i feel like the most interesting superbowl would have been the bengals (with a healthy andy dalton) vs the panthers
Would've been a nice if awkward revival of Cats.

Really happy seeing the Panthers going to the Super Bowl, they've definitely earned it after this season. Quite a 1-sided game tonight too. A week ago I actually had plans to be at the game tonight but this winter weather kind of flubbed that all up. :pouty:
I think the Panthers win in a blowout similar to two years ago. Peyton is struggling to get shit done, and even though that Broncos defense has been damn good, Newton's been rolling over everything. Plus the NFC was just plain better than the AFC in general this year. I would have picked Panthers, Cards, or Seahawks over anything the AFC has to offer.
Agreed. It's really hard to see things going any other way, honestly.
i have a feeling the cardinals will make a come back
edit: em….... forget i said anything :I
Peyton is ancient by quarterback standards but I wouldn't count him out. This is almost certainly his last real game so I expect him to pull out pretty much everything in his bag of tricks.
Panthers 35 Broncos 24
I thought Manning was supposed to be good (especially since they beat the Patriots, who are also supposed to be good) but everyone I've heard has been saying he and the Broncos are going to get their asses handed to them. Is it because he's old like people are saying above? Also he's apparently supposed to retire soon and people who don't like him think losing this will expedite that.

He's a brilliant quarterback and in his prime was one of the best of the best, but yes, he has had four neck surgeries, admitted on more than one occasion that he doesn't have feeling in his finger tips, and for the majority of this season was really bad, as well as supposedly injured. A lot of people are seeing this like when he played Seattle in the Superbowl a couple years ago and got obliterated.
He didn't have the awesome defense he has now, and outside of Norman I don't think Carolina has quite the secondary that Seattle did, so while I think this will be closer it's hard to see the Panthers as anything but considerable favorites. I do want the Broncos to win and Manning to go out with another ring, but I just got a bad feeling I hope I'm wrong about.
Peyton is really beyond old in NFL terms.
If you subtract quarterbacks who only played one season, the average is something like four years at that position; Peyton has been playing since 1998. He took all of 2011 off because of an injury and only started ten games this past season, but that's a lot of wear on the human body. Not to mention that he had a college career where he started thirty-five games right before that.

also did you see Cam Newton play last week? The dude scored 4 tds on his own
Tho to be fair I think Peyton Manning being the face of the Broncos is really misleading, since it's the rest of the team, specifically the defense that's (IMO) pulling most of the weight
Manning has also been dealing with Plantar Fascitis this year and had to sit out the 2nd half of the season with that. It's not just that he's old, but his body has also hit a breaking point. It was pretty telling that the team didn't really get any worse with Brock Osweiler at QB. He was one of the top 3 QB's in the league for most of his career, but at this point he's just another guy. He's immobile and he can't throw consistently anymore, so he has to win by outsmarting the defense presnap on every single play. That's a lot to ask against one of the very best defenses in the league.
Cam Newton is in his prime, and he can beat a defense that did everything correctly by simply running over people. Both teams have top notch defenses, but only the Panthers are playing offense at a very high level.
Of course… any given sunday the results can be different. Football is a very chaotic game.

He's an amazing QB, but he simply is not what he once was. Father time catches up with us all, unfortunately.

I'm going to eat so many wings at the Superbowl party.
Hahaha
I already planned to get some super nachos (with grilled chicken, steak and shrimp) and maybe a pina colada. Any excuse to party!!!!

That sounds great. I have to watch it at like…8:30AM over here so it's going to be a slap in the face of healthy breakfasts. I just hope the game is competitive, nothing sucks the fun out of fooding and boozing more than an awful game.

Super Bowl XLVIII. Never forget…
When it's your team getting taken to the curb and stomped on, or fucking up one crucial play like what Seattle did at XLIX it's going to be doubly hard to forget.
I think the Cowboys are gonna take manziel. They obviously don't have a problem hiring terrible people

Jones wanted him once before and his people talked him out of it. They're going to try again but I doubt it'll work a second time.
I'm surprised that Jones is only seventy-three years old; going by other NFL owners, he'll probably be around for another ten or fifteen years.
Anyone else who would otherwise be watching alone this year want to watch together on IRC this Sunday?
As a Jets fan all I got to say is thank God the Patriots got beat. Really puts a smile on my face I can only take so much Tom Brady and Bill Pouty-Face-chek.

If Jerry Jones really goes that far, I'd would really like some of what he's smoking. I wouldn't touch that kid with a twenty foot pole til he gets his shit together if he ever does.
I want the panthers to win the Super Bowl, mostly because Peanut Tillman, a former Chicago Bear, is on the team (though he's currently injured ). It'd be nice if he won his first ring. Also, I've been a fan of Cam Newton since his days at Auburn.
Manziel is looking more and more like Jerry Jones material.
The psychic puppies hath spoken.

Didn't know Jones like Busts

Same here, to stay awake all night the game should better be good.
I think I might black out tonight. My party got more or less canceled so I think imma just drink a bunch and watch the game by myself lol
Spikepig prediction:
It's that time of the year where I see that one football game and stay for the commercials. Sometimes I see 2 football games a year if I catch the Thanksgiving game.
Not that I have a problem with football as it can be very entertaining to watch but I just never have the time or investment.
Bring out the chips and dips!
The NFL: We love our country and military almost as much as we love taking their money.

And what is that porcupine's success rate?
I wish that octopus was still around.
Well, I think Manning's already off to a better start than last year.

2-1 I think.

Yeah, it's two and one. Teddy Bear missed last year's result but who can blame him for missing that coaching call?
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Kinda conflicted on that David Bowie tribute ad by Audi considering that Edgar Mitchell just died.
That was a terrible call
That defense, man. That defense.
Even as a person that dislikes the Panthers… that call was pretty nonsensical.
They'll make it up one way or another.
Panthers out there getting bodied tonight! As expected of my Broncos.
I think the Panthers forgot to bring their A-game tonight
Talib makes himself new friends…
but Carolina flies now also into this game^^
hmm this is a close call not sure it was worth a challenge
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Alright then it payed off this time
Ahahahaha that Steve Harvey commercial.
Anyways, a defensively-dominated game, which is to be expected.

I missed it, what happened?
lol Panthers just messed up bad xD
Man, huge special teams breakdown by Carolina there.
Nice step up for the defense though
Carolina just got saved by a holding call.
ouch Broncos just ruined their own chance for another TD
It's amazing the Broncos are up. Peyton has been a total nonfactor thus far tonight. I guess he's saving the power of the GOAT for the 4th quarter.
Looks like it was fated to be a turnover.
