It doesn't help that "Gang" Bege can potentially evoke a very different (though now I think about, hilariously accurate if taken literally) turn of phrase.
Chapter 812: Capone "Gang" Bege
-
-
Putting the pieces of Sanji's past together is hard. I want to assume he's being forced to marry to protect his family but if they're so important to warrant an Alive Only bounty how can they be pressured by Big Mom?
Sanji's reaction to the news was interesting. He never bothered revealing his past so I'm assuming something happened. Like many others I think he ran away the ship he's working on in his flashback. But that Alive Only…even Doflamingo didn't have that. The only think I can think of is Sanji being a non-disowned Celestial Dragon or related to one of the Five Elder Stars.
In the end I hope we see the return of Lola.
-
….........Oh god yes! His name is almost a description of his ability!
-
Like sgamer82 said, that's because he's more well-known as Franky, not Cutty Flam, so official sources use that name more often.
I don't buy that, it's an official website therefore they use the real name of the character.
here is the example, most of people call Whitebeard, but his name is edward newgate and look at the website, they wrote Edward Newgate not whitebeard
https://one-piece.com/anime/character/characters/edward_newgatelike i said, cutty flam is the nickname not the real one.

The only problem there is we see Iceberg give him the name in-series. I'm not at home so can't look for the specific chapter but if memory serves it's on the tail end of Franky's flashback in Water Seven and it's that way in both fan and official translations, manga and anime alike. Barring some potential "lost in translation" language quirk, I can't see that many sources getting it wrong. I'd there were such a quirk, they would more likely disagree.
Also, if Cutty Flam is the nickname, why does no one, including Franky, who you say is the one who adopted the name, ever use it at any point past or present?
-
Well, Capone just brings the guns back in the game. Looking how guns don't tend to kill/defeat outside of flashbacks and we had all the logia, paramecia powers, sword guys like zoro, guns looked rather inoffensive in one piece.
Also, seastone bullets and bullets with CoA only makes it even more awesome.

by the way, when luffy awake his DF every blade, gun (and possibly seastone..) will become uneffective against straw hats

You really are getting obsessed with this don't you think?
-
I'm just waiting for the Wizard of Oz theme to come about, with Nami (dorothy), Chopper (toto), Pekoms (cowardly lion), Luffy (scarecrow) and Franky (tin man) off to rescue Sanji from the great and terrible Big Mom.

It's probably not even a coincidence.

It's probably not even a coincidence.
If it's not then it makes me wonder if Oda knew what the phrase REALLY meant.

I can argue that being one of the main characters, it is more preferably to refer to him using the name that most people are familiar with. Another reason you can say that the name Franky is used in official sources more is because, as sgamer82 said, the identity Cutty Flam "died," so Franky became his new identity in order to hide from the govt. Basically, he changed his name on his ID card, but before that, it wrote "Cutty Flam."
And you said this page is a mistranslation, right?
http://mangafox.me/manga/one_piece/v37/c352/14.htmlWhy do you say it's a mistranslation? If it is indeed a mistranslation, then I'm sure the Wiki would've already realized it and changed things, but even until now, it says that Cutty Flam is the original name there.
I also checked the Chinese translation, and it has Iceberg saying, "Cutty Flam? You have a weird name… I'll call you Franky, okay?"
If you can read Chinese, then you can see for yourself here.
http://www.1kkk.com/vol37-4797/#ipg63It's the same thing as the English version, so there's no way this can be a mistranslation.
Therefore, Cutty Flam is the real name.

That website uses "Portgas D. Ace" despite the fact that Portgas is is not his real surname. His mother named him "Gol D. Ace".
Names can be changed.

What you don't understand is the following. Franky's name is Franky. His birthname is Cutty Flam. He abandoned that name when Iceburg gave him the new name Franky. From then on he calls himself Franky. That's why him being called Cutty Flam by Lucci shocks him so much, because he abandoned that name 20 years ago along with the secret of Pluton. For all that matters: Cutty Flam died when Tom died and Franky was born. That's why the official sources and every fan wiki calls him Franky. That's his name now.
Whitebeard, Big Mom, Black Leg, Red Hair, Pirate Empress, Joker, God etc are epiphets. Essentially nicknames. They still use their real names.

The Godfather (1972), famous mafia movie
An influential family who lead underground world. The Don had three sons (and one daughter):
1st son is killed, 2nd son is too weak, and 3rd son is tactical experience in WW II also well-educated smart as he was being away because he didn't like his father's illegal business. But he come back and shine.Wonder if Oda use it as his story reference. Sanji didn't fit a prince portrayal since we see a pirate who suits more like Cavendish. Remember his individual design is based on Mr. Pink in movie Reservoir Dogs. And a classy gentleman like Sanji is always sort of term associated to Don, mafia theme. He's even like a knight more than a prince.
I really want Sanji main arc is telling Underground side, especially after Doflamingo's defeat and we have Caesar here. I see someone has mentioned one in his post that one of the Underground people silhouette was probably Don Vinsmoke himself and I agree. In many fictions or perhaps in real world, mafia has political influence to government and the cops; I think it explains enough why Sanji is wanted only alive.
One Piece is really a great universe, we've yet to see samurai/ninja/japanese shogun era theme now we'd get the gangster. I'm so excited.

It would be amazing if it turns out to be a gangster-themed arc, especially with Sanji in the center of action.
After reading, again it's a misunderstanding, Franky didn't stopped to be called cutty flam because iceburg asked it, he used this name under Tom's workers, after Tom getting jailed by the world government Franky went to stop the umi ressha then got injured but came back years later and wanted to talk to Iceburg but he used cutty flam cause Iceburg was the one knowing the nickname, it's not the other way around.
But people can believe or call Franky whatever they wanna call him in the end.edit: just to show up the official one piece website and the name is Franky not cutty flam https://one-piece.com/anime/character/characters/franky
http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/346/14
Right here Lucci says that no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't find anything about Franky's past. That's because it's not his "official" name. -
I've seen theories being thrown left, right, and all over the place. Oda has us twisting our noggins over this, lol. Anyways, I reaaally want to see a Alice in Wonderland themed arc with a taste of mafia seasoning.

