I can't wait to buy a New Wii U when it comes out!
Bayo/Corrin are gonna be released on February 3rd
If 2014's Smash 6 job listing is for a brand new Smash launching with NX then I'll concede. I just have a good feeling it's not.
If there is no Smash period at NX's launch then I say no, there will be no special complete addition. The turn over for a brand new game launching with NX this year is far too soon.
This is all assuming the rumor from that journalist is true.

There is actually a decent amount of info out there. If it's not patents nearly confirming cryptic things we heard about months earlier regarding Nintendo using free form displays, then it's from companies like Square Enix announcing a new Dragon Quest for the thing, to Iwata telling us how they plan to operate the devices with shared architecture like iOS or Android platforms.

My god. Even if that were all true, on a scale from "nothing" to "everything" we'd know about .0000001% more than nothing. Guess what, companies file all kinds of patents ALL THE TIME that never actually get used, or that end up being for something different entirely. And no shit companies are going to continue making games for whatever platforms are available… pretending you know what unannounced titles are and what they'll consist of is currently the most ridiculous and delusional thing ever.
@Purple:
Even within the article they speculate if Smash 6 is something else all together. Maybe it was more employees for the DLC as that was the only Smash stuff to release in 2015. Though I'm not so sure about that after Sakurai confirmed the team was smaller after the initial release.
With this and that new rumor I think these employees were hired for the Super-Super Smash Bros Turbo.

Wow I don't know what you're so flustered about but when did I pretend to know what unannounced titles there are, Dragon Quest, Smash NX? Smash NX is my own theory. Dragon Quest is confirmed.
Reading between the lines with the NX is no different from DS, 3DS, or Wii U. We knew there was going to be double screens, glasses free 3D display, and a controller with a huge screen on it long before Nintendo gave the official announcement. Iwata has spoken tons about the NX. Much of it is vague sure but with patents I think people can put a few ideas together to give a general idea of whats to come. This isn't like before Iwata died during the earnings report and all he dropped was the NX code name. A lot has been said on the subject since then, only it seems you will only accept "hard evidence" accompanied by a press release.
You are saying there is basically zilch, nothing. A unified architecture in which both platforms can share a library, Dragon Quest, free form display controllers and the new Nintendo Account is not nothing.

Why would you even post the job listing for it loooong before the NX was even announced as a thing?
At most, they hired some grunts to finish up the DLC while everyone else was moving on with their lives to different projects that they were probably contracted to do by Bandai-Namco
Come on, man. This is just pure denial at this point when the job listing you keep citing is for a smash 6 that was slated way too early for a system whose code name and existence didn't even surface until the next year that at best was disguised as a job listing for a system that's already released and a game that would release the same year. If you wanted to hide it by obfuscating details, why even put "Smash Bros 6" in your job listing? Between that and the other deal of Smash 4 development definitely being complete with a firm release set for Bayo/Corrin, this is going from baseless speculation and hopeful overoptimism to pure fantasy at this point.
I get "flustered" because you're sounding no different from conspiracy theorists. I guess because the government released some UFO-related investigation files from 1960 that means aliens confirmed right!? Official evidence. Mindblowing. I predict 75% of our energy will come from xenoreactors within 10 years.
So the Smash Facebook is saying Bayonetta and Corrin are out this Wednesday evening (Thrusday morning in UK)
Even assuming the information is true, it still really is pretty much nothing anyway. I mean what can you even speculate on with that sort of information?
"It is a gaming console. It will feature a controller of some sort. And it will play games."
Sounds pretty nothing to me

See I'm thinking it's possibility, not that its some hard conclusion.
I do see your point though. I don't know what that 2015 release was about(other than things change especially with nintendo release dates) but if Smash 6 is something they were/are working on there was no way it was ever going to come out in 2015 anyway. I could see the listing for 80 new people to work on the DLC. I don't see Sakurai calling Smash Wii U and 3DS DLC Smash 6 though. Seems like it's all together something different to me.

Could be a typo. Could be a myriad of things, but by occam's razor, the preponderance of evidence of that job listing points to the simplest conclusion that they sure as shit ain't developing Smash 6 immediately after releasing Smash 4
And I mean like if we're talking possibilities, then I'm going to say that, based off the presence of Dragon Quest and Nintendo Accounts on the NX, I'm going to speculate that Dragon Quest is actually going to be distributed directly to all new NX owners through wi-fi, ethernet, feeding tube, IV-drip, enema, etc. via their new Nintendo Accounts like that U2 album that nobody wanted Apple to shove down their throats
Again it's just a possibility. Not some hard conclusion.
I didn't know you were that kinky, Purps. Enema gaming 2016.

