! He is long dead..what left to go crazy for?..
! Really? He actually threw a barrel.
! To me it's not so much that it's Marco, but it's how he died. They watched a friend they knew beg for his life and in the end did nothing, it's horrible from a emotional perspective for Marco and the shifter trio. Marco probably discovered they were traitors and the shifter trio were clearly suffering from doing it. It's like, damn. Something like this would be very hard to forgive.
! I know some people will be devastated because it's Marco, but I've never understood the very strong attachment to his character myself. He was good for the brief role he had, I guess.

you clearly don't know the fandom, do you? it's ok, it's a better world not knowing

i understand the fandom thing, but not for such a minor character…
Exactly. Is he THAT popular?
! I was like, "Marco? Marco? Who is Marco?"

Then you've obviously never been part of the Brony fandom. Their hundredth episode was basically a nod to as many the minor characters the fandom latched on to as was possible.
! The deal with Marco is that he's one of the dead characters like the first Squad Levi, Hannes and Mike and his squad, except I can understand liking those fairly minor characters more. I can even understand liking Eren's mother more with her time in chapter 71. Marco had a few lines to encourage Jean, that's it, little better in the anime because they were more spread out. His death made a point and developed Jean and that was nicely done, but besides that don't understand that strong attachment to him.
but u see
! jean x marco BIG LOVE forever!!!!!
It's funny because Eren's first squad barely gets mentioned when they had just about the same screentime as Marco had (being fun friends).

Reiner I hope u go to hell.
but u see
! Buuut, infact he didn't pledged his love to any of the three. So no harm done I guess
! Cool chap btw, but too slow for me right now.
! I vaguely remember a guy dying after the first Titan attack and I'm sure the author planned this all along but he left it too long. I doubt anyone cared about what happened to Marco at this point.
So, is this a chicken getting it's head off kinda deal, or is this heartless fgt still alive?
yeah if he's not dead, as a human, you'd probably just say … "screw it! that didn't kill him?? I give up ...."
*he has to be dead ... so that humanity can at least go, "hey, maybe!"
this chapter removes any sympathy i felt for reiner.that bastard didn't even have the balls to kill marco himself, and instead pressured annie to help him.
and then conveniently changed personality to escape from what he'd done
Really liked that chapter. Marco is sort of like Eren's squad or Franz and Hannah, in that I was sad because of what happened to them, but I don't have any super strong attachment to them. The way he died really was horrible and was a good way to tie that thread. You say Reiner switched like it's some ability of his, but it's actually a coping mechanism to deal with the guilt of his actions. It's anything but unfeeling. Yeah, the whole scene was pretty screwed up.
The picture is so ambiguous that even now i am not sure whether Reiner is dead or a cloud of smoke covering his head.:ninja:
Its on like eponymous ape.

i know that, but still..he cant's even kill him with his own hands, and then can't even properly accept what he's done. Bertolt and Annie at least don't hide behind a mask.they accept what they have to do,and have done.
I think even Reiner was shocked for what he did, while watching Marco being eaten alive.
Man this really makes the scene with Annie apologising to Marco's corpse heartbreaking.
Really loved this chapter! (Well, of course, how could I not). I love how human Isayama is making his main villains of the show, to the point it's very hard to really think of them as villains. Two sides are at war and each has their own truth.
I am really not getting how people go "oh wow, they are so evil and heartless" at BRA for Marco scene considering that Annie and Bertolt were both crying and Reiner went bonkers to cope with it? Because sure, it's very cruel, but they had no other options and they didn't want to do it.
I'm wondering if Reiner is really going to still regenerate after loosing his head huh. I hope he lives, but that roar might have been his last. Let's hope Bert won't lend on him next chapter by mistake…
I also loved little funny moments with Zeke/Seig, getting burned by hot coffee and how he scratched his ear, just like he did earlier in titan form. He reminds me of Rayleigh so much! :I

