I really don't want Kinnemon to join, I like him but not as a crew mate
Next Strawhat Crewmate (Vol. 6)
-
-
anyone one weeble nakama train with me ?
-
I'm curious on if this is POSSIBLY foreshadowing with nakama introduction reveals. In chapter 814, the Strawhats are talking about Sanji and his wedding predicament. Luffy states that a new member will be joining the crew. Now this alludes to Purin but I wanted to try to see it in a different perspective. After that new crewmate statement and arguing amongst each other the reader is introduced to full introduction reveal of Pedro. No one else is revealed in this "nakama" chapter. This could be the reason why Pedro was not properly introduced in chapter 805.
We have seen that Luffy and the male nakama are fascinated with ninjas since chapter 803. Raizo was a big letdown to them in terms of first impressions in chapter 817. That plus the samurai being part of the Kouzuki clan eliminates ALL of Kouzuki retainers as main crew nakama to me. But could another ninja perhaps join instead…a kunoichi perhaps? I doubt it for character development time frame since they probably won't see a kunoichi until Wano. Well...is there any other CURRENT known characters that may have ninja like qualities? Hmmm...:cheerful:...Pedro, to me, may fill the ninja void and I think I have an explanation why. When looking at what a ninja's job is Pedro's concealing of his presence ability fits the bill.
And one more word: Ninjaguar! :ninja:
Maybe (にんじゃガー) or (にんジャガー)
Would one of those two translate to ninjaguar as a portmanteau of sorts? Did I even do it correctly? My "research"
! A ninja(忍者?) or shinobi (忍び?) was a covert agent or mercenary in feudal Japan. The functions of the ninja included: espionage, sabotage, infiltration, assassination and guerrilla warfare.[1]
Syllable Edit
ジャ (Hepburn romanization ja)
! The katakana syllable ジャ (ja), whose equivalent in hiragana is じゃ (ja).
Usage notes Edit
Unlike the hiragana system, used for Japanese language words that kanji does not cover, the katakana syllabary is used primarily for transcription of foreign language words into Japanese and the writing of loan words (collectively gairaigo), as well as to represent onomatopoeia, technical and scientific terms, and the names of plants, animals, and minerals. Names of Japanese companies, as well as certain Japanese language words, are also written in katakana rather than the other systems.[edit]
! ninja 忍者 (hiragana にんじゃ, romaji ninja)jaguar ジャガー (Japanese / 日本語)
PS: Yes, Pedro for nakama fan. I know.

All of these people are more popular than Kinemon.
!
I don't see anything since this was released to indicate that he's moved up. He's just a bridge to Wano (and likely Kaido). Besides, he's been with the SHs through three arcs already. Who else has been with the SHs through three arcs and then been asked to join? The only possiblities I see this arc are Carrot and Raizou. Oda said there will be new SHs and they'll join consecutively, which to me means one arc after the other. If Luffy and Raizou (and Carrot?) end up infiltrating Big Mom's tea party, then that means we'd possibly have that scenario (with Jinbe being a lock and Raizou and Carrot being the others). -
Wano's passiveness at Dressrosa does not give him favors.

Wano's passiveness at Dressrosa does not give him favors.
Oddly though Kinemon only because majorly passive after meeting up with Kanjuro. Arguably, he played as big a role as any of the other characters in the crew. He gave the original reconnaissance crew their costumes to hide their identity. He ran into mooks and ran into Sanji to fight off those mooks in Dressrosa. He was part of the battle with Zoro between Fujitora/Doflamingo. Kinemon came up with the animal costumes for Zoro and Luffy to sneak into Dressrosa. Then he gave himself the Doflamingo disguise to determine the whereabouts of Kanjuro. I still recall that the beginning of the arc had Zoro/Kinemon at odds given Zoro had Ryuma's sword (and that went nowhere).
I'm still baffled that despite all the screen time Kinemon had such a low popularity ranking. But then again, that's just cause I like him as a character despite having similar traits to certain Straw Hats and sexist remarks.
-
I think someone so stereotypically Japanese might be the reason for his lacking popularity in Japan.
-
And well same goes for Jinbe for some reasons. He hasn't done that well in the recent character poll as well. Instead we had Sabo and Law so high facepalm
-

Well, yeah.
One's an Ow the Edgemaster and the other is a mary-sue oatmeal pants. Both those things are incredible popular because of socially awkward teens that love to write fanfiction filled with that subject matter.

