostly dead. So he can do things with that.
How does Sanji set his leg on fire without side effects?
I'm also glad that once you're dead (aside from Brook's fruit), you're really dead once and for all.
@Bartholemew:

Well now I'm hoping for a dia de los muertos arc.

I think Thriller Bark is as close as we're likely to get to that.

Better knock on wood. Brook's fruit sets a precedent for afterlife shenanigans.

df awakening :ninja:
How does Sanji set his leg on fire without side effects?
No matter how hot the fire is, his heart burns stronger! :ninja:
I'm 100% certain that with current events as they stand. We will be seeing the final two Strawhats joining.

Thing is, Brook never actually tried to use his DF. He simply assumed all it did was bring his soul back once he was dead and then wandered aimlessly through the seas for decades. And that was all.
His DF potential was almost untouched when we met him, so him developing new abilities with it once he finally decided to train is perfectly fine.
As it turned out, the Yomi from its name comes from Underworld, not Revive - and its ability is not reviving, but anything related to this connection with the other world (like bringing out the ice from hell or whatever). There are a lot of places Oda can go with that fruit now.

you're right, we never know what to expect from devil and I actually like his new powers and with Usopp getting his plants. It feels like after the time skip everyone except Luffy got assigned an element so we can assume that any new nakama will be assign one too.
Luffy : rubber
Nami : lightning
Sanji : fire
Zorro : wind
Usopp : flora
Robin : flesh
Franky : steel
Brook : spirit
Jinbei : water
Chopper:??? Fauna?
Luffy : rubber
Nami : lightning
Sanji : fire
Zorro : wind
Usopp : flora
Robin : flesh
Franky : steel

Chopper:??? Fauna?
Chopper really doesn't it into the pattern you've set. As its more to do with what he is and not what he can do, unlike the others.
Heart (for his healing, naivety which seemed to be emphasized a lot) may be possible
My turn! My turn!
Luffy: food
Zoro: muscles
Nami: bra
Usopp: lie
Sanji: love
Chopper: cuteness
Robin: Robin
Franky: perversion
Brook: afro
Jinbe: kimono
Following this logic, the next strawhat should be….
!
Luffy: Red
Zoro: Green
Nami: Orange
Usopp: Yellow
Sanji: Blue
Chopper: Pink
Robin: Purple
Franky: Light Blue
Brook: Black and White
Following this logic, the next nakama is most likely Brown.
Oh shoot!! I answered to the wrong quote, sorry about that.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Next crew member will probably have metal theme power.
Next crew member will probably have metal theme power.
You saying Franky isn't metal enough?
You saying Franky isn't metal enough?
I'm saying Franky is too convenient to be metal. I think Franky is Light.
So it's… Vergo?
@Bartholemew:
So it's… Vergo?
No, it's the punk hazard metal door, and future rival in the crew for Sanji.
How can the door be an appropriate rival?! It's way too powerful for poor weak Sanji…
the metal door is too door to fit through the Sunny doors
I had a mild mental breakdown writing that sentence. I don't remember the last time I wrote the word door and now it's really freaking me out
It doesn't have to be iron/steel, maybe someone with a bronze type fruit. Luffy wanted a bronze statue right??

I doubt we'll see someone with that kind of fruit, it would be too similar to Sengoku