By your logic, Corazón is also the real name of Doflamingo's brother while Donquixote Rosinante would be his nickname: https://one-piece.com/anime/character/characters/corazon
-
This mafia / gangster theme seems to be quite recurring lately.
Punk Hazard introduces us to the underworld, then Doflamingo (Joker) is defeated, and now, we get to see Big Mom's crew, who's design really reminds that of mafia members (Capone, Pekoms).I would totally go for a mafia themed arc.
-
I did so tooo. I loved the fact that there was no hybridization resulting from that. I loved the fact that there was no reproductive isolation between them. And I love how One Piece sometimes does not adhere to the mechanics of the real world.
This is based on the assumption that they are his biological parents.
It´d be super cool if their genetics were like those of merfolk, but I meant Oda literally used the mama bear and papa wolf tropes :B
-
Maybe they will get some help from Law's crew.
-
All this Mink Genes thing reminds me of Keyman.

Gol is the family name, Ace threw it and used his Mom's, this has nothing to do with a given name.

I think access and King Cannon's points were more that's the result you'd get if you applied the same name logic to other characters in the same listing. It doesn't really work so you can't make assumptions based on it.
Granted, you could argue Franky is the exception, but that's what we've been arguing, too. (Stating Franky is listed over Flam because he's a main character and better known by that name)

Honestly, that came off to me more like "you've proven me wrong several times over but that's okay because I honestly didn't care at all, really."
But either way yeah, I think this topic's been talked out.

Not at all, i just thought that you guys are just trying to twist the reality to fit your standards and i don't have much time to waste into a talk that will not change anything, don't be so serious into talks guys.

Law never changed his name, he just kept some parts of it secret.

I legitimately fail to see how referencing the source material and taking it at its literal, consistent-across-the-board word is "twisting the reality", but all right shrug.

and this is what happens when u can't admit you're wrong, folks. you make a fool of yourself by posting random gifs and stop bringing arguments.
stay classy.

Really, this guy fills several pages of discussion with a topic that nobody really cares, argues against everyone else, when he is the one who read things wrong years ago, and after being proven wrong several times, he comes out saying "oh you're the ones twisting reality, I'm actually right, but I don't care about this discussion, I don't know why you took it so seriously". Someone give him a humble pill, please.
So, I think this is the 6th chapter of flashback and it seems about to end in 1 or 2 more chapters, which would make the next volume (81?) an almost exclusively flashback volume. After this, I think the setup is almost done and we'll have to deal with the samurai arriving in Zou and the Minks' reaction. But what about the conflict? Is it more likely that we follow Sanji and Big Mom's plot or that Jack returns and we have a big conflict in Mokomo? I still think Jack is more likely and Sanji's plot will be seen once that is over. Or will we jump between both? I don't think that's healthy for the pace, but it's still a possibility. This arc is looking like it's going to be much longer than the original hopes of many…

You're the one prolonging the talk though. Somebody pointed a big flaw on your logic and you literally went "lol, nope". That's just making a fool of yourself.
Be humble and just accept that you're wrong.

I'm not wrong, you should just move on, you really need to move on!
You are just bothering the other users by keeping on this off topic discussion anyway, i won't answer to Franky related topic, believe what you wanna believe i said i don't care. -
He just doesn't care.
-
I think Big Mom might not forgive Pekoms..she was known to eating her own crewmates lol…Maybe Pekoms will end up staying at Zou and lead the minks as Luffys allies. Or be a SH...Former is more likely.

This is why Pekoms should around with his shell at all time.
Nami and Chopper got captured easy but I'm ok with Sanji surrendering.
Capone sure can do a lot of exposition. Revealing his bluff, talking about his fruit… He really should learn to stay silent sometimes.
So Sanji is a noble? I wonder if he end up on a cook boat the Sabo way or if it was part of his education.
For Sanji to have gone willingly, it must have been a cutie.

Yeah, Mama doesn't seem to be the understanding type. I mean she refused to be given some gold in compensation for the candy delay.

Kinda feel silly now getting caught up in it.
Anyway…
I also participate in the TV Tropes One Piece forums, and a post there sparked an idea of my own.
The original post suggested the idea that Big Mom and Kaido each having an interest in the Straw Hats may cause them to come into conflict with each other. Personally, I wondered if their goals regarding the Straw Hats might push them into an alliance instead. Or, at the very least, the perception of an alliance by outsiders.
Mostly I thought this because the idea of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet escaping, repelling, or even defeating the combined forces of two Emperors would be exactly the kind of major event the end of Dressrosa promised.

I believe he was ship wrecked and Zeff saved him
-
Then all of a sudden we get a chapter that legitimises Bege as a badass mafioso by firing on his comrade and capturing half of the SH's, while also plunging him into a major storyline involving a main character.
Never change, Oda.
I wouldn't say he's done more than at the archipelago. He gave the same mafioso feel then and seems just as cool headed back then. A good pirate mentality and wonderful subordinate, but nothing that would make an impression on me or scream strong. I'm quite surprise on how big of an effect he had on reader in this chapter. I felt he talked to much.
Funny enough Zoro has a bigger bounty than him, I think.
-
Bege seems like someone who would have ties with the Underworld…a guy whose dealings aren't noticed by the World Government, hence the lower bounty.
-
@Buggy:

He was already a cook apprentice, before the shipwrecked. Zeff was attacking that boat.