What, can't Japanese people take a joke at their own expense?
But seriously, this reminds me of another reason against Kinemon's joining of the crew: Real World Nationality. I mean, Zoro's already Japanese, so what else could Kinemon possibly be? Mozambican?

You're forgetting the most basic factor: They are handsome which appeal to the fangirls.
The top 10 sans Bartolomeo are pretty/handsome/cute.
Nobody like Jinbe because he's not attractive enough.:ninja: -
To be fair, those are the same people who putted Rebecca above Koala.
-
To be fair, those are the same people who putted Rebecca above Koala.
Shame on them. Koala is a WAY better character than Rebecca. Koala is more unique looking while not being ugly, a stronger fighter, has a better backstory, AND a more appealing personality. It's not even close.

Sabo and Law have been doing stuff recently Jinbe on the other hand has only been getting cover storys since fishman island.

Naaah come on. Fishmen Island in terms of character poll wasn't that far away in the timeline.
Boa Hancock was for example much much more popular.
And I dunno why… Jinbe is awesome

Hancock has boobs, fans pairing her up with luffy plus wanting to join the crew as his wife and her devil fruit goes with her sex appeal as well plus i know this is a japanese manga but if you add a d to her english name it also adds to her sex appeal lol. (luffy has a spare d to give her lol)
In other words if Jinbe was a female he would be higher in the poll also all decent looking named females get the i want her to join the crew because she has boobs or if he joined the crew faster he would also be higher on the list lol.
being active in recent chapters helps to get higher poll ratings as well that is what i was talking about with my other post.

35th is not a bad placement though, especially compared to Kin'emon's 101th. He's very close to Buggy and Rayleigh.

That's a bit unfair considering that Sabo and Law actually have a lot development. It's really selling the characters short.
Jinbe's very small in comparison. He wasn't even the focus of his own flashback.
-
Thinking over it I believe Inuarashi actually has a way better chance of joining than Jinbe because
! At open doors dogs come in.

Jimbei's popularity will rise depending on how Oda brings him into the story
-
Yeah I might be wrong, but when someone is a SH that is like confirmation you get an high rank in a popularity poll, I'm sure people forget some characters unless they are their favorites or the obvious "he/she is a SH" reminder.
-

I'm not even sure about this. I always got the feeling OP fan base enjoys more traditional and normal looking characters. But him people the least popular SH member if/when is something I can see happening.

I think so too.
35th isn't that bad (compare it with Brook that it's in 19th place, not so far), considering he's been away for years now (coverstories aside) and even when he was there didn't do that much (he's cosidered a wise and a strong character and gets along well with Luffy, but that's pretty much it), so I'd say he's so high because of his "SH vibe". Obviously when hes' gonna join he's gonna be more present and as a consequence he'll raise his position in the poll. But that's gonna happen with pretty much anyone that Oda will end up adding to the SH -

Considering the least favourite strawhats on the poll are Usopp, Franky and Brook, aka the weirder looking Straw Hat members, I think there may be some truth to that at least in Japan.
-

Yeah that's true. It also comes down with how much a person can really identify himself with a particular character (and that's easier if you look "human"), that's why 99% of the main characters of a shonen are average looking, average size and have black hair…

Well, to be fair, Jinbe does have breasts…just not the kind most people are into.

Jinbe's not much weirder than say, Franky or Brook, so it's entirely possible for him to be around their level of popularity.
-
So… that's Penguin there by Corazon, right? Is he a meme character or something? I would've called the dude an extra.
-
So… that's Penguin there by Corazon, right? Is he a meme character or something? I would've called the dude an extra.
Its Camel. Kuzan's Penguin.
-
What Jimbei need to rise his popularity is a good battle, Franky and Brook need one too.
-
To be honest everyone bar Luffy and Zoro, who still will get one, needs a proper battle.
Franky's fight with Senor Pink was really bad… While I love the back story the fight itself was to cheesy.
-
And then there's Robin, who hasn't gotten a proper one-on-one since…Skypeia, right? vs Yama? I feel like her lack of a 1v1 is basically a meme in One Piece by now.
Although yeah, I do agree with Kishido that pretty much everybody needs one.
-
I think we will get two arcs where absolutely everyone will get a one-on-one fight. First, whenever the first Yonkou will go down, and second, in the final battle, of course.
-
So… that's Penguin there by Corazon, right? Is he a meme character or something? I would've called the dude an extra.
It is a combination of being on Law's crew and having Sachi as a yaoi potential pair. He appears in a lot of fanarts, so yeah, quite popular despite being just one step above "nameless background character".