Agreed! That's why I think if the new rumor has anything to do with this it's combined port of the 3DS and Wii U.
I didn't know you were that kinky, Purps. Enema gaming 2016.
It's the only way I can get anywhere close to high enough to speculate on baseless rumors and justifying them as possibilities
Romance Dawn: I understand you are super optimistic and hyped about all things smash, but even you have to realize that you're standing on extremely flimsy ground and there's more evidence right now to this being not news than there is to it actually being a thing. Your conclusions are based on evidence that has to be interpreted a certain way to be accurate and on assumptions on how things work without any evidence of it being the case.
It's the same thing with the NX. I know I'm biased, but fool makes sense in that we know very little about the NX, and all we know about it that you mention is related not at all to the NX. Yea, we know that Dragon Quest will be on the NX but that tells us nothing about it in the same way knowing there will be a mario game and a zelda game on it does nothing. Yea, we know about the new nintendo account stuff but that's a huge Nintendo-wide change as opposed to something specifically NX. The rest is really all rumors on patents and based on random comments from how people interpret information.
Ultimately, my point is you have to understand the difference between sheer theory/speculation and likely situation. Likely situation is us knowing that Twilight Princess HD was on the way because of the evidence gathered at the time. Theory and speculation is stuff like people saying Pokemon Z was "confirmed" and back before E3 last year when everyone was selling the idea of Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door 3D as inevitable. Could it happen? Sure, but we have so little knowledge it might as likely not happen.
I think the problem here and the frustration comes from the fact that this whole thing is sheer speculation that you're pushing with your own personal interests and with the assumption that it's more likely situation than it actually is. Hence fool comparing it to conspiracy theories, which tend to be based on really heavily interpreted data that's all conveniently organized to point in the direction that the arguer wants it to point to.
And heck, maybe you ARE right. But given the current set of evidence and hard data we have, I have no reason whatsoever to take what you're saying as an actually well-founded argument.
Purple/Fool: It's damn near impossible to convince a believer to stop believing. And I'm getting the impression this isn't a case of disproving knowledge, it seems to be more of a case of trying to convince someone not to believe in something, and I don't think that's gonna happen. I mean, feel free to keep posting walls of text, but when you're on the next page and this isn't going anywhere, I think we all have to stop and realize it's not going anywhere.
But really, I just came here to post this because I want fool paying attention to me and not to this discussion. So at least for him it's argument over XD
Purple, Romance, feel free to keep going back and forth, you do your thing. bows head and leaves with fool
Well I can see I'm in the super minority here but long before this rumor I've been considering the idea of these games being moved forward on a new platform. To me it just seems like good sense to use all this work as a platform to build Smash from and turn it into something of a service for Nintendo's next gen. It's something that has never been done before but times have really changed for Nintendo from the highs of the Wii sales. If not for the extremely long development cycle of Smash and a very short life span of the Wii U the idea would have never crossed my mind.
That's just my take on it. I don't mind being called a conspiracy theorist or anything of the sort(cause chi is real, aliens exist and so do ghosts), I just don't think the idea is as silly as others here make it out to be. And not that you said it Noqanky, I'm not trying to push my idea as an absolute, just another take on this situation.
I think I initially brought this up once the Smash Ballot was announced, I'm sure I did when I found out it was ending in October. Maybe not here though. I bring it all up again because this rumor could very well hold some weight. The guy who tweeted is reputable so I'm giving it some thought, thats all.
As far as the NX specifically, knowing that the architecture is being made between multiple systems for a shared operating system and library is huge. Even if we know nothing about specs, physical media, how many form factors, games, etc, that alone is a significant piece of information. Going forward that has got to be one of the biggest draws Nintendo will have for the NX devices. We aren't totally in the dark.
@Purple:
Bayo/Corrin are gonna be released on February 3rd
Unexpected, but awesome news
Was there a heads up about the Bayonetta amiibo too?
Nope .
I agree with Meta, that's a nice surprise Bayonetta and Corn are releasing so soon. Something to distract us before Fates.
There's gameplay that was released with the date reveal
Corrin looks pretty good but witch time looks broken af
More Bayo v Acorn footage
Corrin seems like a character where you can be good with him/her from the get-go, whereas Bayonetta seems to have that Ryu thing going where give it some time and people will be doing some crazy combos with her that will break the meta.
Seems i missed the convo on smash NX. If it exists it will be Smash Wii U with all dlc and then Smash run, some (but not all) of the 3ds levels brought over, then maybe 1 or 2 veterans (wolf & Ice climbers) and maybe, maybe (but unlikely imo), 1 newcomer (Inklings). Expecting anything else (especially 7-17) is just setting yourself up for disappointment. It takes a long time to make even 1 character and we know nothing about the size of this team.
I don't even know if that many competitive players use Ryu all that much right now anyway with Sheik, ZSS, and Rosy getting more of a lime light even after he's been released for awhile.
But Bayo? Maybe not something easy for beginners to pick up but pretty much getting your opponent to 70% and connecting with witch time guarantees a KO pretty much.