Yup. He's a bastard. A brat who had to be put down by his chief not to long ago too, apparently.
Bertolt's a cutie though. Here's hoping his character doesn't break down.
I was genuinely surprised by how freaked out Annie was. Pretty unusual for her character, even considering the gravity of the scene. I wonder if there was something more going on between her and Marco?
Well, it's been suspected that she has a thing for Armin and Eren, too, but I don't think so. She just grew to care about them and I think it's because how Reiner adressed her. He seemed to think of her as a possibly untrustworthy outsider, along with her father. Would explain why she would get attached to the 104th, when she's somewhat of a outsider in her own village, too.
Basically, this could lead to the age-old cliché of the female antagonist switching sides. I'm okay if that happens to Annie, though, since she's pretty complex and her behaviour would make sense. Reiner's manipulation is also interesting in that, he himself saves Connie later basically because of his own sense of empathy, which is shown through him developing a split persona. I also suspect this was the first time Annie (maybe also Reiner and Bertholdt) had to kill someone directly. Though Reiner and Bertholdt already broke the wall, but Annie just lead the Titans there.
Extremely good chapter, humanizing the villains in different ways and leaving us with more questions without convoluting the plot. This makes Marco more memorable than he ever was when he was alive. Should make for a great episode in a couple years.
What a load of BS.

I surprisingly don't find it to be BS. I kinda like that outcome lol.
I thought they had a plan and equipment to prevent this? Trapping Annie was a masterpiece, but this? I just hope there is more from Erwin.
You know, the Colossal Titan's greatest weakness is its sheer size. If everyone jumped on its body and ran around hacking away it wouldn't be able to concentrate and would be left wide open. They may have a hard time reaching the back of the neck, but it could be disabled at the ankles with those new weapons of theirs, or at least blinded.

Isn't his body supossed to be really hot?

Have you forgotten about the single trait that forces everybody to keep distances with this particular titan?

Bertholdt's body odor?
so they failed to take down Reiner and now they've got Bertholdt to contend with and the Beast still bearing down on them. In other words, you're screwed humanity!
Berts ear being cut so cleanly made me cringe for some reason.
!
Is Hange dead?! ;(
I really liked the action bits and more on Bertholdt's character, but I still gotta wag my finger at Reiner's power a little bit. It's not as bad as it could be as one of the points of the series is that some new thing about the Titans could crop up any second, Bertholdt talks about it as a last resort, it was hinted at back in chapter 74, but before this arc, there was no hint to it. I was expecting a lot more from this chapter, but I think it's good for the positives I listed.

@Purple:
Bertholdt's body odor?
If I remember it correctly, he is able to emit hot steam from his body with a lot of pressure, effectively blowing away enemies while at the same time scorching them. Makes him really difficult to deal with, since even when you're keeping your distance, Bertold still has that ridiculously long range going for him.
Have you forgotten about the single trait that forces everybody to keep distances with this particular titan?
Are you talking about the steam coming off its body? Because if that's the case, then it seems to only be when it transforms since Erin was running around on its back no problem.
Found this years ago and laughed my ass off, so I just repost it in here again
… I don't get it
^
cross product….
… I don't get it
It works this way.
Each square shows how the character on the left views the character on the top.
For example, Mikasa views Eren as a baby who keeps getting himself in dangerous situations.
Bestial Titan uses Stone Edge.
Holy hell that page where bert swung his legs like nothing is AMAZING. "Dont look down on me blah blah, you're just huge blah blah" and then he got his ass whooped. Is this supposed to be comedy, because i haven't laughed like this in ages.
That was a great chapter! The art quality dropped, but I thought it did a great job in building up the tension and yeah, part of why I like the series is because it's just so easy to make fun of because scenes can come across as unintentionally funny, but I can still take it seriously as a story. I know some people are seriously bothered by that, though.
The way everyone keeps asking about Hange makes me wonder if they really are dead. We've hit the point where we need some kind of reversal and short of Ymir showing up they're the only ones in a position to provide it.
Geeze. They are getting wrecked. This chapter was intense. The humans definitely need a miracle here.
I'm slightly glad that Armin kinda had a stumble in his strategic planning. Gives the others a chance to use their heads as well.