When we end up with some inevitable White Beard world war parallel, it's going to be Luffy vs Akainu, Sanji vs Kizaru, Zoro vs Fujitora, Jinbe vs Green Bull.
Nah. Considering how random Dressrosa's match ups ultimately were (outside of Luffy versus Doflamingo), I just can't see the Admirals going down so generically.
Personally, my head canon isn't much better, but I like to think it makes sense: Sabo versus Akainu (make up for not being there for Ace I guess, and Oda has to capitalize upon the 'magma > fire' thing again; Luffy will definitely fight him, just not be the one to deliver the coup de grace), Supernova versus Kizaru (The Supernova [not all, maybe only a few] bring a smack down to the man who smacked them), Zoro versus Fujitora (will likely happen, but neither will lose the fight, because, lets be honest, Fuji will likely end up helping the anti-WG fighters in the end), Green bull is anybodies guess, and, although Aokiji isn't an admiral anymore, if he is one of Blackbeard's cronies, he could end up fighting a Strawhat (either Sanji or Jinbe methinks).
I honestly have no idea, I just don't see each Strawhat taking on each admiral in the final war. That's all I can say.

Red Poneglyph for Nakama!!!

I get where you are coming from but given what we've seen of the White Beards and the Marines I think it's pretty safe bet to believe the Straw Hats biggest will face off against the Marines biggest in one big battle. Now that isn't to say that an Admiral or two will not go down before then by Luffy, while I certainly doubt it, even if they are defeated, they don't get jailed, the would continue on with their job and return for the world war, like Smoker. If something like that happened you can be sure that the defeated Admiral won't be left to Luffy again.
Akainu is Luffy's 100%, Sabo may get a piece of the action but Sabo will probably fight someone else high up in the government. Considering Sabo's history and role in the story an Elder Star or someone else physically and politically powerful would be more fitting. The man who killed the main characters brother right in front of him and gave him a huge Mihawk like reminder of that will be taken down by the main character.
Now if Zoro takes on Fuji but neither wins the fight will this be before or after Mihawk? What are we supposed to conclude if there is no clear superior if they clash? Zoro could beat Mihawk but we were never quite so sure of how he would have handled that Admiral Swordsman? Fuji was a master swordsmen first and you can bet one of Zoro's final fights will be against him in a decisive match. Fuji is one of the goodies sure but the reason behind the world war and One Piece itself could be extremely gray, causing Fuji to continue fighting on Akainu's side for what he believes is right. He can still be apart of the reformed Marines afterward and still fight the Straw Hats. He basically did all that during Dressrosa.
As for what is currently known in full that just leaves Sanji and Kizaru. I know people like to bring up his swordsmanship but even Aokiji brought out a sword at one point. Kizaru likes to fight with his finger tips and his legs, he went around asking opponents if they'd ever been kicked at the speed of light. If his ability with a sword was his most prominent skill we would have seen him use it in the war. Like Luffy thinking twice about striking Mihawk, it's pretty easy to understand why Kizaru didn't want to go empty hand against Rayleigh.
Green Bull and Jinbe is just a completely made up idea in my head. I figure if all Admirals are still around by then, no other Straw Hat will be better to take him on.
You think of it as something generic but Oda hinted that the final arc's content is going to absolutely insane in comparison with Marineford. It will be the final stage for Oda's main cast to shine and do what both the White Beard and Roger pirates couldn't. I mean what are we to make of Marco, Vista and Jozu? They were good enough to hold their own against War Lords and Admirals while the crew of the future pirate king can not?
-
I honestly doubt Sanji or Jinbe will be able to take on an admiral 1x1 until the manga is over. Maybe on an epilogue when they are Rayleigh-like oldschoolers.
I would like to believe Zoro wouldn't get to that level as well, but Oda loves him too much for that.I also doubt the Marines/the admirals will be the last enemies. If anything, I think they will be allying themselves with the SH in whatever the "last fight" is.