Thing is Bayonetta seems to require actual timing to really make her combos go from damage into actual kill, as well as to set up witch time, and I can see beginners to be more of the sort to just run in and try everything to combo as much as possible. It will be like all the noobs in for glory who use captain falcon and try that same combo but fail completely when as an opponent you know how to read them.
I see Corrin as more of a beginner thing given her range and movement, and the neutral and side special and crazy f-smash range almost makes her feel like an attempt at a FE ZSS.
Ryu gets less attention than the Sheik/ZSS sort of characters given that he's a lot more technical whereas Sheik and ZSS are mostly about speed and pressure. But even with that in mind, Ryu in the right hands is terrifying as they can turn a match around almost instantaneously given the massive damage output, ability to combo, ease of set up with down special and the shoryuken.
Bayonetta is just more terrifying given she's part of the group of super fast and agile women in tights, and the competitives tend to like that. But it will still require studying to be able to land the really destructive combos I'm sure, so in that sense I don't see her as a beginner character.
Then again, we have to also just wait and try the characters and see what it's really like.
I like how Bayonetta has the slowest clap.
All in all I just hope that Bayonetta's alternate palette swaps aren't complete shit like Cloud and Sanic
Edit: Nvm I see you Jeanne palette swap
I'll get the characters and learn them and stuff, though I don't expect to main either of them. Corrin has cool stuff and a palette swap I'll want to use, but I'm still kinda peeved about her being in this game too much to actually feel like using the character consistently. Having no interest in Fates doesn't help either.
both move sets seems pretty good. Bayonetta in particular looks like she can easily be top tier.
Corns side b looks like it comes out way faster than previously shown. And both look overall really fun. I love how they turned that silly snapshot move in bayonetta into her victory pose.
A bunch of new screenshots. A lot of Corrin but not enough knuckles, 7.8/10: i did not chuckle.
Oh boy I can't wait to get the mii QR code to get that mii that looks like knuckles
First official tier list is out: http://smashboards.com/threads/first-official-4br-smash-for-wii-u-tier-list.429817/
Tier list right in time for a patch on wednesday lol
I'm depressed. If I didnt screw up so bad last year I could spend my refund taxes on a Wii U and this game. I'm probably so far behind in skill I'm almost newb level. I probably won't stand a chance online when I finally get it. cries
Of course Palutena is bottom. Good job with the balancing Sakurai.
@Kaido:

I'm glad my main Sonic is solid this time around. He kind of blew in Brawl, took a lot of loses with him.
"Official" tier list.
Well, yeah. Smash tier lists have always been built from the smashboards surveys of top players in terms of their rankings of characters. Same as with 64, melee, and brawl. By official, they more mean that it's by the game's primary body not a single person's opinion or the opinion of a large amount of people who don't play at the highest competitive level.
And idk if people are really gonna take a Sakurai tier list too seriously when he mainly balances for free for all matches and said at E3 years back that Samus was the best character (which she may have been in terms of that point of development, but she didn't look too hot back then either).
Of course Palutena is bottom. Good job with the balancing Sakurai.
On the bright side, everyone who mains Palutena must be a badass.
Of course Palutena is bottom. Good job with the balancing Sakurai.
Hey, she's still a tier above Zelda, who seems to be perpetually bottom-tier. >:(
So, my main is A-Tier… that's neat.
Surprised to see Cloud so high. I'm not very good with him lol. Maybe it's just knowing the rest of the cast so well tho.
Can't wait for Bayonetta tomorrow! Oh yeah, that other one too!
Having some Smash-playing friends over tomorrow to have a Party of sorts due to this. Gon' be fun I think!
Is there a way when I do get this game is there a "season pass" type thing where I can buy all the content in one fell swoop? I just want to buy all the DLC at once and be done with it.
There is a rumor that this game will get a complete edition when the nx launches. Honestly, if that is true then I might get a nx at launch. I havent played my wii u since my gamepad got messed up. I dont feel like paying $100 just to have it fixed
Is there a way when I do get this game is there a "season pass" type thing where I can buy all the content in one fell swoop? I just want to buy all the DLC at once and be done with it.
Yes, well, almost. Provided you currently don't have any of it yet of course. Otherwise, you'd be re-paying for some of it.
All-in-One Fighter Bundle:
$35 for one Version
$42 for Both
Stage Bundle:
$8.50 for 3DS
$10.50 for Wii U
$14.50 for Both
Only thing, as far as I can tell, this doesn't include the Mii Fighter costumes, and I don't see an upcoming bundle for ALL of those, so if that's something you're interested in too you'll have to buy all 6 of the individual DLC Bundles that have come out.
Surprised to see Cloud so high. I'm not very good with him lol. Maybe it's just knowing the rest of the cast so well tho.
Big range, not too terrible frame data for his moves, and limit break so that you can reliably KO help Cloud out to be basically what Shulk probably should be more like.
Wow… I just did the math.
If you get ALL SIX bundles that include everything: that's All 7 Characters, All the stages, and every single Mii Fighter costume item... the DLC costs a total of ~$75 give or take a few due to tax.... And that's just for ONE version. (3DS version is exactly $2 less than Wii U due to Pirate Ship)
For BOTH it comes out to ~$105....
That's crazy... it didn't feel that bad I guess for me since I bought them one at a time across an entire year...
Incidentally, if you get JUST the characters and stages with the new bundles coming out, No Mii Fighter costumes at all, the cost is only ~$43-46 for One version and ~$57 for both....
Still..... wow....
