@RomanceDawn:
Vito the Phantom Gun? With that, the tongue and those big hands I'm in the Chameleon Zoan boat.
I thought so too, but there is a little problem: While chameleons have a tongue that is twice the length of their body, that tongue is not curled. Their tail is, though.
@RomanceDawn:
Before he whispered in Sanji's ear, Sanji seemed confident that he didn't need to show up to the tea party. I'm trying to figure if threatened Sanji with a family secret or possibly that "future Straw Hat Jinbe" would be in bigger trouble if Sanji didn't show up. That's a bit of long shot but it's Jinbe, I can theorize all things through the first son of the sea.
I think it's about a secret because Sanji asked him how he discovered 'that', unless that's a wrong translation.
!
I don't think it was a threat to Jimbei or any other Straw Hat. A threat to the Straw Hats was already made when Capone sunk Nami into the ground of his castle.
!
If he wanted to pressure him with his friends' lives, it suffices to use his friends (Nami & co) to do that.
@RomanceDawn:
Edit:
Can someone explain to me why Brook believes that Sanji has no intent on returning. I read the VIZ version and still can't figure it out. I saw a discussion about it earlier but don't know where it is.
This is my take on it: During the presence of Nekomamushi, which is Sanji's best chance to come out, Brook and the rest asked him to come out, to which Sanji responded that 'this is his problem', and then he gave them a good bye smile whilst saying to them that he promises to get back. Those acts were his good byes to the Straw Hats. Both is refusal to come out during Nekomamushi's presence and his good bye smile are reasons why Brook was certain that he wouldn't come out even if the minks went after him.
Furthermore, when he was discussing with Nami, Brook and Chopper inside Capone's castle, he said that he has no choice but to go and put an end to it.
!
Brook had plenty of reasons to conclude that even if the minks had followed Sanji, he would not have returned.
@Kaizoku_Ou:
I think seastone is too precious to be wasted on bullets(that may hit or miss), specially for pirates.
That was a war that Ben Beckman (who should not be someone who 'misses') got into, and that was an admiral at whom Ben Beckman pointed his gun, so I don't think Sea Stone bullets should be too precious to be saved for anything else other than these situations. Besides, Shanks is a yonko who, I assume, could get his closest friends things like these (sea stone weapons, etc).
@Kaizoku_Ou:
Vito's position, made me think of Jimbe's official title as a strawhat! he can't be just a 'fighter', with all his experience and connections he fits the role of an adviser very nicely.
He would fit that role perfectly.
@Fraco:
Your thoughts are pretty solid and I believe you are right.
I also believe pekoms and tamago still have to go to mom's whole cake, since they needed 3 days from fishman island to go there but they went after chasing caesar clown seeing him on punk hazard at the tv, and they were on the sea outside dressrosa that day.
They were not chasing the Straw Hats near Dressrosa on that very day because, remember, that it took Luffy and his friends 1 day to get from Punk Hazard to Dressrosa.
@Fraco:
after that they went to zou so in my opinion the bomb is still in the ship with tamago, the party still have to happen and mom have not opened the bomb yet.
With sanji and jimbe over there it would make perfect sense storywise that the bomb create havoc in that occasion
After that, Nami used a weather technique that created mist & fog through which they have evaded Big Mam's ship. And between that time and the time they arrived to Zou, a lot of things have changed, because 1 week passed after they lost sight of the Straw Hats.
Also, remember that Sanji and the rest arrived from Dressrosa to Zou on the next day, so it took them only 1 day to arrive there, whereas Big Mam's ship took 1 week to get there. Either they don't have a good navigator, which I really doubt since this is a yonko we're talking about, or they were busy with something else: tea party.
I know that one might say that their lack of log pose might have made their arrival to Zou very hard, but then again they have Pekoms with them, who is likely to have at least a vivre card of his family, friends, or what have you.
@Fraco:

Yes, the bomb is most likely to play a role with them around, assuming Jimbei still has not severed his ties with Big Mam.
!
@Galaxy:
Sure, it could be anybody that opens it if Oda wants to create such a twist.
But all the hints, gag or not, point to Big Mom being the one to receive it, which will result in her getting incredibly angry at Fishman Island or Luffy.
Not all. The Minister of the Right here says that it is possible that Big Mam might not be the one to open it.
!
So that one creates the possibility that it might not be her. It is also why I suggested the twist of somebody else opening that box. Yes, I know it's a gag, but sometimes things that are silly tend to dramatically shift the flow of events. For instance, remember when Vander Decken was stabbed by Hordy's trident, a lot of people thought that there may be chance that he won't faint because he resisted fainting or dying from Hordy's stab for quite a while just to find themselves surprised by seeing him faint in a very silly way: he slipped and hit his head against some solid object. That's another reason why I try to not get duped merely because it was written in a humorous way. Oh, and I am not insinuating anything from what I just wrote. I am talking strictly about myself.