I really, really, doubt that. With Luffy being Dragon son? I think Dragon and the Revs will join the SH against the Marines in the end,

Thing is, I don't think the Marines are shaping out to be villains. Antagonists, yes, but not villains. And I doubt the last enemy will be a "non villain".
As things are now, I can see Luffy clashing with Akainu at some point, but then the Marines will go against the WG. The Marines are not the bad guys here, the WG is. The Marine is their military branch that is being depicted as getting more and more tired of the rotten leaders they are serving. And the revolutionaries are not the enemies of the Marines per se, but of the WG.
And regarding Luffy x Akainu itself.
We all saw how Sabo stands regarding Ace's death: he faces Ace's death as the result of his life as a pirate. He is nota whiny big baby like Lawtrying to get revenge because the person he loved died as a consequence of his own actions, he respects and values Ace's life by not trying to see him as a poor victim of others.
I doubt Luffy will be depicted much differently than that. I don't think Oda will make Akainu Luffy's nemesis just because he killed Ace. There will be animosity between them, but taking down Akainu will not be Luffy's biggest achievement like Law taking down Doflamingo. -

I do think Luffy vs Akainu will happen, and after that the marines (led by Fujitora and Smoker) will truly become a force for justice. Just like in Dressrosa, when Fujitora refused to fight Doffy because of the Sichibukai system, I think the marines will seat back and watch the fight between SH + Revs against the WG. And after all that the showdown in Raftel will happen.

Seems like it. Inb4 Momo for SH.. Again :ninja:

Seems like it. Inb4 Momo for SH.. Again :ninja:
He always was a potential cabin boy, however, I don't think that his retainers would join with him since they'd need probably need to stay on Wano as regents or something…
-
Seems like it. Inb4 Momo for SH.. Again :ninja:
Well, Oden was with Roger because he knew how to read the PG…Momo doesn't... and Robin does, so there's any reason for him to be a SH in that sense
-
It definetly feels like there's some big hinting towards a next-generation version of Roger and Oden, with someone from Wa joining now, but it's hard to say who. I can't really see any of the Three Retainers as long-time crew members, and Momonosuke has no fighting skills at all. Unless it's revealed Oden had a older child or something.
-
Well, Oden was with Roger because he knew how to read the PG…Momo doesn't... and Robin does, so there's any reason for him to be a SH in that sense
Agreed. Also no Wano Kouzuki retainer seems like they would leave Momo after Kaido is defeated. So I doubt Momo could leave with the Strawhats without them tagging along like they are doing now. In fact, Momo will probably be the Shogun(his dream) as the current Shogun will be removed for siding with Kaido.
So how about a stonemason or someone who knows how to copy poneglyphs using gyotaku for nakama? Are these skills teachable for the current Strawhats to learn in a short time frame?
Stonemason could be like their blacksmith using this "unbreakable" stone to craft weapons, armor, and tools for the Strawhats? Or perhaps Usopp and/or Franky could learn enough to do it instead. This person would probably be at Wano.
The Strawhats are going to encounter multiple poneglyphs(like the one Jinbe has) and it would be a big help if they can keep a record of all the poneglyphs they encounter by making copies for themselves. So this skill is looking like a necessity. Is it a hard skill to learn though? This could possibly be a Minkmen since Nekomamushi brought it up or someone in Big Mom's crew.
-
I don't see Momo joining. To me, it seems pretty clear that the Straw Hats and allies will defeat Kaido and liberate Wano, and Momonosuke, as the heir, will need to stay there and learn to become the new daimyo. Plus, having Momo around would be way too dangerous for him. The Straw Hats are already extremely notorious and very, very wanted by the government, and after defeating at least one Emperor (probably two, since Big Mom also needs to be dealt with), their notoriety will skyrocket even more. They're gonna have to fight super-powerful enemies, and what can Momo do? He's an eight-year-old kid who turns into an eel-dragon. He's not even close to being anywhere in the Straw Hats' leagues, and would only be a burden to them in battle when he can't do anything. He seems a lot like Shirahoshi to me: someone who's very important to the story for plot-related reasons due to possessing a special ability/status, but not crewmate material.
-
Personally I'm hoping Shirahoshi does join after that plot line gets revisited and fights Sanjuan Wolf as a sea king beastmaster.