@Galaxy:
It would be whenever it was delivered to her, as it was framed as a dire situation at the end of Fishman Island by the Minister and Neptune. With it not being opened or mentioned at all, it's probably still safely on Pekoms' ship.
If these were sweets, I would have agreed with this 100%, but it is not. Therein lies the problem.
@Galaxy:
That seems really far fetched. We didn't even get to see the box, and I doubt it's that small.
You are right: There is nothing guaranteeing that its size would be that small, especially considering that Hordy took an excessive amount of capsules from it, unless it is a magical box. The mythological – the original -- one was a magical box, though.
Just tell me this:
If we cast aside the scenario of the ring box, why then would Big Mam, who is interested most of all in sweets, look into the treasure bags when they are merely going to be sold to obtain the money needed to undue the damages that Kid caused them by sinking some of their ships?
She already displayed lack of interest in treasure when Luffy proposed giving her treasure as compensation for Fishman-Island sweets.
!
@Galaxy:
There's a huge difference between techniques resulting from gags, and something like this that will likely have dire consequences afterwards.
Only when you try to be specific about it. Generally speaking, there isn't a difference: they both fall under the category of 'silly things'. Point there was to provide an example of silly things from which you do not expect some convenient result.
@Galaxy:
I think it's safe to say they didn't though. They were all about keeping it under wraps, and had no idea how to tell anybody else about it.
Plus, this could've easily been shown on panel, and Jinbe's departure from Fishman Island probably would've been more dire than beating up Caribou and dropping him off at G-5, and then proceeding to help a sea-cat.
That is, if they told him about that 'before' his mini adventures (taking Caribou to prison, etc). When I said if they haven't already told him, I left it open to the interpretation of happening sometime before the present time, and we know that those adventures were over more than 10 days ago.
@Galaxy:
What's shown in the manga is important though here. Jinbe might have known about the contents, but he definitely didn't know it got sent in the exchange.
Yes, I agree.
@Galaxy:
This is before the Den Den Mushi conversation though. The context of the previous statement still remains the same to me.
The evidence that I provided on this matter shows the purpose of going to Big Mam: tea party.
Besides, at the end she refused his suggestions.
!
But that doesn't apply to the sweets that he said he would bring to compensate for the Fishman-Island sweets, because he used the word 'naturally' in the beginning of that sentence, and that carries the meaning of 'that goes without question' or 'without saying', etc.
Finally, there are hints that the tea party happened.
The deluge of information that Pekoms, Capone, Vito, and the rest of Big Mam's underlings seem to know about Sanji can't be told to them via snail phone. From a den den mushi, she will issue an order of getting Sanji in order to perform the marriage, but for that cornucopia of information to be shared among Big Mam's underlings, it must have happened at a 'meeting'. That's the first possibility.
The second possibility is if she asked Capone to gather intel about Sanji's family. In this case, it would be possible that the previous tea party may not have happened.
When Sanji asked Vito how he knew 'that'(whatever was whispered to him in his ear), Capone responded in his stead saying that if Big Mam asked you to die, you die for her. That's why I thought that maybe she asked him to get intel on Sanji at any cost. In this case, it could explain why Capone and Vito are privy to some secrets about Sanji.
!
It is also possible that she asked Capone to gather further intel on Sanji during the previous tea party or slightly after it had happened.
But then again, if she asked Capone to collect information for her, why would he be oblivious to what Sanji's family was thinking?
!
In this case, either Capone's collection of information couldn't get access to the real reasons behind Sanji's marriage, that collection of information was not done properly, or it wasn't the collection of information about Sanji that made him knowledgeable about Sanji to this extent. In the third case, a meeting would be the most reasonable explanation.
There is another thing that hints to the happening of the previous tea party: the obtainment of the invitation card.
!
If they haven't returned to Big Mam, how then were they able to get that card from Big Mam? Capone was supposed to deliver it.
!
If that card was not delivered to Capone by some flying creature (like the bat that the Government use to deliver a letter of invitation to the warlords) or something, Capone then must have returned to Big Mam in order to receive it and deliver it to Sanji.
These are my thoughts on the matter.
@mbaruh:
It could be used to keep away annoying pigeons.
If only Doffy didn't fall to the dark side..
Or like a fortress: to protect the people inside from the dangers outside (invasions, etc).
Or maybe to keep himself and his enemy(ies) within the cage and those dear to him (his family) outside the cage so as to protect them from harm just as Ace did with 'Enjoumou'.

The possibilities are lavish.
